Colors of Character, Steve Skipper’s Story

Skipper’s story is nothing short of extraordinary.” – CCM Magazine review
With no formal training, Steve Skipper has broken down walls of racism in the world of fine art. God radically saved Skipper when he was a member of a notorious Birmingham, Alabama, street gang and immediately his life was transformed. Focused on his new-found faith and his talent for painting, Skipper faithfully seized opportunities that only God could have provided and he quickly began gaining notoriety in the sports world for his meticulous artistic style of super-realism. Now, Skipper is continuing his journey, painting the stories of the pioneers of the Civil Rights movement.      “Colors of Character is a remarkable, quality documentary.” – Dove.org review

MY REVIEW OF COLORS OF CHARACTER

Colors of Character is the story of talented world class sports artist Steve Skipper. Steve had a very difficult life from the beginning, that lead him into a life of drugs and later a dangerous to be a gang member. This is an incredible documentary film that takes us on a journey of Steve’s young life and what led him to church that wonderful night when God saved him. To hear the story of how God transformed his life starting that night is one of the most incredible stories I’ve heard. If there is doubt in anyone’s mind, Steve’s life proves how God can save anyone that comes to Him. And not only that but He can transform anyone’s life into an incredible life journey, if only you will give your life to Him and let Him work His will.

I enjoyed Colors of Character so much. And I love what Steve said about its not the color of anyone’s skin. And I hope this is one thing people take from this movie. In today’s world there is so much hate and ugliness about blacks and whites, but Jesus doesn’t look at color, He looks at the heart. I enjoyed listening to Steve, and his humble spirit. And his art, WOW!! I had heard of Steve Skipper but I don’t know how I haven’t seen his art work. He is an amazing artist and his paintings are incredible.

I hope you will watch Colors of Character and get to know this awesome person, Steve Skipper. I give this move 5 stars.

About the Movie

Paul (Faulkner), who goes from the most infamous persecutor of Christians to Christ’s most influential apostle, is spending his last days in a dark and bleak prison cell awaiting execution by Emperor Nero. Luke(Caviezel), his friend and physician, risks his life when he ventures into Rome to visit him. Paul is under the watchful eye of Mauritius (Martinez), the prison’s prefect, who seeks to understand how this broken old man can pose such a threat. But before Paul’s death sentence can be enacted, Luke resolves to write another book, one that details the beginnings of “The Way” and the birth of what will come to be known as the church. Their faith challenged an empire. But their words changed the world.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS MOVIE

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS MOVIE

I don’t watch a lot of movies, but because of all of the raving reviews, I had to watch his one. And as other have said, I felt as though I was back in the early Bible days of Paul as he lived his life here on earth. I was in awe of how the flashbacks creates as atmosphere of spiritual yearning as Paul writes several letters to Luke. As well as the visits between the two as Luke spends time with Paul in his last days. Being a Christian and knowing a lot of Paul’s story, things like Luke being able to get Paul’s story enough to write the book of Acts was just so neat to watch acted out. Because as a Christian, I know it’s not just acting, it’s truth.

I think the actors did an outstanding job of portraying the Bible character they played. And to put the emotions and such strong feelings into the story made it even more real. This is a movie that every Christian should watch. No matter how much you think you know about Paul’s Journey, watching this movie will Paul to life in a whole new way! I’m about ready to watch it for a second time!
I received this DVD movie from FrontGate Christian Blogger Network to watch and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal  Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.
