About

A murdered partner. A missing brother. Will Isabelle’s silence protect those she loves . . . or delay justice?

Police officer Isabelle St. John loves her crazy, loud, law-enforcement family. She knows they’ll be there for her when things get tough. Like when her partner is murdered and she barely escapes with her own life.

Izzy is determined to discover exactly what happened, and her investigation sends her headfirst into a criminal organization, possibly with cops on the payroll–including someone from her own family. With her dead partner’s brother Ryan, a handsome homicide detective, shadowing her every move, Izzy’s head is spinning. How can she secure justice for her partner when doing so could mean sending someone she loves to prison? And how will she guard her heart when the man she’s had a secret crush on for years won’t leave her side?

MY THOUGHTS  ON THIS BOOK

I love it when I can drown myself in on of Lynette Eason’s books! And Oath of Honor is one thill after another! With two families that live across the stree from each other heavy on the law enforcement jobs, Ms Eason has readers, including me, on the edge of their seats throughout the book. I could have read this in a day but I kept going back to re-read and savor each part of this story.

Isabelle St.John was in horror as she watches her police partner murdered in cold blood! And was that her brother Derek at the scene as well, and did he just save her life? She wasn’t sure but she would sure find out. Kevin’s murder takes law inforcement to its high when they find out the are dealing with more than they imagined and there are so many twists and turns in this story it will keep you guessing. I’ll admit, I didn’t know the person behind it all until the very end!

And I enjoyed the attraction between Issy and her partners brother Ryan as the investigation continues, of course Ryan has so stay in the background so he won’t do anything to hurt the case, being Kevin’s brother. But he made sure he knew what was going on. And he made sure Issy was protected. The sweet attraction warmed my heart in the mist of the tragedy and fast pass thrills!

If you are a thrills and chills kind of person, then this book is for you! Don’t miss out on this amazing story by Ms Eason.I received this book from Bethany House Publishers to read and review. Summer Plans by Karin Beery

8A34A6E6-CE6B-4E48-AC66-418C96118081

About the book:

Elementary school music teacher Callie Stevens thinks she’s finally figured out God’s plan for her life—she even made a list to keep her on track.

Moving in with her brother and reconnecting with her ex-boyfriend are at the top of the list. What’s not on the list is running into her childhood crush, Ryan. God wanted her to connect with Kyle, right?

Trying to figure out God’s plan is hard enough. But a dating-averse older brother, the young blonde who adores him, a pregnant best friend, and Callie’s continual mishaps make her wonder whether her best laid plans were truly God-inspired

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Summer Plans is a really fun and enjoyable book to read. I enjoyed the humor throughout the book, starting at the very beginning with Callie moving in with her brother, and finding out that her childhood crush was living with her brother as well. She is suppose to be at her brothers to find God’s will for her life, but even though she thought ex-boyfriend Kyle was God’s will, what was Ryan doing here? This was a big puzzle to Callie!

Most of the characters in this book are Christians, and their faith is a big part of their everyday life. And just like eveyone, their life took some twists and turns that challenges their faith, and these characters are anything but perfect. But I do appreciate the way the author weaves the Christian life so vividly in the lives of her characters. For anyone looking for a good Christian Romance, this is one you will want to read!

I received this book from Reading with Audra to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

About the author:

Karin wrote her first novel in 2007 to cope with her husband’s cancer diagnosis (no worries – he’s cancer free now!). With the support and encouragement of her family, she submitted that manuscript. That particular manuscript has not been published yet, but Summer Plans and Other Disasters, her first published book, releases in September 2018.

Karin writes contemporary and speculative fiction stories with a healthy dose of romance, but she’s also expanded her repertoire: she writes feature stories for the local paper, copy material for businesses, and blog posts for herself and others. She even edits (offering copy editing, fiction editing, and critiques through Write Now Editing Services) and teaches (she’s the Substantive Fiction Editing instructor for the PEN Institute and can be found around the country teaching writing and editing courses at conferences and at her local college).

When Karin’s not reading, writing, or editing, she enjoys cooking and baking. She plays the piano and sings (the key of E, please). She kayaks with her husband in the summer, watches football in the fall (Go Blue!), and enjoys Christmas lights all winter long. Shy but extroverted, Karin adores her nieces and nephew and loves spending time with her family.

SYNOPSIS:

Miss Eleanor Sheffield is a talented evaluator of antiquities, trained to know the difference between a genuine artifact and a fraud. But with her father’s passing and her uncle’s decline into dementia, the family business is at risk. In the Victorian era, unmarried Eleanor cannot run Sheffield Brothers alone.

The death of a longtime client, Baron Lydney, offers an unexpected complication when Eleanor is appointed the temporary trustee of the baron’s legendary collection. She must choose whether to donate the priceless treasures to a museum or allow them to pass to the baron’s only living son, Harry–the man who broke Eleanor’s heart.

Eleanor distrusts the baron’s motives and her own ability to be unbiased regarding Harry’s future. Harry claims to still love her and Eleanor yearns to believe him, but his mysterious comments and actions fuel her doubts. When she learns an Italian beauty accompanied him on his return to England, her lingering hope for a future with Harry dims.

With the threat of debtor’s prison closing in, Eleanor knows that donating the baron’s collection would win her favor among potential clients, saving Sheffield Brothers. But the more time she spends with Harry, the more her faith in him grows. Might Harry be worthy of his inheritance, and her heart, after all? As pressures mount and time runs out, Eleanor must decide whom she can trust–who in her life is false or true, brass or gold–and what is meant to be treasured.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

In Lady if a Thousand Treasures, Sandra Byrd does an excellent job of researching antique collecting and how each piece was appraised. It was fascinating to see the specifics of how to tell when a piece of glass art was modified to make it look authentic. It would take someone very skilled to tell the difference. And Miss Eleanor Sheffield was certainly that person in this story. My heart did go out to her as she struggled to keep the family business going despite all of the negative stuff and people she had to endure. With her father gone and her uncle’s decline, it seemed everything was against her. And then there was the barons legendary collection that was left to her as temporary trustee that added to her struggles. And her onetime boyfriend Harry, son of the Baron, and trying to determine if he was real or if he was selling off his dad’s collections for his own personal use. Miss Eleanor had her work cut out for her.

This was a story that took me a while to really get involved in, but I really enjoyed the ending. If you enjoy and are interested in historical glass art collections, this is an awesome story for you to read.

Legacy of Mercy

(Waves of Mercy #2)

By Lynn Austin

Christian Historical Romance

Hardcover, Paperback & ebook, 400 Pages

October 2nd 2018 by Bethany House Publishers

She Knew Her New Life Would Not Be Easy,

But Nothing Could Prepare Her For What Waits Ahead

Having returned to Chicago, young socialite Anna Nicholson can’t seem to focus on her upcoming marriage. The new information she’s learned about her birth mother continues to pull at her, and she hires Pinkerton detectives to help her discover the whole truth.

But as she meets people who once knew her mother and hears stories about the past, Anna soon discovers that some secrets are better left hidden. With pressure mounting to keep the past quiet, she discovers daily that her choice to seek God’s purpose for her life isn’t as simple as she had hoped.

When things are at their darkest, Anna knows she can turn to her grandmother, Geesje de Jonge, back in Holland, Michigan. Geesje’s been helping new Dutch immigrants–including a teen with a troubled history–adjust to America. She only hopes that her wisdom can help all these young people through the turmoil they face.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Legacy of Mercy continue the riveting story of socialite Anna Nicholson and her task at trying to find more information about her mom. Anna’s adoptive parents and her fiancée are ready for Anna to forget about her past and live for the future, but Anna needs to find the answers. But will Anna be able to clear her mama’s name.

Though I love both books in this series, I’ll have to say Legacy of Mercy is the better written one. But you definitely need to read the first book, Waves of Mercy first for the story to make sense.

I really like Anna and Dirk. Anna has such a sweet spirit. And even though she was raised with having the finer things, anything she could ask for, she enjoyed the simpler things in life. I love the way Ms. Austin writes the two time differences in such a smooth way. Sometimes the going back and forth between stories gets annoying, but not with this book, or the book before this. These characters seem so realistic, with struggles such as the things we all struggle with. And the most fun part of this book is traveling on the journey, watching Anna as she searches for her mama. and I love  how Ms, Austin weaves the Christian life throughout this entire book. And anyone reading can see what the gospel is all about Throughout this book. That’s what it’s all about!

This book was given to me by the publisher to read and review and post what I think about the story. This review offers my opinion only. The 5 Star rating is my opinion of how well the story flows, how well written, and just my overall opinion.

Praise for the Book and this series.

“Varying points of view, well-placed clues, and an interesting subplot about Anna’s grandmother welcoming Dutch immigrants to Michigan keeps the story interesting. Austin skillfully embeds her strong spiritual message into the actions of her characters, creating a wonderful historical tale that is naturally inspirational.”–Publishers Weekly starred review

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Malcolm MacGregor and Alanza Cantalamessa are from very different cultures and social standings, but that doesn’t stop the attraction between the two. Malcolm finds himself having  lunch at the Cantalamessa family restaurant  every day, just to watch Alanza, but he never really talked to her that much. Then Malcolm finds he’s getting a promotion that will keep him away from home for six months. So he decides it’s time to move fast and win Alanza’s love very fast so she can go in this trip with him as his wife.

I enjoyed this sweet Christmas story. Malcolm and Alanza are both interesting and intriguing characters that I begin to really like as the story unfolds. And I especially like the closeness of Alanza’s family, and their concern for her. The 12 gifts was an interesting part of the story. I found myself wandering what the next gift would be. And in the end, well that’s where you will need to read the story to find out what the real ending is going to be for these two wonderful characters. This is a sweet cozy Christmas story that everyone enjoying Christmas stories will certainly love. I highly encourage you to check out this wonderful book!

This Courageous Journey

About the Book

This Courageous Journey

Book Title: This Courageous Journey

Author: Misty Beller

Genre: Christian Historical Romance

Release date: October 9, 2018

As the fifth daughter in a family of nine children, Noelle Grant has spent her life working to be unique. Her love of stories helps define her goal—to be known around the country as one of the top news correspondents of her time. And what better way to uncover sensational stories than to travel through the mountain wilderness to visit the brother she hasn’t seen in years? The trip comes together perfectly as she plans to journey with family friends who will be settling in the same area. Her first inkling that things may not be as perfect as planned comes in the form of the mountain man they hire  as their guide for the final leg of the journey.

When Daniel Abrams agrees to guide the small group of easterners along his usual journey northward to the Canadian mountains, his gut tells him he’s making the wrong decision. But if he doesn’t take them, who will? The man in charge refuses to consider turning back. As they start out, Daniel can’t help but notice the woman traveling under the care of her friends. Though she appears too genteel to last long in these mountains, she soon reveals a strength that draws him more than he should allow.

As the dangers of this wilderness become more than the group bargained for, Noelle is faced with the choice to delay her journey northward or proceed alone with the man she’s come to trust against all reason. She never imagines her decision will place her—and the man she loves—in a situation more hazardous than any story her imagination could conjure.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This Courageous Journey  is the fourth amazing book in the Heart of the Mountain Series by Misty Beller. And Miss Beller’s Writing just keeps getting better and better. Join Ms. Beller as she takes you on another journey though the beautiful Canadian mountains.

Through her love of stories, Noelle Grant decides to visit her brother. Hehr brother that lives in the Canadian mountains wilderness. This journey should sure give her some stories to write about! And a Trapper in this wilderness, Daniel Abrams agrees to guide the small group of easterners along his usual journey, but this time, the journey was a very difficult one for everyone. After they have traveled a long bit, some choose to stay at a small fort the group has stopped at. Both Noelle and Daniel face challenges that make them wonder where they will end up on this journey. This is truly a book that the characters need to trust God for their every move. I love that Ms. Beller weaves the Christian life, trusting God in all of our situations and just depending on God for everything.

And I’m not really one to give away a lot of the plot, so I’ll just encourage you to pick this book up and read it! You will fall in love with these characters, just as I did. And you will be pulled into this amazing story more and more as the story goes on. I hope this is not the end of this series! I would love to read more of these Canadian Wilderness stories!!

Guest Post from Misty

Ever Been Struck by Lightning?

One of the fun things about being a writer is the crazy topics I get to research. Without giving away too much of the story, part of my research for This Courageous Journeyincluded uncovering what happens when lightning strikes a person. It turns out anything can happen!

Surprisingly, about nine out of ten people struck by lightning live to tell their story. Each person’s experience seems to be different—some are knocked unconscious, while others are horribly aware of everything happening. One person who was struck said it seemed as if time slowed to a crawl and a white haze surrounded him like a bubble, as excruciating pain shot through him.

People usually try to determine the path the lightning traveled through them, based on where burn marks appear on both skin and clothing, but sometimes that can be difficult if jewelry or coins were touching the body. Survivors might suffer a variety of short- and long-term effects, including—but not limited to—cardiac arrest, confusion, seizures, dizziness, muscle aches, deafness, headaches, memory deficits, distractibility, personality changes, and chronic pain, among others. That may sound like an awful list, but it does beat the alternative!

As I considered the possible effects of a lightning strike when I was writing This Courageous Journey, I was reminded once again how magnificent God’s creation is. Both the incredible power contained in one streak of lightning, and the beautiful inner workings of the bodies He created for us. As the Psalmist said, we are “fearfully and wonderfully made!”

Prism Tours Grand Finale Blitz – Sweet Home Montana

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

Book Tour Grand Finale for
Sweet Home Montana
By Lynne Marshall

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you can see snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

LaunchNote from the Author

I’m so happy to be back touring with Prism and am excited to share my new book Sweet Home Montana with everyone. This is book number three in the Charity, Montana trilogy for TULE publishing. It is the sweetest of all three books, in my opinion. Think Hallmark movies and you understand what I’m talking about. No angst or deep drama, but definite issues that both characters must face and “fix”, so they can move forward to a truly fulfilling life…

It’s All About the Romance – Excerpt

She had been volunteering at The Acres, as the crew called it, for three years, and Dr. Anderson insisted it was time to move on. To finish that degree in business. Get a job that paid more. In the real world. For Erin, Healing Heart Acres was as real world as she wanted to be. Because it was the place that helped put broken people back together.

Maybe I should start telling her how much I love giving the tour and that I never want to work with the animals again. The absurd reverse psychology trick made her smile.

“Oh, glad to see you’re happy about your schedule,” Elsbeth Anderson said, stepping out of nowhere, catching Erin mid-grin.

“As Erin and Wade’s lives weave together, there are naturally some bumps along the road. It’s all about how they work through those struggles to understand each other and to nurture the relationship they find themselves embarking upon, in spite of their personal struggles.

This was the perfect book to curl up with on a cold and rainy fall day.”

Wishful Endings – Excerpt

Mid-chew, he glanced at the door, surprised, and very pleased, to see Erin come in. He smiled, watched, and waited as she made her entry…

With a toddler?

“Choc milk,” the little brown-haired girl said, all excited.

“Just like I promised.” Erin was completely at ease with the child, guiding her toward the counter to make their order.

Unexplained disappointment surprised Wade, along with a slew of questions about Erin. Was she married? He hadn’t noticed a ring. But, since the kid looked so much like her, she was obviously a mother.

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

A flashy silver sedan drove up and parked in the lot, and a father-son duo straight out of the pages of Gentleman’s Quarterly magazine got out. The son was sullen, casting a suspicious gaze, as if thinking this was the dumbest idea he’d ever heard of. Breaking with GQ chic, he wore a silly knit cap that stood out for two reasons, it wasn’t that cold, and there was a moose face on it. It took confidence to pull off the look.

The father seemed determined, as many parents were when they arrived, usually after having Healing Heart Acres recommended by someone in the professional community—a teacher, therapist, or pastor. The parents often arrived hoping to find the magic solution to help their kid. Erin knew the look, even though it was on an exceptionally young-looking father’s face.

Paulette’s Papers – Excerpt

After the usual welcoming remarks for the acres each person introduced themselves. She saved the father and son for last.

“I’m Wade Conrad. Grew up in Charity, around an hour from here. Heard about Healing Heart Acres and wanted to check it out.”

He seemed pleasant enough, but got his story out fast, probably out of courtesy, unlike Mrs. Pimento who’d gone on and on. Yet, watching and listening to Wade excited Erin, a feeling she’d nearly forgotten where men were concerned. The immediate excitement he provoked in her, was also terrifying. Fortunately, she’d only have to deal with the younger version of him.

Colorimetry – Excerpt

Why did the man make her edgy? Probably because she’d rarely been around such a devastatingly handsome male. She glanced to Brent, sure to become as commanding as his father as he matured. He, unlike his attentive father, watched a ground squirrel instead of the corralled animals, probably not listening to a word she said.

She showed everyone how to hold grain on a flat palm, so the sheep only ate the food and didn’t nibble their fingers. Everyone always got a kick out of that, except Brent, who clearly wasn’t interested.

Getting Your Read On – Review

“If you are looking for a sweet, gentle romance to curl up with on a cool fall evening, then look no further. This book has all the feel good elements with likable characters and a believable story line.”

Stacking My Book Shelves! – Excerpt

A sharp whistle pierced the air, the kind cowboys used on cattle drives. “Erin!” Wade’s voice called out before she stepped inside. She stopped, turned, waited for the tall, dark-haired and green-eyed man to reach her. Again, an unwanted reaction circled her skin. But she wasn’t here to swoon, she was here to be helpful. He obviously had a problem with his son.

Cover Lover Book Review – Review

“Sweet Home Montana encompasses sweet, gentle, unhurried romance. It’s a story of personal growth—stepping out of complacency and exploring a deeper, more satisfying life.”

underneath the covers – Excerpt

To keep communication open, nervous as Erin was to have a conversation alone with Wade Conrad, she smiled and widened her eyes. “Need some extra encouragement?” Hoping he couldn’t pick up on her reaction to him.

He was probably used to it with all women. How could he not be, growing up looking like that? He probably didn’t even notice anymore.

“How’d you guess?”

“I’ve been reading Brent’s body language. He’s not here voluntarily, is he.” It wasn’t a question.

Remembrancy – Review

“Lynne Marshall gives readers a taste of small-town Montana life (and made me crave some huckleberry pie in the process) in this sweet romance…

Sweet Home Montana is a read to snuggle up with in front of a fire or under that plaid flannel blanket. Get ready for a little romance this fall.”

Nan Reinhardt’s Blog – Excerpt

Once Wade took off, Erin recovered and wandered over to Brent, who sat on a bench staring at his boots. “Mind if I join you?”

He glanced up. Rather than answering, he tipped his chin up, as in yes.

She sat gingerly on the other end of the bench. “I guess I read you wrong.”

He tossed her a confused and perturbed glance. “He tell you I don’t talk to him because he doesn’t like being my brother?”

Book Lover in Florida – Excerpt

“What’s the point of this place? Why should I come here?” Brent asked.

“How about, for starters, for the sake of a new experience?” Erin replied. “We offer a chance for people to learn about themselves by participating in activities like daily care routines with our animals. It’s a chance to do something good, too. Then all we do is talk about it afterward.” She carefully left out the part about talking about their feelings. “It’s no biggie.” She played it down, knowing how resistant some teens were about anything they were uncomfortable with. “A lot of teenagers wind up really enjoying it. By the way, the horses would rather hang out with their peers, too.”

Becky on Books – Review

“I really enjoyed Erin and Wade’s story, and was rooting for them to work things out from the very first page. The complications along the way were believable, and though resolved a bit easily, everything was still plausible. The secondary characters–including Brent, Rosie, and Diana–made the story feel well-rounded and Charity, Montana seem like a place I’d love to visit–and eat some pie.”

Locks, Hooks and Books – Review

“I enjoyed this sweet story. I felt connected to Erin Chase from the start. I love that she worked at a horse therapy center. What a unique profession!”

Inside The Mind of an Avid Reader – Review

“This book is gentle and sweet. Erin and Wade are wonderful.”

Teatime and Books – Excerpt

Wade stood in the back in the main house as the video history about Healing Heart Acres and equine therapy played. Instead of paying attention, he thought about how he’d wound up back home.

After a long pause in communicating with his father, Wade’s excuse being he was too busy, always too busy, his dad had called, and Wade had thought the worse.

“Dad? Is anything wrong?”

“No, Son, everything’s right, I mean great. It’s been ages since we’ve talked.” So true, and unacceptable, and that made his calling suspicious and Wade’s guilt-o-meter whirl.

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

“This is a sweet & cute romance set in more than one delightful small town with gorgeous scenery and a quirkiness apparently inherent to Montana. There is more ‘telling’ than i like (rather than showing me) and some of the Montana-isms felt a bit awkward with the flow of the story. But overall these characters will quickly win you over, and so does their story – thanks to Marshall’s warm writing voice and sweet plot. If you’re a fan of Hallmark movies, this is a great pick for your reading list!”

Lady Jane Disappears by Joanna Davidson Politano Spotlight

87EAB554-7B9E-4251-AE24-54B98EB35188

Description

Product Description

When Aurelie Harcourt’s father dies in debtor’s prison, he leaves her just two things: his wealthy family, whom she has never met, and his famous pen name, Nathaniel Droll. Her new family greets her with apathy and even resentment. Only the quiet houseguest, Silas Rotherham, welcomes her company.

When Aurelie decides to complete her father’s unfinished serial novel, writing the family into the story as unflattering characters, she must keep her identity as Nathaniel Droll hidden while searching for the truth about her mother’s disappearance–and perhaps even her father’s death.

Author Joanna Davidson Politano’s stunning debut set in Victorian England will delight readers with its highly original plot, lush setting, vibrant characters, and reluctant romance.

From the Back Cover

Lynhurst Manor is a house built on secrets . . . and the arrival of Aurelie Harcourt might reveal them all.

When Aurelie Harcourt’s father dies suddenly, he leaves her just two things: his famous pen name, Nathaniel Droll, and his wealthy family–who want very little to do with her.

As Aurelie struggles to find a home with her father’s family and learn the rules of society, she relishes in his parting gift–the beginning of his last story. The story she always wanted to hear, about her mother’s mysterious disappearance from the home where she now lives. To complete the novel, she’ll have to extract clues from relatives–and one enigmatic houseguest–who often seem reluctant to give them up.

“Emotional. Intriguing. Both haunting and romantic. . . . In her historical fiction debut, Joanna Davidson Politano delivers a smart plot that navigates twists and turns with a mixture of wit, intelligent characters, and a refreshingly original voice. Reminiscent of Dickens’s classic storytelling, Lady Jayne Disappears is a debut to remember!”–Kristy Cambron, bestselling author of The Illusionist’s Apprentice and The Hidden Masterpiece series

“Wonderfully unique, this compelling debut grabs you from the first intriguing line. A must read!”Laura Frantz, author of A Moonbow Night

About the Book

12AF1C62-D652-4BD6-8FD4-91B8E51086B0

Book: Indivisible

Author: Travis Thrasher

Genre: General fiction, drama

Release Date: October 23, 2018

A novelization of the film Indivisible, this is a story of love and marriage and finding each other all over again.

When Darren deploys to Iraq during the surge of 2007, he leaves behind his loving and supportive wife, Heather, and their three small children. Their marriage is the envy of the base, both believing strongly in the calling to serve in the military. Darren knows he’s there to support the troops in their darkest moments as their chaplain, but what he doesn’t realize is that he will face his own dark moments, which will have lasting effects on his marriage.

Meanwhile, Heather is creating a community among the other wives and families left behind. She rallies support back home, realizing the dangers the men and women serving overseas are facing, but she also begins to notice a change in Darren during their brief conversations. When he returns, he is no longer the man who left-the man Heather married. His greatest fear is letting her down, but instead of opening up to her, he shuts her out. Their marriage was so strong before. But how can they get back to where they were . . . or find a new way forward?

Indivisible is a story of sacrifice, marriage, and faith that will leave audiences full of hope even amid their most challenging times.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I’m sure many people thought Darren’s deployment to Iraq would not change his life or his marriage. He and his wife had such a strong marriage, but that didn’t stop the troubles that war drown couples in. Based on a read story, Indivisible was much more intense and emotional to read. Living two separate lives, it was difficult to really know how they each really felt, how they were really copping with life. Could their marriage ever survive? Would they find what they had before Darren was deployed?

Indivisible an amazing read. Travis Thrasher did an excellent job of creating a cast of characters that will grab hold of your heart and keep holding on. The vivid scenes are so realistic you will find yourselves engulfed in the story so much that it’s difficult to put it down! This is a book I highly recommend to everyone, because I think it’s a read anyone can enjoy. And keep a lookout for the motion picture by David Evans that this book is based on. I want to see the movie and see some of the scenes I’ve read about come alive on the screen!

More about Indivisible

This book is based on a true story, so we’d love for readers and moviegoers to meet the real Darren and Heather Turner:

Darren and Heather Turner both grew up in Georgia, and met in 1999 when Darren was working in campus ministry at the University of Georgia. (Darren is still a Bulldog at heart.) Heather was working as a recruiter for an organization that sends English teachers overseas, and Darren had just returned from a year teaching English in Mongolia when they met. Married that same year, they served another six years together in campus ministry and added three children to their family.

Through the husband of a friend of Heather’s, Darren learned that opportunities existed for service as a military chaplain. In 2006, Darren completed seminary, was commissioned in the Army, and deployed almost immediately. Their family’s experiences from this timeframe are the basis of the new movie INDIVISIBLE. Darren, who is on active duty, and Heather are passionate about serving military families, marriage counseling, and leading marriage retreats. The Turners currently live in North Carolina with their children Elie, Samuel, and Meribeth.

A Tale of Two Hearts cover

Book Title: A Tale of Two Hearts

Author: Michelle Griep

Genre: Christian Historical Romance

Release date: September 1, 2018

Innkeeper’s daughter Mina Scott will do anything to escape the drudgery of her life. She saves every penny to attend a finishing school, dreaming of the day she’ll become a real lady—and catch the eye of William Barlow, a frequent guest at the inn.

William is a gentleman’s son, a charming rogue but penniless. However, his bachelor uncle will soon name an heir—either him or his puritanical cousin. In an effort to secure the inheritance, William gives his uncle the impression he’s married, which works until he’s invited to bring his wife for a visit.

William asks Mina to be his pretend bride, only until his uncle names an heir on Christmas Day. Mina is flattered and frustrated by the offer, for she wants a true relationship with William. Yet, she agrees. . .then wishes she hadn’t as she comes to love the old man. And when the truth is finally discovered, more than just money is lost.

Can two hearts survive such a deception?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

A Tale of Two Hearts is a nice heartwarming cozy Christmas read. Not that the characters don’t have problems, they do, but throughout this story you can see the grace and love of our God in th situations that arise here. I just loved the inkeepers daughter, Mina and her attraction to William Barlow. So when William ask her to help with an unthinkable task, Mina quickly agreed. But then through the lies and deception, things get worse and the two were gonna have to come clean. But then there is William’s cousin and wife who are real jerks, to say the least. How would Mina and William ever get through this deception and live simple lives again?

You don’t have to read the first book in this series to read this second one, but both are so much much fun to read. Michelle Griep does a great job of creating characters that make this story so realistic and believable. There are many twists and turns in this story, some predictable, so not so easily predicted. So if you are looking for a short Christmas story to read for a little enjoyment, I encourage you to pick this one up. You will be glad you did!

Guest Post from Michelle

VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS FOODS

So, it’s September, and you know what that means? It’s back to school. Pumpkin spiced everything is just around the corner. And it’s nearly time for cardigans and colored leaves. But besides all these autumn staples, it’s also time to start thinking about Christmas, because it will be here before you know it. How about this year you plan ahead to serve some traditional Victorian food?

In my newest release, A Tale of Two Hearts, the heroine’s father is known for his annual oyster stew that he serves on Christmas Eve. Here’s a bit of the background on that tasty soup.

Victorian Oyster Stew

Oysters have been savored in Britain since the days of the Romans. By Victorian times, industrialization cheapened oysters to the point of them becoming a staple of the poor man’s diet and were a frequent fare served in public houses. This, however, depleted their abundance, and by the mid 1800’s, the natural oyster beds became exhausted, making it harder to find good oysters. While other foods were served as well on Christmas Eve, oyster stew was as common as goose or turkey.

Another Victorian favorite that goes great on a crisp evening is good ol’ hot chocolate, though in Dickens’ England, it would’ve been called something else.

Drinking Chocolate

What we now call cocoa or hot chocolate was called drinking chocolate in the mid 1800s. This beverage was a favorite among Victorian ladies. You can find recipes for it even from the Regency era (early 1800s) and here is one for you to make at home.

And last, but not least, who hasn’t heard of Christmas pudding? To our American ears, that sounds like a tasty dish that you’d eat with a spoon and slap a little whipped cream on top. Actually, it’s more like a fruit cake.

Christmas Pudding

Christmas pudding is quite a production, one that begins well before Christmas Day. In fact, it begins on Stir-Up Sunday, the last Sunday before Advent (which is five weeks before Christmas). This is why when Mina, the heroine in A Tale of Two Hearts, returns home from dinner at Uncle Barlow’s, and though it’s not yet Christmas, she sees the pudding moulds on the kitchen table.

If these tastes and the accompanying smells still aren’t quite enough to get you in the Christmas spirit, then snatch yourself up a copy of the second book in the Once Upon a Dickens Christmas series. A Tale of Two Hearts is sure to get you in the mood.

Excerpt

Jaycee tossed a paper towel in the trash and met Melissa’s gaze in the mirror over the sink.

“When are you going to tell him?”

“Tell who what?” Melissa asked as she dug in her bag for lip balm.

“Tell Justin you have feelings for him.”

Melissa froze. Blinked a few times and glanced at Jaycee. “What are you talking about?”

Jaycee rested her hip against the counter and crossed her arms over her chest. “Don’t play dumb with me. I see how you look at him, especially when he doesn’t know it.”

“He’s my friend and I’m glad he’s home.”

“Really? That’s it?”

Melissa shrugged and resumed her searching. “What more could there be?”

“You tell me.”

“There’s nothing to tell.”

“Then why don’t you date?”

Melissa gripped the tube of balm in her fingers. “I date.”

“Name the last time you went out with a guy.”

She racked her brain but came up empty. “College, maybe?”

“That was six years ago.”

“No…it can’t be that long.”

Jaycee arched a brow.

“Wait. I went out with Roger Pierce for a while.”

“Until he moved away.” Jaycee shook her head. “I’m telling you, you have it bad for Justin.”

Did she? Did that explain the tingles she’d been trying to ignore? Or had she been without a significant other for too long now?

Slowly spreading the balm across her lips, Melissa met her own gaze in the mirror. Clear brown eyes peered back, but a rosy red had crept into her cheeks. She recognized the look, had seen it on dozens of bride’s faces through the years.

Good grief, was she in love with Justin?

“Do you care for him as more than just a friend?” Jaycee asked when Melissa had been quiet too long.

“Of course not.”

Despite her words, Melissa flashed back to that Christmas Eve many years ago when they’d promised to be friends forever. How they’d carried through on the vow, remaining friends through high school and stayed in touch when he left Christmas Town for college. She understood why he didn’t return, so she’d made sure to visit him in Boston. Once their friends had started to marry, meeting up at weddings had become their thing. But was that good enough for her now?

Tossing the tube back in her purse with more pressure than she intended, Melissa closed the bag. Pushed her unsettling thoughts away. “You’re imagining things.”

With a shrug, Jaycee pushed from the counter. “If you say so.”

“I say so,” she said, yanking the door open to return to the raucous, overcrowded pub.

Uncovering the past can lead to an unexpected future . . .

Millie Sullivan plays a 1920s-era guest during tours of a palatial estate on the shore of St. Simons Island, Georgia, where her great-grandmother was a real guest ninety years ago. When Millie learns of a lost diary that may contain the location of a hidden treasure on the estate and reveal the identity of her great-grandfather, she sets out to find the truth of her heritage–and the fortune she desperately needs. But it won’t be easy.

When security guard Ben Thornton discovers her snooping in the estate’s private library, he threatens to have her fired. Still, her story seems too ludicrous to be fiction, and her offer to split the treasure is too tempting to pass up.

Get ready for a romantic escapade through dark halls and dusty corners that will have you holding your breath and sighing with delight.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

A mystery mixed with an attraction that just May turn into a budding romance, Liz Johnson gives readers a treasure hunt that will have you wondering and guessing what is going to happen next. When Millie’s grandma Joy mentions a diary and treasure in an old Chateau, Millie sets out to find the diary. The story’s goes to the beautiful old historic estate, Millie being a tour guide for tourist. When Ben finds her searching in places she shouldn’t be, she brings him in on the hunt, which he eagerly accepts because he was in real need for money as well. So what will these two find ont their treasure hunt?

I love everything about this story. The treasure hunt, the mystery found while searching. And Grandma Joy (I love her name, by the way), was a hoot! I love this sweet ladies’ character. She made the story fun for me. And the old historical estate was so very interesting, a lot of beautiful history, and some rather disturbing finds were discovered as well. There’s a lot going on in the book, to much to include in a review, so you will need to get this book and read it for hours if entertainment! You will not be disappointed in A Sparkle if Silver by Liz Johnson!

I received this book from The author and Revell Publishers to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

Author: Cara Putman

Genre: Legal Romantic Suspense

Release date: October 15, 2018

She had long given up the desire to be loved. Now she only needed to be heard. index

Jaime Nichols went to law school to find the voice she never had as a child, and her determination to protect girls and women in the path of harm drives her in ways both spoken and unspoken. As Jamie, now a criminal defense attorney, prepares to press charges against someone who wronged her long ago, she must face not only her demons but also the unimaginable forces that protect the powerful man who tore her childhood apart.

Chandler Bolton, a retired veteran, is tasked with helping a young victim who must testify in court—and along with his therapy dog, Aslan, he’s up for the task. When he first meets Jaime, all brains, beauty, and brashness, he can’t help but be intrigued. As Chandler works to break through the wall Jaime has built around herself, the two of them discover that they may have more to offer one another than they ever could have guessed—and that together, they may be able to help this endangered child.

This thrilling installment of the Hidden Justice series explores the healing power of resolution and the weight of words given voice. And as Jaime pursues delayed justice of her own, she unearths eternal truths that will change the course of her life.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

For a number of years I was a student aid at the elementary school my son went to. I worked with special education children and I saw child abuse in many different forms through the lives and actions of children. I am so glad Cara Putman wrote this book dealing with what happens when an adult presses charges against her abuser as a child. Though this story is fiction, my heart was literally breaking for Jaime, because she represents thousands of children today who are, or who have been, in real life situations such as what the character Jaime went through. If only each of us who care could take one child out of abusive living conditions and raise them with the love they deserve. But since we can’t, my prayer is for Delayed Justice to help as many adults and children as possible, come through their horrible situation.

Dane, Jaime’s abuser was a powerful, evil man that would do anything in his power to get revenge and clear his name. Ms. Putman does such an amazing job with her expert writing of this book that it seemed so real, the characters, both good and evil popped out at me from the pages and I really felt I was living inside this story. I even wanted to pray for Jaime I was so heartbroken for her. And yes I was heartbroken for what she has been through, but I was also so very proud of her that she was willing to fight the battle she knew was coming from her uncle, because she wanted to see justice for him, and keep him from harming others. And may her strong will and courage help those in real life make the same heroic choice as she did.

Jaime’s uncle Dane was clearly powered by satan because of his evil heart, but praise the Lord our God is all powerful and We must pray daily for Him to put these evil men to justice. And I could keep on and on forever about this book but I’ve only touched the surface. Only told the main facts of the story.  The rest you will find when you read this amazing story from on of my new favorite authors, Cara Putman. I highly recommend this book!! Everyone needs to read this story!

Guest Post from Cara

Delayed Justice was a hard story to write.

I’d known from Beyond Justice that Jaime had a hard story, but I wasn’t sure exactly what it was. She tried to hide from her past. She tried hard, but in the end it slowly spilled out. A young girl wounded deeply by someone who should protect her. And now as a professional young woman, Jaime is still fighting the shadows.

She believes she’s okay, or as okay as she’ll ever be.

Instead, she has to learn that there’s so much more waiting for her. Freedom from the chains of a past she didn’t choose. A love that will never end. And a God who has always loved her even when she questions His existence because of her past.

I think we’ve all lived that. There’s a place in our hearts that seems beyond His reach. For some of us, it’s a barrier to knowing Him. To others of us, it makes us question what we thought we knew about God. And for others of us, it presses us deeply into Him. Jaime’s book, Delayed Justice, explores this space. The space where some days we scream at the heavens Where are you, God?And the days we just curl into ourselves because life is too hard.

And in that space of shadow and light, God ultimately shines brightest. This is a truth that is slowly revealed through friends and The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe.
