Book: Murder on the MOOR, A Drew Farthering Mystery

Author: Julianna Deering

Genre: Historical Mystery

Release Date: February 2017

At the urgent request of an old school friend, Drew and Madeline Farthering come to Bloodworth Park Lodge in the midst of the Yorkshire moors, a place as moody and mysterious as a Brontë hero. There have been several worrisome incidents around those lonesome rolling hills–property desecrated, fires started, sheep and cattle scattered. Worst of all, the vicar has been found dead on the steps of the church, a crime for which Drew can discern no motive at all.

Few in the town of Bunting’s Nest seem like suspects, and Drew can’t keep his suspicions from falling on his friend’s new bride. Do her affections lie more with her husband’s money and estate, while her romantic interests stray to their fiery Welsh gamekeeper? As the danger grows ever closer, it’s up to Drew to look past his own prejudices, determine what’s really going on, and find the killer before it’s too late.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

When Drew and Madeline Farthering comes to Bloodworth Park Lodge in the midst of the Yorkshire moors to solve a mystery, they sure wasn’t expecting to suspect the wife of their friend who called them there. But everything seemed to point to her. But the case wasn’t that easy. There were a lot of weird things happening that just didn’t make sense. It seems that Drew and Madeline have their work cut out for them.

Each book in the Drew Farthering Mystery series gets better and better. Murder on the Moor captured my attention from the very first page. There were so many twists and turns, so many people of interest, when I thought I knew just who the guilty person was, something else happened. This book is so well written, and the characters are so well created and developed throughout the story, at times the situations seemed so real. I loved this story and really enjoyed helping Ms. Deering find the real criminal! If you enjoy a cozy exciting, clean and entertaining book, this is a must for you! I highly recommend Murder on the Moor to anyone who loves to read.

Julianna DeeringABOUT THE AUTHOR:

JULIANNA DEERING has always been an avid reader and a lover of storytelling, whether on the page, the screen or the stage. This, along with her keen interest in history and her Christian faith, shows in her tales of love, forgiveness and triumph over adversity. A fifth-generation Texan, she makes her home north of Dallas with three spoiled cats and, when not writing, spends her free time quilting, cross stitching and watching NHL hockey. Her new series of Drew Farthering mysteries set in 1930s England debuts with Rules of Murder (Bethany House, 2013) and will be followed by Death by the Book (Bethany House, 2014).

ABOUT THE BOOK

Downton Abbey Meets Agatha Christie in This Sparkling Mystery

Drew Farthering loves a good mystery, although he generally expects to find it in the pages of a novel, not on the grounds of his country estate. When a weekend party at Farthering Place is ruined by murder and the police seem flummoxed, Drew decides to look into the crime himself. With the help of his best friend, Nick Dennison, an avid mystery reader, and Madeline Parker, a beautiful and whip-smart American debutante staying as a guest, the three try to solve the mystery as a lark, using the methods from their favorite novels.

Soon, financial irregularities at Drew’s stepfather’s company come to light and it’s clear that all who remain at Farthering Place could be in danger. Trying hard to remain one step ahead of the killer–and trying harder to impress Madeline–Drew must decide how far to take this game.
