Every Girl Gets Confused

by Janice Thompson

How can she choose between the love she thought she lost and the love she stumbled upon in the aftermath?

Katie Fisher and Brady James may be a match made in heaven, but that doesn’t seem to guarantee them a happily ever after accompanied by angelic choirs. Katie’s almost-fiancé Casey is back in Fairfield, ready to rekindle their relationship. And there’s nothing Katie’s parents want more than for their small-town girl to leave Dallas and come home for good.

But can she really leave Brady behind? And will she ever be able to wear that gorgeous wedding dress she won?

Every Girl Gets Confused is romantic comedy at its best. A sweet romance. A wonderful band of supporting family and friends. And enough humor to keep me smiling on each page. I highly recommend it!”–Cara Putman, award-winning author of Shadowed by Grace and Where Treetops Glisten

“A delightful mix of romance, inspiration, and humor, woven together with Thompson’s trademark Texas storytelling and a happily-ever-after ending that will make you want to swoon.”–Judy Christie, author of Wreath, A Girl in the Wreath Willis series

“Janice Thompson tosses her readers into a humorous whirl of romantic possibilities with characters I swear I’ve met in small-town Texas. Fun!”–Julianna Deering, author of the Drew Farthering Mystery series.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Anytime I see a Janice Thompson book, I know I am in store for a wonderful, fun, romantic and humorous read. And Every Girl Get’s Confused was no disappointment. I loved the delightful and  charming characters, the small town family feel, with the big city lurking around as well. Ms. Thompson does a fantastic job of moving back and forth between the big city life and the small town family life. Most of this story involves around the romance of Katie Fisher, with a lot of pleasant surprises in between. Katie has a choice to make, will she choose her now boyfriend, NBA player Brady or will she go back home to her one time almost fiancée Casey?

Join Janice Thompson as you read her latest, Every Girl Gets Confused. You may even get confused with Katie as she tried her best to make this important choice that will sure change her life. This is one book that will not disappoint, and if you enjoy a good, clean, romance, this is the book for you!

ABOUT THIS BOOK

Brook Eden has never known where she truly belongs. Though raised in the palace of Monaco, she’s British by birth and was brought to the Grimaldis under suspicious circumstances as a babe. When Brook’s friend Justin uncovers the fact that Brook is likely a missing heiress from Yorkshire, Brook leaves the sun of the Mediterranean to travel to the moors of the North Sea to the estate of her supposed family.

The mystery of her mother’s death haunts her, and though her father is quick to accept her, the rest of the family and the servants of Whitby Park are not. Only when Brook’s life is threatened do they draw close—but their loyalty may come too late to save Brook from the same threat that led to tragedy for her mother.

As heir to a dukedom, Justin is no stranger to balancing responsibilities. When the matters of his estate force him far from Brook, the distance between them reveals that what began as friendship has grown into something much more. But how can their very different loyalties and responsibilities ever come together?

And then, for a second time, the heiress of Whitby Park is stolen away because of the very rare treasure in her possession—and this time only the servants of Whitby can save her.

About this book

ER nurse Macy Wynn learned essential, gritty lessons in the California foster care system: land on your feet and trust no one. She’s finally located the fellow foster child she loves like a sister, but the girl’s in deep trouble. Macy’s determined to help, no matter what it takes. Her motto is to “make it happen” in any situation life throws at her―even when she butts heads with an idealistic cop.

Deputy Fletcher Holt believes in a higher plan, the fair outcome―and his ability to handle that by himself if necessary. Now he’s been yanked from Houston, his mother is battling cancer, and he’s attracted to a strong-willed nurse who could be the target of a brutal sniper.

When everything goes wrong, where do they put their trust?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Macy Wynn learned a lot about life growing up in a foster home, and one of those things was, don’t trust anyone! One thing Macy found in foster care was a sister that would always be her sister. The two were separated when their foster mom passed away, so Macy goes on a mission to find her sister and bring her home with her to Sacramento, only to be stopped by a sniper in the street. Police officer Fletcher is trying to do his best to get to the sniper who is causing the traffic jam. Macy and Fletcher’s lives seem to be thrown together qiute a bit, but they both have the own struggles and demons following the around.

I enjoyed this book so much! I love Fletcher and Macy. Their difficult situations were issues a lot of people face in life. Author Candace Calvert does an amazing job of thaking these situations and weaving them together, creating a beautiful story of love, grace, Faith and forgiveness. And a little action there too! There are a lot if twists and turns in the story that will keep you guessing, but that’s what I love about a good story!

By Your Side is a story I highly recommend and one you sure don’t want to miss! This book was provided by the publisher, Tyndale House. I was not required to write a review of this book. I chose to write this review, and the opinions are mine alone!

Her passion is to present the promises and hope found in God’s Word in down-to-earth, everyday experiences through her stories.

Julane loves reading, decorating, junking, antiques, and chocolate! No particular order, but one would be safe to insert chocolate between all other interests.

Kissed by a Cowboy
by  Debra Clopton

Kissed by a CowboyAbout this book

Divorced and humiliated, her faith on rocky ground, Cassidy is through with love. She’s been bucked off that horse far too many times. Instead, she returns to Wishing Springs, Texas, and the rundown farm she’s inherited from her great aunt Roxie. She’ll reopen the strawberry farm and a bed & breakfast and follow in her aunt’s footsteps, remaining forever-independent, happy . . . and single.

He’s pushed his longing for a family to the bottom of his list of priorities. Besides, he was in love once but ran scared and lost his shot at happiness. But suddenly, the biggest regret of his life has moved in next door with a wounded heart, determined to become a spinster . . . and that’s a challenge that Jarrod can’t pass up.

Jarrod sets his mind to breaking down the walls around Cassidy’s stubborn heart. How can he show her that a cowboy’s kiss lasts forever? For the good folks of Wishing Springs, falling in love has never been so much fun to witness.

Learn more and purchase a copy.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Jarrod Monahan was the last Monahan without a wife, so this was an enjoyable and sweet romance to read. But Jarrod wasn’t interested in a woman and married life, that is until old flame Cassidy Starr moved into the house near Jarrod. But Cassidy was finished with men, she wanted to make a life for herself, without a man in her life. But for whatever reason, the two seemed to always run into each other, and that’s when the attraction began.

I love the characters in this series, and it was nice taking a trip back Wishing Springs and the Four of Hearts Ranch. Jarrod was a quiet person, while Cassidy was a little spitfire. Their developing attraction and romance was fun to follow, even though the story was quite predictable. There are some twists and turns throughout the story that made the story interesting, and some quite funny. Over all, this is a really good read, and I highly recommend Kissed By a Cowboy, as well as the other books in this series. I am sad to see this series end, but I am excited to read more from Debra Clopton!

STEALING JAKE

Stealing-Jake

ABOUT THIS BOOK
When Livy O’Brien spies a young boy jostling a man walking along the boardwalk, she recognizes the act for what it is. After all, she used to be known as Light-fingered Livy. But that was before she put her past behind her and moved to the growing town of Chestnut, Illinois, where she’s helping to run an orphanage. Now she’ll do almost anything to protect the street kids like herself.

Sheriff’s deputy Jake Russell had no idea what he was in for when he ran into Livy—literally—while chasing down a pickpocket. With a rash of robberies and a growing number of street kids in town—as well as a loan on the family farm that needs to be paid off—Jake doesn’t have time to pursue a girl. Still, he can’t seem to get Livy out of his mind. He wants to get to know her better . . . but Livy isn’t willing to trust any man, especially not a lawman.

Claiming Mariah

ABOUT THIS BOOK

After her father’s death, Mariah Malone sends a letter that will forever alter the lives of her family. When Slade Donovan, strong willed and eager for vengeance, shows up on her front porch, Mariah is not ready to hear his truths: her father’s farm, the only home she’s ever known, was bought with stolen gold. With Slade ready to collect his father’s rightful claim and force Mariah and her family out on the streets, Mariah must turn to God for guidance. Though Mr. Frederick Cooper, a local landowner, promises to answer her financial woes if she agrees to be his bride, Mariah finds herself drawn instead to the angry young man demanding her home.

With the ranch now under Slade’s careful eye, he unearths more than he ever imagined as a devious plot of thievery, betrayal, and murder threatens the well-being of the ranch, endangering those who hold it dear. As the days dwindle until the rest of the Donovan clan arrives at the Lazy M ranch, Mariah and Slade must rise above the resentment of their fathers and see their true feelings before greed changes their futures forever.

MY THOUGHTS ON CLAIMING MARIAH

Mariah and her grandmother are trying their best to keep their ranch running after the death of Mariah’s father. But their lives take a drastic change when Slade Donovan show up claiming the ranch. As it turns out, Mariah’s father supposedly took money that belonged to Slade’s father and bought the ranch, so now that Slade’s father is dead, he is there to claim what belongs to their family. He agrees to let Mariah and her grandmother stay in the house until his mom and sister come to live there. But a lot of things happen here in this story before that takes place.

This was my first book by Pam Hillman, and I loved it so very much! There was a lot of tension between the characters because Slade was carrying around so much anger and bitterness. Mariah was shocked that her father would steal money, so she and  Slade didn’t get along. The two that did surprisingly got along was Slade’s quiet brother and Mariah’s grandmother, while I think had a lot to do with Slade and Mariah slowing changing their minds. Grandma was a sweetheart, she loved the Lord, and nothing seemed to upset her. She was the glue that held them all together. But when the mom and sister get there, things may change for them.

I enjoyed Ms. Hillman’s writing style and I look forwarding to reading other books by her. The bit of suspense and romance make this story one you will love and enjoy. And I can’t leave out the fact that the history throughout this story was so interesting and very well searched and woven into the lives of the characters. You can’t go wrong with this book being on your ‘to read’ shelf. I purchased a copy of this book to read, and it is so good I wanted to leave a review.

ABOUT PAM

CBA Bestselling author Pam Hillman writes inspirational fiction set in the turbulent times of the American West and the Gilded Age.

Born east of the Mississippi and a hundred years too late, Pam still boasts of wrangling calves, milking cows and putting up hay, first as a child, and later with her own personal hero, Iran, on their family farm in Mississippi.

A voracious reader as a child, Pam especially enjoyed stories involving the great Westward expansion, and television shows such as Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie, and Gunsmoke. The western writer, Louis L’Amour, kept Pam mesmerized with his tales of cowboys and Indians, mountain men and outlaws, prim schoolteachers, hot dry deserts, and boom towns.

Pam’s life in the country and her love of the old west bring authenticity to her work and depth to her characters, something that has been recognized many times in the industry through writer’s awards.

Her work has placed in dozens of writer’s contests, including being a four-time finalist in Romance Writers of America’s prestigious Golden Heart contest for unpublished novelists with Claiming Mariah, her second novel, winning the coveted Golden Heart.

CFBA Presents Pharaoh’s Daughter by Mesu Andrews

Pharaoh’s Daughter

WaterBrook Press (March 17, 2015)

by

Mesu AndrewsABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Mesu Andrews’ deep understanding of and love for God’s Word brings the biblical world alive for her readers. She and her husband, Roy, enjoyed fourteen years of pastoral ministry before moving to the Pacific Northwest, where Roy now serves as Academic Dean at Multnomah Biblical Seminary. Mesu writes full-time, snuggled in her recliner beside a cozy fire on rainy Northwest days. The Andrews’ enjoy visiting their two married daughters and a growing tribe of grandkids. Mesu loves movies, football, waterfalls, and travel.

Biblical fiction is her favorite genre to read and write. Her first novel, Love Amid the Ashes (Revell, 2011), tells the story of Job and won the 2012 ECPA Book of the Year for a Debut Author.

ABOUT THE BOOK

“Fear is the most fertile ground for faith.”

“You will be called Anippe, daughter of the Nile. Do you like it?” Without waiting for a reply, she pulls me into her squishy, round tummy for a hug.

I’m trying not to cry. Pharaoh’s daughters don’t cry.

When we make our way down the tiled hall, I try to stop at ummi Kiya’s chamber. I know her spirit has flown yet I long for one more moment. Amenia pushes me past so I keep walking and don’t look back.

Like the waters of the Nile, I will flow.

Anippe has grown up in the shadows of Egypt’s good god Pharaoh, aware that Anubis, god of the afterlife, may take her or her siblings at any moment. She watched him snatch her mother and infant brother during childbirth, a moment which awakens in her a terrible dread of ever bearing a child. Now she is to be become the bride of Sebak, a kind but quick-tempered Captain of Pharaoh Tut’s army. In order to provide Sebak the heir he deserves and yet protect herself from the underworld gods, Anippe must launch a series of deceptions, even involving the Hebrew midwives—women ordered by Tut to drown the sons of their own people in the Nile.

When she finds a baby floating in a basket on the great river, Anippe believes Egypt’s gods have answered her pleas, entrenching her more deeply in deception and placing her and her son Mehy, whom handmaiden Miriam calls Moses, in mortal danger.

As bloodshed and savage politics shift the balance of power in Egypt, the gods reveal their fickle natures and Anippe wonders if her son, a boy of Hebrew blood, could one day become king. Or does the god of her Hebrew servants, the one they call El Shaddai, have a different plan—for them all?

If you would like to read the first chapter of Pharaoh’s Daughter, go HERE.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I love, love Mesu Andrews books!!!  I have all of them, I’ve read every one, and she is just fantastic! The story of  Moses and Pharaoh Daughter has always been one of my favorite stories. Even as a small child, I loved hearing the story, seeing the pictures displayed on the flannel board that we had then, and coloring pictures of Moses in his little basket hiding in the water among the bushes. But nothing I have ever read or heard has brought this story to life the way Mesu Andrews did in this new book. If you are looking for an awesome Biblical fiction, this is one you don’t want to miss!

If I Run By Terri Blackstock from Zondervan

If I Run
By Terri Blackstock

if i ran

CASEY KNOWS THE TRUTH. BUT IT WON’T SET HER FREE.

Casey Cox’s DNA is all over the crime scene. There’s no use talking to police; they’ve failed her abysmally before. She has to flee before she’s arrested . . . or worse. The truth doesn’t matter anymore.

But what is the truth? That’s the question haunting Dylan Roberts, the war-weary veteran hired to find Casey. PTSD has marked him damaged goods, but bringing Casey back can redeem him. Though the crime scene seems to tell the whole story, details of the murder aren’t adding up.

Casey Cox doesn’t fit the profile of a killer. But are Dylan’s skewed perceptions keeping him from being objective? If she isn’t guilty, why did she run?

Unraveling her past and the evidence that condemns her will take more time than he has, but as Dylan’s damaged soul intersects with hers, he is faced with two choices: the girl who occupies his every thought is a psychopathic killer . . . or a selfless hero. And the truth could be the most deadly weapon yet.

MY THOUGTHS ON THIS BOOK

Casey Cox only wants to do the right things, find her father’s killer. But her life falls apart when she finds her good friend murdered, and with her DNA being all over the place, she has no option but to run. Dylan Roberts, the PI hired to find Casey doesn’t think she is guilty of murder, the evidence just doesn’t show it.

If I Run is another fast pace thriller from one of my very favorite authors, Terri Blackstock. It starts our with Casey finding her good friend Brent murdered in his home. Knowing why Brent was murdered, and her blood all over everything, Casey’s only choice is to take off. Casey was a fantastic leading character, with all of her twists and turns trying to stay under the radar, I never knew what was coming next! Casey was such a caring person, she cared more for helping others than she did herself, even if she did put herself in the spotlight. I really enjoyed this story, and I read it through without putting it down.

However, the ending just almost ruined it for me. It left so many loose ends, I felt as though I was hanging from a cliff when I read that last sentence. I sure hope there is a book two, I will be very disappointed if it is not. Can’t wait to find out about another book in this series!

I received this book from BookLook Bloggers to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

As answers begin to fall into place, Mallory realizes her search is about more than finding her father’s killer—it is also about finding herself again . . . and possibly about healing what was broken so long ago with Kevin. She just has to stay alive long enough to put all the pieces together.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Wow! This book kept me the edge of my seat while I was reading it! Mallory and her dad wasn’t close, but when she rec’d a phone call from him just before he died saying, ‘find mom’ she was really confused. Her mom passed away years ago. Mallory has no choice but to return to Mermaid Point to try and figure out what happen to her dad. A trip back into her past, including childhood sweetheart Kevin O’Connor takes Mallory on a whirlwind trip that has Mallory digging into parts of her past,  someone starts threatening Mallory, as well as her daughter’s life.

There is so much going on in this story, so many twists and turns. When I thought I had it all figured out, something else happens to throw me off again, and I loved it! Colleen Coble does such a fantastic job of creating characters that I connected with as they became part of the story, and realistic scenes that makes me wish I had been a detective! I love Ms. Coble’s books, and this is one of her very best! If you enjoy fast pace suspense thrillers, Mermaid  Moon is a fantastic book you will want to read!

She prefers watching NCIS to just about anything, except maybe watching Castle, or Girl Meets World with her kids. ABOUT THE BOOK

Prince Malachi Van Renssalaer of Mevendia is getting married. The problem? He’s never even met his bride. His father arranged everything, right down to the marriage contract. Malachi swears to himself that he will be nothing like his father in the ways that count – including his fidelity to his wife.

Jessabelle Keller would happily spend her entire life in obscurity, but her father once saved the life of a future king. Before he dies, her father is committed to seeing that king make good on his promise to have one of his sons marry her so she would be taken care of for life.

No sooner than Prince Malachi and Jessabelle return from their honeymoon, they find themselves dealing with both private trauma and the very public drama of groundless accusations from the press. Just as they begin to weave their fragile trust back together, a ghost from the king’s past arrives and threatens everything they’ve ever held dear.

Secrets have a funny way of coming out and this one could rip the faith of the country in their leaders to shreds. Malachi is determined to protect Jessabelle no matter what it takes, but will it ever be enough for her to not feel like a Hand-Me-Down Princess?

by Sandra Dalton-Smith

Come EmptyAbout the Book

When a water vessel is filled with dirt and stones, it cannot be used to quench a thirst.

But, when this vessel is emptied, there is an opportunity to fill it until it overflows with fresh, cool, life-giving water. Water that quenches. Refreshes. Soothes.

Our souls are the same: filled with fear, doubt, and disappointment. Running over with unanswered prayers and lingering questions. When we empty the mess of our lives in the presence of God, we’re offered an invitation to come. An invitation that allows us to come empty – so that we can be filled until we overflow.

Come Empty: Pour Out Life’s Hurts and Receive God’s Healing Love guides you through fifty days of experiencing the fullness of God’s love and His ability to overcome life’s hurts. Each day, you will receive assurance of God’s presence in your difficult situations. Each devotion gives new vision and perspective when you’re hindered by emotional blind spots, and leads you to experience God’s peace and wholeness. When His invitation is accepted, He will set your captive mind and heart free to live fully by His grace. The question is not if you will get an invitation. The question is, will you come?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Come Empty by Saundra Dalton Smith is a not just a devotional, it is a book that will help you deal with the hurts, fear, doubts and any other emotion that is strangling you and keeping you from living you life free in Jesus. Each devotion goes deep into your emotions and helps you deal with the root of the problem. Ms. Smith shares these special devotions from her heart, and helps us to start our own journey. And even though each of us will go this journey in our own way and in our own time, the end results are the same. We will be able to live our lives free of the things that pull us down. And I enjoy the way Ms. Smith shows us that nothing can happen without surrendering out lives to Christ Jesus.

Sandra Smith has an awesome way of writing that I thoroughly enjoyed and this book is not just a devotional for me, its a book that I will go to time and again when I need encouragements and hope. Grace’s Forgiveness
by Molly Jebber

Graces-Forgiveness-from-Kensington

A Note from Molly Jebber about Grace’s Forgiveness

Grace in “Grace’s Forgiveness”, my second book in my keepsake pocket quilt series, was fun to write. Strangers gasp when she turns her face, and they discover her birthmark on her cheek. You’ll find out how she copes with it. I hope you’ll laugh, cry, and rejoice with her like I did.

Grace and Mark’s story unfolds with twists and turns to keep you guessing. Their Amish laws are not always easy to follow!

I had more ideas than usual for this story. In the grocery, and of course I couldn’t find paper and pen! In the middle of the night, and I was too sleepy to get up and write them down, and while doing laundry. What a mess! Let’s just say, I ran the rinse cycle twice on those clothes. Note to self. Don’t put in detergent while rolling a story idea in my head!
Love. Doesn’t just saying the word make you smile! That giddy, wonderful, and exciting feeling. The grass is greener, the sky is brighter, and you want to hang onto to it for life. I found it with my soulmate and husband, Ed. He’s my rock and inspiration.

God, my Heavenly Father is available 24 hours a day, and seven days a week. When I get discouraged and need to talk at two in the morning, He’s there! I love Isaiah 41:10, King James Version, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

I love this. He’s saying, “You can do it! Just trust me! We’ve got this!”
You also life me up. I couldn’t keep writing without encouragement from you! Thank you so much for your kind words and support! Please visit my website to find out where I’ll be speaking. I’d love to meet you!

Book Information

A handsome newcomer with secrets shows a yearning Amish woman a chance at happiness—but their love will need all their courage to keep . . .

Grace Blauch is skilled at midwifery—and crafting quilts that help others pass on messages of enduring family love. But a disfiguring birthmark keeps the young Amish woman from a husband and home of her own—until Mark King arrives from another community. His helpfulness and independent nature earn Grace’s respect. And he finds her outspoken ways and determination to do right irresistibly appealing. Soon Grace is planning a wedding quilt of her very own . . . until her father discovers that Mark’s shunned brother is hiding somewhere in town . . .

Grace can well understand why Mark took such a risk once she hears his wrenching reasons. But she fears even prayer will not convince her father to restore his blessing on their union. She wills herself to face the end of her dreams, but sudden danger and an impossible act of generosity will show her that abiding hope can inspire the most precious of miracles  . . .

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Grace Blauch is happily running a story with her friend Sarah, as well as being a midwife in the community. Her hopes for a husband is pretty much gone because of a harsh birthmark on her hand, clearly were everyone can see. No Amish man wants a woman with something so noticeable on her hand, or who he? When Mark King comes to the Amish community, things may be different for Grace.

I enjoyed Grace’s story very much. Grace was a gentle sweet Amish young lady that would make any young Amish man a wonderful wife. My heart went out to her because no man would look past her birthmark. And I was certainly cheering own a relationship between Grace and Mark. Mark had problems of his own, and understood Grace more than any man ever had. I really liked Mark’s personality, and the fact that he was so caring for Grace, and for his brother, who was shunned by the Amish. Of course this shunning was a problem for Mark and Grace, another thing to come between their relationship. Now can their relationship survive the problems with Mark’s brother’s jumping the fence? Well you will need to read this wonderful book for the answer to this. You are truly in for hours of entertainment when you read Molly Jebber’s Grace’s Forgiveness.

A Refuge at Highland Hall by Carrie Turansky

A Refuge at Highland Hall
by Carrie Turansky

a refuge at highland hall

ABOUT THIS BOOK

The Great War shakes the world of a spirited young woman and the brave British pilot she loves, taking her from London to her family’s magnificent country estate, and sending him into the war-torn skies over France.

Penny Ramsey has always considered Highland Hall her home, but when Britain becomes involved in World War One she travels to London to assist her sister Kate with the eight orphan children she and her husband Jon have taken into their home. Doing her part for the war effort takes priority over Penny’s dreams of romance until she meets Alex Goodwin, a Royal Naval Air Service pilot in training.

Alex is determined to prove his worth and do his part to defend his country. Knowing he is heading off for the dangerous assignment of  chasing Zeppelins across the front line in France, he feels it’s unwise to form any romantic attachments. But he can’t help admiring the pretty, warmhearted Penny and wondering what it would be like to find her waiting when he returns home from the war.

As Penny writes to Alex, their friendship blossoms, and she becomes his tie to home and normalcy as he faces the hardships war. But being an RNAS pilot means confronting the enemy, and the fallout form those experiences push Alex beyond Penny’s reach. Can God mend the brokenness left by the losses of war? Will faith and forgiveness bring them together again?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

A Refuge at Highland Hall is the third book in the Edwardian Brides series by Carrie Turansky. I was glad to read more of Highland Hall’s Penny Ramsey in this story. Because of Britain’s involvement in WWI, Penny decides to travel to London to help her sister Kate and her husband with the houseful of orphaned children they have. Its there that Penny meets Royal Naval Air Service pilot Alex Goodwin, and there was definitely an attraction between the two! Knowing he would be chasing Zeppelins across the front line in France, Alex couldn’t allow anything series between the two. But they could write to each other while he was in France. But faced with unforeseen circumstances, Alex’s life takes a dramatic change, and seeing Penny again was out of the question.

This is such a wonderful book! First of all, the cover is beautiful, and the story inside is full of entertainment. I loved meeting the characters again, they now seem like family members. Penny is such a sweetheart, and I was cheering on a relationship between she and Alex. There’s a lot of things going on in this book, a lot of twists and turns happening that made me keep my nose in the book until I finished!! Author Carrie Turansky does an amazing joy of weaving everything together nicely, and giving readers a sweet romance.

And the history in this story is phenomenal, it made the trip back into the past WWI era so enjoyable. As I read, I felt like I was living the story along with the characters. This book is a must if you enjoy historical and WWI fiction. And this one is a nice clean read! One that anyone will enjoy!

Caroline’s Secret

caroline's secret.png

ABOUT THIS BOOK

In Amy Lillard’s poignant introduction to Wells Landing, a small Amish community is home to two brave souls hoping to forget their painful pasts and rebuild their faith in the future. . .

Caroline Hostetler arrived in Oklahoma determined to forge a new life for herself and her daughter, Emma. As a single mother, she values the warmth and safety she’s found in close-knit Wells Landing. She’s even caught the eye of a handsome newcomer–a man who just may be the partner she longs for and the father Emma deserves. But the arrival of an Englisher threatens to lay bare the secrets she’s worked so hard to leave behind. . .

After losing his life-long sweetheart, Andrew Fitch moved to Wells Landing to work in his uncle’s furniture business and nurse his broken heart. Finding love again seems all but impossible–until he meets Caroline and Emma. But his plans to join their lives together may be shattered when the truth of Caroline’s past comes to light–unless, together, they can learn the true meaning of sacrifice and forgiveness. . .

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Caroline Hostetler moves Oklahoma with her daughter Emma, leaving behind her dreadful past. She loves the community of Wells Landing, and soon she meets a handsome widower and the two discover they are attracted to each other. But Caroline can’t forget the past she has hanging over her head. She has to tell Andrew the truth or she could loose him.

Caroline and Emma were two loveable characters, and I really enjoyed their story. This is another awesome read from one of my favorite authors, Amy Lillard. The story and the characters were so realistic, I felt as though I was living in the story with these beautiful characters. I was nervous for Caroline, though I wanted her to hurry and tell Andrew the truth so they could decide if they could have a life together. There’s a lot of twists and tensions here, but nothing that love, forgiveness alone with some sacrifice cannot take care of. If you enjoy Amish fiction, you must try Caroline’s Secret. And scroll down for my review on the second and third books in this series as well!

Courting Emily

courting emily

ABOUT THIS BOOK

Return to Wells Landing, the close-knit Amish community in Oklahoma, where a hopeful young woman struggles to find true love while staying true to her faith. . .

Emily Ebersol is the bishop’s daughter, and everyone–including Emily–assumes she’ll marry a faithful Amish man and live out her days within the community. But her childhood sweetheart, Luke Lambright, fell in love with racing cars during his rumspringa and decided to leave Wells Landing. Emily prays for his return, but as the months go by, she begins spending time with another young man–a man who may not be as exciting as Luke, but perhaps he’s exactly what she needs. . .

Elam Rhiel knows that Emily has always been in love with Luke–but he is certain he could be the loyal, steady husband Emily deserves. Then, just as Emily begins to fall for him, Luke returns and complicates her feelings. Now, they all must learn that the greatest love requires the greatest sacrifice. . .

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

We return to the good Amish folks in the Wells Landing community of Oklahoma for Emily’s story. Being a Bishop’s daughter, Emily Ebersol was sure to marry a good standing Amish man and live happily ever after as an Amish wife. But when her longtime childhood sweetheart, Luke Lambright fell more in love with racing cars than her, and left the Amish faith, Emily’s world was shattered.  Then Emily started spending time at the Riehl house helping out because James Riehl had been injured, thus spending time with James’ son Elam. Could Elam be the man for her since Luke never returned home? But then suddenly Luke does return home and Emily’s life is in a whirlwind!

This story takes a different twist that the first book. Emily and Luke had been sweethearts since childhood, so it was no question that they would marry when they were old enough, but then Luke has to jump the fence, taking care of that! I enjoyed the time Emily spent at the Riehl home, because she was so good to the dad, James. James’ family had had him closed up in his dark bedroom since his injury, not wanting him to have a life. Emily had a different idea, and started bringing James out of his dark den, making Elam furious. But James loved it, causing a lot of tension in this household! I loved James’ character. He was fun, and so adorable after Emily started letting him out into the house more. But I don’t want to say any more, because you need to read the book to see what happens! And if you enjoy Amish fiction, this is a must read for you! And check out books One and Three in this same posting.

Lorie’s Heart

Lorie's Heart

ABOUT THIS BOOK

Welcome back to Wells Landing, Oklahoma, the tranquil Amish community where still waters run deep and a brave young woman sets out to discover her faith, her family, and herself…

Lorie Kauffman is grief-stricken when her father passes away unexpectedly. But her heartache quickly turns to bewilderment when she discovers he’d been leading two lives—one of simplicity and hard work in Wells Landing, and one fraught with painful ordeals in Tulsa. As she starts digging into her family’s past, Lorie finds herself torn between the Amish world and the Englisch world—and she’s no longer certain where she belongs…

Lorie knows that if she leaves Wells Landing, she may never be able to return. But what if her destiny lies in the outside world—the world her father knew so well? Change is never easy, but with a bit of courage and the help of a handsome and kind-hearted Englischer, she just may find the peace, acceptance, and love she’s been longing for…

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

When Lorie Kauffman’s father passed away, she was having enough trouble dealing with his death, much less finding out about all of his secrets. Lorie find’s a tattoo her dad has when she goes to identify his body, which her step mother will tell her nothing about. Then she finds a drivers license and an address, with a name Lorie doesn’t recognize,  in the box of things the funeral home of her dads. Lorie has Luke take her to the address she found to see what she could find out, and they ended up at a retirement home. Would Lorie find answers to all of her questions here?

Book three in this series is just as exciting as Book’s one and two! With Lorie finding out about the secrets her father has been keeping from her, the tensions are a bit more intense, and there are many twists and turns. And of course this was great because I couldn’t put the book down, I had to find out what was happening next. I did feel so bad for Lorie, because everything hit her at once, and it was difficult to handle, and then try to figure out what she could about her dad and his situation. Another awesome read from Amy Lillard. One you don’t want to miss, especially if you enjoy Amish fiction.

I received this book from the author to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.
