Becoming Bea | The Courtships of Lancaster County series

Can Bea and Ben Turn Rivalry Into Romance?

Beatrice Zook knows God wants her to learn patience toward others. When assisting a family overwhelmed by triplets proves surprisingly successful, her confidence in dealing with others, both young and old, grows.

One person she’ll never be able to find peace with though is Ben Rupp. They’ve known each other forever, and Ben understands precisely how to antagonize her. What neither she nor Ben will admit is that beneath all their bickering, attraction awaits. When friends decide to try and bring the couple together, will the pair be able to find true love? Or will they damage their relationship beyond repair?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I have read all of the books in this series, and I so much enjoyed visiting all of the familiar characters. In this book, Bea has the opportunity to help a family with triplets, which changed her life. And then there is Ben, that turned up in her life once more. The Ben that she dated before, and they didn’t exactly end on good terms. Will being together this time change their feelings for each other?

I loved reading this book, it felt like coming back home with the characters, and we see Bea, and also Ben in a more personal way. And they both annoyed me at times because of the way they acted around each other. Like small kids that couldn’t get along! And the romance here is pretty subdued but all in all, it is a good read and I think you will enjoy it. And I encourage you to pick up a copy of the first three books in the series to read as well. Though this is ok for a stand alone read, it is much more enjoyable if you have read the other stories first.

I received this book from Litfuse to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

Courting Cate

by Leslie Gould

About Courting Cate:
When This Couple Gets to Courting, Sparks Will Fly!
In Paradise, Pennsylvania, Cate Miller is known more for her sharp tongue and fiery temper than her striking appearance. Her sweet and flirty sister, Betsy, on the other hand, seems to have attracted most of the bachelors in Lancaster County!
But the sisters’ wealthy father has made one hard-and-fast rule: older Cate must marry first, before younger Betsy can even start courting. Unfortunately, untamable Cate has driven away every suitor-until Pete Treger comes to town, that is.
Prodded by the men of the area, Pete turns his attention to winning Cate’s hand. But is his interest true or is there a scheme at play?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Being twenty-three years old and not married is not normal in the Amish world. But that was the case for Cate. She felt ugly and didn’t feel like anyone wanted her for a wife, so she decided she would forever be single. That is until her dad decided that his oldest daughter had to get married first, which didn’t go over too well with Cate’s younger sister.

I enjoyed the realistic characters created by the author, and especially the way the story took a little different twist from most Amish books. Cate Miller was not your typical Amish young lady because she didn’t have the interest of most Amish lady’s such as cooking and canning and taking care of the home. She would rather be reading, and she sure didn’t mind speaking her peace, which is not what an Amish man would want for a wife!

Author Leslie Gould weaves a story together with characters that keep the story exciting and interesting. The book started off a little slow for me, but it soon became interesting, especially when the dad stepped in with his edict to stir things up a bit. I encourage you to pick up a copy of Courting Cate for you to read. And if you enjoy Amish fiction, you will especially enjoy this book!
