MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
I knew there were lots of things dog owners who have rescue dogs need to do, but when I listened to this book, I found I didn’t know much at all. In Beyond Flight or Fight: A Compassionate Guide for Working with Fearful Dogs, Sunny Weber gives dog owners a wealth of information about owning a dog. From the fears the dog faces, to gaining the trust between dog and owner. A family member of mine got a rescue dog about 8 months or so ago and there’s much of what Weber says about rescues that I can see in their little dog. Now I know a little bit better how to handle this sweet doggie. I will purchase a copy and gift it to them.
If you have a new dog or puppy, and especially if it is a rescue or it was adopted from a shelter, this book is a must read for you. In fact I think anyone adopting a dog should have this book on hand. And even if you have a puppy, there is so much in this book that can help you tremendously. It would be for your good as well as your new puppy or dog. This is one book I highly recommend.
I had the honor of listening to this book through Audible, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Richard Riema very much as her read this story. He did a nice job with the different voices as well. I look forward to listening to more books that he does the narration on. I’m giving Beyond Flight or Fight: A Compassionate Guide for Working with Fearful Dogs by Sunny Weber Five stars.
