Holiday Amnesia by Lynette Eason

With no memory, who can she trust?

A deadly Christmas in Wrangler’s Corner

Robin Hardy survived an explosion in her university lab – but her memories are gone. With danger lurking behind every Christmas tree, she needs shelter from the attackers she can’t identify. She’ll trust fellow professor Toby Potter to safely hide her away. But when his secrets come between them, the truth could mean the difference between life and death this holiday season.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Another wow book from Lynette Eason. And don’t let Love Inspired stop you from reading this. Sadly I’ve heard people that don’t read LI and they sure don’t know what they are missing! This is on of the best from Ms. Eason! I stayed most of the night reading Holiday Amnesia because I didn’t want to put it down until it was finished.

Robin Hardy survived a shooting and an explosion at the University lab she was working. But when the FBI guy working in the case involving her got to her, he heard a hit for her life, and to make things worse, she couldn’t remember the last 6 months of her life. Who wanted Robin dead and why?

This is such an amazing story full of thrills and lots of emotions of all kinds. Since Robin couldn’t remember, she wasn’t sure she could trust Toby, but she had no choice. Someone wanted he off the planet, and she had no where to go, no means of supporting herself. But everywhere they went to hideout, someone attacks, is it an inside job? Are there dirty law enforcements inside hunting Robin down?

One thing for sure, this story takes readers on a chase they will long remember. At some point I get impatient and think, why don’t you just get this person any way you can? I mean can’t they shoot their tires out or shoot them to hurt not kill when they are chasing on foot? But then I realize there wouldn’t be any fun reading a book that’s half the pages, and no fun in reading all of the chases and different ways the evil people work. So I realize I don’t know it all! And I love all it all!!

Another thing I love about Ms. Easons Books is the way she weaves the Christian life in the lives of her characters. I don’t always mention this, but it’s why I love Christian fiction so much! And an author that can do this and not sound preachy is a professional that does her job well!

This is a really good Christmas fiction to read! I highly recommend Holiday Amnesia! I received this book from Love Inspired Suspense and Nergalley to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal  Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

The Secret Language of Cats by Susanne Schotz

THE SECRET LANGUAGE OF CATS

About The Secret Language of Cats

Hardcover: 288 Pages

Publisher: Hanover Square Press; Original edition (November 1, 2018)

Have you ever wondered what your cat is saying?

Cats do not meow randomly, nor do they growl or hiss because they have nothing better to do. Cat sounds have a purpose, and they can carry important messages, whether for us or other cats.

Susanne Schštz is hard at work on breaking the cat code. She is a professor at Lund University in Sweden, where a long-standing research program is proving that cats do actually use vocal communication—with each other and with their human caretakers. Understanding the vocal strategies used in human-cat communication will have profound implications for how we communicate with our pets, and has the potential to improve the relationship between animals and humans within several fields, including animal therapy, veterinary medicine and animal sheltering.

In The Secret Language of Cats, Schštz offers a crash course in the phonetic study of cat sounds. She introduces us to the full range of feline vocalizations and explains what they can mean in different situations, and she gives practical tips to help us understand our cats better.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BIBLE

Wow! What is there not to like about this amazing Bible! I love the cover. The vivid blue against the white snow and Polar Bears is just absolutely beautiful! And I love that ZonderKidz created this stunning Bible for kids, and this one had boy written all over it, inside and out! There are beautiful pictures throughout this Bible. I also love that this Bible answers questions kids may have such as How Do I Pray?, or Do I have to close my eyes?. And Can I ask God anything?, or Why did Jesus have to die? It also has sections throughout on Life in Bible times, People in Bible Time, Did you know, and Words to Treasure. And each picture and section is teaching our children and grandchildren about Jesus. And this is what life is all about.

 MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I will have to say, I’ve never heard of mind-bending adventure games. So this was a new adventure for me. Grayson Thibodeaux ended up in the middle of his ex-wife’s murder,  being the prime suspect. All leads ended up with Grayson. Or was someone else trying to throw the blame on Grayson and get off scott free?

The investigation was interesting, I am always amazed at how investigators end up with so many leads, and figure out the person they need. And this one seemed like a cut and dry case, but the more I read the more holes came up in the investigation. I like Grayson. He was just all around a good guy, and loving Anna Belle wasn’t an easy job! But Anna Belle’s mom was a different thing. I love her, her character was well created and she was just the sweetest lady. It warmed my heart that their relationship started and would continue

I feel like I’m jumping around with this review, but there’s a lot going on in this story. A lot of interesting issues, and some not so fun. If you enjoy a good suspense/thriller, I highly recommend Stratagem by author Robin Caroll! I have read many of Ms. Carrol’s books and love them all! I encourage you to check out her other books when you check this one out!

A copy of this book was provided by Celebration Lit Tours for me to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine only.

Behind the Scenes: Robin Caroll Shares Her Inspiration for Writing Stratagem

Dear Reader,

Thank you for journeying to New Orleans in a web of deceit and confusion with me. Sharing a place that has such connection for me was a pure joy. South Louisiana offers such a laid-back attitude that I often miss “home.” I hope you’ll enjoy sampling a taste of the flavor of Louisiana.

Years ago I watched the movie The Game with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn and was enthralled. There’s just something grabbing about messing with a person’s mind and life by using their own feelings and instincts against them. When this story of Stratagem first began forming, I wanted to use all that intrigue to mess up the game master’s life. The end result is quite the ride!

As the characters came alive to me, I found the theme of forgiveness and acceptance coming out in the story. Some of the emotions within this story are very personal to me, and I’m honored I was able to share them with you. It is my wish that you may be touched by Grayson’s faith journey as well.

Until next time. . .

-Robin

Prism Grand Finale Blitz! A Cowboys Christmas Proposal-a clean and fun Romance by Cathy McDavid

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

Book Tour Grand Finale for
A Cowboy’s Christmas Proposal
By Cathy McDavid

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you can see snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch – Note from the Author

I’m so thrilled it’s finally here — my first Harlequin Heartwarming! After thirty books for Harlequin Western, I made the move to Heartwarming when my line closed last year, and I couldn’t be happier. To celebrate the release of A COWBOY’S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL, I have all kinds of exciting things planned, including a blog tour, fun interaction, and a great giveaway…

It’s All About the Romance – Guest Post

Where do you get your ideas?

Yeah, it’s a question writers get asked all the time. I wish I had something glib and interesting and fun to say in response instead of, “The internet or the news or while walking my dog,” all which happen to be the truth. That is, until recently…

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

HEARING WHAT SOUNDED like a hammer banging against metal, Molly O’Malley tossed the covers aside and sat bolt upright. Her sister had beaten her to the shower. Again. Now she’d be late getting downstairs—the last thing she wanted today of all days. After endless planning, preparation and backbreaking labor, Sweetheart Ranch was finally opening for business.

Molly pushed herself out of bed, excitement and nervousness replacing the fog of sleep. Grabbing her flannel robe hanging from the bedpost, she padded to the closet, every third floorboard creaking in angry protest. A single tug on the antique glass knob and the closet door glided open. Thank goodness. It just as often stuck and refused to budge.

Candrel’s Crafts, Cook, & Characters – Interview

What is it about your book that makes it stand out in this competitive genre?

I don’t think there are too many romance books with a cowboy-themed wedding ranch. At least, I haven’t seen any 😊 Neither have I come across a book with a cowboy wedding officiant for the hero. I hope that makes A COWBOY’S CHRISTMAL PROPOSAL a little unique and worth a look.

My Devotional Thoughts – Guest Post

Research for A COWBOY’S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL

Researching is part of a writer’s job. Most of the time it’s fun, we tend to write about what interests us so we find the research fascinating. It was no different for me when it came to finding interesting facts about weddings for my November release, A COWBOY’S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL. I learned all kinds of wedding history and trivia from the wacky to the wonderful. And I actually got to use some of it in my book!…

Remembrancy – Review

“Take a type-A woman intent on making the new family wedding planning business a success and throw in an unexpected elopement of one member of said family wedding planning business and a substitute officiator with three rambunctious children, and the recipe for entertainment is delicious! Oh, and did I mention this is all during the busy holiday season?”

Andi’s Book Reviews – Review

“I really can’t seem to get enough of the cowboy and rancher romance stories lately. This story gets bonus points for taking place during the Christmas season, because I also can’t get enough of the Christmas romances at this time of year. This book fit both perfectly.”

underneath the covers – Excerpt

“What’s this?” With her free hand, Molly tore off the note and started reading. The next instant, her fingers went slack, and she nearly dropped the pot. “I don’t believe it!”

“What’s wrong?” Bridget glanced up from sprinkling flour onto a rolling mat.

“Grandma’s gone.” The words fell from Molly’s mouth in a shocked whisper.

“Where? The café?”

“Try the Grand Canyon and then Nevada. In Homer’s RV.” Molly gaped at her sister, alarm battling with disbelief. “They’ve eloped. They’re getting married in Reno and then taking a monthlong road trip.”

Wishful Endings – Guest Post

An Author’s Print Copies

I’m lucky that my publisher sends me lots of copies of my books. Not only do I receive boxes of my current release, but I also get more boxes when my previous titles are re-released. This has happened as many as three different times, giving me multiple versions of the book. Which raises the question, what’s a person to do with all these free print book?…

E-Romance News – Excerpt

She was halfway to the girl when the arched doorway separating the parlor from the foyer and the chapel was filled by a pair of broad shoulders, a tall lanky form and a dark brown Stetson.

Molly came to a halt. She’d seen plenty of attractive cowboys since moving to Mustang Valley, but this one in his pressed jeans and Western-cut suede coat rated right up there. The fact that he balanced a third child in his left arm, this one a toddler, diminished none of his good looks.

Christy’s Cozy Corners – Review

A Cowboy’s Christmas Proposal is a really sweet romance with some fun characters and a cute story line. I love the idea of Sweetheart Ranch. I’m not sure I’d run a wedding venue…too much stress…but those cabins are just perfect. . . . Clean romance lovers will enjoy getting to know these characters and this charming town.”

Colorimetry – Excerpt

“NO OFFENSE, BUT you don’t look like a minister.”

Owen didn’t blame Molly for doubting him. He wasn’t really a minister. And his three intent-on-misbehaving offspring were hardly aiding his image.

“I got ordained online,” he explained. “A buddy asked me to officiate his wedding a few months ago. We had this bet and, well…”

“Is that even a real thing? Getting ordained online?”

He corralled his children closer. They’d attempted to wander off in three different directions, and the room had far too many breakables for his comfort level. “I guarantee you, I can legally marry people. In Arizona, at least.”

Jorie Loves A Story – Review

“This is a novel centered round family and how sometimes, in order to find the tomorrow [you’re] wanting most in your life – you have to be willing to take risks. Without risking your heart, you lose the chance to find someone who is your rightful match and without being willing to go outside your comfort zones – sometimes you miss opportunities for self-growth.”

Nicole’s Book Musings – Review

“This was a really cute story. . . . This book is one you don’t want to pass up. It has a make you feel good story with a wonderful cast of characters. This story will hit you right in the heart. Plus you can’t go wrong with the holiday season working it’s magic. “

Thoughts of a Blonde – Review

“An adorably sweet family-oriented romance! She’s too uptight, he’s too lackadaisical … but together, they shine! In a story of trying to pick up the pieces of a life that hasn’t quite worked out the way you planned, two people meet and fall in love in less than ideal circumstances. . . . The characters were well developed, the plot was steady and filled with cuteness and the story was overall a joy to read!”

Splashes of Joy – Review

“…this is a sweet story, one that you will sure want to read for your own enjoyment. It takes place during the Christmas holidays so it’s a fun and exciting story to read at this time of the year. I encourage you to pick up a copy for your own entertainment!”

I Am A Reader – Guest Post

Believing in Santa Clause

Who here used to believe in Santa Clause as a child? Okay, spoiler alert, if you still do believe in him, don’t read the rest of this post 😊

When I was child, I believed in Santa Clause with an unshakeable conviction…up until I was nine years old when my mother broke the news to me. Her reasoning, she told me at the time, was she feared the other kids at school would tell me, and I’d be devastated. News flash, Mom. I was devastated anyway. Didn’t matter that you were to the one to crush my happy illusion…

Book by Book – Spotlight

Inside the Mind of an Avid Reader – Review

A Cowboy’s Christmas Proposal by Cathy McDavid is an absolute lovely read. . . . You do not want to miss this great Christmas read.”

Book Lover in Florida – Excerpt

Molly immediately brightened. “Nora! Please tell me you’re here to rescue us.”

“What else would get me out of bed at this ungodly hour?”

Was eight forty-five an ungodly hour? Owen wondered. Apparently for Nora it was.

“I assume this is Homer’s great-nephew.” Removing her coat, she gave him careful consideration. “He didn’t mention you were easy on the eyes.”

Owen grinned. “He didn’t mention you were, either.”

Her dour countenance magically transformed into a delighted grin. “And charming to boot. I do believe this next month is going to be quite enjoyable.”

Britt Reads Fiction – Review

A Cowboy’s Christmas Proposal was a fun story. I really enjoyed the setting of the Sweetheart Ranch, a specialty wedding destination that had just opened as the book began. . . . The interactions between all of the characters in this story, including the children, felt very authentic.”

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt

“Did Grandma tell you all this?”

“She figured you’d be interested in him and wanted me to tell you.”

“Interested in him?” Molly feigned shock as if nothing could be further from the truth. “Whatever gave her that idea?”

The next second, Owen and his three kids strolled into the parlor. Molly went still, wishing she could disappear. How much of her and Nora’s conversation had he heard?

The last part of it, certainly, judging by the amused expression he wore.

Reading Is My SuperPower – Review

A Cowboy’s Christmas Proposal is cute, endearing, witty, and sweet. Not to mention the sparks that sizzle between Molly and Owen. The chaos the author has written into this novel is palpable – throw in the holidays, a new business, the stress of weddings (sometimes more than one in a single day), three restless (and adorable) kids, and the absence of two intended key players…. not to mention the losing battle of trying desperately not to fall in love. (because who needs more chaos?) And yet, the tender moments gradually overshadow the chaos – much like in real life – and leave readers breathing a blissful sigh of relief. Looking forward to more visits to the Sweetheart Ranch!”

While the cowboy turned wedding officiant can now spend more time with his children, Molly O’Malley, his new boss, is less thrilled. Little does Paris expect that when she enters the bakery to collect her gift, the bus will drop off none other than her old crush, Aquila Stutzman, the man she’d done everything except cartwheels and handstands to get his attention. And failed. Of course, Quil doesn’t remember her.

Quil was offered employment working on his grandparents’ new tree farm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Since he’s recovering from a broken heart when his longtime girlfriend Priscilla up and married his cousin, a move Quil never saw coming, he decides to take the job. This will give him time to separate himself from the hurt and maybe, eventually, move on.

Paris and Quil have sparks from the beginning, especially since his appearance causes a vicious rivalry between friends. But who can resist when a chance meeting beginning with donuts and coffee ends with a missing person, puppies, a skunk, and a sleigh ride—not to mention a trip the Amish young people plan to Niagara Falls. Could it also involve falling in love?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Paris is having a sweet birthday, her dad planned her scavenger hunt BD fun. Each place she would go to, there was a gift and a note that took her someplace else. But Quil Stutzmans unexpected arrival into town has Paris on edge because she wanted nothing to do with him because of the way he treated her before. But no worries, Paris’ friend Sarah pretty much throws herself at Quil, defaming Paris any way she could.  But no fooling Quil, His attraction to Paris was too strong. But would Paris give in to Quil after the way he treated her before?

I love this sweet story. And what a sweet dad to make sure his daughter has a fun birthday! I really like Quil and Paris, Paris has a sweet and giving personality and Quil is quick to notice. But Sarah, I could do without. I just wanted to slap her for her attitude. But what fun would a story be without the Sarah’s!

One thing I always appreciate author Laura V Hilton for is the way she weaves the Christian life into her characters, and the way she shares the Gospel of Christ in her books. But it’s in a subtle way, never harsh or preachy. This is a sweet cozy story to read during the Christmas holiday season. And it’s short enough that you can read it in one or two settings! So check Love’s Christmas Blessings for some Chris fun and entertainment!

Mistletoe and Miracles

Daniel Graber has spent years caring for his aging parents. Now Daed’s in rehab with a broken hip and a bad case of irritability. He snaps at the workers and complains about doing physical therapy, so Daniel is grateful for the new aide, Fern Chupp, who uses her sweetness and charm to convince Daed to cooperate. Turns out, Daed isn’t the only one she charms.

As a widow, Fern is grateful for her new job at Fairview Rehab Center, even though it meant relocating to Ephrata, Pennsylvania, with her nine-year-old daughter, Lyddie. But Lyddie is grieving the recent death of her grandfather and dislikes leaving her Ohio home. Lyddie’s shyness also makes it difficult to make friends or recite school lessons.

When her class goes to the rehab center to interview patients, Lyddie’s too scared to do her assignment, so she runs away. During the hunt for her missing daughter, independent Fern learns to accept and appreciate Daniel’s help and support. By the time they discover Lyddie, she’s made a very unusual friend, and Fern and Daniel have developed a . Can four lonely heart create special bonds to make it a Christmas to remember?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This story has a different twist to it. Of course it’s common for an Amish dad to be grumpy, at least in a lot of the Amish stories I’ve read. But this one has a little girl that is so shy she goes to the extremes to keep from taking in from if anyone. And then by accident the grumpy man meets shy little girl and well, you need to read this story to find out what really happens. There are a lot of twists and turns to this story, but it makes it more interesting.

I like Fern, she is kind of shy herself, but she is determined to work and support herself and her daughter. Daniels interest in Fern is a sweet turn of events, as well as Ferns interest in Daniel. There are several heartwarming and touching moments in this story. Author Rachel Good does a wonderful job of weaving love and forgiveness in the lives of some of the characters. And the way the people at the nursing home comes together to help Fern with her financial expenses was very touching. It’s too bad we don’t have more friends and neighbors like that. Daniel and Ferns story is another sweet story that you will enjoy. Especially if you enjoy Amish stories, or just a good clean, cozy story to read! This is your pick!

I love both of these stories, and they are stories I will sure be going back and reading again! A copy of this book was provided by Celebration Lit Tours for me to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine only.

This is the third journal I have reviewed for Ellie Claire and I just can’t pick one that I love the most. This one teaches illuminating lettering. I’ve seen this type of lettering but never know what it is called and the story behind it. These Illuminated letters are inspired by the Museum of the Bible’s collections. When using Illuminating letters, they are usually used to start a paragraph or page. These letters are large in comparison with the rest of your letters. They are very beautifully drawn and colored with vibrant colors. This journal shows how to make those letters in a simple way that even I may can draw them. I don’t know how I will do, I don’t show my work, but they are turning out pretty good. And what fun! With all of the coloring going on today, this journal is a perfect addition to your stash! And you can write your feelings for the day right along with the beautiful letters.

In addition to the beautiful fun letters, this journal is very well made. The outside is a very high quality hardcover, and I love that it’s made to stay flat so you can draw, color and write. The inside pages are also of high quality paper and the colors will not bleed to the following page.

Hillsong Kids! Can You Believe It DVD!

Hillsong Kids cd, Can You Believe It?

Buy Link:  http://hllsng.co/canyoubelieveit?IQid=blog

Talking Points

“Can You Believe It!? – Songs of Truth” is both a question and a challenge… a statement of gratitude to a loving God and an invitation to explore the very foundations of faith. Classic songs like “My Best Friend”, “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” and “What A Beautiful Name” join brand new declarations of faith such as “As The World Shakes” & “Heaven Is Our Home”. We pray that this collection of fun and vibrant songs, help children around the world to declare biblical truths about God’s love and grace for them.

Bio

Hillsong believes that teaching children to love God and others takes place in both the home and in the church. For this reason they seek to partner with parents (the greatest teachers of all!) and with church pastors and leaders, equipping them with great resources. Through fun experiences, meaningful music and ministry that encourages kids to participate, Hillsong Kids presents Jesus Christ and His Church in a relevant way, creating moments which children will never forget.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS DVD

Again, Hillsong does what it does best, creates a DVD geared especially for kids around 8-15 years of age. I love that “Can You Believe It” it for this age group because so often it seems this age doesn’t get the attention they should. This DVD is wonderful. Funny Man Dan was a focus on the video that made sure the kids would enjoy everything about the video. The songs were beautiful, some I knew well, some I didn’t know but enjoyed listening to, as well as listening to the interviews of those singing the songs.

The main focus of this DVD is to teach kids about Jesus, using unique ways to teach, such as games and the songs. And everything is upbeat, to capture the kids attention! And even adults can enjoy this DVD with your child, and certainly the songs can be enjoyed by everyone.

I also went to the Hillsong website and they have a wealth of information about this new DVD, so I highly recommend that you check out the information. And this would make an excellent Christmas gift! I have a 9 year old niece that will be enjoying “Can You Believe It” when she comes to visit!

Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing this prize for the giveaway.  Choice of winners and opinions are 100% my own and NOT influenced by monetary compensation.  I did receive a sample of the product in exchange for this review and post.

Paperback & ebook, 384 Pages
November 1st 2018 by Harlequin Heartwarming

At a magical time of year…

Can a cowboy help falling in love?

For single dad Owen Caufield, living and working at Sweetheart Ranch for a month is the perfect change of pace. While the cowboy turned wedding officiant can now spend more time with his children, Molly O’Malley, his new boss, is less thrilled. A wedding ranch isn’t the best place for three rambunctious youngsters. But amid the chaos—and the coming holidays—it may be the best place to fall in love…

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Molly O’Malley now lives on a ranch running a wedding venue with her aunt and sister. Only thanks to her aunt, she is left in charge of the business  with her sister making sure the food and wedding cakes are made to perfection. But then Owen Caufield shows up with his three small kids, announcing he is the fill-in wedding officiant. Life is about to get interesting at The Sweetheat Ranch!

This is just the sweetest story! Living in an old ranch house turned wedding venue sounds amazingly wonderful to me. It would be fun running a business like this with family members. It would for sure never be a dull moment. Though Molly was good at what she was doing, I found her attitude and personality a bit much. Or I should say a bit lacking when it came to a certain cowboy. I couldn’t understand why she gave Owen such a difficult time when he went out of his way for her.

Now Owen, he is a different story! I really liked him from the start. And his story with his kids was sad, though he was determined to fix that. I loved that he took full responsibility of his three children. Though they were a handful at times, I had to chuckle when things didn’t go the way they should. It seemed as though every time his kids were out in the open, there was trouble, as it is with any small children, especially when you have three. But Owen was always there, and I loved that about him. And loved that he was determined to make a full month with his 3 work, no matter the cost. And the sweet results at the end was worth every minute he spent with them.

As I said, this is a sweet story, one that you will sure want to read for your own enjoyment. It takes place during the Christmas holidays so it’s a fun and exciting story to read at this time of the year. I encourage you to pick up a copy for your own entertainment!

Welcome back to Shores of Indian Lake series! For those of you who haven’t visited my series yet or known my characters, I think you’ll love this story of Beatrice Wilcox and Rand Nelson equally as all the other Heartwarming people of Indian Lake…

Indian Lake, Indiana

THE SUMMER NIGHT sounds of chirping tree frogs and cicadas drifted through the open screen window of Beatrice Wilcox’s sixty-year-old log cabin. Loving the wildlife melodies, she closed her eyes, her weary body spent from a long day with ten rowdy, sometimes frustratingly taciturn children and preteens.

But running this camp was her dream. She wanted to create a summer idyll for kids who faced challenges in their young lives, as she had when she’d been a camper herself as a child.

Locks, Hooks and Books – Guest Post

When I think of forest fires, I remember living in Los Angeles, California for over a decade and how so many of our decisions were based on the constant of fires.

We lived on the world’s tiniest houseboat in Marina Del Rey ON the water and far from anything resembling a forest. Yet,my husband’s elderly aunt and uncle lived in Novato, on top of a mountain surrounded by nothing but forest…

Book by Book – Review

“Don’t worry if you have not yet read Lanigan’s other Shores of Indian Lake books. Rescued by the Firefighter can easily be read and enjoyed as a standalone. So, if you are in need of a sweet contemporary romance, make sure to check this one out—I recommend it.”

E-Romance News – Excerpt

Cindy came rushing up with five-year-old Ricky Sanders, the youngest child at the camp that week. He was a foster child, hoping to be legally adopted by his new foster parents, and was Cindy’s personal favorite. “Did one of you get the Dunning boys?”

“Eli and Chris are in the last cabin,” Beatrice replied. “I thought you were getting them.”

“I was…” Cindy hesitated, looking at Ricky. She put Ricky in his child’s seat and belted him in. She turned away from the boy so that only Beatrice could hear her. Nearly in a whisper Cindy said, “They weren’t there. That’s why I thought one of you might have gotten to them already.”

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

RAND NELSON PULLED his fire engine to a stop in front of the camp and stared over the steering wheel in disbelief at what he was seeing: a woman running toward the fire.

“No way in…”

He jumped out the driver’s door, his heavy leather-booted feet hitting the ground with a thud. He grabbed his thermoplastic helmet off the console, then his goggles and pigskin gloves.

Rand had fought fires from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Idaho to California. He knew exactly the kind of conditions that it took for Mother Nature to burn. But there had been no thunderstorms here in Indian Lake. No lightning bolts. And not quite enough heat to spark spontaneous combustion. No, this was a fire started by human hands. Rand would bet his reputation on it.

And if he was right, Chris had all the more reason to stay clear.

Rand had one shot at bringing out Chris. He had to take it.

“Chris! I know you can hear me. It’s safe now. Eli is safe.”

Rand kept going, toward the most burned section of forest. It was his guess that it had been near here where the fire started.

“Such a touching story! With a return visit to Shores of Indian Lake, we see lots of the old regulars and meet some news ones as we embark on a heartwarming story of hope. . . . overall a really sweet story of love when you least expect it and reaching for it even when it’s outside of your comfort zone. Sweet kids, a sexy fireman and a story about reaching for the stars and achieving them!”

“From the start I knew that I was going to enjoy these two characters. A caregiver and a firefighter, two people you want to live happily ever after. . . . The ending definitely made me teary eyed, and I can not wait to read more from this author. I would love to read up and see how these characters are doing. Especially the kids and the camp. I am giving this book a 5/5.”

“Author, Catherine Lanigan, successfully weaves enticing romance into her otherwise, suspense gram stories. . . . it has enough intrigue and writing which keeps it interesting, that the reader still will not want to put it down. The research she did on the subject matters covered in this tale was remarkable.”

Seriously, when you see all this gear these guys and gals have strapped to their backs and that they carry INTO a fire, all I can think is how strong they have to be to perform their job.

In RESCUED BY THE FIREFIGHTER, Rand Nelson saves Beatrice Wilcox and little Eli Dunning from the raging forest fire. He carries Beatrice and Eli at the same time out of the fire…

“A sweet story that fits in perfectly with the Indian Lake universe, Rescued by the Firefighter reminds us of the power of love to heal even the deepest wounds. Layered characters that are genuinely likable, a charming setting, and great romantic tension – all of these elements make this a great choice for a cozy weekend read!”

Wincing, she glanced up and saw him.

He was leaning against the doorjamb. Gone were the Nomex suit, goggles and gloves. The helmet. She noticed his thick, dark, nearly black hair first. A hunk of shining, slightly damp hair hung over his strong forehead. His jawline looked like it had been carved from granite. In fact, everything about him was strong. He didn’t need a firefighter’s suit to make his shoulders wide; his presence filled the doorway, the room, the expanse between them. He wore a black short-sleeved T-shirt that stretched over biceps that could only have been built by hours in a gym. His black jeans fitted close to his narrow hips and muscular thighs. He wore no jewelry. No watch, no wedding ring, no tats. There was nothing extraneous or ornamental about this man. It wasn’t necessary—his whole being shouted, “I’m a man.”

He pushed himself off the door and took a short step inside. “You okay?”

“This novel is full of a cast of characters that readers are sure to enjoy, from the adults and their sweet romance to the children and their fun inclusion in the book. This is a touching and heart-warming sweet contemporary romance that lovers of the Harlequin Heartwarming line are sure to enjoy!”

Jorie Loves A Story – Review & Guest Post

“I liked how the layers were set early-on, how Lanigan gives you a glimpse of where she wants this story to go direction wise but holds back some of the key bits as well. She wants you to wait it out and see how it unfolds – taking it gently and allowing you to understand her characters without prejudgement.”

Although it’s romantic and fun to conjure visions of me interviewing a crew of firefighters about their emotions and dealings in relationships, that was not quite the case. I did talk to both husbands and wives who deal with the stress of one or both being employed in high risk fields but to be honest, their attitude was “everything in life is high risk”…

Among the Reads – Review

“This is a fun, sweet story. Though there is a dramatic rescue at the onset, it is not a suspenseful or action-filled story, it is more about the relationship between the main characters.”

Harlie’s Books – Review

“Do yourself a favor and read this series and particularly this book. It has heart, some serious issues that need to be dealt with but overall, I sniffled, sighed and I’m thinking about Rand and Bea. That’s great storytelling.”

Remembrancy – Review

“For readers who have been following Catherine Lanigan’s Shores of Indian Lake series, there are plenty of familiar faces (names?) within the pages of Rescued by the Firefighter. And for those who have missed the previous books, this may just be the best time to jump into them because Beatrice and Rand are brand new characters who (at least to my knowledge. But full disclosure: I have read most but not every book in the series) haven’t been introduced before.”

Teatime and Books – Excerpt

“I’ll walk you to your truck,” she said and turned to grab her crutches from the porch railing.

“No need. I can see the way.”

“Good night vision, too, huh?”

He decided he didn’t want their time together to end, so he stood at the bottom step as she followed him down. “You’re getting pretty good with those things.”

“I’m trying,” she said and walked alongside him to his truck.

“Rescued by the Firefighter by Catherine Lanigan is a great read. This book is a welcoming visit back to Shores of Indian Lake. . . . I enjoyed this exciting heartwarming romance.”
