About the Book

Book:  Promise Land

Author: Robert Whitlow

Genre: Christian Fiction, Suspense, Legal Drama

Release Date: January 14, 2020

Promised-Land-cover-673x1024With historical mysteries, religious intrigue, and political danger, Promised Land asks one momentous question: what if your calling puts you—and your family—in the crosshairs?

Despite their Israeli citizenship, Hana and Daud cannot safely return to their homeland because a dangerous terrorist ring is threatening Daud. Hana is perfectly fine remaining in the United States, working for a law firm in Atlanta, especially when she learns she’s pregnant. But Daud can’t shake the draw to return home to Israel, even if it makes him a walking target.

Hana is helping her boss plan a huge Middle East summit in Atlanta when Jakob Brodsky, her old friend and former co-litigator, asks for her help with a current case. His client is attempting to recover ancient artifacts stolen from his Jewish great-grandfather by a Soviet colonel at the end of World War II. Because the case crosses several national borders, he knows he needs Hana’s knowledge and skill to get to the bottom of what happened to these precious artifacts.

Meanwhile, Daud is called in to help a US intelligence agency extract a Ukrainian doctor from a dangerous situation in Egypt. While overseas, he can’t resist the call of Jerusalem and thus sets off a series of events that puts thousands of people in danger, including his wife and unborn child.

Bestselling author Robert Whitlow explores the meaning of family and home—and how faith forms the identity of both—in this breathtaking follow-up to Chosen People.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Robert Whitlow has a unique way of telling a story, and I enjoy his books. In Promise Land, I quickly fell in love with Hana and her husband Daud. They were a loving and Christian couple, and at times, I was wanting the strong faith Hana had. And I love Avi and the fun she brought to the story as well. The dangers in Daud’s assignments were scary, to say the least, and Hana’s faith through it all was amazing. But as readers follow their journey, it does get dangerous. What will happen to this couple? Will they be able to go back to their homeland?

For me, it took a while to get into this story, but after a while, it starts making sense, and I started enjoying this journey with Daud and Hana. There is a lot going on in this story, and you have to read the book to know the full effect. As I read through the book, I was in awe of the details this author used in describing each scene. I felt as though I was living the story with these characters. Daud and Hana are a very interesting couple to read about, and you will enjoy getting to know them. Author Robert Whitlow shows off his writing skills well in this book, I think the writing is phenomenal. He does such a fantastic job of writing in the personalities of each character, and weaving the Christian faith and lifestyle into their lives is done in a tasteful and subtle way that seems effortless.

If you enjoy a good clean, enjoyable with a bit of mystery and dangerous thrown in, I highly recommend Promise Land. If you haven’t read anything from this author, now is the time to start! You won’t be disappointed, this is for sure.

A House Divided

   By Robert Whitlow

Book Description

A father’s mistakes nearly cost his children everything. Now his children must unite to take on the most important case of their respective careers.

Corbin Gage is slowly drinking himself into the grave while running a small law practice in a small Georgia town. The assistant DA in the same community is his son Ray, poised for a professional breakthrough based on a job offer to work for the best law firm in the area. Roxy is Corbin’s daughter, a rising star associate in Atlanta for an international law firm that specializes in high stakes, multi-million-dollar litigation.

Against the advice of everyone in his life, Corbin Gage takes on a toxic tort case on behalf of three boys who have contracted non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma due to an alleged chemical exposure. The defendant, a herbicide/pesticide/fertilizer company, is the largest employer in the area. Because of the lawsuit, Ray’s job offer evaporates, forcing him to go to work with his father. Roxy’s expertise in complex litigation draws her into the drama.

As their investigation uncovers an audacious conspiracy to conceal dangers to their community, Corbin, Ray, and Roxy come to a personal treaty in their pursuit of justice. But they soon discover that burying a problem can have explosive results.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

In his new book, Robert Whitlow deals with alcoholism, and the difficult problems that are caused by this really bad problem. There is a lot of tension flying around because of Corbin’s drinking problem, and it didn’t help any when he takes on a case forcing his son to work for him. This is one of the best suspense stories I have read in a while. It will sure keep you on the edge of your seats. The characters are just like real! It all seems like reading something about a real family and real situation. Mr. Whitlow does a fantastic job of writing a story, and this is one of his best. I highly recommend A House Divided.

the confession

Book Description

In Holt Douglas’s line of work, there’s nothing sweeter than a confession of guilt.

Assistant D.A. Holt Douglas makes his living exposing lies and sending criminals to jail in Ashley County, Georgia. His job is always easier when defendants, instead of remaining silent, blame someone else or try to excuse their actions. With a confession in his hand, Holt knows a guilty plea will soon follow.

But lurking in Holt’s past is a dark secret that could end his successful career and possibly his relationship with Angelina, his hoped for fiancé.

When Holt reopens a cold case involving the death of the town’s wealthiest businessman-allegedly killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest-Holt doesn’t believe it was suicide. Instead, he suspects murder.

As he investigates, Holt’s own guilt threatens to destroy him and the cause of justice he’s sworn to serve. While he knows his own confession could absolve him of his sin, it could cost him his future. Will he survive long enough to uncover the true crime that this small southern town has been hiding?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

What if you had a secret that goes back ten years, and if it comes to surface, you could very well spend time in jail. Would you confess and come clean? This is the life of Holt Douglas. Douglas is a young DA working in a Prosecutors office that makes sure criminals are brought to justice. But what about his own case? Can he find the truth that happened ten years ago, or will he turn himself in and have a future of jail time?

Robert Whitlow pulls you into this story and keeps you engulfed in the plot  throughout this entire book. I love that he weaves Scriptures from the Bible into the lives of his characters and plot. I was in awe reading this entire book. I found myself looking at things in my own life, and the things I needed to confess and get straight before God. This is truly a book that will show you sin in the lives of believers, and shows what happens when confessing, repenting and asking for forgiveness. And it also so wonderfully shows the powerful love, mercy, grace and forgiveness of out Lord! What a wonderful book for everyone to read. I haven’t read one of Robert Whitlows books yet that I didn’t like, and this one is just over the top!

The Choice

by Robert Whitlow

About the Book:

One young woman. Two very different roads. The choice will change everything.

Even as a pregnant, unwed teen in 1974, Sandy Lincoln wanted to do the right thing. But when an ageless woman approached her in a convenience store with a mysterious prophecy and a warning, doing the right thing became even more unclear. She made the best choice she could . . . and has lived with the consequences.

More than thirty years later, a pregnant teen has come into her life, and Sandy’s long-ago decision has come back to haunt her. The stakes rise quickly, leaving Sandy with split seconds to choose once more. But will her choice decision bring life . . . or death?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Wow, this is one good book! I haven’t read many books on adoption, and am really glad for the opportunity to read this one. Robert Whitlow has a unique way of writing that draws you into the story and captures you until way after the book has ended. I kept going back and re-reading parts of it because it is so good!

Cheerleader Sandy Lincoln find herself pregnant by her popular football boyfriend. All of her dreams for life are now dashed, Brad is trying to talk her into marrying him, but does he really want marriage, or does he trying to make sure Sandy gets an abortion so their little ‘problems’ will be over? And Sandy doesn’t know what to do. Between Brad and her family, things are getting even more complicated.

This book starts out with highschool student Sandy pregnant, and ends up with Sandy, thirty-three years later and involved in the life of a 16 year old student who is pregnant. Will Sandy give this student the same advise she was given when she was in the same situation? What decisions did Sandy make for her unborn child? Get these answers and more when you read the interesting and exciting novel “The Choice.”

This book is just so good I can’t begin to explain it all. And it would ruin it for you if I did. So I just highly encourage you to grab a copy for an enjoyable read. It is one of the best books I have ever read, and I think you will feel the same. I appreciated how the author shows that listening to God’s voice when He speaks to us, and following what He wants us to do, makes all of the difference in our lives. You just can’t go wrong with this book!

My Review

First of all, I can’t wait until the sequel to this book comes out! Life Support is another amazing thriller with characters and twists and turns that capture you from the first page. I like the way Whitlow’s characters come to life, with real life situations that people face every day. And he uses these to write a story that will grab hold to you and not let go until the last page. And I especially like the way he weaves the Gospel of Christ and Biblical principles into his characters lives. His is such a professional writer that you feel as though you are living the story right along with the characters. The characters in this book are so real I sometimes think about praying for them, then I realize they are just fictional!

If you like thrillers, then this book is a must read for you! Go out an purchase a copy, and I believe you will be purchasing the other Whitlow books as well.

I was captured in the first chapter of this amazing book. Tom had lost everything, his father, his girlfriend, his job, and even his cat, everything he thought was important. As he goes back to his Georgia hometown to wrap up his father’s law business, he finds things he never expected to find and find trouble he never dreamed possible. His plans to quickly and easily close out his father’s practice was not to be. Money was found in a secret bank account and finding out the owner of the large amount was up to him. What secrets did his father have, and what would he find out as he investigated the mess he had to clean up.

I love Christian suspense and this one was especially thrilling with its legal content. The characters created by the author were so real and believable I lived the story right along with them, laughing, hurting, getting angry and all of the other emotions so perfectly written. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this entire book! I couldn’t put it down until I finished it! Robert Whitlow is a fairly new author for me and I will definitely look for his books from now on. I recommend this book to anyone liking suspense, mystery, thrillers; it is all here in Water’s Edge.
