MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK 

Wow! I love The Lizard Who Loves A Blizzard by Shelley Larkin and Michael John Sullivan. This adorable story about a Lizzard that wants to see snow will sure win your children over this winter. Larry the Lizzard wished and wished for snow to come until one day, yes, you guessed it right. One day it started snowing. I so much enjoyed the little journey with Lizzy the Lizzard as he shows all of his friends it is snowing and his friends agreed with him as they watched h I s excitement, and most of his friends were just and excited. I feel using an animal like the lizzard is a very clever idea from these authors. The illustrations by Yanaisy Puentes Cruz are so adorable. I love the vibrant colors both on the cover and inside the book. I also love the characters expressions the illustrator captures. The illustrations sure help bring this story to life and your children will love how the illustrations and story fit together so very well. I think this would be a perfect book for elementary school libraries as well as classrooms and daycare classrooms. You sont want to miss this precious book, a book I’m giving Five Stars. I strongly encourage you to check this one out.

Are Writers Afraid to Share What’s in Their Hearts and Minds – Writers should share their unique ideas without fear

Some of my proudest moments in writing are when I’ve authored a book that stirs the imaginations of the reader as well as creates a discussion filled with intellectual conversation. I’m afraid we have slipped in recent years to respect one another’s opinions or conclusions. 

We live today in a judgmental society, and it’s enhanced by the toxic social platforms that are readily available for confrontations to accelerate and for hate to thrive between readers who have never even met. 

It’s a whipsaw of fanatic frenzy, people assuming the worst of one another, snapping verbally if you do not share the same opinion. Whatever happened to an intellectual, give and take, discussion without the constant clashes? 

In the past, writers were unafraid to stand alone in the crowd and express what others may truly feel but didn’t have the courage to say. In fact, it’s how to stir the consciousness of the masses. 

Today, if you write a story that shares an opposite thought, there is no dialogue. There is no give and take. It’s their way or the highway. 

I encourage and authors to use your pens and computers to share unique stories and ideas. 

Write without fear. 

Push forward with ideas others may not possess the same will to explore. Society is enriched by various ideas. Society loses when we are conformed to think alike and if you do not believe like he or she, you should be silenced. 

Do not let anyone silence you. I may not agree with you on what you may write, but I’ll be the first to stand by you and protect your First Amendment right. 

If we do not protect the First Amendment, this country is no different than any tyrannical society. 

The First Amendment is for you as it is for me. 

Your pen is your sword. Use it without fear.

 

 

Meet the Authors:

 

Michael John Sullivan is the co-creator of The Lizard Who Loves a Blizzard, Nick Knitley and The SockKids. He is also co-developing three other animation series, including the Dr. Neverme and Dinomike projects. Sullivan has written several children’s books, including a Digimon series book with HarperCollins Publishing. In addition, Michael has written five novels, receiving awards and best-selling status.His first book, Necessary Heartbreak, was published by Simon & Schuster and was named by the prestigious Library Journal as one of the best books in 2010. Sullivan previously advocated for the homeless, drawing off of his own experience of riding the New York City trains at night for one winter. He has written articles about the plight for CNN.com, The Washington Post website, The Huffington Post, Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Patch.com. Before he took up living among his animated characters, Michael worked for ESPN, Rival.com, Scout.com, and the Sporting News, covering high school and college basketball. He is a former board member of the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless.

 

 

 

 

Shelley Larkin is the co-creator of The Lizard Who Loves a Blizzard, Nick Knitley and The SockKids, and is co-developing other animation series with Michael, including the Dr. Neverme and Dinomike projects. Shelley is involved in all aspects of the animation ventures, including marketing and promotions, and merchandising of books, videos and other products.One of Shelley’s passions is the Destination Imagination (DI) worldwide learning program for kids K-12, where she served as Director in the greater Sacramento area. Focused on creative problem-solving techniques, hundreds of thousands of children are served by the program each year, supported by thousands of volunteers. Shelley was presented with the DI Spirit of Discovery Award in recognition of her outstanding commitment and devotion to the global program. Michael and Shelley’s initial collaboration was co-authoring a children’s short story, “The Sock Kids Stand Up Against Bullying”, a nationally distributed book developed in concert with Destination Imagination. This story creates awareness of an important life lesson for children, and shows how The SockKids can deliver these messages through animation and books. ​
