About this book
Big dreams take big leaps of faith . . . but what if you trip on the way?
A lowly seamstress at a swanky bridal boutique, Gabi Delgado dreams of doing more than ripping out seams and fitting dresses to doe-eyed brides. She wants to see her own original dress designs gracing the young women of Texas. But when Jordan Singer, reporter for Texas Bride magazine, visits the shop to do a feature, Gabi is humbled in his influential–and unnervingly handsome–presence.
Convinced she’ll never get her dreams off the ground now, Gabi needs lots of encouragement–especially from her friend Bella Neeley–to take a chance and start her business. And as she gets to know Jordan, she discovers that she may have to take a chance on love as well.
Praise for the Weddings by Design Series
“Funny one-liners and absolutely lovable characters combine with just enough romantic tension to keep the pages turning.”–RT Book Reviews on Picture Perfect
“This breezy, fun-filled romance is sure to please readers who have been eagerly awaiting the second series installment.”–Library Journal on The Icing on the Cake
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Gabi is so frustrated now that she just can’t seem to design her dream dress like she had dreamed of for so long. But those around her will not let her give up, so they did whatever they could to encourage her to keep on designing. What she didn’t expect was to me Jordan Singer along the way. And singer just seems like a good name for a seamstress doesn’t it?
I have enjoyed Janice Thompson’s Wedding by Design Series because she just knows how to write a fantastic romance! As Gabi meets Jordan, I enjoyed following their journey. Though the story was pretty straight forward, but not a lot of twists and turns, I was still glued to the story, because I wanted to see if it would end like I wanted it to! This is truly a story for the romantic at heart! I think a young lady engaged to be married or just married would love to read this book and this series! Thus, I have passed The Dream Dress and the others books in this series along to my new daughter-in-law!

The Icing on the Cake
by Janice Thompson
Scarlet isn’t sure if she has just the right ingredients for true love–or utter disaster
Scarlet Lindsey is busy making her dreams come true. She’s moved her bakery to a prime spot on Galveston’s most popular street, she’s planning an extravagant cake for her best friend’s wedding, and she has a great relationship with Bella Neeley, the island’s most popular wedding coordinator. Business is booming and Scarlet is enjoying the ride.

The Icing on the Cake by Janice Thompson was a really fun and entertaining book to read. The characters are just out of this world good, just as they were in the first book in this series. Scarlet was excited that she finally has her own bakery, but sometimes things do not run as smoothly as she wants, especially with her aunt, when puts some spice to the story. I also appreciated that Ms. Thompson has Scarlet face difficult personal issues that we all face at one time or another, because it makes the story seem so realistic. I have only read a few books by Janice Thompson, but I really enjoyed them all, and I always enjoy visiting characters from other books and series. The story just keeps going on and on, and these are characters that I would love to just keep reading about. I can’t want for Book Three in this series, I know it will by another winner my Ms. Thompson.

Picture Perfect
by Janice Thompson
She’s trying to focus on her future. How can one man make everything feel so . . . fuzzy?
Hannah McDermott has a successful photography studio. She’ll soon be featured in Texas Bride magazine. And she has a celebrity client whose Galveston ceremony will be her ticket to the top spot on wedding coordinator Bella Neeley’s list of recommended photographers. But it could all come crashing down around her because of one man: archrival and photographer extraordinaire Drew Kincaid.
As the competition between Hannah and Drew heats up, Hannah is surprised to find that it’s not the only thing getting more intense. She can’t get the handsome man out of her thoughts-or even out of her line of sight-and the job of her dreams is turning into a nightmare. Will everything she’s worked for slip out of her hands? And can she see past her pride to find a picture-perfect love?
With contagious humor and a cast of quirky characters, Janice Thompson gives you crazy bridal-business drama, sweet romance, and a satisfying dose of laughter.
My Thoughts on this book
Just as the other books I’ve read by Janice Thompson, Picture Perfect is an enjoyable and fun read, with characters that you will grow to love. Hannah is a fun character and wanted desperately to fulfill this opportunity that could boost her photography business, but it wasn’t as easy as she might have thought.
I enjoyed the humor in this wedding story, even though it wasn’t difficult to see where the story line was going. But not to worry about knowing what will happen, there is enough going on in this story to keep you interested and wanting to read to the end. If you enjoy light, heartwarming reads with a good bit of humor involved, you will love Picture Perfect. I highly recommend this for a wonderful enjoyable reading experience.

About Queen of the Waves
Two families on opposite sides of the globe are shaken by the rise and fall of the Titanic, “queen of the ocean.”
When pampered Jacqueline Abington makes secret plans to elope with the family gardener, she concocts a scheme for another woman to take her place on the much-anticipated maiden voyage of the Titanic. From a poor corner of London, Tessa Bowen has been granted the opportunity of a lifetime-a ticket to sail to America aboard a famed vessel. But there’s a catch: she must assume another woman’s identity. For the first time in her life, Tessa stays in expensive quarters, dresses in luxurious gowns, and dines with prestigious people. Then a wealthy young American man takes an interest in her, and Tessa must struggle to keep up the ruse even as she finds herself falling for him. When tragedy strikes, the game is up, and Tessa’s life is forever changed.
“I absolutely loved this novel. Janice Thompson captures the true heart of the voyage and makes us feel as if we are a part of the Titanic. She also makes sure God’s love shines through this tragedy and shows that He has better things in store!” -Cathy Peeling, great-niece of Edward Smith, captain of the Titanic
“Janice Thompson has concocted a tale I couldn’t put down. Queen of the Waves is a deft weaving of deceit confronted by truth, shame confounded by love, and guilt swallowed in forgiveness. Beautifully written, this is a very different take on Titanic’s many stories-one you won’t want to miss, one you won’t forget.” -Christy-Award winning author Cathy Gohlke
I’ve read several books on the Titanic this year so I was excited to read Queen of the Waves for another story about this time in history, which I’m surprised because I really didn’t care for the movie that much. But I really like Janice Thompson’s story of Tessa and Nathan, alone with the other characters involved with Tessa being on the ship in the first place. Tessa is such a sweet person with a personality that rubs off on those around her, as we see in the story. Throughout all of the horrible tragedy with Titanic, this is a story readers can really enjoy and appreciate. And the vivid details of the time in history leading up to when the Titanic set sail, and as the story unfolds until the end, well it is just an awesome history lesson.
Of course this book is only fiction, and these things didn’t happen aboard the ship, but I loved imagining what it was like, with all of the rich and famous, and imagining what it was like to be there during the horrific tragedy. I thoroughly enjoyed Queen of the Waves and highly recommend it for your reading enjoyment. You will not be disappointed.
