MY THOUGHTS ON THIS DEVOTIONAL

I haven’t  see a copy of the BibleForce Heros Bible, but this Devotional is a lot like it. There are 100 or more devotions, each taking a two page spread. The interesting and very cool graphics go along with the devotions. There are “Fun Facts” “Be a Hero” and “Hero Training” with each devotion, along with the graphics. And I love that the graphics are comic book like. They appeal to the older elementary and middle school kids, which this Devotional seems to be the right fit for.

There are so many Devotionals for kids out there, and I encourage you to give this a try. This one would be a very good one to read to your child, no matter the age, so you can discuss the devotions together.  There are a lot if possibilities with this Devotional.

Promise Lodge, Book 4

New-Beginnings-at-Promise-Lodge

Spring blossoms with new life and new beginnings for the flourishing Amish community of Promise Lodge. And as a just-opened bakery sweetens the air with fresh-baked goodness, residents will find that change can be a most joyous test . . .

Recently widowed after twenty years of marriage, Frances Lehman is only just tasting the freedom and opportunity that her Promise Lodge friends enjoy. So she’s not about to be pressured into marriage by her widowed brother-in-law, even if she and her daughter have no real means of support. Much more promising is her new friendship with Preacher Marlin Kurtz, though their respective families don’t see their relationship as proper . . .

When Frances suffers a serious injury, she’s determined to prove she can recover—and remain independent—without burdening Marlin. Now, with his steadfast belief in real love tested, Marlin’s hope is that Promise Lodge’s irrepressible residents can help him restore Frances’s joy—and that faith will show them a way to turn their fragile second chance into a blessed and abiding future together . . .

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Another sweet trip to the Ladies of Promise Lodge. It’s exciting to see many others who have joined this special group, all having their own unique thing to bring to the community. There is a lot going on in this beautiful story. I love the beautiful book cover, and yes there is a pie story, even a pie business run by two Promise Lodge ladies. This is one of the many businesses in the unique community. I think my favorite is the tiny houses, and you can read all about them in this book.

Much of this book centers around Frances Lehman, her pushy and determined brother in law, and Preacher Marlin Kurtz. Frances lost her Bishop husband just a few short months ago and she is enjoying her freedom. Not that she didnt love her husband, but he was set in his own ways with his strong opinions. Bit now two men seemed to be after her hand in marriage. But Frances doesn’t make it easy for them. There are other budding romances floating around the Lodge and community,  but I’ll save then for your reading enjoyment.  As well as the other exciting things happening in this Promise Lodge story.

Author Charlotte Hubbard gives her readers another fun and entertaining story from her Promise Lodge Series. It seems each book gets better and better, and I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I love and appreciate Ms. Hubbard’s unique writing and the characters in this story are wonderfully created and develop so well as the story unfolds. This is a beautifully written story that will give readers several hours of entertainment, enjoyment and lots of fun. If you love Amish stories, this book is a must for you. If you haven’t read anything from Charlotte Hubbard,  this would be a  great book to start with! You just can’t go wrong with this author.

A UNIQUE PROMISE LODGE

RECIPE TO TRY

Sweet Banana Cornbread

This makes enough batter for an 8×8” pan or about 10 large muffins. Moist and tender! Yummy! Double the recipe to make a 9×13” pan.

2 ½ cups of Cornmeal Bulk Mix
1/3 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 T vanilla
¾ cup mashed banana
½ cup milk
½ cup oil
2 eggs

Spray or butter an 8×8” pan or a 12-cup muffin tin. Preheat oven to 350º. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal bulk mix, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon, making a well in the center. In a large glass measuring cup or deep bowl, whisk the vanilla, mashed banana, milk, oil, and eggs until well blended. Pour the liquid mixture into the well of dry ingredients, stirring only until the batter is blended. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake an 8×8” pan for about 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center. Bake muffins 12-15 minutes, or until tops are domed and firm. Don’t overbake! Serve warm, or cool on a wire rack. After about 5 minutes, lift the muffins out of the tin.

Kitchen Hint: For a 9×13” pan of cornbread, double the recipe. Freezes well (use wax paper between layers).

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Naomi KingMany moons ago—like, in 1983 while I was still a school librarian—I sold my first story to True Story magazine. This launched me into writing about seventy of those “true confessions” stories over the years, and I’ve been a slave to my overactive imagination ever since.

The next big step was selling my first historical romance in 1990, a Zebra Heartfire called Colorado Captive. I quickly sold five more in that genre. They’re all out of print now, but available from used bookstores or at Amazon.com and BN.com. I’ve brought them back in digital format with beautiful new covers, which you can see on my Historical Romances page.

After a long dry spell that entailed major changes in the publishing industry, I resurfaced in a new genre, with a new publisher, editor, and agent who were so excited about my Angels of Mercy series! These four faith-and-family stories are also out of print now, but available at Amazon as Kindle e-books. With Law of Attraction (The Love Secret), I moved into new territory once again—and once again the setting is a place I love to spend time: the Oregon Coast.

Being an author is great fun when you’re selling, but it’s best to have a hide like a rhinoceros and a spouse who gets a regular paycheck! Patience, persistence and just flat-out luck have given me this opportunity to reinvent myself yet again. Those angels I write about keep pulling me through, and are often my friends and family—but I owe a lot to the heavenly beings who bear me up on their wings, as well!

My stories invariably take on a life of their own, different from the way I’ve proposed them: I love it when unforeseen characters and plot twists come along, because they keep me guessing right along with my readers!

I often present workshops at conferences. I belong to Novelists, Inc. and American Christian Fiction Writers.

I love touring historic homes, trying new recipes, crocheting, and playing with my Border collie, Vera—although it’s humbling, having a dog smarter than I am! I’m an ordained Presbyterian deacon, and I devote a lot of time to singing in my church choir, ringing in bell choir, and being a substitute organist. I’m celebrating more than forty-two years with my husband, who—bless him—has never once suggested I get a real job!

Cowboy Charm School A Clean Western Romance by Margaret Brownley

CowboyCharmSchool_select-002
ABOUT THIS BOOK

When Texas Ranger Brett Tucker accidentally derails a wedding,
he’s determined to bring the estranged couple back together…
but he never dreamed he’d start falling for the bride!

Texas Ranger Brett Tucker hates to break up a wedding, but the groom—notorious criminal Frank Foster—is a danger to any woman. So he busts into the church, guns blazing…only to find he has the wrong man.

STOP THAT WEDDING!

Bride-to-be Kate Denver is appalled by her fiancé’s over-the-top reaction to the innocent mistake and calls off the wedding—for good. Guilt-ridden, Brett’s desperate to get them back on track. But the more time he spends with Kate, the harder he falls…and the more he yearns to prove that he’s her true match in every way.

What People Are Saying About Margaret Brownley:
“Delightful, humorous…packed with engaging characters, loads of action, several mysteries— all enough sizzle to satisfy her fans.” —RT Book Reviews for A Match Made in Texas
“A sweet, touching love story.” —Kirkus Reviews for Left at the Altar
“Lively and warm. A welcome addition to a sparse yet popular subgenre.” —Booklist for Left at the Altar

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

As much as he hates to do it, Texas Ranger Brett Tucker has no choice but to break up the wedding. Not only is it time for Frank Foster to get what’s coming to him, but the lady he is marrying is in terrible danger. So here goes. And what a commotion it is making. Frank Foster isn’t going down without a fight. And poor Kate Denver, she will be so embarrassed the rest of her life, and the laughing stock of their little town. Especially when the unthinkable happens. Join Texas Ranger Brett on this long journey of finding out the real truth.

From the time Texas Ranger Brett Tucker crashed the wedding in the first chapter, till the end of the book, this story will have you laughing. As with all of Margaret Brownley’s books, it’s hilarious. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with the old Western town and its characters. There are so many scenes that had me laughing so much, like the ones where Brett was trying to redeem himself by teaching Frank how to be romantic, when Frank didnt have a romantic bone in his body! And some of the scenes with Frank and Kate, because Frank was allergic to animals. I had to re-read some of these scenes! Then there were somewhat serious times when Brett was spending too much time with Kate. And there is also a little mystery that came to town to pike your interest. This is a clean historical romance from Margaret Brownley, not Christian fiction like most of her books. Ms. Brownley writes both in her same unique way with lots of action and loads if humor and laughter.

Over all, this is a fun and exciting read. If you are looking for some clean, fun and funny entertainment, you should check this book out. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

The Cowboy Meets His Match is the second book in the Haywire Brides Series, and listen people, it’s just as hilarious as the first one. Chase McKnight has one year to marry and prove his marriage is ligit in order to secure his family ranch. Chase’s problem is, he marries the first lady who gets off the coach, and oops, she happens to be the wrong one. So, what’s he gonna do, he only has a year to prove his marriage, and his new wife knows nothing about a ranch. Chase might as well give it up.

I laughed at Chase and Emily all the way through this book. They were both as different as day and night. But as they spent time together and as Emily gets use to the ranch, the story gets even sweeter. But will it be enough. For the life of him, Chase has no idea why his dad left his half brother in the run to inherit the ranch, it should be Chase’s fair and square. But it is not, and believe me, this is a journey that will keep you on your toes. If you enjoy westerns, you will love this new read from author Margaret Brownley.  And I want to add, though Ms. Brownley writes awesome Christian fiction, this one is not in this category.  It is a clean historical fiction read with the same unique writing style and the same humor and laughter as all of her books are.

Launch – Note from the Author

Everyone loves a reunion, and A FAMILY FOR JASON provides one sure to touch the toughest of hearts! Welcome to the first book in my new series, Back to Bluestone River. . .

Andi’s Book Reviews – Review

“Sigh. Virginia McCullough knocks it out of the park again with this clean romance that is the first in her new series. Ruby and Mike had been high school sweethearts, until horrific tragedies separated them from each other and from the small town they had so dearly loved while growing up. Modern day difficult times, about 20 years later, have brought them both back home, neither one realizing that the other is there. It’s a great foundation for a second chance romance. . . . I truly greatly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it for those who are looking for a real heartwarming clean romance.”

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

A Family For Jason is a great start to a new series! The author does a fabulous job of setting the scene & introducing pivotal characters to lay a foundation for future books. Jason will have your heart in no time & you’ll ache along with him and Mike – as well as for all the time Mike and Ruby lost. A sweet second chance romance!”

It’s All About the Romance – Excerpt

“You’ve made a friend, Jason.”

The boy glanced Ruby’s way, but still didn’t speak.

“He’s kind of quiet.” The woman patted the top of the boy’s head. “That’s okay. You’ll talk when you’re ready.” She flashed Ruby a pointed look.

She was trying to communicate something, but Ruby didn’t know what. Not exactly. But the thin pale lines and telltale puckering of burn scars on the boy’s forearms might have something to do with his silence.

The Power of Words – Review

A Family for Jason, book #1 in Virginia McCullough’s Back to Bluestone River series, is a sweet romance with an appealing setting and characters that are easy to connect with. I enjoyed this fulfilling, heartwarming story and look forward to all that is to come in the series.”

Locks, Hooks and Books – Review

“I recommend it for readers who enjoy to read clean romance and heartwarming stories. Some readers may want to grab some tissues for this one. It is somewhat predictable but definitely worth a read. It is one that should not be missed. I look forward to the next installment from the Back to Bluestone River series.”

Jorie Loves A Story – Review

“. . . you can tell McCullough has taken her time to develop this series, of giving us a well-rounded and well-thought out plotting to where the foundation of the series can build out of this first installment.”

EmpowerMoms – Review

“I loved this sweet romance story involving Mike, Ruby and Jason. I loved reading about their town and their high school memories and growing up. It was so tragic how a past mistake affected so many lives for so many years. . . . Great story line, great characters, clean romance… I can’t wait to read more about this town and hopefully the town’s progress over the series of stories. I really enjoyed it!”

My Devotional Thoughts – Review

“This book has everything the reader wants in a romance and more. A struggling small town. The reunification of high school sweethearts. A sweet boy who was traumatized by a real-life experience. A best friend relationship that has stood the test of time. New beginnings, new adventures. Oh, and a cute, smart dog to boot! I cannot think of any better way to begin a romance series. . . . Highly recommended reading for any time of the year!”

Hallie Reads – Review

“The start to Virginia McCullough’s Back to Bluestone River series, A Family for Jason delivers a sweet story of returning home and second chances. It’s a perfect read for any reader in the mood for heartwarming contemporary romance. . . . Their experience is full of drama, emotion, and small-town charm, and I enjoyed my time with A Family for Jason. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more of this series in the future.”

Kathryn Cooper Writes – Review

A Family for Jason is full of real life. Every one of us goes through trials throughout our lives. This book cuts deep and is real. . . . A Family for Jason by Virginia McCullough fulfilled my expectations of realistic life difficulties and fast heart beating romance.”

Splashes of Joy – Review

“Ms. McCullough does a really nice job weaving together three different people with three entirely different situations, and writing a tender story that will warm your hearts, as it did mine. . . . If you haven’t read any books by this author, this book would be a very nice start to your Virginia McCullough collection. For me, it is a tender heartwarming story that will stay with me for a while. You dont want to miss A FAMILY FOR JASON.”

Harlie’s Books – Excerpt

He walked closer to the slide, waving to Jason, who sat at the top. Jason waved back, but then his focus seemed to shift and he hesitated for a couple of seconds at the top. When he let go of the handholds and slid to the bottom, he ran toward Mike, but then passed him. Mike spun around and saw a golden retriever straining on the end of a long leash. He smiled to himself. He got it. That dog was much more interesting than Dad.

His gaze followed Jason coming to an abrupt stop a few feet from the dog. He glanced at the woman holding the leash who was coming through the bridge and smiling at Jason. His stomach flipped as he froze in place.

Ruby. Ruby was on the other end of the leash. She leaned over to pat the dog’s side. Red-haired, brown-eyed, smiling Ruby.

Pause for Tales – Review

“This was a sweet and yet heartbreaking romance that shows how sometimes the awful circumstances and others people’s decisions can definitely take a toll on young love. But true love can and will survive.”

janicesbookreviews – Review

“I loved Emma dog. Peach helped Jason so much. Books with children and dogs are always enjoyable to read — nothing like the healing power of a dog.”

Nicole’s Book Musings – Review

“I like a single dad romance and this one had plenty of heart. This is also a great second chance romance. . . . This is a book you can easily fall into and just want to gobble up. Both Mike and Ruby are great characters with a lot of heart. You root for them to get their second chance at a future.”

Teatime and Books – Review

“You definitely will need 5 full teacups and some tissues for this amazingly sweet and romantic book by Virginia McCullough! A Family for Jason is just so amazing and I loved all of the characters. . .”

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

“Quit twisting my words. You know what I mean. I can’t stay.” She hadn’t confided to Emma that she had this same argument with herself every night.

“You must think men like Mike come along every day.” Emma snapped her fingers. “Just like that.

Ruby groaned. “No, I don’t.” Like she needed that reminder.

“I’ll say it again, Rubes, every woman I’ve ever known wants a guy to look at her the way he looks at you.”

Thoughts of a Blonde – Review

A Family for Jason is the first book in Virginia McCullough’s brand new Back to Bluestone River series and centers around reunited first loves, a lawyer and a crisis specialist as they each return to their hometown twenty years after the tragedy that tore them apart. . . . I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a sweet romance filled with the back drop of a small town. It was deep, emotional and satisfying!”

Remembrancy – Review

“A homecoming to a dying town, first loves reunited, and a precious little boy makeVirginia McCullough’s A Family for Jason a book you don’t want to miss. . . . I got swept away in the forests, river, and lake surrounding Bluestone River. . . . Seriously, the ending of this book is utter perfection!”

One thing I do need to mention. Margaret Brownley writes some amazing Christian fiction, but this book is NOT one if them. It is a Clean Western Romance fiction, with the same high quality writing as Ms. Brownley always rights, but just not Christian fiction.

Over all, this is a fun and exciting read. If you are looking for some clean, fun and funny entertainment, you should check this book out. A copy of this book was given to me by the author or publisher. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. Is Love Strong Enough to Overcome the Walls They Hide Behind?

Left waiting at the altar, Claire Simpson has buried her past and moved on, carving out a life for herself as a teacher on the Oregon coast. When her former fiancé appears, he threatens to unravel the peaceful independence she has worked so hard to achieve after their relationship failed.

Montgomery Chandler has moved to NOAA headquarters in Newport, Oregon to make new, happier memories for his children after his wife died of a lingering illness. Their home in Seattle held nothing but the whispers of their earlier lives. Starting over will help all of them heal, but Monty is resolved not to risk love again.

When the handsome widower enrolls his hurting children at the school where Claire teaches, her determination to remain uninvolved vanishes at the whim of a snowstorm. This family needs her expertise. Can she help them without losing her heart?

SPOTLIGHT BOOK 3

A KITE ON THE WIND

Claire couldn’t get Monty’s wind-burned face out of her mind that evening. She hadn’t realized how much she’d anticipated seeing him again. Nor did she understand the depth of her eagerness. They’d shared only a few encounters since they’d met, yet in her mind the man seemed like a friend she’d known for years. She fixed a light supper and picked at it while she watched the news. Nothing tasted good. Television held no appeal. She dragged herself to the papers she needed to review for tomorrow’s school day. The only image filling her mind tonight stood a little over six feet tall, with short, sandy hair, a shadowed beard on his chin, and piercing blue eyes.

“You’ve got it bad, kid.”

A Family for Jason

Contemporary Romance

She’s not home for keeps

Unless he proves first love is forever

Bluestone River is a minefield of memories for Mike Abbot—all involving Ruby Driscoll. Twenty years after scandal divided them, they’re both back in their hometown. Ruby’s visit is strictly temporary. But as she uses her trauma expertise to help his vulnerable son, Mike faces what his heart has always known. Ruby’s still his one and only. This time, can he convince her to stay?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

My Rating 5 Stars

Bluestone River is the beautiful setting of this new book, A FAMILY FOR JASON BY Virginia McCullough. Ruby Driscoll I’d back inner home town only until her beat friend heals from her surgery. Then its another job in another city anywhere she can find a pace to work. But Michael (Mike) Abbot moved back to stay, hoping to help his small son from issues he I’d having. And neither knows the other is back, that is, until they accidentally run into each other. But this can’t happen, not after what happened two decades ago. It just won’t work.

Not reading the back cover, I tried to guess what this.book would be about but I had no idea. The very first pages had me interested in finishing this book. I immediately liked Ruby, she has a sweet and caring personality.  But I felt bad for her because her self confidence is so low, she blames herself for the past when it wasn’t a thing she did. Mike was a little more bold, because he plans to start his own law office right in town, and help his old neighborhood grow again after it fell to pieces. Ruby and Mike being thrown together more times than they wanted was so sweet because if Jason. The  character who stole my heart early in the book and didn’t let go. Emma was a joy getting to know as well.

I really did enjoy A Home for Jason very much. Ms. McCullough does a really nice job weaving together three different people with three entirely different situations, and writing a tender story that will war your hearts, as it did mine. The character development throughout the story was a little slow at times, but only the character development,  not the story. And it had to be slow at times for the story to work. The plot flows smoothly, and I didn’t want to put the book down the necessary times I had to.

There is a lot of fun things going on in the story, that attracts both kids and adults. Not really a lit if twists and turns, and just the amount if romance to make the story pull together just right. If you haven’t read any books by this AUTHOR, this book would be a very nice start to your Virginia McCullough collection. For me, it is a tender heartwarming story that will stay with me for a while. You dont want to miss A FAMILY FOR JASON.

A copy of this book was given to me by the author or publisher. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Title: Love Calls Her Home

Series: Mended Hearts #2

Author: Patricia Lee

Publisher: Mountain Brook Ink

Release Date: March 1, 2018

Genre: Inspirational Contemporary Romance

Can a hurting boy help two broken people find their way back to love ?

Lissa Frye returns home from the Navy hoping to find a different future—one which includes a husband, marriage, and a family, until news from her sister impacts Lissa’s personal life and derails her plans.

Kurt McKintrick, having lost his best friend to an IED in Afghanistan, has returned to help the man’s mother run a horse rescue ranch. Images of war plague him, and thoughts of anyone else he might love falling victim to an untimely end, distance him from the person most likely to help.

Eleven-year-old Jayden Clarke seeks to fill the ache in his heart from his father’s death two years before. But his life is turned upside down when the rancher who befriended him is found dead, the horses neglected, and the dog missing. When authorities arrive to investigate, Lissa and Kurt, estranged after a former relationship, are forced to meet again. Lissa must confront images from her past and Kurt struggles to live with his present truth.

Will Jayden be the catalyst that draws Lissa and Kurt back together for a happily ever after?

SPOTLIGHT ON BOOK 2

“LOVE CALLS HER HOME”

Kurt did as instructed, stopping the pickup so the hood pointed away from the property. A tall, lithe form popped out from the big barn doors, the image caught in his side mirror. Kurt’s pulse raced.

Every bit as professional and alluring as she’d been in her Navy uniform the day he’d met her, Lissa stood waiting, hands on her hips. She wore a brown shirt and green pants denoting her current position, the trim uniform accentuating every curve. Her hair dangled in wispy curls about her face, the mass of brown she only let down in private, with friends—with him—still captured in a neat bun. He gave thanks she hadn’t worn her hair down today or his resolve would have flown out the window, along with the shreds of his heart.

He licked his lips, lifted his baseball cap, and ran a hand through his hair. Glad he’d taken time to shave this morning, he followed Peggy’s lead as she stepped from the cab. He watched Lissa’s face, waiting for recognition to appear in her eyes. His heart thumped like the foot of an animated rabbit.

A heavily tattooed fellow, head wrapped in a red-and-yellow bandana and left ear sporting an earring, approached from the back of the room. Though Rudy didn’t know him, the man’s gaze penetrated his and the purposeful stride toward Rudy made him nervous. He glanced around to see if any others sat in the vicinity, but he remained the solitary diner in the corner. The sailor spoke to different ones as he passed them, but his attention remained focused on Rudy. As the big guy reached the table, he broke into a wide grin, a day’s growth of beard shadowing his jaw. “Hey, there. I’m Gonzales.” He stuck out his meaty palm, the little finger missing its top joint.

“Taylor.” Rudy stood and grasped the outstretched hand—muscled, calloused, and confident.

“Nice to meet you.” Where did these characters come from?

Gonzales gestured for him to sit, grabbing a side chair beside him. “I saw you bow your head over your food a few minutes ago, and I said to myself, you must walk in faith.”

Lissa couldn’t imagine city-boy Kurt working at a horse rescue facility—mucking stalls and stacking hay. His experience with farm animals could be bundled in a shell casing. What would Kurt think when he discovered she’d sent him a dirty little filly? Or when she stood waiting by the barn as he drove up? If there was a more original way to get reacquainted, she didn’t know what it might be. She couldn’t wait for Tuesday.

A KITE ON THE WIND

She hadn’t grown up on the Oregon coast and assumed the north Pacific was all surf and sand. She’d never have guessed the shore could be covered in white, nor had she seen it this way, even in pictures. Mounds on the beach turned into oversized marshmallows. Driftwood transformed to fanciful fences. Did this happen often? On the sand? In November?

Yet here snow fell—sloppy, fat flakes fluttering down like a curtain of white fairies on a theater’s stage opening night. The quiet drift of the airborne dancers made her pulse race, their presence evoking memories from her past—images she’d tried to forget.

It is said that dreams are just that: only dreams. But believe me, this is not always true. Some dreams are as real as the dreamer.

Thanks to their dreams, dreamers can receive the special visit of eternal wisdom that has inspired the creativity of great inventors, scientists, musicians, and even writers throughout the ages.

This creative wisdom is not always the type that appears to the eager conscience. Sometimes, a Defiler, a destroyer of dreams, is the one who tries to appear before the dreamer. These creatures were once humans, but they allowed their pain and desire for revenge to take over and seek the same miserable fate for the one who dreams.

You must not fear — Dream Guardians, also known as Kelsdrant, will always protect the one who dreams, even with their own life. They are people of flesh and bone, just like you and me, or at least they are on Earth.

The following story is dedicated to the fun, extravagant, and enlightening life of Julian Fox, the Dream Guardian.

Be prepared, dear reader. It is time to dream, laugh, reflect, and even maybe cry.

Welcome to the Land of the Wise Dreams.

Read an Excerpt

from Chapter 1: The Fox Family

There is no perfect family. This is a universal truth, but if the imagination of a pair of mischievous minds is added to reality, the result can be an explosive combination that shuts the door to normalcy.

Sonia and William’s marriage is an example of how patience can be extended to the absolute limits. After all, parental love can only tolerate so much nonsense from the ingenuity of their children, especially when they happen to be Julian and Nicholas Fox.

This outlandish story begins at the crazy end of a pleasant vacation. The two brothers, Julian and Nicholas, were enjoying the afternoon heat near the banks of the river that crossed their ranch. They lay in the shade of an enormous tree, listening to the torrent of water as if it were a magical lullaby.

Julian, the eldest, was twenty-one years old. He had just completed his university studies and the memories of experiences with his classmates were still fresh in his mind. Nicholas, the youngest and last of the two children, was twenty years old and he was still studying in college.

They stayed silent for several minutes with their eyes closed, hoping that a miracle would occur and the family vacation would continue for a while longer. But, resigned to returning home in just two days, they decided to make the most of nature’s sweetness.

About the Author: E. J. Miranda is an avid reader, an enthusiastic traveler, and a passionate author. Her great sense of humor and love for nature have granted her a rebellious writing style: Her approach describes the adventures of life but in such a way that each reader can have an individual take on the matter. Her inspiration comes from her curiosity about other countries’ cultures and peculiarities. A few countries in particular that spark her curiosity are Colombia, Italy, Costa Rica, England, Belgium, Mexico, Spain, and the United States. Her favorite places to visit are historical sites and museums, locations that allow her to explore important and even overlooked details. She currently lives with her husband in Colombia but frequently travels to Houston to visit her daughter and son. E.J. Miranda has a degree in tax accounting, but she prefers interacting with people to calculating their taxes. To learn more about her life and work, visit http://www.ejmiranda.com.

Launch – Note from the Author

Hello Readers! I’m so happy to be a part of this book tour featuring my newest Heartwarming novel, Trusting Her Heart, Book 3 in the Meet Me at the Altar series. The Matthews brothers are still hunting for information on the man their widowed mother is dating. They never expected their search would uncover so many secrets. . .

Andi’s Book Reviews – Review

“You’re on pins and needles while you’re waiting for the big revelations to happen, because at the same time, you want Logan and Serena to be able to fall for each other in a big and honest way and to work things out. And I love the town of Golden. It sounds like a quaint place I wouldn’t mind visiting one day. I am looking forward to more stories from here.”

Paulette’s Papers – Excerpt

As they walked through town, it was all Logan could do not to take her hand in his. This wasn’t a date, he had to keep reminding himself. He suspected she had information about the man he’d been hired to investigate. He needed to keep his wits about him. Yes, Serena was beautiful, but she clearly had secrets he needed to ferret out.

As they passed the park, fireflies flitted about in the entrance. Serena laughed, clearly enchanted.

“Oh, my goodness.” She pulled her phone from her back pocket. “I have always wanted to do a series of cards featuring fireflies.” After snapping a few pictures, she scrolled through the gallery. “I can’t think of anything more beautiful than twinkling lights coming from these tiny creatures.”

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

Trusting Her Heart is entertaining and endearing, with a town full of characters I can’t wait to spend more time with. The romance simmers with chemistry and tension, and the first kiss is hold-your-breath sweet. Randel weaves a theme of trust, belonging, friendship and family into a layered plot that will keep you absorbed in the story until you’ve reached the end. I look forward to more time with this series, the town, and the characters!”

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt

Serena pointed down. “Turned ankle.”

He kneeled down before her, his hand lightly grazing her skin as he examined the injured joint. An unwanted but undeniable shiver rushed over her. Good grief, he was only being a concerned citizen.

“I’m fine,” she told him, trying to shift away as his warm fingers palpated the bone.

“You should probably have it checked out,” he said, rising when he got the hint she didn’t want him in her personal space.

Red Headed Book Lady – Review

“I adored this story!!

Tara has done a wonderful job writing it. She has done an excellent job of bringing to life these wonderful characters and their feelings. Serena’s especially. You could feel her fear of being found out oozing out of the book and hitting you head on. So you definitely know that there’s going to be a great story here. . . . I strongly recommend this book.”

Cover To Cover Cafe – Review

“Randel is absolutely awesome with her work. Her characters, both main and secondary are wonderfully chiseled and come to life within the pages. Her ability to make the reader feel a true part of the story is incredible and I recommend this heart warming, captivating, romantic read. . .”

Nicole’s Book Musings – Excerpt

“What’s got her upset?” Carrie asked as she walked into their circle.

“Green-eyed monster,” Heidi quipped.

Serena sputtered over a denial that didn’t quite reach her tongue.

Carrie peered at the guests, not having to be told the topic of the conversation was Logan. “He’s not interested in her.”

Despite herself, Serena asked, “How can you tell?”

“Because I sat across the table from you two and trust me, Logan only had eyes for you.”

Hallie Reads – Review

Trusting Her Heart is a sweet story of family and friendship, home and hope. I thoroughly enjoyed this trip to charming Golden, Georgia with Serena and Logan, and I think other readers of contemporary romance will, too. Add it to the TBR!”

Jorie Loves A Story – Review

“What gives you the best joy of course is watching how Ms Randel knits her characters closer together at moments where they’d prefer to remain isolated, alone and single. She doesn’t let them root there in their own self-pity, but rather attempts to push them towards the people who have unconditional love to share and friendship which will last longer than a rumour. This is a series that is about working through your problems, trusting in yourself to have the change to repair the past and finding a place as calm as Golden to renew your spirit as you redefine your path.”

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

Kathryn Cooper Writes – Review

“If you enjoy Heartwarming Romance with family, friendships, and some good laughs then read this book. Some of life’s trials feel unbreakable. Some hard times have to be pushed through. Trusting Her Heart by Tara Randel is a wonderful read full of the ups and downs of life.”

Locks, Hooks and Books – Excerpt

“I always loved Golden this time of year,” he said.

Grandmother turned in her chair to look at him. “You could love it again, you know.”

“I don’t see that happening.”

“Really? And what about Serena? Could she make you love living here again?”

He sent a sideways glance to his crafty grandmother. “Not very subtle.”

“I’m beyond subtle. I adore Serena. I see you two falling love.”

If only she knew he was halfway there.

Remembrancy – Review

“Family, friendship, and finding a place to truly call home (a place where you are surrounded by people who love you no matter what your past mistakes) are themes that run throughout Trusting Her Heart. The romance is sweet and intense, and Randel brings more characters onto the page who I hope to get to know better in future books.”

E-Romance News – Excerpt

“Good night,” she said, slipping behind the wheel.

As she drove away, he was conscious of the prickly awareness he’d tried to dismiss ever since he’d met her. There was something about her he couldn’t ignore. An energy that drew him to her despite his good intentions to keep it purely professional between them. His instincts, however, told him she was going to be nothing but trouble.

Pause for Tales – Review

“I really enjoyed watching these two characters on their road to happily ever after and all the side characters just added that specialness: especially Grandmother. This was a sweet romance in a small town with a bit of family drama that made for a nice escape.”

Splashes of Joy – Review

“There’s a lot going on in this book. Of course romance, but it was pretty light on the Romance, a little suspense added in, and the cozy little town where everyone knew everyone else. And they were ok with it. I really enjoyed this read, and I encourage you to pick up a copy for yourself. I think you will enjoy it as much as I did.”

janicesbookreviews – Review

“I loved the grandmother in this book. She enjoyed playing matchmaker. Serena has a shop, and Logan grandmother works there. She is trying to play matchmaker between them.”

underneath the covers – Excerpt

Logan’s gaze wandered to Blue Ridge Cottage of its own volition. He wondered if Serena was involved with the guild. Would she be at the tea party? If so, he could use the opportunity to question her some more.

Or simply enjoy her company.

Yeah, there was that.

Teatime and Books – Review

“Such an amazing book, with so much sweet passion and romance! . . . Her characterization is amazing and I really fell in love with Serena and Logan. If you love a really sweet romance, then this is the book for you!”

Remembrancy – Review

“But what tipped the scales for me in this book were the characters. . . . Then add in Donovan’s troubled nephew and adorable, energetic niece, and Falling for Her Bodyguard becomes that much sweeter. I didn’t even mind that I had figured out who the stalker was fairly early on. Getting to spend time with Kelly, Donovan, Graham, Avery, and several of the radio crew more than made up for it.”

Locks, Hooks and Books – Review

“I love Falling for Her Bodyguard. I am giving it four and a half stars. I highly recommend this fun, clean, heartwarming and sweet book. I would be interested in reading more books by Amy Vastine in the future.”

It’s All About the Romance – Excerpt

A woman on her phone pushed open the door. “I understand you’re trying to protect me, but this is a little extreme don’t you think?” she said as she jogged down the steps and onto the sidewalk. Ending her call, she turned around and glanced up at Donovan. Her dark hair was pulled back into a ponytail and her eyes were covered by aviator sunglasses. “Well, come on. He’s going to send you to the station regardless of what I have to say about it.”

This must be the niece. Dressed in jeans and a black T-shirt knotted at her hip, she didn’t give him many clues as to what she might have to do today. Donovan could see why Dillon told him Captain was protective. She was attractive, albeit a tad rude. She stormed ahead before coming to an abrupt stop.

Red Headed Book Lady – Review

“This is a new to me author and already I’m in love!!

The author has done a wonderful job in mixing this story with the right amount of mystery . . . . I really liked the story.

It kept me occupied until I realized what time it was!! I didn’t even noticed the sun had begun to set tonight!!

I will be looking for more from this author!!!”

Pause for Tales – Review

“What a fun read this one was. I really enjoyed the give and take between the two leads, Kelly and Donovan. This being a stalker story the tension was always in the background giving a more forceful push for their relationship. . . . This was one story that was hard to put down for real life.”

Thoughts of a Blonde – Review

“I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet romance with a strong family foundation, lots of emotion and a hint of intrigue. The characters were very well developed, the story line was endearing and the overall outcome very satisfying. Really enjoyed watching this happily ever after evolve!”

Paulette’s Papers – Excerpt

He scooted his chair closer to Kelly’s and reached for her hand. “What do you want to do today? I was thinking we could do a little self-defense training.”

“I need to find a new place to live.” She held his hand in both of hers.

“You’re serious about that?”

“I can’t go back there. My lease is almost up. I was thinking about actually buying a place once I signed my new contract at work. When you’re in radio, you run the risk of having to move from town to town. A new contract at K104 means I can put down some roots finally.”

Onemused – Review

FALLING FOR HER BODYGUARD is a fantastic character-driven romantic suspense that I would highly recommend for anyone looking for something deeper yet still fun. I absolutely loved this read from the beginning that hooks you all the way to the satisfying conclusion.”

janicesbookreviews – Review

“I always loved books with kids in it. . . . I loved reading about the different activities they had. Loved the family environment that Donovan’s had with his niece and nephew.”

Nicole’s Book Musings – Excerpt

Donovan’s head hurt from trying to make sense of clues that added up to practically nothing. He only saw one solution to their problem. “I think we need to set a trap. I’ll have to coordinate with the other detectives, but I think we have you say something on the radio and you invite him somewhere to make amends. If he thinks you want to apologize, he could come into it without any thoughts of doing harm.”

Kelly cringed. “I don’t like that idea. Lying to trap this guy? I feel like that could backfire. What if he finds out I’m lying?”

Two Points of Interest – Review

“The novel was a fun and interesting read. The “stalker portion” of the story wasn’t the main pull of the novel but, it was a surprise at the end. Surprisingly, I didn’t mind that the romance took center stage because both characters were lovable and realistic. I thought the novel was a cute and romantic read.”

EmpowerMoms – Review

“This was a really sweet story! Romance…drama…whats not to like?! . . . I haven’t read any of the other books in the “Grace Note Records” series-they can be read as stand alone novels. This story kept my interest from beginning to end. I highly recommend this easy, heartwarming, fun book!”

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

“I don’t believe you aren’t good at everything and you don’t believe I’m as bad as I claim. That’s funny.” Kelly’s cheeks were hurting from smiling so much. “Maybe you can show me how to make something I can’t mess up. If I manage to make something edible on my own, it will prove I’m right about you and you’re right about me. We would both have to admit that you are good at everything and I am not as bad as I think I am. If I bomb, then you are right about you and I am right about me.”

The space between his brows wrinkled. “The way your mind works both fascinates and scares me at the same time.”

“I think that’s the perfect way to find out who’s right about who.”

Jorie Loves A Story – Review

“There was something wholesome and sweet about how this story resolves itself; as Vastine lets you take the adventure with Donovan and Kelly. In many instances, they were more caught inside the hours they spent with Avery and Graham; where they were laying down the foundation of a relationship but moreso to that, they were setting down a foundation for a family. Those hours were the most special of the story, as it is where you saw the barriers of grief and anguish starting to tumble down and where true healing could emerge. The kids needed someone as a mediator between themselves and their Uncle Donovan whereas where Kelly excelled at understanding what it was like to have a cop in the family, she also softened Donovan’s heart to accept that sometimes life brings unexpected circumstances that are good for the soul.”

Hallie Reads – Review

“I so enjoyed my time with these characters. Kelly and Donovan—plus the kids and the Nashville community—made reading Falling for Her Bodyguard such a delight. Any reader in need of a feel-good contemporary romance cannot go wrong with this book.”

Teatime and Books – Review

“These are such well-developed characters that I feel many will be able to relate to. Also, the plot just flows beautifully and one can’t help but feel a part of the community and world that Vastine creates. Impeccable writing and a very new-to-me author and one I will enjoy reading more from! If you love a sweet romance with a handsome yet deeply romantic and caring Hero, then this is the book for you!”

Harlie’s Books – Excerpt & Review

“I’m going to kiss you to prove there’s nothing going on,” he warned her, waiting for her to protest. She didn’t. Her lips slightly parted and she stared deep into his eyes, making it hard to breathe.

He leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. Softly, gently. Convincing himself that this made him feel nothing was hard to do when it made him feel so much. His whole body felt like it was on fire and she was both the flame and the balm that would take away all the pain. His hand cupped her cheek and he tilted her face upward so he could deepen the kiss just a bit. Her arms snaked around his neck and held him in place.

The whole world dropped away and there was nothing but Kelly and this feeling—this feeling he couldn’t begin to label. All he knew was he loved it and hated it at the same time. He wanted to push her away and pull her closer. Nothing made sense. Instead of giving him clarity, he felt more confused than ever.

“Buy the book. Read the book. Fall in love with Donovan and Kelly like I did. I dare you and come back to tell how much I was right. I can wait. Ms. Vastine has written another wonderful story about learning to trust, fall in love and believe in yourself.”

Andi’s Book Reviews – Review

“I loved this story. It was a hard one to put down to get a little bit of sleep. So don’t start reading it right before bed. It’s a great addition to the Harlequin Heartwarming Series. And like I said, I’m going to have to find more from this author and the Grace Note Records series now.”

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

Falling for Her Bodyguard is swoony and sweet with just enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat and riveted to the story. Each of the primary characters (Kelly, Donovan, Avery and Graham) are solidly drawn and multi-dimensional, and you’ll fall in love with each one. This story is delightful from beginning to end – a must-read for fans of sweet contemporary romance!”

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is an amazing way to teach kids the Old Testament! As I think about how much kids love comic books, how awesome is it to have Old Testament stories and characters come to life. And in a comic book setting with the graphics just like the graphics in a comic book, only they are Bible base graphics.

If you have a child that maybe doesn’t want to carry a Bible around, I’m thinking he will love to carry this Covenant Kids book around with him/her everywhere. Andrew Youngblood did an awesome job with creating this book, and Alex Campbell does a fantastic job with creating the graphics. I strongly encourage you to pick up a copy of this book and invest in your children or any child you think would love Covenant Kids!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

D9w-So3XsAIypV8

Andrew Youngblood has always been passionate about Scripture. He loved reading the stories in the Old Testament as a child. The first thing he bought with his own money was a Bible. When he went to college, he was excited to learn how all the stories fit together. He took several classes, but they were all boring and confusing. He searched for several years until he was finally able to understand how the Bible worked as one story. Once he understood, he was so excited to tell others that he became a teacher!
Andrew has been teaching Scripture to students of all ages for over twenty years. It was the inspiration of his own children that recently led him to write a graphic novel. This is ironic considering how awful he is at drawing. His kids say that even his stick figures are bad! Thankfully, Alex Campbell and the fantastic team at Sky Blue Ink are amazing artists and have turned Andrew’s Bible adventure story into a beautiful work of art!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Serena Stanhope has built herself a pretty cozy business with her adorable little cottage. And she has built it all herself. Though she has friends, she always keeps a huge part of her past a secret, that is, until she can fix what happened. But when handsome hunk Logan comes to town, she suddenly finds herself wanting to get to know him better. But several things bother her, the way he acts around his friend Deke, and the questions he asks her. But could this all be her imagination?

It took me a little bit to get into the story, learning who’s who with all of the characters. It may have been because this is the first book in the series I’ve read. But, hey, don’t let that bother you because a few chapters in and I was hooked. I love the sweet little town of Golden, Georgia and it fit so well with Serena’s cozy stationary (plus a lot more) shop. The characters are wonderfully created with care. Logan and Serena were both adorable, and I love the way the were so attracted to each other, even though they know it couldn’t be. The other characters were supportive of the two main characters, but I did get irritated at Deke because he was so rude to Serena. But it was Logans grandma who was my favorite, becaus and she was old enough to say what she wanted, and the others listened.

There’s a lot going on in this book. Of course romance, but it was pretty light on the Romance, a little suspense added in, and the cozy little town where everyone knew everyone else. And they were ok with it. I really enjoyed this read, and I encourage you to pick up a copy for yourself. I think you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Amish Convert Operation by Meghan Carver

Amish Convert Operation

Amish Covert Operation review tour

ABOUT THIS BOOK

She witnessed a crime

Can an agent in disguise keep her safe?

After Amish widow Katie Schwartz’s search for her reclusive brother results in a shooting and her finding a cryptic message, she must rely on federal agent Adam Troyer to shield her. But, undercover as a Plain man, can Adam save her brother’s life andprotect Katie? Trusting the handsome Englisch agent is already dangerous…but falling for him could risk everything Katie holds dear.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Being a widow with two daughters, Katie Schwartz is depending on her brother to help her. But when he didnt show up for several monthts, she was worried and went looking for him, but she found more than she was expecting. After being shot at, ICE agent Adam Troyer came to her rescue and pulled her to safety. Why an ICE agent in her neighborhood? Join the fun to find out in this Love Inspired suspense that will have you on the edge of your seats.

I enjoy Amish books and once in a while an Amish suspense comes along that makes the genre more interesting. I really enjoyed Amish Convert Operation, the suspense has the story moving at a fast pace and I didnt want to stop reading until I finished it. Even though there are a lot of differences between Katie and Adam, I really liked both characters. Katie was a strong women and dies her best taking care of her home and children after her husband’s death. And she has a strong faith in God, and it shows in her life. Adam’s grandparents were Amish, but his home life with his parents was anything but Amish.

As the two tried to solve a code given to them by Katie’s brother, and as they spent more time together, the attraction grew. The story is action packed and fast paced but the romance, not so fast, but it’s there and its nice. And the main thing I enjoyed about this book is the way the author weaved the Lord and faith into the story and into Katie’s life, making it clear that we can do nothing without the Lord. Our strength comes from Him.

If you enjoy Amish fiction, and especially of you like suspense, you will love this book. I encourage you to pick up a copy and read it for yourself! Book Tour Grand Finale for
Single Dad to the Rescue
By Cari Lynn Webb

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you’ll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch – Note from the Author

Welcome to my blog tour with Prism!

I’m thrilled to be celebrating the release of my new book, Single Dad to the Rescue, in my City by the Bay Stories with Harlequin Heartwarming. Single Dad to the Rescue is a sweet contemporary romance that brings together animal rescuer, Brooke Ellis, and paramedic, Dan Sawyer. . .

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

“A Single Dad to the Rescue is – true to its imprint – heartwarming and sweet. It’s the kind of story that leaves you sighing contentedly after you turn the last page, the kind that shows you that good-hearted people who put others first do still exist, the kind that reminds you that second chances sometimes show up when – and with whom – we least expect. The characters are equal parts layered, real, and compelling, and you’ll enjoy revisiting friends from previous books in the series if you’ve read those. If not, it works just as well as a standalone. A great read for animal lovers, rescuers-at-heart, and fans of sweet romance.”

Remembrancy – Review

“Webb gives readers a story of healing, of finding the courage to live life to the fullest after living through the worst kind of pain, and of the blessings (and yes, sometimes challenges) of living in a community that cares.”

It’s All About the Romance – Excerpt

“I saw the lights on.” He lifted several cloth shopping bags and his smile, then added, “Grocery delivery.”

Brooke wanted to close the door. His appealing half grin could disarm her if she was someone else. Someone who believed in fairy tales, storybook romance and that once-in-a-lifetime love could happen again. But she couldn’t shut the door. This was Dan, Rick’s son. And her stomach growled. “How much do I owe you?”

“I’m not interested in money.” He handed the bags to her.

EmpowerMoms – Review

“I enjoyed this sweet romance story! I liked the main characters Brooke Ellis, Dan Sawyer, his son and the grandfather. . . . Easy to read, great characters-loved it!”

Hallie Reads – Review

Though not without its complications, Single Dad to the Rescue is a sweet addition to Webb’s series. Any reader in need of a heartwarming contemporary romance could be delighted with this book—I know I was.”

Thoughts of a Blonde – Review

“An emotional journey of life, love and growth! Cari Lynn Webb pulls at our heartstrings time and again with the latest in her City by the Bay Stories series. . . . The story is sweet with a punch of sadness and held my attention throughout. Really enjoyed the richness of the characters and the connection they shared. Highly recommend!”

Splashes of Joy – Review

“Author Cari Lynn Webb does a really good job of weaving all of the past hurts and heartaches in both Brooke and Dan’s lives taking them on a journey that will finally give them the love and life they deserve. I enjoyed the animals, and it made me realize juzy how much fires and other disasters traumatizes the lives of our fur babies. The author does a good job with discussing the pets and their feelings. As well as Dan’s son Ben and his medical issues. The entire book was very well written, and I will look for more books from this author.”

Kathryn Cooper Writes – Review

Single Dad to the Rescue is a sweet clean romance read! . . . I felt heartwarming feelings build up throughout this read. Single Dad to the Rescue by Cari Lynn Webb is a romance with life building experiences which we can all relate to in different ways.”

Nicole’s Book Musings – Review

“The thing that I loved about this book the most is the feeling of hope through out the book. . . . I love the sense of community and coming together. Dan’s precious son is too adorable and I just loved the scenes with him and his friends. This book packed the feels and it’s one you can easily get lost in. I’m looking forward to more from this series.”

Jorie Loves A Story – Review

“The attention to detail and the care in which Webb describes the artfulness of healing through compassionate volunteering with rescue animals is part of what endeared me to this story. . . . This is a multi-layered story about the intersection of lives and the curious ways in which the heart leads us forward into a tomorrow that has more hope of promise than the past we’re trying to outrun. I loved the way Ms Webb composed this story, how she tucks us so dearly close to her characters and their internal battles; whilst providing us with a firm understanding about life, love, loss and the second chances we must choose to embrace if we hope to aspire towards a future filled with the hopefulness of a renewed sense of purpose.”

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

Evie’s love for the children was more than obvious. Dan’s love for his son would be just as strong. Just as protective. Ben was no doubt the reason for Dan’s white lie. Was Dan’s love only reserved for his son? Love. Where had that come from? She’d fallen in love before. The head-over-heels kind. The once-in-a-lifetime kind. She’d be too greedy to consider a second chance. Brooke reached for that invisible pause button to stop her tumbling thoughts.

A strong hand landed on Brooke’s lower back and settled as if to catch her when she fell. Brooke glanced over her shoulder. Dan stood just behind her, his smile gentle.

My Devotional Thoughts – Review

“First of all, this is squeaky clean romance with nothing offensive in it. [Moreover], this is a book that can be enjoyed in an evening, by the beach, on vacation…in short, it is a nice, quick read that will provide just the kind of clean romance fans of this genre crave.”

janicesbookreviews – Review

“The book is a beautiful story. I especially loved all the dogs and cats in the book — also the little boy. . . . This book was my first one by the author. I enjoyed her writing very much. I definitely will read more of her books. I loved all the characters in the book so much.”

Cover To Cover Cafe – Review

“I absolutely love Cari Lynn Webb’s writing style. She is highly talented and definitely an author that is quickly becoming one of my favorites. . . . If you love clean romances, sweet boys and lovable furbabies, then this is a story for you. Webb will quickly work her way into your soul with her work and leave you a fan for life. Great job and hats off to you, Webb! Can’t wait for more.”

Two Points of Interest – Review

“The novel was a cozy romantic read with likable characters and not so likable characters. I found Ben to be cute and loveable along with all of Dan’s friends. The author weaves the perfect amount of drama to keep readers drawn to the story and not become overwhelmed. Overall, it was the perfect romantic beach read.”

Harlie’s Book – Excerpt & Review

Ben’s absolute certainty softened Dan. That was all he’d ever wanted to give Ben: a safe home. One without chaos. One with stability and love.

Brooke shifted to look at Dan.

Again, her dark brown gaze pulled him in. Her wide soulful eyes called to him. Made him want to learn everything about her. Made him want…

“Yall, I have to admit that this is the best book in the series. Yes, I’ve read the others but this one has all the feels. . . . I just really connected with everyone in the book. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Webb does next.”

Peaceful Pastime – Review

“I have read a lot of books in the Harlequin Heartwarming line and while they have all been good, I have to say that this book is one of my favorites. . . . Overall, this truly was a heartwarming read with a wonderful storyline that flowed at a perfect pace. The characters are compelling and for those reasons, I highly recommend, Single Dad to the Rescue.”

Pause for Tales – Review

“Ben was cute and a smart kid. The animals added a nice extension for the humans to show their love. I could see just how big Brooke’s heart was. I enjoyed this second chance at love despite life’s circumstances story.”

each stop of the tour, you’ll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Meagan Davenport – Review

“I liked sooooo very much about this book. I found myself literally LOL-ing at times, to the startled reactions of those around me (on the train or at the nail salon). The author is downright hilarious, and I appreciated how she incorporated humor into some very serious topics.”

Candrel’s Crafts, Cooks, and Characters – Interview

Describe your book in 25 words or less.

To land her dream internship, a woman must nanny her ex-fiancé’s infant son and deal with his troubled teenage niece.

(I have five words left, so–) sassy, love/hate, comedy, drama.

Library Lady’s Kid Lit – Review

“Jessica Kate has written a novel that many teens can relate to. On one level it is about relationships and forgiveness. On another level it is about God’s love for us even when we think no one loves us and the people who should care the most about us fail. . . . I would not hesitate to add this to my K-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for high school age and adults.”

Rockin’ Book Reviews – Review

“This is a delightfully, entertaining novel addressing the topics of love, betrayal, facing problematic situations, forgiveness and other Christian ethics.”

Beauty in the Binding – Spotlight

Did you have a favorite character in this novel and who is it?

Jessica: This is a weird answer, but NICK! I know, he’s not a main character, but this teen math nerd has a Nirvana T-shirt, knows how to hot wire a car, and raises baby chickens as a surprise to cheer up his mother. He’s such a sweetie pie!

Bookworm Lisa – Review

“I really enjoyed this story of love, forgiveness, loss, and compassion. The characters are complicated and the author does a great job of describing them, how they are feeling, and moving them forward in a positive way. . . . I appreciated how they came back to their faith and trusted God to help see them through.”

Singing Librarian Books – Spotlight

SLB: What inspired the idea for this story?

Jessica Kate: Complicated answer! The actual plot – entirely fictional. But the emotional journeys? I started writing this book at 22, working a job that didn’t lead anywhere, single, and unsure where I fit in life. I felt like I was missing out on my purpose—and so did my main character, Natalie.

Peaceful Pastime – Review

“For a debut novel I thought that one was pretty impressive and I liked that author had characters from various age groups and blended them perfectly within the pages of this book. A story of family and friends and how at times we have to make sacrifices to help not only your loved ones but those who are need of help. too. . . . Overall this storyline is much more tender than I thought it would be and that’s just fine with me. I like the writing of Jessica Kate and I will read more of her work.”

Radiant Light – Review

“This book met all the things I adore in an inspirational rom-com. Jessica Kate handles tough subjects and real relationships well. The inspirational thread is woven throughout the book like a beautiful ribbon. I highly recommend this book.”

Life Is What It’s Called – Review

“It was dramatic narrative interwoven with romance, forgiveness and sense of family. It was interesting to read about the challenges in Natalie, Jem and Lilli’s lives and how they overcome their hardships and past. I would recommend reading it.”

A Modern Day Fairy Tale – Review

“In the midst of all the drama and heavy issues was just the right amount of humor to keep it a lighter and more entertaining read. . . . I personally really enjoyed it. It was still clean, just more real. As such, I could see that it could appeal also to a wider audience who might not generally prefer Christian fiction as well. This is a great, quick read that I would certainly recommend, and I cannot wait to see what Jessica Kate has in store for us next!”

I’m Into Books – Spotlight

Q. Do you write full time or do you also have another job outside of being a wonderful author?

A. I work full-time as a training developer at a small bank. It’s fun getting to use my creativity in a team context, especially when we make training videos. I like to pretend I’m Steven Spielberg 😉

Backing Books – Review

“I do think that this is a really good read. Natalie and Jem are an adorable couple, taking care of an adorable baby, and Lili is an amazingly relatable teenager. And the heavy, emotional scenes are balanced well with lighthearted moments that show the brighter side of life. There were a few moments which seemed unrealistic, but those played more into the comedic side of the story, making them easier to roll with.”

Among the Reads – Spotlight

Jessica, what would you like your readers to take away from Love and Other Mistakes?

Hope! Life, family and love can all be messy and scary—but God is bigger than the mess and brings us love and joy!

Uplifting Reads – Review

“There is a lot going on in this story! . . . In a way, these problems almost made the story seem a bit more realistic, because we often get plagued with multiple life events that cause stress and chaos. Life is not pretty; it is messy. . . . I also want to point out that while this is listed as a Christian contemporary romance, you are not going to have Christianity shoved down your throat. To me it was more of a way at looking at how even Christians do not have perfect lives. But these people are, at the same time, using their faith to help them through. . . . So I think readers who are not necessarily interested in Christian romances would also enjoy this one.”

Wishful Endings – Spotlight

What is one piece of advice your character, Natalie, would give us about love?

Natalie at the start of the book would bark a slightly bitter laugh and shrug, then change the subject.

Natalie at the end of the book would say that if you don’t understand how God loves you (and that your value has nothing to do with your good works or mistakes), then it’ll make your relationships much harder.

It’s when you get that clear understanding from God about your own value, then that love can more easily spill over to others.

Two Points of Interest – Review

“Natalie Groves has big dreams and hopes but, when her fiancé, Jeremy Walters, suddenly breaks up with her, she felt lost. Her father was then diagnosed with cancer, which left Natalie struggling to keep her family afloat while nursing her broken heart. With her grand plans in the rearview mirror, Natalie’s relationship with God is also stilted. . . . Overall, I think it’s a decent read for young adults.”

Just Your Average Reviews – Review

“This was a good debut novel! I loved the author’s writing style and voice! . . . I don’t often remember quotes or make note of them, but this one really stood out to me and touched my heart. “The truth is you are far more than a job, a ministry, or even a calling. You are a person created and saved by God, no matter what your job is or what you do in life.”

Overall, this is a good story.”

Angela Walker’s Reviews – Interview

1)What inspired you to first start writing this book?

The original seed of an idea was a story about a man and a woman who were raising a kid, but they weren’t a couple. From that I got the idea of Natalie nannying her ex-fiancé’s son and it all grew from there!

I adore love/hate stories, so the idea of ex’s having to work together is one I find endlessly entertaining! 😀

Splashes of Joy – Review

“This is a nice and interesting read. There is a lot going on in this story. . . . The author handles each situation going on in the story really well. . . . Overall, this debut novel is pretty good. It’s fun to read, and will keep you entertained for quite a few hours. I really think the younger generation would love this book, as in late teens and early 20’s.”

Locks, Hooks and Books – Review

Love and Other Mistakes is a good read. It has some cute, fun, and delightful moments that made me laugh out loud. There were some tearing up moments that made me want to grab the tissues. . . . I believe it is worth a read.”

Love and Other Mistakes
By Jessica Kate
Christian Contemporary Romance
Paperback, Audiobook & ebook, 352 Pages
July 30th 2019 by Thomas Nelson

Jessica Kate’s hilarious, romantic debut novel proves that some mistakes—including love—are begging to be made again and again.

Natalie Groves once had big dreams. But soon after her fiancé, Jeremy Walters, inexplicably broke off their engagement and left town, her father was diagnosed with cancer. Now tasked with keeping her family afloat, Natalie’s grand plans have evaporated . . . and God feels very far away.

Fast-forward seven years, and Jeremy is back in Charlottesville with an infant son and years of regrets. When his niece, Lili, lands on his doorstep in need of a place to stay, Jeremy needs help—and fast.

An internship opening finally presents Natalie a chance at her dream job, but she needs a second income to work around it—and the only offer available is Jeremy’s. They could be the solutions to one another’s problems, provided they don’t kill each other in the process. When they join forces, sparks fly. But they both know there’s a thin line between love and hate . . . and that love will turn out to be the best decision—or the biggest mistake—of all.

Praise for the Book

“A stunning debut . . . This tale of love and redemption will stay with you long after you’ve closed the book. A must-read.” —Rachel Hauck, New York Times bestselling author of The Wedding Dress

“Witty. Charming. Heartfelt. I could go on and on about Jessica Kate’s debut novel. From its highly relatable characters to its pitch-perfect dialogue, Love and Other Mistakes is a delightful, romantic read filled with just the right amount of sass. I lost count of the number of times I laughed out loud as I watched Natalie and Jem navigate their relationships, careers, and faith. Definitely one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read lately, and I can’t wait to see what’s next from Jessica Kate!” —Melissa Tagg, Carol Award–winning author of Now and Then and Always and the Walker Family series

Love and Other Mistakes wraps a poignant and warm look at relationships within a smart, sly, and knowing comedic voice. Readers of Sally Thorne and Bethany Turner will be immediately at home with Natalie: an all-too-real heroine who balances whip-smart agency with an endearing vulnerability and whose intersection with long-lost Jeremy helps her forge a path to confidence and discover the woman she was always meant to be. Kate’s unputdownable debut recognizes that all human relationships—familial, friendship, romantic—are worth the keen eye and clever insight of her talented pen.” —Rachel McMillan, author of the Van Buren and DeLuca Mysteries

“If you’re looking for a story with sass on top of style, or a fresh voice pumped full of fun, you need to read Love and Other Mistakes. Then after you’ve enjoyed this—and I’m confident you will—make a date with whatever this exciting new author writes next!” —David Rawlings, author of The Baggage Handler
