With the support of our generous partners, Operation Blessing provides strategic relief on an ongoing basis through core programs such as disaster relief, health and medical care, hunger relief, and clean water.

Along with our faithful supporters, we put a special emphasis on not only providing physical relief to those in immediate need, but also equipping them with new knowledge to create sustainable solutions to combat poverty. Operation Blessing and our partners are devoted to being God’s hands and feet in the world. We’re committed to listening to the needs of each community we serve, instead of telling them what we think they need, addressing the core issues behind poverty, rather than only treating the symptoms.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS COOKBOOK

As I was reading about the ministry of Operation Blessing from the materials I have and their website, I was in awe of how much, and how many people they are able to help. The reason for this cookbook is to raise money to carry on their mission. This recipe has tasty recipes that you and your family will be able to enjoy for many meals. I only tries a couple of them, but I plan to try more in the near future. We don’t eat a lot of international foods, but I found I can substitute ingredients to give it a flavor we can and will eat.

If you want to help this ministry by giving a donation, or purchasing this cookbook for a donation, you can do so at their we site here: https://www.ob.org/about/  remember to give as generous as you can afford. These precious souls whom Jesus gave His life for are worth everything we give.

Grand Finale for Dawn King by Janalyn Voigt

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you’ll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch – Note from the Author

. . . DawnKing is the fourth book in the series and wraps up many story threads from earlier books. It can be read as part of the series for a fuller experience or read as a stand-alone. Following the stops on this blog tour will offer you glimpse into the lives of engaging characters within a vivid storyworld.

—Janalyn

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt

Elcon and Mara had been among those who’d escaped with him from Torindan. If he had anything to say in the matter, they would yet avoid capture. Surviving a clash with two of Freaer’s finest seemed unlikely, but Kai could delay the assassins.

The giant raptor birds flapped their ragged wings and snapped the air with pointed beaks in a display of ferocity. Sunlight gleamed along their rider’s swords, no doubt honed to wicked sharpness.

Kai’s skin crawled. Garbed in the red of Freaer’s elite assassins, the welke riders glared at him across the intervening distance, a space closing with alarming speed.

Uplifting Reads – Excerpt

The assassins took turns punishing Kai, allowing him no rest.

Flecht’s sides heaved but bore Kai without balking. Kai faced his tormentors, panting like an old man. Neither he nor his wingabeast could go on like this. If the assassins took his life they might spare Flecht.

Kai bowed his head and waited for the end to come.

Paper Ink & Lizard – Review

“As the last book in the series, DawnKing had a very triumphant and satisfying ending. . . . I enjoyed DawnKing just as much as I enjoyed the rest of the series and I recommend you pick up this series today!”

Locks, Hooks and Books – Excerpt

Something felt wrong.

A grove of strongwoods lifted twisted branches against the deepening sky. The trees bordered a meadow thick with undergrowth. Anything could be hiding in there.

She should go back. Curiosity lured her onward. The bend wasn’t far. She started forward, darting glances into the shadows. The sensation of someone watching crawled over her skin. Mara’s steps slowed. She should persuade Rand to come back with her.

Movement flickered at the edge of her vision.

Bookworm Lisa – Review

“. . . This book lived up to my hopes and expectations.

The best part is there is a happily-ever-after for several of the characters. Two of them, in particular, made me very happy. 🙂 If you follow the series you should know what I mean. If not, you should read it to find out.”

Christy’s Cozy Corners – Excerpt

“What shall we do with him?” A burly man, one of several who remained beside Rand, asked in gruff tones.

“Blindfold him.” The outlaw leader gestured with his head. “Take him to camp.”

“Must we?” the burly man screwed up an eye. “I’ve an idea he’s trouble.”

“You’re probably right, Trader, but he and I need to finish our talk.” He circled Rand, looking him up and down. “Something tells me he’s not who he seems.”

Wishful Endings – Excerpt

“Milady…” Eathnor moved to her side. “My brother is doing everything within his power to help the Lof Shraen.”

“Except remove him from this cave.” Dorann’s frustration came through despite the soft tone he used.

Anders’s eyes gleamed as he glanced back from the cave entrance, where he stood guard. “Do we dare risk leaving?”

“It might save the Lof Shraen’s life,” Eathnor answered, “but at the risk of ending it. With Pilaer’s warriors searching the forest for those fleeing Torindan, we could all be killed.”

Remembrancy – Review

“In the fourth and final book in her Tales of Faeraven series, Janalyn Voigt weaves a story of a group of people split apart, surrounded by danger, and all trying to arrive at once destination. . . . I was pleased to find that Voigt managed to resolve everything I’ve been following since book one. Plus, she did it in a way that left me satisfied with the end results.”

Adventures Thru Wonderland – Review

“I really love how this series is written, and I enjoyed this one perhaps most of all! So many twists and turns, and I loved all the surprises!”

Tell Tale Book Reviews – Review

“Whether you have a child in need of some good reading, want to read the book(s) aloud to your family, or if you yourself enjoy fantasy tales, the Tales Of Faeraven have you covered. It’s an excellent series and one that I would not hesitate to recommend.”

Among the Reads – Excerpt

She stirred as if irritated. “I didn’t seek you out to talk about Searcher, if that’s what you mean.”

He glanced up, surprising an expression of sorrow on her face. “What do you want with me?” He went on in a softer tone.

Her chest rose and fell on a sigh. “Only to say goodbye. We’ll ride for Cobbleford soon.”

Jypsylynn – Review

“Overall, this story is thrilling, dramatic and thought provoking with courageous sincere characters. The journey is imaginative and unique, and the author beautifully renders the background setting. It has been my pleasure to read each book, and I recommend for anyone looking to start a new series in the new year.”

ACME Teen Books – Kids, YA & NA Too! – Review

“All in all, I was pleased with how it ended and how Janalyn pulled the entire series together. With four books, that took some serious skill on her part. . . . If you enjoy a good fantasy series, I recommend this one. It has all the requisite characters and elements with plenty of ups and downs to keep you on your toes then pulls together beautifully in the end.”

Grand Finale for The Matchmaker’s Rogue by Regina Scott

WORDPRESS HTML

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you’ll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch – Note from the Author

Welcome to Grace-by-the-Sea, a Regency spa village where everything is designed for your comfort and delight. Just don’t look too closely at those who pass silently in the night. . .

Bookworm Lisa – Review

The Matchmaker’s Rogue was a pleasure to read. I loved the characters. The eccentric residents and the “crazy” aunt all added a wonderful feel to the book. . . . It was the perfect blend of romance, mystery, and townsfolk. I can’t wait to see who is matched in the next installment of the series.”

Jorie Loves A Story – Excerpt

One of the reasons Jesslyn Chance loved the village of Grace-by-the-Sea is that it rarely changed. The same hot mineral water had been bubbling out of the limestone cliffs since before the Romans had landed in the little horseshoe-shaped cove below. The same families fished from the cove, farmed the chalk Downs above, worked at the spa, married at St. Andrew’s Church, and had babies who grew up to marry and have more babies.

For the last hundred years, the same sorts of people, from young misses nervously awaiting their come out to venerable military gentlemen nursing war injuries, had come to drink the spa waters and bathe in the sea. The village had grown up to cater to the needs of its guests, boasting shops and conveniences few of its size ever managed. It was all very civilized.

Until you introduced a rogue.

Among the Reads – Review

“It was such fun reading and trying to figure out who to trust and who the smugglers were. . . . While things wrapped up neatly, they didn’t. The ending hints at much more to come in this series: more mysteries to unravel, more adventures. I can’t wait!!”

Christy’s Cozy Corners – Review

“I’ve read books and novellas by Regina Scott before, and I am a fan! Her characters are always so well written and lively. The characters in The Matchmaker’s Rogue are no exception. . . . The Matchmaker’s Rogue is a mystery that will keep you guessing and a romance that will leave your heart feeling happy. I can’t wait for more Grace-by-the-Sea books.”

Beauty in the Binding – Excerpt

“You see it, don’t you?” her aunt whisper, nodding toward the man approaching them across the polished floor of the Grand Pump Room. “He’s a pirate, a rogue. He’s out to steal our greatest treasure.”

Jess took a deep breath and raised her head. “Larkin Denby is no pirate. His mother and sisters live in Upper Grace. Very likely he’s merely here for a visit.”

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt

“Good afternoon, Mr. Denby,” she said, launching into her prepared speech. “Welcome to the spa at Grace-by-the-Sea. I am your hostess, Miss Chance, and this is my assistant Mrs. Tully. If you have any questions or would like an introduction, you have only to ask.”

His head snapped up. Though he held her gaze only a moment, as was proper, she felt as if he were memorizing every feature, from the blond curls clustered around her face to her gloved hands resting on the table beside the book. His smile bloomed, and something inside her bloomed with it. “Miss Chance. How nice to see you and your charming aunt again.”

Andi’s Book Reviews – Excerpt

“Mr. Denby will get on with the others famously,” she assured her aunt, letting go of her cautiously. “Look, he’s talking with the general like a gentleman.” The two men chatted, strangers making idle conversation as so many of their guests did. Then Lark moved on, leaving the general smiling as he rubbed the paunch straining his waistcoat.

“Mr. Denby doesn’t fit in the spa,” Maudie argued. “He doesn’t look the least bit ill. He has no limp, no squint, no sign of a scrofulous cough.”

“Neither did most of our visitors to arrive this summer,” Jess pointed out. “Not everyone comes to the spa because they are ill.” She tidied the stack of pamphlets, noticed her hands were trembling, and shook them out. At this rate, her aunt might suggest that Jess take the waters!

Locks, Hooks and Books – Review

“I love Regina’s writing and this one is probably among one of my favorites I have read by her to date. . . . I am giving The Matchmaker’s Rogue five plus stars. I can not wait to see what happens next in the Grace by the Sea series.”

Becky on Books – Excerpt

“I am your devoted servant, sir,” he told the commissioner. “But surely there are other ways to identify these smugglers than to spend my time sipping the waters.”

“I don’t care if you sip them, dunk yourself in them, or pour them on the ground,” the commissioner had replied, face tight and eyes steely. “Our source says the man we’re after sails from Grace Cove, and we have reason to believe he moves among the gentry, perhaps even the aristocracy. Where else would you expect to find him but at the spa?”

I’m All About Books – Excerpt

Yet it was her eyes that drew him. Large, wide-spaced, and a delicate blue, they made her look as if she were perpetually amazed by the world around her.

He and Jess had been close when he’d visited eight years ago, the only two people that young at the spa then. They’d spent every day together, talking, walking, dancing at the assembly, attending church. Nothing had come of it. Nothing could come of it. They were too different—her content with life, him determined to see and do more. Still, perhaps she would indulge in a little gossip now.

“Mr. Denby?” she persisted in that soft, lilting voice. “Might I be of assistance?”

Rockin’ Book Reviews – Review

“I loved this story about Jesslyn and Lark. It is a sweet romance but has a lot more to offer with all that happened in Grace by the Sea and the spa that is so important to the families that live there. . . . I highly recommend this book to others to read and enjoy.”

Remembrancy – Review

“Scott combines intrigue, romance, and small-town loyalty with a setting and characters I want to visit again. Not to mention an ending that makes me want to discover more about this sleepy little village. If you’re a fan of Regency and haven’t read Regina Scott’s books yet, you’re missing out.”

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

“Regina Scott’s books are always great reads, but I’m pretty sure that The Matchmaker’s Rogue is my favorite of hers so far. I can’t wait for book 2 to release – especially after the way this book ends! A story with romance, intrigue, adventure, and endearing humor, The Matchmaker’s Rogue is the perfect next read for fans of Jen Turano, Tessa Dare or Mary Connealy.”

The Power of Words – Review

The Matchmaker’s Rogue is filled with charming and sometimes quirky secondary characters. . . . In addition to the criminal element of smuggling, there’s also the concern of spies and passing of England’s secrets to Napoleon. The author skillfully aroused this reader’s suspicion of almost all of Grace-by-the-Sea residents . . . . The ending arrives at a very satisfying conclusion, with the village coming together in a unique way. Very little is quite as it seems on the surface! I hated to leave Grace-by-the-Sea and its many endearing characters, but there’s the promise of much more to come.”

Tell Tale Book Reviews – Excerpt

He smiled at her. “I’m staying at the Mermaid for a few days, and I find myself wondering what to do for entertainment.”

“It depends on what you find entertaining.”

Said in such a disarming tone, he should not hear iron beneath the words, yet he did. She was being polite but letting him know she expected him to respond in kind. This was no time for coy comments, teasing remarks. She was no longer the young lady looking for companionship to while away the summer.

Singing Librarian Books – Spotlight

Historical Graffiti – Excerpt

Over the next while, she looked for her opportunity. But it soon became apparent she wasn’t the only one interested in the Newcomer.

“And what can you tell us about Mr. Denby?” Miss Montgomery, the eldest sister, asked over tea that afternoon.

Jess handed her a snowy white porcelain cup of the steaming brew from the wheeled teacart she or Maudie generally rolled from chair to chair. “His family lives nearby, a mother and two sisters.”

Red Headed Book Lady – Review

“My second book by this author and once again she has written another wonderful story.

Great characters with a great plot that will keep you reading until the book is finished.”

Grace-by-the-Sea: Where romance and adventure come home.

Polished Jesslyn Chance has one of the most enviable positions in the little Regency coastal village of Grace-by-the-Sea. She is the hostess of the spa, arranging introductions and entertainments and playing matchmaker to the ladies and gentlemen who come to take the waters, promenade through the shops, and dance at the assembly. But when a rogue returns from her past, Jess finds herself suddenly at sea.

Always an adventurer, Larkin Denby left Grace-by-the-Sea to right the wrongful death of his father. Now he’s back on a mission: to identify the mysterious Lord of the Smugglers who allegedly sails from Grace Cove and takes England’s secrets to France. But Grace-by-the-Sea is the perfect little spa town, run by the still oh-so-perfect Jesslyn Chance. When the village’s future is threatened, Jess must work with Lark to solve the mystery and protect the town’s own. In doing so, the matchmaker of Grace-by-the-Sea may just find that the best match for her is the rogue who stole her heart years ago.

About the Author

Regina Scott started writing novels in the third grade. Thankfully for literature as we know it, she didn’t sell her first novel until she learned a bit more about writing. Since her first book was published, her stories have traveled the globe, with translations in many languages including Dutch, German, Italian, and Portuguese. She now has more than forty-five published works of warm, witty romance.

She loves everything about England, so it was only a matter of time before she started her own village. Where more perfect than the gorgeous Dorset Coast? She can imagine herself sailing along the chalk cliffs, racing her horse across the Downs, dancing at the assembly, and even drinking the spa waters. She drank the waters in Bath, after all!

Regina Scott and her husband of 30 years reside in the Puget Sound area of Washington State on the way to Mt. Rainier. She has dressed as a Regency dandy, learned to fence, driven four-in-hand, and sailed on a tall ship, all in the name of research, of course. Learn more about her at her website.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Are you struggling with a chronic illness of some kind? There are so many people today struggling, and this book, There is Hope may provide help you have been searching for. There are a total of 52 life lessons to help you once again gain control of your life.

As I read through this book and stopped to really take in some of these thoughts and devotions, my heart was encouraged by what I read. I have been living with a chronic illness for many years, and sometimes it is more than I can comprehend. A lot of the fears and challenges discussed here were exactly the things I have struggled with. Even though we may not struggle with the same illness, it can have some of the same strains on your body. And though my illness isn’t epilepsy, as this author deals with, some of the principles are the same.

When you are going through this book, there are 52 lessons, each having a little about life and struggles, with a verse to go with the thoughts. And I really appreciate the plenty of space left to journal your thoughts. All in all, There is Hope has found a place in my home because this one is a keeper. If you struggle day to day with chronic illness, or maybe you have other struggles you are going through.  I believe this book will help and encourage you through your toughest struggles and difficulties. I encourage you to check this one out.

The Thief of Lanwyn Manor by Sarah E. Ladd

The-Thief-of-Lanwyn-Manor-FB-Banner

About the Book

Book: The Thief of Lanwyn Manor

Author: Sarah E. Ladd

Genre: Regency Romance

Release Date: January 7, 2020

Thief-of-Lanwyn-Manor-672x1024In this sweet Regency romance, Julia knows Matthew Blake, copper mine owner and very eligible bachelor, is the gentleman she should set her eyes upon. But why can’t she steal her gaze away from his younger brother, Isaac?

Cornwall, England 1818—Julia Twethewey needs a diversion to mend her broken heart, so when her cousin invites her to Lanwyn Manor, Julia eagerly accepts. Lanwyn Manor is at the heart of Cornwall’s mining industry, and as a guest Julia is swept into its intricate world. It’s not long, though, before she realizes something dark lurks in the home’s ancient halls.

As a respected mine owner’s younger son, Isaac Blake is determined to keep his late father’s legacy alive through the family business, despite his brother’s careless attitude. In order to save their livelihood—and the livelihood of those around them—the brothers approach the master of Lanwyn Manor with plans to bolster the floundering local industry. Isaac can’t deny his attraction to the man’s charming niece, but his brother has made his intentions to court the lovely guest clear. And Isaac knows his place.

When tragedy strikes, mysteries arise, and items go missing, Julia and Isaac find they are pulled together in a swirl of strange circumstances, but despite their own best efforts to bow to social expectations, their hearts aren’t so keen to surrender.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Another amazing read from author Sarah E. Ladd! I love stories set in England and the setting for this one is Cornwall, England. The Blake brothers are an interesting duo, as different as night and day. They kinda grew on me as the story unfolded, but they did keep things interesting.

And then there is Julia Twethewey, wanting to get away from a failed relationship, and a broken heart. When her cousin ask Julia to come help her during a difficult pregnancy, she is more than happy to help. But she wasn’t expecting to learn so much about her extended family.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Thief of Lanwyn Manor. The cast of characters are so realistic, and as the story unfolds, I love how the characters developed so well. Another amazing thing for me was the vivid details of each scene, making Cornwall, England come alive before my eyes as I read each page. There is so much to say about this story, with just the right amount of mystery, drama, romance and suspense, that the twist and turns happening will keep you turning the pages until the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a nice clean entertaining and enjoyable read. And especially those who love historical fiction.

TWAS THE NIGHT by Marin

TWAS THE NIGHT

Title: ‘TWAS THE NIGHT

Author: Marin

Publisher: Fontreal

Pages: 32

Genre: Children’s Picture Book

BOOK BLURB:

‘TWAS THE NIGHT is a wordless book that “tells” a heartwarming and inspirational Christmas story. The illustrations gift each reader, young and young at heart, the opportunity to reimagine the Season’s wonder, and the fr1eedom “to script” (if they choose to) their own lines to go with the images. Keep dreaming big!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I really love and enjoyed ‘Twas the night very much. I love the concept of using pictures only to tell this beautiful story of someone needing help himself, willing to help another. I’ve seen many picture books for little ones, but this is the first I’ve seen for older children. And really, adults will love this one as well, because I know I do!!

As you can see in the ‘teaser’ pictures here, the author uses vivid detailed pictures to tell his story. What I like most about this book is, children of all ages can view these pages and write their own story. For me, this is awesome because it not only teaches children to love books, but this concept of a wordless book teaches children and adults alike to make up their own heartwarming story. This is something I use to teach my son, as well as my niece to do, because it gives them such a vivid imagination. I am for anything that encourages a child to pick up a book to read, and I believe this book will do just that. This is one I highly recommend! I reviewed an ecopy of this book but I plan to buy a print copy to have for my little ones.

A copy of this book was given to me by the author or publisher. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My name is Marin and I was a child a very long time ago. My father passed away when I was one year old. My mother remarried and I was raised by my loving (but strict!) grandparents. After losing their son, they were terrified by the thought of losing their grandson. For this reason, they didn’t let me play on the street, swim in the nearby pond or explore the forest with the rest of the kids.

This was also the reason I learned to read and write long before I went to school. My grandparents surrounded me with books. Books became my imaginary parents and my fictional friends. Apart from my genetic building blocks, books also came to be the main component in my development as a creative, compassionate and competitive individual.

I studied nuclear physics, art, and literature, but I enjoyed art the most. As a young artist, I was eager to succeed, winning prizes from various countries. I later became a partner in an advertising agency and switched my attention to serving clients.

My last award was somewhere in the early nineties – The Best in the West by Corel Draw Corporation. Oh, a few more boring things about me: I do not drive, I do not drink carbonated beverages, I have never consumed food from McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC or any other fast food restaurant, I do not have a mobile phone, I have never used legal or illegal drugs (except Gravol when I fly), and I have never visited my GP (much to the disapproval of my wife). I read. I read every day. I am what I am today because of books. This publishing house is my little “thank you” to all of them.

A Promise to Keep by Melony Teague

A Promise to Keep JustRead Blog + Quote Tour

Welcome to the Blog + Quote Tour (and Giveaway!) for A Promise to Keep by Melony Teague, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

ABOUT THE BOOK

A Promise to Keep by Melony TeagueTitle: A Promise to Keep

Author: Melony Teague

Publisher: Anaiah Press

Release Date: January 21, 2020

Genre: Inspirational Contemporary Romance

Research librarian Savannah Sanderson wants nothing more than to escape into her happily-ever-after novels with their larger-than-life fictional heroes. But a promise to her late husband has her attending her dreaded twenty-year high school reunion, drinking ghastly punch, and taking desperate measures just to keep her vow, even if she has to hide behind the décor to do it.

Once a reckless troublemaker, Michael McCann fled town after graduation. Now a professional technical rescuer, he’s back for the reunion, but on his trip down memory lane, he soon comes face to face with unresolved issues, namely Savannah.

Before the night is over, a pact between these two old friends will lead them on an adventure into uncharted emotional territory where Michael must confront his past regrets and find the courage to reveal the truth. But can Savannah fly from her sheltered nest and risk her heart on a real-life hero?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Savannah Sanderson only had one reason to attend her high school reunion, and that was because her husband begged her to, just before his death. And she granted his wishes. But she wasn’t expecting their old friend, the friend who walked out and left them, never to return or stay in contact with. And Michael McCann looks nothing like he did in high school, so she didn’t recognize him at first sight of him. The tension is high, neither wanting to see the other, but both drawn to each other because of things beyond their control.

A Promise to keep is filled with so many emotions. There is a lot of friction between the main characters. With their past hanging over them, it was difficult to move forward with any kind of relationship. The author does a really nice job of creating amazing characters, and making their story sound realistic. My heart was heavy for both Savannah and Michael. They were so afraid of stepping out of their comfort zone because they were hanging in to their past so strong it was difficult to let go. This is a heartbreaking, yet sweet Inspirational read. And very well worth your time to read. I encourage you to check out A Promise to Keep for your reading enjoyment.

A copy of this book was given to me by the author or publisher. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Freedom in the Mountain Wind by Misty M. Beller

Freedome-in-the-Mountain-Wind-FB-Banner

About the Book

Book: Freedom in the Mountain Wind

Author: Misty M. Beller

Genre: Christian Historical Romance

Release Date: January 14, 2020

The last epic journey before her life changes forever.

Susanna Wilkins will do amything to make her father’s final dream come true, including trek along the path Lewis and Clark explored into the untamed wilds of the Rocky Mountains. Every mile is more crucial now that lung cancer is stealing Pa’s last days faster than she can come to terms with losing him. The journey becomes harder than she ever expected, but paddling upriver through fierce rapids and fighting hungry grizzlies isn’t what terrifies her the most.

Beaver Tail endured more than he can stand from the women in his Blackfoot camp, but the last disaster gave him the final shove he needed to join this band of brothers searching for one of their group who’s gone missing. The last thing he expected was to find a white woman and her sick father stranded at the base of massive waterfall. His plan is to help them carry their oversize canoe and supplies, then leave them to their strange mission. Yet, the more he learns about the pair, the more he realizes his life is about to be derailed—again.

From a USA Today bestselling author comes another epic journey through breathless landscapes and adventure so intense, lives will never be the same.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I am so happy and honored that I could read and review the starting of this new series by Misty Beller. I love her books, and have read them all! In Freedom in the Mountain Wind, we follow Susanna Wilkins as she honors her Pa’s one last dream of exploring the wilds of the Rocky Mountains going the same route as Lewis and Clark. But would they be able to finish this fantastic but dangerous trip?

This was one of my favorite books that Ms. Beller has written. It is such a sweet and heartwarming story. The love between Susanna and her Pa runs so deep, it was a real pleasure reading the experience through the vivid descriptions. The characters in this story are such an amazing group, willing to help in every way, making them seem so realistic. Misty Beller does a phonomial job of researching the facts and then writing this story. The vivid descriptions of the exquisite scenes along the way makes this book one of the most colorful discriptive stories I’ve read. I’m not sure how I would survive in those wild Rocky Mountains, I’m not much for the wild animals and the food, but I would sure love to see the beautiful scenery. There is so much going on, so many emotions to deal with, so much work to be done to survive. And all of the guys were amazing, but Beaver Tail is my favorite. His knowledge of the land, his personality, sweet heart, all drew him to me more than the others. And I appreciate the way the author weaves in the Gospel, explains how to become a Christian, but does it in a subtle sweet way. If you enjoy a good clean, exciting, story within the wild Rocky Mountain trails, you will love this one!!

A copy of this book was given to me by the author or publisher. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

About the Author

Misty M. Belleris a USA Today bestselling author of romantic mountain stories, set on the 1800s frontier and woven with the truth of God’s love.

She was raised on a farm in South Carolina, so her Southern roots run deep. Growing up, her family was close, and they continue to keep that priority today. Her husband and children now add another dimension to her life, keeping her both grounded and crazy.

God has placed a desire in Misty’s heart to combine her love for Christian fiction and the simpler ranch life, writing historical novels that display God’s abundant love through the twists and turns in the lives of her characters.

More from Misty

When God Directs a Google Search…

I’m a history lover, but you may have guessed that since I write historical romance stories. 😊 Most of my books are set in the Rocky Mountains during the mid-1800s, but as I began brainstorming ideas for this new series, my heart became drawn earlier to the earlier part of the century—a time period with which I wasn’t quite as familiar with the history.

I love when God orchestrates even the most mundane part of our lives, including Google searches! During one particular search (I can’t even remember what I was originally looking for), I stumbled across part of a journal entry from the Lewis and Clark expedition, which trekked across Montana during the time period I was looking into. I’d forgotten that expedition had even entered the territory that would later become Montana, but now I was fascinated.

After finding an audiobook of the abridged journals of Lewis and Clark, I happily listened to almost 19 hours of fascinating stories from the Corp of Exploration’s journey up the Missouri River and across the mountains to the Pacific Ocean, then back mostly the over the same path they’d come. The stories the men told were so amazing, and the detail of their trials so absorbing, I’ve actually re-listened to the audiobook twice! Many of the true tales wouldn’t be believable in fiction, but as I listened, my mind formed the premise for Freedom in the Mountain Wind: a father/daughter duo who sets out almost two decades after Lewis and Clark’s journey, determined to retrace the steps of that famous expedition.

I hope you enjoy this story as much as I loved writing it! And whether you’re a history lover or not, I pray that you too will be touched by this “epic journey through breathless landscapes and adventure so intense, lives will never be the same.”

Murder at the Courthouse by Meghan Carver

Murder at the Courthouse JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour & Giveaway for Murder at the Courthouse by Meghan Carver, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Murder at the Courthouse by Meghan CarverTitle: Murder at the Courthouse

Series: Grace Pointe Cozy Mystery #1

Author: Meghan Carver

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Release Date: October 28, 2019

The first book in the Grace Pointe Cozy Mystery Series!

“Fiction is a waste of time.”

The heated comment made by a church library ministry team member shocks MacKenzie Baker, but it quickly becomes the least of her worries.

MacKenzie Baker is an impetuous, eavesdropping small-town librarian who lives in the apartment above the parsonage garage and refuses to be defined as the pastor’s single sister. She thought she was happy for years re-shelving books and helping patrons find their next great read, but as she turns forty, she suddenly struggles to figure out what more to do with her life. Solving murders in her small town of Grace Pointe wasn’t a part of her plan…until she and her brother find a local judge who had come to Pastor Baker for counseling murdered in his chambers, hit over the head with a massive volume of the Indiana Code.

Now, to clear the name of a family friend, she begins to work with the handsome criminal justice professor Ian Canter. Even though the detective with the chocolate brown eyes tells her to stick with making casseroles for the church pitch-in, she soon discovers the Judge’s scheming wife, his rebellious teen daughter, a network of lawyers in Grace Point who were disgruntled with the Judge, and even secrets that lurk among the library ministry team. But with the help of her new kitten Mr. Darcy, her best friend Callie, and her always-pastoring brother, MacKenzie debates the pros and cons of attending law school mid-life while she searches out a killer.

Welcome to Grace Pointe… where most of the people are friendly, the church is to die for, and the sleuthing is as strong as the coffee.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Sometimes you just have to cozy up to a fun and interesting cozy book. And Meghan Carver’s Murder at the Courthouse is just the book you need. Small town librarian MacKenzie Baker loves in an appartment above the parsonage, which happens to be her brother’s place. Mackenzie is one of those people that knows everyone and their business. Her life is about to change when a murder happens in Grace Point and MacKenzie decides to do a little sleuthing to help solve the mystery.

I really enjoyed the cast of characters that brings this book together. And I just adore Mr. Darcy, the kitten. Each character brings their own flavor to the mixture that makes up this small town. The story is very well written, and kept my attention well. Until I finished the book, there was this anticipation to know who killed the judge. Murder at the Courthouse is everything you want in a nice warm cozy mystery. And I found a little humor along with all of the sleuthing, which was added fun and enjoyment.  I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a good clean book to read.

The Amish Marriage Bargain by Marie E Bast

Amish-Marriage-FB-Banner

Book: The Amish Marriage Bargain

Author: Marie E. Bast

Genre: Amish

Release Date: December 17, 2019

y404

Will a baby girl bring them together at last?

She’ll do anything for her niece…Even marry the man who broke her heart.

Nothing can keep May Bender in her Amish hometown—except caring for her baby niece. But the bishop insists that May also marry her widowed brother-in-law, Thad Hochstedler—the beau who jilted her to wed her sister. Can May risk her heart long enough to learn the real reason for Thad’s first marriage…and possibly rediscover their love?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Sometimes reading an Amish book is so frustrating because of their rules, and this one sure frustrates me. Not because of the author, Marie Bast is a new author for me and I found her writing to be very professional, and it has a way of relaxing me! And that’s a good thing. The bishop forcing May, making her options difficult. I like that May was spunky enough to stand up to the bishop. That one scene made me laugh!

May was in a situation that she had difficult decisions to make, she didn’t want to Thad’s second choice and I really felt bad for her because she loved her niece. Thad was not easy for me to like. He sure didn’t have the attitude of an Amish man, especially in the beginning when he was forcing May to make decisions by making her feel guilty. But Than did grow on me some. But his mom, Gretchan needed someone to put her in her place. I really didn’t like the way she treated May. But then she did make the story more interesting, and she was needed to put that little bit of Amish mother in law attitude to the story.

Things I did like in the story was May, and the way she loved April and Thad’s child, despite what they did to May. She was a sweet and caring character. It was amazing how the Amish community came together to help each other, as Amish do. I enjoyed the closeness of the people. Ms. Bast does an amazing job keeping the plot flowing just right.

I love reading Amish stories, and I am happy to find a new Amish author in Ms. Bast. I’ll be looking for more of her books in the future. I strongly encourage you to check out this book, along with other this author has written. A copy of this book was given to me by the author or publisher. More from Marie

Did you know that until as late as the twentieth century, marriage was never based on love?

In fact, the institution of marriage predates recorded history. But in ancient biblical times, the reasons for marriage are numerous. The kings, nobility, wealthy, and aristocratic families used arranged marriages to ensure loyalty between kingdoms, which forced a united bound and ensured the integrity of their inheritance and the family wealth.

Arranged marriages, marriages of convenience, and marriage bargains were practical to keep property and kingdoms intact and in the family line. But these marriage contracts also spilled over into the commoners’ lives. In times of poverty, a daughter was only another mouth to feed and therefore a burden on the family. That fueled the arranged marriages where the groom gave the family money, animals, or some other commodity in exchange for the marriage.

Also, arranged marriages were instrumental for women over the age of 30 who were unwed. Even in the nineteenth century, many women would find that a marriage of convenience was the way to go. Often, a widower needed a mother and housekeeper for his family, and sometimes a woman without means to support herself would readily accept a marriage of convenience. Even today, some cultures still use arranged marriages.

But one of the most unique marriage of convenience is the marriage bargain, and that is the central theme to my newest book, The Amish Marriage Bargain, which releases in book form December 17, 2019, and eBook January 1, 2020. The marriage bargain is the specific negotiation of the terms of the agreement regarding a particular situation and often included land.

After her sister dies, May Bender will do anything for her niece…Even marry the man who broke her heart. But like the days of old, the bargain goes deeper than that.

The Trouble in Willow Falls by Pat Nichols Plus GIVEAWAY!!

The Trouble in Willow Falls JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour & Giveaway for The Trouble in Willow Falls by Pat Nichols, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Trouble in Willow Falls by Pat NicholsTitle: The Trouble in Willow Falls

Series: Willow Falls #2

Author: Pat Nichols

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: November 8, 2019

After a scathing blogger review and a negative Atlanta television newscast tarnish Willow Falls’ reputation as a secluded North Georgia tourist destination, the town council votes to use the remainder of its annual budget to hire a PR firm to restore the town’s image. At a town-hall meeting, angry residents brainstorm ideas to boost Willow Falls’ appeal. When a second Atlanta television station announces plans to film a segment for its Around Georgia series, residents invest their time and limited resources to spruce up Main Street’s appearance. Willow Post editor Emily Hayes can’t help but shake her head at her town’s desperate efforts.

For months, Emily has submitted her novel to numerous publishers but received only rejections. When famous artist Naomi Jasper offers Emily much-needed cash to finish writing, then cast and direct a play about Willow Falls’ colorful history, Emily faces a difficult decision—postpone the rewrite of her novel or accept the project. After convincing her sister, Rachel Streetman, to partner with her, Emily puts her dreams on hold and agrees to take on the play. Failure to deliver is not an option.

All her life Rachel has dreamed of becoming a stage actress, so when she receives an invitation to audition for a respected Broadway director, Rachel abandons her sister and the Willow Falls play. But an incident with the director sends her reeling back into the arms of Charlie Bricker, her one true love. Out of options, Rachel reluctantly accepts her part in the town play with the slim hope that her performance might kick-start her career.

If anyone understands broken hearts, it’s Willow Inn’s beloved innkeeper, Sadie Liles. Sadie has learned to live with the fact that love is the last thing she’ll ever find. Then he walks through the front door.

As the town prepares for Redding Arms’ grand opening, five newcomers and one British tourist test the town’s quirky, lovable, argumentative residents’ souls. Digging deep to deal with the strife, bickering, and personal backstabbing will test Willow Falls in ways the small town never imagined. Could it be that the trouble in Willow Falls is the very thing that reminds its residents that honesty, love, and loyalty to one another is what binds them together?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I’ve been watching for this second book since I read and reviewed book 1 in this series. I love the town of Willow Falls with its interesting mix of people who live there. Emily, Rachel, Charlie and Sadie are some of the main characters in this story, and each one brings a different flavor of personality to the town. I even enjoyed the bickering in the story, it makes it more realistic for me. The Trouble in Willow Falls is very well written, and with each vivid scene, it was enough to keep me reading.

If you enjoy small town, where every one knows everyone else’ business, you will love this one. The characters will pull you in from the beginning. And the story will give you lots of entertainment and enjoyment.  This is one I highly recommend. And don’t forget to check out book one in this series, The Secret of Willow Inn.

On Wings of Devotion by Roseanna M. White

On Wings of Devotion JustRead Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour & Giveaway for On Wings of Devotion by Roseanna M. White, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

ABOUT THE BOOK

On Wings of Devotion by Roseanna M WhiteTitle: On Wings of Devotion

Series: The Codebreakers #2

Author: Roseanna M. White

Genre: Historical Romance

Publisher: Bethany House

Release Date: January 7, 2020

Against Every Warning, She’s Drawn Ever Closer to the Man Known as “Black Heart”

All of England thinks Major Phillip Camden a monster–a man who deliberately caused the deaths of his squadron. But he would have preferred to die that day with his men rather than be recruited to the Admiralty’s codebreaking division. The threats he receives daily are no great surprise and, in his opinion, well deserved.

As nurse Arabelle Denler observes the so-dubbed “Black Heart,” she sees something far different: a hurting man desperate for mercy. And when their families and paths twist together unexpectedly, she realizes she has a role to play in his healing–and some of her own to do as well.

With Camden’s court-martial looming, an old acquaintance shows up, intent on using him in a plot that sends the codebreakers of Room 40 into a frenzy. With their fragile hopes for the future in the cross hairs, Arabelle and Camden must hold on to hope–and to each other–if they want to survive.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Black Heart is not a name anyone would want tagged as their name, but Major Phillip Camden wore the name loudly since his entire squadton lost their lives. Everyone but Camden. Now he is being blamed. But after spending time with Phillip, nurse Arabelle Denler sees him differently.

This is another amazing book by author Roseanna White. Fron the first page, I was hooked on this story. Again, i was fascinated by the jobs of the code breakers. It’s a job I would have loved, though it had it’s moments. I liked Phillip from the beginning. Maybe because I felt sorry for him? But he just seemed like a nice guy. And Ara felt the same, especially the more she spent time with him. I was happy when she wanted to do what she could to help him. These are both truly wonderful characters. And the other characters are well thought out and created as well. The story is very well written and held my attention, so much so that I didn’t want to put it down.

There’s much going on in this story. Too much to talk about here, and I don’t want to ruin the book for you. I highly recommend On Wings of Devotion. This is a story you are sure to love. Especially if you enjoy historical fiction!

Isaiah’s Daughter by Mesu Andrews

51p3NKtbvwL

About this book

In this epic Biblical narrative, ideal for fans of The Bibleminiseries, a young woman taken into the prophet Isaiah’s household rises to capture the heart of the future king.

Isaiah adopts Ishma, giving her a new name–Zibah, delight of the Lord–thereby ensuring her royal pedigree. Ishma came to the prophet’s home, devastated after watching her family destroyed and living as a captive. But as the years pass, Zibah’s lively spirit wins Prince Hezekiah’s favor, a boy determined to rebuild the kingdom his father has nearly destroyed. But loving this man will awake in her all the fears and pain of her past and she must turn to the only One who can give life, calm her fears, and deliver a nation.

“Andrews (The Pharaoh’s Daughter) offers her unique brand of in-depth Bible knowledge and storytelling flair … [she] is gifted at bringing the past to life…” —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I am picky about the Biblical fiction I read, and Mesu Andrews is one of the few authors I read that writes this genre. And Isaiah’s Daughter is another amazing read from Ms. Andrews. I love that she has given her readers a story about Ishma. As I read the story of this young lady who had lost everything, including her family, my heart ached for her. But God had plans for this orphaned girl that even she found hard to believe. The journey is an amazing one as I watched Ishma grow into a beautiful young lady, winning the eye of Hezekiah, soon to be king.

One main thing reading this story is that you will certainly realize the in-depth study and vivid detail research by Mesu Andrews. As well as the knowledge she has of the Old Testament. This is what makes her books so interesting to read. And though the facts of the Bible are correct, the fiction is the acts of her imagination of what it was like back in the days of Isaiah, and when Hezekiah was King and Zibah (Ishma) was Queen. And this is another reason I love reading Ms. Andrews’ books. It is so unique interesting to imagine with this author how these people of the Bible lived. It brings the characters to life before your eyes. With almost 400 pages, as you can imagine,  there is so much going on here in these pages, you need to read them for yourself and enjoy their meaning. And expect to experience in vivid details the accounts that happened during King Hezekiah’s reign, and his Abba before him.

I want to thank author Mesu Andrews for providing a copy of Isaiah’s Daughter for the JustRead Blind tour. I was not required to write a positive review. Abraham by Jennifer Beckstrand

Abraham-FB-Banner

About the Book

Book:  Abraham

Author: Jennifer Beckstrand

Genre: Inspirational Amish Romance

Release Date: November 26, 2019

Abraham-cover-625x1024Things at the Petersheim house are getting too crowded for eight-year-old twins Alfie and Benji. As if things weren’t bad enough with three older brothers hogging all the bacon at breakfast and using more than their fair share of toilet paper, Mammi and Dawdi Petersheim have to move in because of Dawdi’s stroke. If Alfie and Benji have any hope of getting their own bedrooms, they have to get rid of their annoying brothers, and the only way to convince their brothers to move out is to make each of them fall in love. What could be so hard about that?

Abraham Petersheim is known as a man of few words. He’s painfully shy and doesn’t see the need to prattle on like other boys in the community do. That’s why he can’t understand his unexpected attraction to Emma Wengerd. For sure and certain she’s pretty, but she also has five or six boys buzzing around her all the time, and she seems to be constantly annoyed with Abraham and his little brothers. Emma would never be interested in someone as boring as Abraham, and he could never set his sights on someone as wunderbarr as Emma.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

With the Petersheim twins, who needs a matchmaker? Alfie and Benji were adorable as they tried to find Abraham a wife. The twins just had to get out of the basement, they can’t sleep on a blow up mattress forever.

The twins are at it again. And they are adorable. They do pretty good for their age, to come up with the plans they come up with. And i link and enjoy the humor they come up with. They will keep you laughing for most of the story. They were pretty smart to figure out how to make Abraham talk to Emma! This gave the plot a lot of depth, and gave Abraham a reason to talk. I really enjoyed Abraham and Emma’s character. Enjoyed watching Abraham come out if his shell and actually talk to a girl. A girl he never thought he woukd have a chance with. All around, this story, and the twins plans ended up working out for the good of everyone.

And in her usual fantastic writing, author Jennifer Beckstrand takes readers on another enjoyable and humorous journey of matchmaking. I don’t really think this series will match up to the Huckleberry Hill series, for me, that one just can’t be topped. But this series is going to be another Fabulous read by this wonderful author. I highly recommend that you check out Abraham, and the rest of the Petersheim Brothers series.

More from Jennifer

Alfie and Benji Petersheim will do just about anything to get their brother Abraham to fall in love with Emma Wengerd, even adopt a stray dog. But to catch that dog, they’re going to need Aunt Bitsy’ help. Alfie and Benji are about to get in a lot of trouble.

I hope you enjoy this excerpt from Abraham.

Benji pushed his coffee cake around his plate with his finger. “Maybe we could keep that stray dog.”

Maybe they could keep the dog. Alfie’s heart started pounding. A dog could find them if they ever got lost in the woods. A dog could fetch sticks and bring Dat his slippers. A dog would eat crumbs off the floor. Mamm would never have to mop again.

Bitsy shrugged. “That’s up to your mamm.”

Alfie’s heart sank to his toes. “Mamm would never let us have a dog. She won’t even let me have a goldfish.”

“I have a pet spider,” Benji said.

Alfie popped a small bite of coffee cake into his mouth. “He’s not your pet. He just lives in the corner of the cellar and kills other spiders.”

“You tried to spray him,” Benji said, “and I saved his life. He’s my pet now.”

Bitsy nodded. “Spiders are gute pets. They feed themselves and don’t poop on the carpet.”

Benji sat very still before wrinkling his forehead like he did when he was upset. “We need to help that dog.”

Alfie wanted a dog as much as anybody, but they had to be sensible. They’d been asking Mamm for a dog ever since they could talk. “Mamm won’t let us.”

Benji started crying. “But he’s going to get gassed.”

Bitsy reached over and patted Benji’s arm. “He might not get gassed. The pound might find a nice family that wants to adopt him. People like chocolate labs. I’m told they’re cute.”

Benji caught his breath and suddenly stopped crying, as if someone had turned off a faucet. “Do girls like chocolate lamps?”

“Chocolate labs?” Bitsy folded her arms. “Well, I’m a girl and I don’t think he’s cute, but most girls love dogs. Do you remember Vernon Schmucker? Poor fellow had a face like a potato, and the girls ignored him. One night he brought a puppy to the gathering, and he was surrounded by girls all night. That’s how he met his wife.”

Benji jumped from his chair and threw his arms around Alfie, making Alfie spill milk down his new shirt. “Hey. Watch it.”

“Alfie, girls like dogs!”

Benji was a good partner, but sometimes he made no sense. “So?”

“If Emma Wengerd saw us walking our chocolate lamp down the street, she’d run out of her house to pet him.”

Alfie’s heart started pounding. Benji was the best bruder in the world. “We could bring Abraham with us.”

Benji got more and more excited with each word. “And they could talk about dogs and chickens and maybe start kissing.”

Alfie set his milk on the table. “We’ve got to catch that dog.”
