ABOUT THIS BOOK

Quirky Fiona McGrath loves her job as a Child Life Specialist at a Dunedin, Florida hospital. As a former foster child, she understands trauma and wants to ensure no child ever faces the same kind of fears she once did. But are fears truly in the past?
Gabe Cavenaugh’s life is right on schedule. As the youngest assistant Chief Financial Officer in the hospital’s history, he has much to prove, but he’s confident he can do anything he’s asked. After all, he’s secure in his faith and has the constant support of his family.
When Gabe is directed to make cuts in order to balance the hospital’s budget, his search leads him to the Child Life Program and to Fiona. How can this crazy, hat-wearing woman, who rides around on a sparkly scooter possibly be a vital member of the medical team?
As Fiona works to persuade Gabe about her job’s necessity, he begins to see there’s more to her and her work with young patients than wacky clothes.
But will she be enough to save her program? And could she possibly be enough for a man like Gabe?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I don’t know that I have read any books with the main character a Child Life Specialist. Nor did I really know what this was until I read this book. Fiona McGrath was the perfect person for this job because as a former foster child, she knows all of the fears children going through the system has, and she has definitely know doubts, especially about her self worth. I think Lorna Seilstad does an amazing job of researching well this topic, as well as creating characters that are so well established throughout the story.

This is a very well written and enjoyable book. The sweet romance mixed with a lot of laughs and humor weaved throughout this story of dealing with difficult issues balances itself out well. I have read several Lorna Seilstad books and I always enjoy the laughs! I appreciate too that Fiona was a Christian, and her faith during her difficult times was brought up and talked about in nice understanding ways. And I love that the Christian life and God’s love is so apparent in this story through the characters.

Who doesn’t enjoy a sweet cozy romance to read that is clean enough that your teenager can read it? I highly recommend this book to all of you romance lovers out there!

As Love Blooms by Lorna Seilstad

Young romance opens like a rose . . . but even a rose has its thorns.

Tessa Gregory is nothing if not tenacious. Denied a position as a horticulturist at prestigious Como Park in Saint Paul, Minnesota, she is not above a little benevolent deception in order to get the park superintendent to change his mind and hire her. She plans to infiltrate the world of wealthy and influential people in hopes of drumming up financial support for a world-class conservatory. But before she can put those plans into action, she meets Reese King, a handsome gardener at Como Park–and a major distraction. Still, Reese might be the key to achieving her dream. But is his goal to help her . . . or to capture her heart?

Against the lush backdrop of manicured gardens and greenhouses full of the exotic, Lorna Seilstad weaves a sweet and sassy story that is sure to delight.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Teresa Gregory is a feisty and determined young lady, and when she sets her heart to do something, there is no stopping her. That includes working at Como Park in Saint Paul, and meeting park worker Reece King just added fuel to the fire. When Reece let Teresa volunteer at the Park working with him, Ms. Gregory was able to live her dreams designing gardens. But that’s not all that happened during this time they were working together. Attraction started to build between these two, but nothing could really become of it because of the difference in the lifestyles of the two. Or could it?

Lorna Seilstad has written another fantastic and enjoyable read! I loved these characters, they were believable and unique and found their way to my heart early in the book. No only did we follow the life of Teresa and her desire tohave the vocation of a horticulturist as something she wanted to do in her life, we also had a glimpse of the women’s rights in the 1913’s as we followed Teresa’s aunt as she and the three sisters attended meetings about the women’s rights movement. And Teresa fit right in with it all in working with Reece. And getting back to Reece and Teresa, they were both so excited when the gardens were completed at Como Park, and Reece was going to reveal that Teresa was the brains in designing his garden, but things didn’t go quite like it was suppose to, and well, that’s where you need to read the book, because its just too much to reveal! I highly recommend As Love Blooms, and I know you will enjoy this awesome read as much as I did!

Revell Presents….While Love Stirs by Lorna Seilstad

While Love Stirs

by Lorna Seilstad

while love stirs

Take one lovely young woman.
Add two ambitious young men.
Stir . . . and stand back.

As a graduate of Fannie Farmer’s School of Cookery, Charlotte Gregory is thrilled to have the opportunity to travel, lecture, and give cooking demonstrations on the very latest kitchen revolution–the gas stove. And she certainly doesn’t mind that the gas company has hired the kindhearted Lewis Mathis to entertain at her lectures.

Lewis encourages Charlotte’s work, especially her crusade to introduce fresh, appetizing, nutritious food to those convalescing in hospitals. But young hospital superintendent Dr. Joel Brooks is not convinced any changes should be made–especially by this outspoken young woman.

When Charlotte and Joel are coerced into planning a fund-raising gala for the hospital, will this combustible pair explode?

Follow the second Gregory sister as she looks for true love and makes her way in a rapidly changing world in this breezy, lighthearted love triangle that will keep you guessing.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Charlotte graduated from Fannie Farmer’s School of Cookery in 1910 and she knows her foods and cooking. But Dr. Joel Brooks wasn’t happy when Charlotte let him know he was feeding the patients at his hospital the most balanced meal. They seemed to hit it head on for a while, but then several situations started softening Dr. Brooks at bit about Charlotte and maybe she isn’t to bad after all?

I have read all of  Lorna Seilstad’s books and love them all!! Ms. Seilstad has a wonderful way of writing that makes you smile. Her books are fun, funny, interesting and entertaining, and a real joy to read. And While Love Stirs was one of her best! I really enjoyed the information about the early days of Fannie Farmer’s School of Cookery, and what Charlotte had learned as a student. I enjoyed the cooking contest and the classes Charlotte taught on the new gas range. And Charlotte’s spunky and determined personality was a hoot because she would stand up against anyone if she thought she was right. All in all, this is a really awesome read. For those who enjoy a light, good, clean and fun read, I highly recommend While Love Stirs by Lorna Seilstad! You will be pleasantly pleased that you picked up this book!

When Love Calls by Lorna Seilstad

When Love Calls

by Lorna Seilstad

When romance calls, will she choose to answer?

Hannah Gregory is good at many things, but that list does not include following rules. So when she must apply for a job as a switchboard operator to support her two sisters, she knows it won’t be easy. Hello Girls must conduct themselves according to strict-and often bewildering-rules, which include absolutely no consorting with gentlemen while in training.

Hannah doubts it will be difficult to keep that rule-until a handsome young lawyer starts getting under her skin.

With historic details that bring to life the exciting first decade of the twentieth century, Lorna Seilstad weaves a charming tale of companionship that blossoms into sweet romance.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I loved reading When Love Calls. Lorna Seilstad writes the most entertaining and fun-lovin’ books. With characters like Hannah Gregory, who’s mouth seems to keep her in trouble, and Lincoln Cole, bigtime lawyer, but with a soft heart for Hannah and her sisters, readers will be delighted with the details and twists and turns within the pages of this book.

Mix a well to do lawyer and Hannah and her sisters just trying to survive having enough food to eat and a place to live, makes for an intriguing and heartwarming story. And add a few cupfuls of humor, and you will sure be entertained for a few days as you read When Love Calls. And just when does love call? Well thats why you need to read this wonderful book! Lorna Seilstad creates an entertaining story filled with delightful characters and romance set at the Lake Manawa summer resort in 1906.  Feisty heroine Lilly Hart’s exploits will make you laugh out loud and sigh contentedly as she navigates the summer’s adventures.

The only man pragmatic Lilly Hart needs in her life is a six year old. Widowed two years ago, Lilly leaves the shelter of her intrusive in-laws’ home to stand on her own and provide for her young son by working for the summer as a cook at Lake Manawa. However, her in-laws find that life utterly unsuitable for their grandson, and when a row ensues, a handsome stranger–who designs roller coasters, of all things–intercedes on her behalf. Still, Lilly is not about to get involved with any man, especially this cocky (though charismatic) gentleman. Little does she know she is about to begin the ride of her life.

The Ride of Her Life by Lorna Seilstad

 MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

First of all, if you don’t have this book on your summer reading list, it needs to be there! This is such a good, fun, interesting and light read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Lilly Hart is trying to make it on her own after moving from her ex-in-laws mansion. It has been three years since Lilly lost her husband to a train wreck, and its time to move on. But that is not what Mr. and Mrs. Hart thinks. Well they don’t really care that much about Lilly, but they expect her to give them full custody of her six-year old son. Are they wanting to raise another child? Not on your life! They want to send him off to boarding school like they send Levi’s dad so many years ago. Boarding school is much better than having a child raised by his mom, don’t you know? Sad thing is, the Hart’s are determined to take Levi from his mom, and Lilly is just as determined to make sure they don’t touch him.

Lorna Seilstad has written another fun, funny summer fun book for her readers to enjoy! Lilly and Nick are adorable and I am so glad he took up for Lilly against the in-laws from the jerk-snob Hart mansion. Have you ever ran across people that you just wanted to slap right out of your life? Well that’s what I wanted Lilly to do to the jerk ex’s. How dare they act that they did!

Well they did, and Lilly handled it well, along with Nick, who was supervisor building the new roller coaster for the summer park. Nick was the father figure Lilly’s son Levi needed at his young age and he filled it well. And if he could break through Lilly’s this wall around her, he wanted to be there for her too!

Having grown up pretty close to a small theme park with a smaller version roller coaster than those today, I really enjoyed the information on the building of a roller coaster. I had always wondered how they worked, and Lorna did an excellent job of describing in details how it all comes together. And this one was a two-car deal and went a whopping 15 miles per hour! Mind you, the setting for this story is 1906, so that’s pretty fascinating for this era.  For me, this information was an added fun and interesting part to the story.

And as you can tell from my review, I highly recommend this book for your summer read. This light and fast read will take you away from the stress of live and take you on a ride of your life, literally!
