By day, I am an English Instructor for a local college, Marketing Manager for Degnan Design Builders, Inc., mother to four amazing children, and wife to an eternally patient and supportive husband.

In the evening, when I can squirrel away some quiet time, I read and write historical fiction.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This was a really good, and very interesting story. And the fact that it was based on members of the author’s family makes the story more believable and intriguing. When reading this story, I grew to love the characters and the situations they had to face. I really appreciate the way Ms Luecht weaves the Christian life into the characters everyday life, and the way faith in the Lord was so strong in their lives. I will be looking for the next book in this series!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I really liked this book, but sometimes it was difficult to read. This story is about two very different women, coming from different backgrounds and beliefs. As the story unfolds, these two ladies grow to depend on each other in many ways. When Mia and Halimah’s lives crossed, both of their lives changed. Mia moved to Sudan with her husband and Halimah was living in Sudan under the Muslim faith. While Mia was getting use to the new lifestyle’s of Sudan, Halimah was learning about faith in the real true God.

Reading this book was so intense, but yet so inspiring because these two ladies depended totally on God. When Halimah found faith in the Lord, life was not easy for her at home. She was shunned by her family, and beaten because of her relationship with God. Through it all Mia and Halimah trusted God and His strength and courage to get them through. Reading this book really made me thankful I live in America. We really don’t know how people around the world live. And even though this story is fiction, there are people who live this life today, and its really scary. What would we do if we couldn’t talk about our God every day? This is a must read for everyone!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Talk about mystery, The End of Ocean’s Edge by Colleen Coble is one of the best mysteries I have read! Who is Claire Dellamare? She thought her life was like any other rich girl’s life, that it until she  Claire returns to the Hotel Tourmaline for a business meeting with her CEO father. That’s when she starts hearing rumors about her disappearing for a year when she was young.

Wow, this was an awesome read! The plot line was amazing, and the characters were so very realistic I wanted to be there in the story with them. Clarie was a sweet and intelligent young lady, and never did she think her life would be in shambles when she returned to the Hotel Tourmaline. The more I read the stranger the story became, one murder and one young child went missing at the same time. Was there a connection? What strange and horrific thing could have happened all those years ago? This is a book you do not want to miss. And if you are a Colleen Cobble fan, this is one of her best!

This story features the youngest son, Doug. And like my son did, like many young me do, Doug turns his back on God. Being on his own, now a college student, he finds different friends, and different things to enjoy, that is for a time. I know first hand the strain on a family when this happens, and a book like this one would have been very helpful. Though this is a fiction story, the family and spiritual values are the same as real life. If you have teenagers, this book will be very encouraging to you. And even if your child hasn’t turned his back on the Lord, it can happen to the strongest Christian. I highly recommend The Legacy for those dealing with young people of any age. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I’ve been waiting to read this book since I read the first book in this series from Kristy Cambron. I love the two parallel stories, or two women in entirely different time eras. But yet so much alike. Present time Sera James faces a lonely life with her husband spending time in  prison for something he didn’t do. When Kája Makovsky returns to her home city to rescue her family, she faces loosing the man she wants a life with. As the story unfolds for both of these ladies, I was so glued to this book, I couldn’t put it down. Ms. Cambron does such an amazing job of switching back and forth between the past and present lives of the two ladies, I found the story very easy to read and comprehend.

My only thing with the book was, I wanted more of Sera and William’s story. The book starts off with their wedding, and William’s arrest before the reception, and not much of their story was in the first half of the book. Kaja’s story was awesome as well, but I still wanted more of the present time. All in all, this is a great book, written very well, and well worth your read!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I enjoy reading book such as this one that takes place during the Revolutionary War. Ms. White does an amazing job describing the historical scenes, as well as the political issues, to make you feel like you are living in the story. At first I had a little trouble getting into the story, but after a few chapters, it started to get interesting. I really like Lyse Lanier. Her feisty sweet personality draws attention to her, in a good way, bringing her struggles to life. Her strength and courage helps give her strength to overcome the issues life brings her. I found myself glued to this story, eager to know what the end would bring. I am looking forward to more from author Beth White. I received this book from Revell to read and review. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
An Uncertain Choice is Jody Hedlund’s first YA novel, and as usual, she writes a wonderful entertaining story. I really like that she is writing a series for the younger generation. Lady Rosemarie Montfort finds out a vow made by her deceased parents for her 18th birthday, and she is devastated about having to follow a decision her parents made for her. But there is an exception to that vow, but can Lady Rosemarie fulfill that exception before the midnight hour?

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat because you have to find out what this young lady will do with her life. And Ms. Hedlund does a fantastic job of keeping your attention, with all of the twists and turns that happen in this story. I loved the characters, and the details of each scene in the story. It all makes you want to come back for more in the second book, so not only check this book out, but watch out for the next one!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

At first I wasn’t sure I would like this book, but as I kept read, I kept liking it more and more. It is one of my favorites in a while! This truth is, so many people go through just what Ruthie’s family went through with church people. And it is really so sad, because are we not suppose to forgive as Christians, and this truly didn’t happen in the life of this family. And I just couldn’t figure it all out, until the amazing twist at the end of the story. Well, I may have wondered here and there, but I wasn’t expecting the ending, and it made the story that much more enjoyable for me. A book of true love and forgiveness, and a little romance on the side!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Eloisa Carstairs may be the reigning beauty of Gilded Age Chicago society, but that doesn’t mean she is without problems and difficult heartaches. Eloisa is suffering from an assault by Douglass Sloane, another rich kid from a wealthy family in Chicago. Eloisa is scared to say anything about the assault, and she now feels that she has been ruined for life.

This is another awesome Shelley Shepard Gray book that I loved!! The second book in The Chicago World’s Fair Mystery Series, they mystery continues thoughout the community of the wealthy that live in the area. I really enjoyed the detailed information about the first Worlds Fair in Chicago, 1893, and again, Ms. Gray made me feel as though I was living during that era in the story! And then there is Detective Sean Ryan, from the other side of the tracks, as far as wealth is concerned. Sean grew up in an area that wasn’t fit or safe for someone like Miss Eloisa, and even though he was attracted to her, Sean knew Eloisa would never look at him twice. But the beauty of this story is, Eloisa was tired of being the daughter of one of the wealthiest families in Chicago, and was really eager to reach out to those in need to help them. Imagine what her parents thinks about this?

I highly recommend Deception on Sable Hill for those who love mysteries, as well as those who enjoy a good clean entertaining and fun story. While getting irritated at the rich folks and the way they live, you will also love the way Ms. Gray brings the entire Sable Hill staff into the story in a unique way. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Irene Hannon is just awesome, and when I start reading one of her books, I know I will not put it down until I absolutely have to. Again in Buried Secrets, Ms. Hannon hooked me from page one! We find out what is buried early on in the book, but its the guilty party that we need to look for. And get read for a thrilling journey full of twists and turns until the very end! The mystery, suspense, and tension will have you on the edge of your seat.
