One single clue.

Bailey Craig vowed never to set foot in Yancey, Alaska, again. She has a past, and a reputation–and Yancey’s a town that doesn’t forget. She’s returned only to bury a loved one killed in the plane crash, but then dark evidence emerges and Bailey’s own expertise becomes invaluable for the case.

The story was easy to read, the suspense was excellent, and the plot was intricate. The suspense part of this novel was good, as was the overall message of grace and forgiveness.

About

When Her Friend Goes Missing,
Every Minute Counts

Darcy St. James returns to Alaska to join a journalist friend undercover on the trail of a big story. But when Darcy arrives, she finds her friend has disappeared. Troubled by the cruise ship’s vague explanation, Darcy uses her cover as a travel reporter to investigate further.

The last person Gage McKenna expects to see during his summer aboard a cruise ship leading adventure excursions is Darcy. And in typical Darcy fashion, she’s digging up more trouble.

He’d love to just forget her–but something won’t let him. And he can’t help but worry about her as they are heading into more remote regions of Alaska and eventually into foreign waters. Something sinister is going on, and the deeper they push, the more Gage fears they’ve only discovered the tip of the iceberg.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

The McKenna family is back again with an amazing third book in the Alaskan Courage Series. And as usually, this book is filled with a lot of danger and fear, tension and drama, and we can’t forget about the heartwarming romance. If you read the first two books in this series, Gage and Darcy is not new to you, but finally, this is their story. I really like Gage, and hurt for him as he suffered the loss of his infant son. The tiny footprints he has tattooed so close to his heart is enough to break anyone’s heart. I enjoyed this book much more than Book two in the series, the main characters and storyline were much more realist and believable. But all in all, this is a wonderful series to read. And I just found out there will be a Forth book in this series, Yipeeee… Anyone loving Contemporary ficiton will fall in love with this book and its characters. I really encourage you to pick up a copy of Stranded, and while you are at it, check out Shattered and Submerged, and watch for the forth book in this series coming soon. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but they are much more interesting when you read the tree in the order that they are written!

The third book in Pettrey’s Alaskan Courage series ratchets up the action and suspense. It’s difficult to stop yourself from peeking ahead to the end, but the ride is worth the anxiety.

Totally, hands down, in love with this family and series!  I have not been this enthralled since the O’Malley series by Dee Henderson!  Pettrey does such an excellent job of developing the character of each and every family member, you can’t help but want to join in on their journey through life!

Book:  The Killing Tide

Author: Dani Pettrey

Genre: Inspirational Romantic Suspense

Release Date: August 2019

When one Coast Guard officer is found dead and another goes missing, Coast Guard Investigative Service special agent Finn Walker faces his most dangerous crime yet. His only clues are what little evidence remains aboard the dead officer’s boat, and the direction the clues point to will test Finn and the Guard to their limits.

When investigative reporter–and Finn’s boss’s sister–Gabby Rowley arrives, her unrelenting questions complicate an already volatile situation. Now that she’s back, the tug on Finn’s heart is strong, but with the risks she’s taking for her next big story, he fears she might not live through it.

Thrown together by the heinous crime, Finn and Gabby can’t ignore the sparks or judgments flying between them. But will they be able to see past their preconceptions long enough to track down an elusive killer, or will they become his next mark?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I love a good suspense/thriller, and this was a really good one to read! Gabby has threats on her life so her brother brings her home to stay with a neighbor friend, Coast Guard Investigative Service special agent Finn Walker. Who was involved in searching for the killer of two good friends. The thrills just keep getting better.

I have read many books by Dani Pettrey so I knew this one was going to be a good one. The realistic characters were easy to fall in love with. Well, Gabby did get on my nerves a bit because she couldn’t seem to listen to anyone. But she was still likeable, for me. There are several murders going on here, drug dealers, things that are usually involved in thrillers, and the author handled these things well. A few things were a little graphic and I had to skim through those parts, but again, things that happen in suspense/thrillers! Just want you to beware! And the story will sure keep you on the edge of your seat! I read this one in less than two days. I hated having to put it down in order to do other things but I had to!

Dani Pettrey is an awesome writer, one of the best when it comes to this genre! And I appreciate that she does weave faith in the lives of her characters. If you enjoy a good thriller, this one is for you. I highly recommend The Killing Tide to anyone who loves this genre.

Pettrey kicks off her new Coastal Guardians series with an intense blend of suspense, love, and faith. The Killing Tide features romance that’s as thrilling as the action, and faithful characters integrated seamlessly into a complex web of crime.

— Kate Campos BookList

The Killing Tide is the first book in my Coastal Guardian series. My husband was Navy, so why am I writing about the Coast Guard? Because I think their mission to keep our waters and our country safe should be highlighted more. Before I started writing The Killing Tide, I’ll admit I knew little about the Coast Guard. I had a friend in high school who joined the Guard right after graduation, but that’s about the depth of my experience with them. Then, my husband and I watched a movie called The Finest Hour.

If you haven’t seen it, I highly urge you to. It’s the true story of one of the most dangerous and daring rescue attempts in Coast Guard history. Boatswain’s Mate First Class Bernie Webber takes a small team to rescue the crew of the Pendleton T2 oil tanker, which split in half off the coast of Cape Cod during a brutal nor’easter in 1952. I won’t ruin the ending for you, but let’s just say it’s a wonderful testament to courage in adversity. After watching it, I knew I had to write a series about the Coast Guard. I began researching and came across the Coast Guard Investigative Service and my interest was highly peaked. After talking with Coast Guardsmen, both newly in the service and those long retired, I began to see the story weaving together like a movie in my mind. I hope you enjoy reading the CGIS Wilmington teams’ adventures, cases and…of course, romances.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Gage McKenna is arrested for murder of a friend, and his sister Piper is determined to prove he is innocent. Deputy Landon Grainger loves the McKenna family but because of the job, he has to find out the truth. Not satisfied with the police investigation, Piper launches her own, stopping at nothing, and listening to the advise of no one. Will Gage be found guilty? Read this book and find out the answer.

I have really enjoyed reading this Alaskan Courage Series and I love the McKenna family. The suspense and tension in the story kept me reading to find out just who was guilty of the murder, Gage or someone else. However, I stayed really annoyed at Piper, and everyone that let her have her way. She acted like a spoiled brat that was determined to get her way. Since she is not an investigation, does not work for the police force, why would everyone let her keep doing as she pleased? Including Deputy Grainger? Wouldn’t this be a danger to everyone involved? I am sorry but for me this just made the story not realistic at all, because I hope this wouldn’t happen in a police force in real life. I guess it all makes for a good story, just not a realistic one.

I do recommend this series for your enjoyment, because the first book is really good, and I am anxious to find out what happens in the next book in this series.
