MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I enjoy reading book such as this one that takes place during the Revolutionary War. Ms. White does an amazing job describing the historical scenes, as well as the political issues, to make you feel like you are living in the story. At first I had a little trouble getting into the story, but after a few chapters, it started to get interesting. I really like Lyse Lanier. Her feisty sweet personality draws attention to her, in a good way, bringing her struggles to life. Her strength and courage helps give her strength to overcome the issues life brings her. I found myself glued to this story, eager to know what the end would bring. I am looking forward to more from author Beth White. I received this book from Revell to read and review. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This was my first book by Beth White so I didn’t know what to expect, and don’t let the cover fool you! I thought it would be a delicate romantic story, but that is not what it is. There is romance, but the rough situations that happen in this book takes the story to a different level that what I though. And I will say,  The Pelican Bride was much more than I expected. The story was interesting and intriguing and the time period and setting of this story was interesting for me. I haven’t read a lot of books during this era so to see how the French and the Native Americans  lived during that time and all of the vivid details of each scene in the book, the story did a very good job of keeping my attention.

Sisters Geneviere and Aimee travel to American to find husbands, but they didn’t expect their journey to be quite like it turned out. Geneviere had an outstanding and feisty personality and wasn’t afraid to speak up, and it doesn’t take her long to find a husband. But life was not easy in this New World they were developing, and the struggles were almost more than they could handle at times. I had never really thought about how it would be as the people worked to establish the new colonies, and the difficulties they had to face, but Ms. White brought these times to life as she had us follow the journey of these characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction. In The Pelican Bride, you will find an exciting twist on historical fiction, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
