Love Overboard By Rachelle Paige Campbell Contemporary Romance Paperback & ebook, 202 Pages February 24th 2020 by Wild Rose Press

Forced to share a stateroom with her ex-fiancé, Caitlyn fakes amnesia to stay on board her dream Alaskan cruise. Torn over deciding his future, Cruise Director Gregory tumbles into helping her. As they grow closer, unspoken secrets threaten to rip them apart, for good.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Love Overboard is a really nice short and sweet romance read. Caitlyn found herself in a shockingly embarrassing Alaskan cruise, one that was suppose to be with her sister, but turned out very differently. In the beginning, I grew to like these characters, and the plot kept me wanting to keep reading to know the ending. The cruise was a fun setting, though the atmosphere was not the fun happy place Caitlyn wanted to be. Her sister was to be her roommate, not a strange guy she had never met named Greg. But she was determine to take the crhise anyway, but she didn’t aimed for it to change her life completely like it did.

I think this is more of a novella, because it is rather short. And I enjoy a short book at times when I don’t have the time to read a full book. For me, it seemed that the characters didn’t fully develop as deep as I wanted them to. But all in all it is a great romance to read. I encourage you to check this  book out for a fee hours of entertainment and enjoyment.

51HM2PUxfJL._SY346_

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I just love second chances, and I thoroughly enjoyed Hometown Healing. Paige Cordell’s plans was to move home with her mom just until she could get back on her feet. And the main thing she needs to do is to stay away from the neighbor’s grandson, Jed Gilbertson. But that was proved impossible in the small town of Sage Creek. I enjoyed each time Jed and Paige spent time together. Their characters were amazing, and though tension was sometimes tight, Ms. Slattery does a really nice job of making these two characters fun and exciting for her readers.

I love that this story has the Christian life weaved throughout the lives of the characters. This is truly a story of love, forgiveness, and second chances. Some people may get the wrond idea about Love Inspired books, but you have to try them, and Hometown Healing is a great one to start with. I love Love Inspired books! They are full size stories packed in a smaller size book. You will be delighted when you read this sweet and clean inspirational romance.

No Chance Meeting (No Chance Love #1) By Jaye Elliot Christian Contemporary Romance Paperback & ebook, 393 Pages February 11th 2020 by Living Sword Publishing

Alex Jennings is done with life. After losing her brother in Afghanistan, everything has collapsed around her. Getting laid off from her day job and failing in her art career, she has nowhere left to turn. She once had faith to believe that all things would work together for good, but that faith died with her brother. Now she just wants the pain to end.

Riley Conrad served thirteen years in the military until three bullets sent him home. After a year and a half of physical therapy and scraping together a living, all he wants is to live a simple life and perhaps even open the coffee shop he dreams about. However, the weight of failing his parents’ expectations doesn’t make it easy, and working as a bartender isn’t getting him anywhere fast.

Could a “chance” meeting between Alex and Riley set them both on the path God always intended?

EXCERPT

They stepped outside and descended the stairs down to Alexs small, private porch. Dia was just coming out the front door with a pitcher of lemonade and a basket sure to contain homemade sweets she set on her antiqued patio table. Tonight was the weekly knitting get-together she hosted. Shed invited Alex more than once, but there was nothing like the thought of joining a knitting club to make her feel like a spinster.

Alex, she said cheerfully when she looked up. Her gaze drifted to Riley and then back to Alex, sparkling with curiosity.

Alex paused with Riley at her side. This is Riley Conrad. We work together and . . . hes my boyfriend. Hes taking me out to dinner tonight. She shared a quick smile with Riley.

Dia looked positively delighted. This would certainly dominate tonights conversation with her friends.

How wonderful! Im very pleased to meet you, Riley. Im sure youll take very good care of that young lady.

Alex had no idea if she said it in a completely innocent manner or if it was actually more of a challenge. She almost giggled to think of Dia giving Riley a subtle threat behind that pleased smile of hers.

Very seriously, he promised, Yes, ma’am.”

Her smile turned to one of satisfaction. Enjoy your evening.

You too,Alex replied.

She and Riley walked to the street where hed parked his truck. He opened the door for her, just as he did whenever he picked her up for work. She had been positively thrilled to ride with him the first time. There was just something about old trucks that couldnt be beat.

When Riley got in, he said, I have an idea your landlady could be dangerous if provoked.

Alex laughed outright. You caught that then? Im thinking the same thing. I could just see her gathering up her friends and coming after you with brooms and knitting needles if you break my heart.

He glanced over at her, his smile teasing, yet serious at the same time. “I’ll have to make sure not to break your heart then.

Two Steps Forward by Suzanne Woods Fisher

51uDO83gzFL

About the book

Back and broke in Stoney Ridge, Jimmy Fisher has coasted as long as he could through life on charm, good looks, and deep-set dimples. They always worked just fine for him–until they didn’t. His smile has no effect on the violet-eyed beauty he met at the Bent N’ Dent, the one with that stunning horse. She’s offered him a job, but nothing else.

The last thing Sylvie Schrock King needs around Rising Star Farm is a grown boy working for her, especially her neighbor Edith’s son. The woman holds a serious grudge against Sylvie and her son, and hiring Jimmy Fisher will only fan the flames of Edith’s rancor. But Sylvie is desperate for help on the farm, and Jimmy understands horses like no one else.

While Jimmy’s lazy smile and teasing ways steal Sylvie’s heart, Edith is working on a way to claim her land. Has Sylvie made another terrible mistake? Or is it too late to outfox the fox? More importantly . . . just who is the fox?

Writing with both wit and warmth, Fisher delivers a supremely satisfying conclusion to the popular Deacon’s Family series

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Continuing the Deacon Family Series, Suzanne Woods Fisher gives readers the third book in the series. Sylvie run a horse breeding business, and sometimes it is a constant battle with her neighbor, Edith. And to make matters worse, she is not sure how Edith will react about Sylvie hiring Jimmy, Edith’s son. But Jimmy is just who Sylvie needs because of his knowledge of horses. But he doesn’t come with a very good reputation. It will be interesting to see how these two get along. 85

Suzanne Woods Fischer is an outstanding writer and I always enjoy her stories very much. This one was especially interesting to me because the horse breeding business added new light and live to the story. It’s not something that is usually the subject of an Amish story. I thoroughly enjoyed Jimmy and Sylvie taking care of the farm and horses, and Sykvie’s little boy is adorable, as Jimmy thinks so as well. There is a lot of heartache and confusion over the farm property. It seems Edith tries to be in control of something that doesn’t belong to her, and she treated her deceased son horrible as well as treating his widow Sylvie. Edith is a miserable person, and tries to make everyone else that way.  Not my favorite character at all. But Ms. Fisher weaves all of this together and gives a sweet and likeable ending everyone will enjoy.

Hope for New Beginnings by Shirley Crowder, Howard A. Eyrich

About the Book

Book:  Hope for New Beginnings

Author: Shirley Crowder, Howard A. Eyrich

Genre: Non-fiction / Religion / Devotional

Release Date: November, 2018

Hope-for-New-Beginnings-CoverHope for New Beginnings: Devotions for the Adventure– Stepping into any new beginning not knowing what is ahead, is exciting and unsettling at the same time. Our Hope, as Christ-followers, rests in knowing that we do not move forward in our own strength, but in the strength of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. We pray these devotions will help prepare your heart to learn from the Lord as He affirms His steadfast love that gives the strength and hope needed to walk boldly into whatever new beginning the Lord has in store for you. These devotions will guide your thoughts toward the biblical truths presented in the background and focal Scripture passages. Each devotional has exercises (you will choose at least one to do each day) that lead you to interact with the biblical truths presented and gain a deeper understanding of the truths in each devotion. Biblical Counselors, when you are ready to dismiss a counselee, this makes a great assignment for the next thirty-one days, then have the counselee come back for a final check-up.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This thirty one day Devotional is different from most I have read. It goes much deeper than the day to day readings in most devotions. For me, each devotion challenged me to dig deeper into the word, as well as digging deeper into my walk with the Lord. Each devotion starts with a verse to go along with the topic, it has places for my thoughts, notes on what the devotion is saying. It’s really more like a workbook, with the interactions to scripture, prayer, thought provoking, questions, helped me to pull out the struggles I face, issues I am going through, and just overall helped me dig deeper into the topic of each day.

I am definitely not ready to put this book down. I want to go back and read it. We are always facing new beginnings in our life with whatever you are going through. This gives me the encouragement I need to face some of my struggles.

If you are looking to dig a little deeper with your daily devotions, this could be what you are looking for. I encourage you to check out Hope for New Beginnings.

More from Shirley

New beginnings are a regular part of life. Sometimes they are well planned, and we eagerly anticipate the future. At other times, we are reticent to move forward into the new beginning. As we think about new beginnings it is appropriate for us to look at the beginning of God’s Word—the Bible.

In Genesis 1:1 ESV, we read, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Here God is the subject, as He is the subject of the entire Bible. From this verse we learn something very important about God—He existed before the universe was created. God has always been, is now, and will always be, present.

Next, we learn that from nothing God created the universe and everything within it. He is the holy, sovereign, majestic, powerful, all-knowing God.

Every time I read these first few verses of the Bible, I am amazed that with just four little words, Let there be light (verse 3), the Creator God spoke into existence light that drove away the darkness. What astounding power! From these verses, we learn that God is the Author of light. Other places in Scripture tell us that God is light itself (1 John 1:5), and James calls Him the Father of lights (James 1:17).

Think about it: here we are today, many years since God spoke those four little words, Let there be light, and as John tells us, The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5). The Light—God—brings clarity, order, and understanding, while darkness is seen as evil, void, and chaotic.

I watched the coverage of a solar eclipse on several websites. It was so interesting to listen as a myriad of scientists and others explained the wonders of the universe, and while the science behind it all was quite interesting to me, the coverage fell flat. Why? Because it was totally devoid of any mention of Creator God. Only one man explained the solar eclipse through the lens of God’s Word. As he explained the science behind the solar eclipse, he also explained that THE God of the Universe who created everything that we see, holds the entire universe in His hands, and controls everything that happens, including a solar eclipse.

In the midst of a new beginning or anything else going on in your life, the truths in these passages are wonderful reminders that we can step confidently into any new beginning as we trust in the God who was here in the beginning, is here with us now, and who will be with us always. And what a comfort it is to remember that the light of God dispels the darkness and chaos of sin.

The Sheriff’s Second Chance by Tanya Agler

The Sheriff's Second Chance JustRead blog tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour & Giveaway for The Sheriff’s Second Chance by Tanya Agler, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Sherrif's Second Chance by Tanya AglerTitle: The Sheriff’s Second Chance

Author: Tanya Agler

Publisher: Harlequin Heartwarming

Release Date: January 1, 2020

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Broken things can’t be fixed…

Or can they?

Officer and single dad Mike Harrison doesn’t believe in second chances. Ever. That is, until he learns that his former best friend—gorgeous green-eyed car mechanic Georgie Bennett—is back in town. Unfortunately, she’s also a suspect in a recent break-in! But it’ll take an old classic car to show Mike and Georgie that almost anything can be restored with a little patience…and a whole lot of love.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is such a sweet read. Mike is a nice guy who made a big mistake in his earlier days. A mistake that sends his best friend out of town, for what he thinks is forever. Imagine his surprise when Georgie makes it back home to help her dear friend in his automobile garage. Although Georgie is not so sure she’s made the right decision because no one trusts her with their vehicles. Will Mike be able to rescue her, causing the town people to finally trust her?

Author Tanya Agler does an excellent job of creating the right characters for this story, developing their characters throughout the story. A story that is very well written. And an amazing debut novel! I quickly fell in love with Georgie and Mike, each with their own heartaches over the past, neither knowing what to do to fix it. And Mike’s daughter stole my heart immediately. She is such a sweet young girl, with a single dad who raised her well.

This story is all about dealing with a shaded past, forgiveness and second chances in life. Though it all doesn’t come easy. There was several difficult issues both Michael and Georgie had to deal with, including their past life relationship. But it comes together beautifully as you will find when you read this story for yourself. I encourage you to pick up a copy of The Sheriff’s Second Chance. If you enjoy clean romance, this is one is for you.

My Review 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐  it deserves so much more, and if I could give it more stars I would!

The-Fifth-Avenue-Story-Society-672x1024An invitation to join The Fifth Avenue Story Society gives five New York strangers a chance to rewrite their own stories.

Literature professor Jett is dealing with a broken heart, as well as a nagging suspicion his literary idol, Gordon Phipps Roth, might be a fraud.

Uber driver Chuck just wants a second chance with his kids.

Aging widower Ed is eager to write the true story of his incredible marriage.

Coral, queen of the cosmetics industry, has broken her engagement and is on the verge of losing her great grandmother’s multimillion-dollar empire.

When all five New Yorkers receive an anonymous, mysterious invitation to the Fifth Avenue Story Society, they suspect they’re victims of a practical joke. When Ed, Jett, Lexa, Chuck and Coral all received a mysterious invitation to the Fifth Avenue Story Society, none of them expected that their lives would be changed forever. Rachel Hauck has again written an amazing story for her readers to enjoy. With characters that all have their own stories, Ms. Hauck so vividly describes each character in a way that I felt I knew each one personally. I grew to love each of these characters because there is something for me to learn from each of them.

As this group keeps meeting at the Fifth Avenue Literary Society Library, I was anticipating each meeting because I wanted to know what was happening next, who would be able to share their struggles with the others. And Gilda the librarian, bless her heart, I love that she eventually started interacting with this group, giving her own advice. This book it beautiful inside and out. The cover is absolutely beautiful, and these characters will stay with me for a long time.

I observed the room while I ate. There seemed to be a lot more talking than actual eating. And kids were moving around all over the place, table to table, chatting with different people.

Then I watched the cowboy from Media Studies— Jack—walking purposefully toward me. Was he going to talk to me?

“Hi,” he said when he stood before me.

“Hi.”

“Why don’t you come sit with us?”

My face warmed. Did he think I was pitiful for sitting all by myself? And did I want to sit with him and his friends? What if they were all country like him?

He laughed. “Don’t worry, everybody’s nice.”

Now I was embarrassed by my overly long silence. “Okay, that sounds cool.” Then I added, “Thanks.”

“We’re over in the east corner, by the fire exit.”

I stood up—the chair screeched again—and picked up my tray. We snaked around tables to get to the corner table. He sat down, and the only open chair was next to him, so I set the tray down and squeezed in between him and a girl with long, blonde hair. A different one from the girl in English. There were lots of blonde girls here. I faked a brave face just as Jack said, “Hey, guys, this is Retta.”

Waltz in the Wilderness

Waltz-in-the-Wilderness-FB-Banner

About the Book

Book:  Waltz in the Wilderness

Author: Kathleen Denly

Genre:  Christian Historical Romance

Release Date: February 4, 2020

Waltz in the Wilderness CoverShe’s desperate to find her missing father. His conscience demands he risk all to help.

Eliza Brooks is haunted by her role in her mother’s death, so she’ll do anything to find her missing pa—even if it means sneaking aboard a southbound ship. When those meant to protect her abandon and betray her instead, a family friend’s unexpected assistance is a blessing she can’t refuse.

Daniel Clarke came to California to make his fortune, and a stable job as a San Francisco carpenter has earned him more than most have scraped from the local goldfields. But it’s been four years since he left Massachusetts and his fiancé is impatient for his return. Bound for home at last, Daniel Clarke finds his heart and plans challenged by a tenacious young woman with haunted eyes. Though every word he utters seems to offend her, he is determined to see her safely returned to her father. Even if that means risking his fragile engagement.

When disaster befalls them in the remote wilderness of the Southern California mountains, true feelings are revealed, and both must face heart-rending decisions. But how to decide when every choice before them leads to someone getting hurt?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I chose this book to review because I love the beautiful cover! And I am glad I had the opportunity to read Walz in the Wilderness! I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Eliza Brooks was committed to her pa, and she would go through anything, including giving up everything she has, as well as walk through whatever dangers it takes to find him. At first I felt really sorry for Eliza, but the more I read, the more I realize that she is well capable of taking care of herself, and she doesn’t want sympathy! I did have a difficult time understanding her pa though. I know he had to do a little tough love with her, but he could have considered her feelings a lot more than he did.

I also like Daniel very much, and was glad Eliza had him to protect her in the times she forgot she needed to be careful. All of the characters were well created, and I enjoyed  watching them develop throughout the story, except for the one, and every story has to have a villain in the story to keep us interested! The vivid descriptions of each scene took me to the California mountains, leaving me with a feeling that I had been there back in that era in time. Which was a very different California than it is today.

Kathleen Deny is a new author for me, and I look forward to other books from her in the future! If you enjoy historical fiction and mountain living, you will enjoy this book. Of course there’s lots more to this story, but not knowing it all is the fun of reading the book for yourself!

I would like to thank the author/publisher fir a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

More from Kathleen

As Valentine’s Day nears, stories of how couples met seem to be everywhere. Many of those stories share a common element: “The second I saw him/her, I just knew I would marry him/her.”

Every time I read or hear these stories, I chuckle. Not because I don’t believe them but because it reminds me of my own meet-cute.

“Not my type.”

These were the first words to enter my mind when I met the man who would later become my husband. In hindsight, they are hilarious because I know that God worked things out for our good. After more than eighteen years of marriage, I can honestly say that I am more in love with my husband than ever.

However, just a few months prior to meeting my husband, I’d suffered a terrible breakup with another man whom I thought had been considering proposing to me. I had no idea the breakup was coming and that left me devastated and confused. The truths we learn in hindsight don’t help much when we’re in the midst of such circumstances. When we think we know the future before us and something happens to upend those plans it can feel as though our world has turned upside down.

This is what happens to Eliza Brooks in the first chapter of my novel, Waltz in the Wilderness. Though not romantic in nature, a major shift occurs in her world that leaves her feeling betrayed and disoriented. She’s still struggling to right her world when Daniel Clarke enters her life in the worst way possible. Misunderstanding leads to a humiliating confrontation that sets these two at odds with one another before they have a chance to truly get to know each other. Fortunately for Eliza and Daniel, God works their foolishness for good just as He did in my own true love story.

This Valentine’s Day, whatever your romantic relationship status, remember that you are not alone. You are loved. And the God of all the universe loves you and has a plan for you—plans to prosper you and bring you hope.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

Grand Finale for Fifth Avenue Story Society by Rachel Hauck #StorySocTour #TNZFiction

It’s the Grand Finale for THE FIFTH AVENUE STORY SOCIETY by Rachel Hauck! #StorySocTour #TNZFiction

On Tour with Prism Book Tours
We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you’ll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:
Launch – Author Interview

What was your motivation behind THE FIFTH AVENUE STORY SOCIETY? Why did you want to write it?

The idea came after I spoke to a local writers group. One of the leaders mentioned their “story circles” and an idea was born. The Story Circle was the original title and had seven characters instead of five. But from the beginning it was about a group of strangers discovering who they were as they told their stories. The idea hit me so profoundly I went home from the meeting and wrote a synopsis in minutes and fired it off to my agent. He wrote back, “Love it!” The story felt right. I could “see” it so I knew I had to write it.

Hearts & Scribbles – Spotlight

“As always, Rachel Hauck’s character development is spot on. She created a world filled with believable characters and a story with a beautiful, spiritual thread. Wonderful storytelling. ”

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt

The door opened, and the discussion crashed to a stop. Jett rose to meet who he believed was the fifth member of this weird, cockamamie “society.”

“Lexa?” If possible, the world stopped spinning. His heartbeat slowed, and his thoughts careened together.

She moved across the threshold with ease, hitched her backpack on her shoulder, and raised her sparkling hazel gaze.

“Jett? You’ve got to be kidding me.” She had more heat in her eyes than the flames in the fireplace. “Did you do this? Send that stupid invitation?”

“This is an interesting, unique tale of how one event resulted in opening new discoveries in five individuals which changed each of their lives path forever. It is a story of freedom, unity, redirection, understanding, tolerance, acceptance, and many more topics.”

Wishful Endings – Excerpt

“We still don’t know why we’re here.” Chuck glanced at each of them, his attention lingering longer on Coral than the others. “Don’t you want to know who sent the invitation?”

“What if the invitations were some promotional thing for the library? Sent to five random people. I get stuff ‘to the resident of’ all the time,” Lexa said, the presence of Jett starting to seep into her skin.

Did she want to punch him? Yell at him? Run away and never clap eyes on him again? Hug him? Yes, yes, all of the above.

“The story started strong and tapered off towards the middle. However, I am glad that I stuck through the novel because I love[d] seeing the true story of each character unfold. I enjoyed seeing that each character was able to find themselves and find each other.”

The Power of Words – Review

The Fifth Avenue Story Society by Rachel Hauck is a moving story that goes on my “best of the best” list. The bookstore setting is atmospheric and charming, the characters rich and endearing, and every word of the prose is to be treasured. It’s a story of friendship, renewal and second chances, with a few heartwarming moments that moved me to tears. . . . Highly recommended.”

“I give this book a resounding 5 out of 5 stars for the amazing characters and their individual stories, for the story of friendships coming from nothing, and for showing how the faith of one can affect many. I highly recommend picking this book up to read.”

“Rachel Hauck is my new favourite in Contemporary INSPY . . . From the choices of her words to how she tucks in references which cross-relate to the revelations she’s making about her characters; Hauck has this innate ability to connect you to her story and gives you a reason to ache for another chapter, another moment in this world she’s created with a story you don’t wish to exit. . . . by the time I first reached the Fifth Avenue Story Society’s meeting space, I knew how much I was loving this experience . . . I was beyond smitten and dearly delighted that this became the first Hauck novel I read and it definitely will not be my last! Ooh, my dear stars… the joy of it!”

Savings in Seconds – Review

“This book is bound to be a movie at some point. The characters (and there are several) each have their own spunky personalities that need to be shared with the world. I love the contrast between them, from their backgrounds to their livelihoods.”

Peaceful Pastime – Review

“If you haven’t read any books she’s written so far than I have no hesitation in recommending you start with this one. I absolutely loved the premise and the characters . . . I thought The Fifth [Avenue] Story Society has some heartbreaking moments but also there is hope, hope for new beginnings, hope for brighter futures and best of meeting new people who will change your life for the better.”

“I still say people can live selflessly, you know. There are couples who get along, don’t argue. Marriages where love conquers all.”

“Really?” Jett’s expression conveyed his doubt. “I’ve never seen one.”

“Well, you’re looking at the remaining half of a solid, giving marriage.” Ed glanced around the circle. “Granted, you don’t see much of what Esmerelda and I had in these modern times. All I see here is you kids with heartbreak. I don’t know what happened to you, Chuck, but I can see pain in your eyes.” He patted his new friend’s broad shoulder. “Lord only knows what happened with Coral and you two.” He waved at Lexa, then Jett. “Esmie and I chose the way of love. It was the sixties, so naturally love was on our minds. We decided things together, and when she was right, I said sorry. When I was right, she made my favorite pot roast.” He fell against his chair. “She made the best pot roast.”

Paper Ink & Lizard – Review

“Stepping inside The Fifth Avenue Story Society by Rachel Hauk is like stepping inside the library itself–warm, cozy, and with a bit of mystery. . . . The Fifth Avenue Story Society offers a little bit of something for every type of readers, and is a wonderful fit for those who enjoy cozy reads involving bookstores, family, and business, with maybe even a little romance.”

Splashes of Joy – Excerpt

“One day when you’re like forty or fifty, you’ll look back on your life and wonder what happened to the Jett Wilder who hoped, who dreamed. You’ll be completely unaware that your shallow, lonely existence was carved out by a faded, twisted memory of a morning on a mountaintop. That you’re haunted by the ghost of your dead brother.”

“That won’t happen. What you just said.”

“In some ways it already has, Jett. Between you and me.”

“Hauck’s writing quickly draws the reader in, and it’s easy to feel a part of the unlikely group. Character development is strong. I loved that the story was told in multiple POV’s, as it gives the reader the full picture, and you’re really able to connect with each person. . . . I had a hard time putting this one down, as I couldn’t wait to see how things turned out in the end.”

“Before you do anything else, go put this book on your TBR pile! However you keep track of the books you want to read…whether you add them to Goodreads or you write them down…do it now. You need to read The Fifth Avenue Story Society.

This is a story that you will never forget. . . . I felt this story so deeply. The characters’ stories aren’t my stories, but that’s the point. Deep down, we’re the same.”

“I love Rachel’s books. I love her stories and how they can be very realistic and believable!! Her writing is amazing!! She [definitely] wrapped up the ending to this story very well . . . Wonderful plot and Characters that you can believe in and some you can even make friends with.”

Reading Excursions – Review

“I found myself not being able to put it down. . . . This book was heart-breaking, frustrating, and touching to read. It even had a haunting sadness to it. Still, there were elements of hope and even some humor. . . . My heart nearly broke at one point when it looked like everything was falling apart. Yet, at the end, everything came together and in a beautiful way.”

The Fifth Avenue Story Society
By Rachel Hauck
Christian Contemporary Romance
Hardcover, Paperback, Audiobook & ebook, 400 Pages
February 4th 2020 by Thomas Nelson

An invitation to join The Fifth Avenue Story Society gives five New York strangers a chance to rewrite their own stories.

Executive assistant Lexa is eager for a much-deserved promotion, but her boss is determined to keep her underemployed.

No one knows who sent the invitations or why. No one has heard of the literary society. And no one is prepared to reveal their deepest secrets to a roomful of strangers.

Yet curiosity and loneliness bring them back week after week to the old library. And it’s there they discover the stories of their hearts, and the kind of friendship and love that heals their souls.

“This is a fast paced and well written story with a bit of romance and mystery. The characters are genuine and easy to like. I enjoyed reading Always The One, and I highly recommend it for romance readers. I look forward to more Harlequin Heartwarming tales!”

Hearts & Scribbles – Excerpt

She closed her eyes and groaned. “I don’t want any more help from government agencies.”

“Then how about from an old boyfriend?”

It would be so easy to fall into his arms. Let him carry the burdens she’d been laboring with for so long. Go back to the days when the biggest decision she had to make was what color lip gloss to use or which jeans to wear. As much as she might want the reprieve, it wasn’t possible. This was her reality now. Not glamorous or flashy, but she had a good job. A few friends she trusted. Her mother would get well. She had to.

The Power of Words – Review

Always the One by Tara Randel is a heartwarming story of second chances and new beginnings. . . . a perfect blend of appealing characters, romance, and light suspense. . . . I enjoyed Always the One very much and look forward to many more stories from the pen of Tara Randel.”

“As Tara Randall usually does, the reader is kept eagerly turning from one page to the next in this romantic, suspense/mystery novel. . . . This is an intense, steadily flowing, poignant romance/mystery. The characters are endearing and defined well. . . . There are several twists which keeps it quite unpredictable. It is well-written and touching.”

janicesbookreviews – Review

“. . . a romance with a little mystery. I enjoyed how Derrick and Hannah find each other again. They were childhood sweethearts that got separated. . . . I enjoyed this book, which can be read as a stand-alone.”

Heidi Reads… – Excerpt

“You’re unbelievable,” she muttered through clenched teeth.

“So I’ve been told.”

She blew out a breath. “Derrick, you can’t stay here.” She looked down at her finger. “It’s complicated.”

“You keep telling me that, but, put simply, I want to help.”

She met his gaze, heat flashing in her eyes. “No one asked you.”

He shrugged. “Never stopped me from inserting myself anyway.”

“Fine. Suit yourself.”

Always the One was another great book by Tara Randel. . . . This book kept me happily wanting to read more. . . . Always the One by Tara Randel was a clean contemporary adult romance full of the ups and downs of love. If you enjoy books full of past love pushing its way back to the present then you will adore this read.”

“A sweet romance full of mystery, memories and love everlasting! . . . The story line caught my attention quickly and I enjoyed watching them reconnect. . . . I recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet reunion story with a hint of danger and intrigue thrown in.”

Reading Excursions – Review

“I LOVED it! . . . The characters and story drew me in right away. . . . Tara Randel did a terrific job with this one. While part of the series, this easily stands on its own. . . . Not only was this “heart-warming”, it was heart-breaking, endearing, and beautiful.”

E-Romance News – Excerpt

She reached the end of the circuit, studying the grouping. As she moved closer to get a better look at one piece in particular, she noticed a couple on bicycles racing off from the group of friends. A memory flashed in her mind, reminding her of the times she and Derrick would leave their friends to ride their bikes to the beach. Truth be told, they’d had more fun when it was just the two of them, heading off on one adventure or another.

A nostalgic smile curved her lips. They’d had the best times. But that was so long ago, before events had thrown them a curveball.

“The characters in the novel were both likable and believable people. . . . Overall, I thought the novel was a nice cozy romantic read.”

“I felt there was a strong balance of emotional drama combined with realistic suspense . . . What I appreciated was the quickening pace – how Randel started things off a bit slower but then gained a lot of momentum as she was disclosing how to connect Derrick with Hannah and vice versa.”

“Randal has pulled me into the story from the beginning to the end and I loved the suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out who done it. . . . This is a book I highly recommend if you want an excellent read. It is chalk full of mystery, romance not too heavily overdone and second chances. I promise that it will keep you glued to wherever you are at until the book is finished. I sighed happily after it was finished.”

Remembrancy – Review

Always the One may be my favorite second chance with your first love book I’ve read yet. . . . There’s something about falling so hard and deep in love at a young age, a love that stands the test of time and separation, that gives me all the feels.”

“Randel’s smooth and engaging writing style, combined with layered characters & a dose of suspense make Always the One my favorite installment of this series! Derrick and Hannah are easy to love – and so are Hannah’s mom and Hannah’s student Tommy. . . . All of this makes for a highly entertaining, charming, and sweet read you’ll enjoy from start to finish!”

“The characters are nicely developed and not always predictable. (yay!) I connected with Derrick and loved his patience most of all. Anna (Hannah) surprised me and I wasn’t as patient with her as Derrick was. I sympathized with her and Derrick both, though, and longed for them to reach their happy ever afters. . . . This is a wholesome romance with relatable characters that deal with love lost, love found, and finding a sense of belonging.”

Pause for Tales – Review

“I enjoyed this story and watching Derrick pursue Hannah after all this time, to love her and want the best for her even if it meant it might not be him. That was a great sign of true love.”

She tilted her head. “You weren’t serious when you said you never stopped looking for me, were you?”

He moved closer, his gaze locked on hers. “Dead serious. But my dedication only led to one disappointment after another.”

“I just…there was no one else in your life?”

He wasn’t about to admit there’d been a time when he’d almost moved on. “You’re hard to forget.” He turned to look across the room at Prescott holding court. “But I guess you had it easy getting over me.”

Splashes of Joy – Review

“The characters were realistic and there was just the right amount of mystery weaved within the romance to give this story a few Wow moments of enjoyment. This is really a sweet, clean romance. I encourage you to check out Always the One, along with the other books in the Meet Me at the Alter series by Tara Randel.”

Hallie Reads – Review

“Derrick and Hannah have plenty of history to confront amidst a dose of suspense and unquestionable chemistry. It is a pleasure to see how their story occurs in Always the One, and I so enjoyed it. If you enjoy contemporary romance, like I do, I definitely recommend this book (and this series!).”

ABOUT THIS BOOK

Quirky Fiona McGrath loves her job as a Child Life Specialist at a Dunedin, Florida hospital. As a former foster child, she understands trauma and wants to ensure no child ever faces the same kind of fears she once did. But are fears truly in the past?
Gabe Cavenaugh’s life is right on schedule. As the youngest assistant Chief Financial Officer in the hospital’s history, he has much to prove, but he’s confident he can do anything he’s asked. After all, he’s secure in his faith and has the constant support of his family.
When Gabe is directed to make cuts in order to balance the hospital’s budget, his search leads him to the Child Life Program and to Fiona. How can this crazy, hat-wearing woman, who rides around on a sparkly scooter possibly be a vital member of the medical team?
As Fiona works to persuade Gabe about her job’s necessity, he begins to see there’s more to her and her work with young patients than wacky clothes.
But will she be enough to save her program? And could she possibly be enough for a man like Gabe?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I don’t know that I have read any books with the main character a Child Life Specialist. Nor did I really know what this was until I read this book. Fiona McGrath was the perfect person for this job because as a former foster child, she knows all of the fears children going through the system has, and she has definitely know doubts, especially about her self worth. I think Lorna Seilstad does an amazing job of researching well this topic, as well as creating characters that are so well established throughout the story.

This is a very well written and enjoyable book. The sweet romance mixed with a lot of laughs and humor weaved throughout this story of dealing with difficult issues balances itself out well. I have read several Lorna Seilstad books and I always enjoy the laughs! I appreciate too that Fiona was a Christian, and her faith during her difficult times was brought up and talked about in nice understanding ways. And I love that the Christian life and God’s love is so apparent in this story through the characters.

Who doesn’t enjoy a sweet cozy romance to read that is clean enough that your teenager can read it? I highly recommend this book to all of you romance lovers out there!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Always the One is from Harlequin’s Heartwarming line of books. I enjoy these books a lot because they are a fun, clean romance read. I’ve been looking forward to another book about the Matthew brothers, and I very much enjoyed Derrick’s story. My heart went out to him because he was still in love with Hannah, though she had left without saying goodbye and he hadn’t been able to find her. His brothers didn’t understand his feelings for her and kept after him to move on. But did she even want to be found? And In the meantime, Derrick and his brothers were worried about their mother because if the man she was about to marry. The fact that the guy has a shady past doesn’t sit well with the brothers.

I really enjoyed this story as I followed Derrick as he searched the clues clearly left for him to find Hannah. I have grown to love the Matthew brothers and their unique personalities. And author Tara Randel does another amazing job with creating additional characters for this story, and giving her readers more to enjoy from this family. The characters were realistic and there was just the right amount of mystery weaved within the romance to give this story a few Wow moments of enjoyment. This is really a sweet, clean romance. Book Description:

Book Title: Resilient

Sub-title:  Child Discipleship and the Fearless Future of the Church
It’s time for a new Conversation.

680655_2_toc

People are saying the future of the church looks bleak. Voices are crying out that the church is dying. Every week church buildings shut their doors for the last time. It leads to the question, “How can we impact the future of the church?”

Thankfully, in the midst of all the talk, there’s a new conversation that’s emerging. Here it is: Child discipleship works!

The most powerful way to shape the future of the church is to effectively disciple kids who will thrive in a culture that aggressively runs counter to their faith in Christ. But in this season, we must ask new questions. As the world around us is rapidly changing, are the methodologies and assumptions from past decades still working? Is today’s KidMin built to produce disciples who will lead the
church with courage and compassion in a culture that is becoming increasingly hostile to the gospel? In order to thrive in this unknown future, our kids will need to be Resilient!

What is Resilient?
Resilient is an honest calling to ask robust questions about the future, it is a timely conversation in the midst of changing cultural landscapes, and it’s a love letter to the church to walk this road of child discipleship together.

Something special begins to happen when KidMin leaders and disciple-makers look beyond the tactics of everyday ministry and begin to focus their energy on the few, key factors that truly contribute to effective, long-term discipleship impact. Resilient child discipleship focuses on three key areas, essential for shaping long-term faith:
• Belonging: Highly relational ministry led by a loving and caring adult
• Believing: Deeply Scriptural ministry rooted in the truth of God’s Word and the power of
the gospel
• Becoming: Experiential ministry, designed to move kids from simulation to real-world
application of faith-based living.

Resilient equips you with an innovative, biblical and proven child discipleship philosophy to build your home and/or ministry around.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is a very different book than most I review. It was published by Awana Clubs International, and this book goes very deep into how to teach your child to be resilient throughout their lives. The book begins by talking about the future of the church, and it raises the question of whether or not kids in today’s world will be equipped to lead our churches in the future. There is so much information in this book that it is difficult for me to explain it without writing a lengthly review. So I am including pictures of the back cover, the contents page and a few more, just to give you an idea of what you are getting.

I agree with this book that we need to better discipline our children about the church, how the act, letting children and teens alike be involved in the happenings and everyday/every week running of the church and all that is involved. This would be a great Bible study for Awana workers, or any clubs, Sunday School classes, etc. where children are meeting. I encourage everyone to check out this book, because most people come on contact with kids at some point.

I would like to thank the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

680655_4_exc

I found this on the Resilient website that explains what this movement is doing better than me.

Our Love Letter to the Church.

As we find ourselves at a crossroads of cultural change, are we adequately preparing today’s kids to be resilient, lifelong disciples of Jesus?

Resilient is an invitation to join the most important conversation in the church and radically reconsider our approach to children’s ministry.

The Fifth Avenue Story Society By Rachel Hauck #StorySocTour

Banner - The Fifth Avenue Story Society

#StorySocTour

Author Interview

What do you hope readers take with them after they’ve read it?
That God knows your story. We all have ups and downs in our lives but God, the great author of our faith and lives, is working things together for our good. The five protagonists have a happy ending. Not always the one they wanted or expected but one designed by their Creator. Also, that we need each other. Our stories are not complete without friends and family, even strangers, in our lives.
If you could sum the book up in one sentence, what would you say?
“You are never without hope.”
Share something about you that is unique – maybe about how/where you write… or favorite snack foods?

I have a two story “tower” or turret built by an artist friend of ours who moved away about a year after he built it. He and his family all but gifted the house to my husband and I, and I moved into this amazing office space. From my second story windows, all I see is trees. I use this room only to write. It’s my work space. I try not to eat in here or watch movies. It’s reserved for creative work space. I work mostly in the afternoons. Mornings are for prayer, exercise, errands. I usually finish the day in the late afternoon while fast drafting and into the evening while rewriting and editing. My favorite snack food, which I don’t have often, is chips!

The Fifth Avenue Story Society
By Rachel Hauck
Christian Contemporary Romance
Hardcover, Paperback, Audiobook & ebook, 400 Pages
February 4th 2020 by Thomas Nelson

An invitation to join The Fifth Avenue Story Society gives five New York strangers a chance to rewrite their own stories.

Executive assistant Lexa is eager for a much-deserved promotion, but her boss is determined to keep her underemployed.

EXERPT FROM THIS BOOK

“One day when you’re like forty or fifty, you’ll look back on your life and wonder what happened to the Jett Wilder who hoped, who dreamed. You’ll be completely unaware that your shallow, lonely existence was carved out by a faded, twisted memory of a morning on a mountaintop. That you’re haunted by the ghost of your dead brother.”

“That won’t happen. What you just said.”

“In some ways it already has, Jett. Between you and me.”

“Don’t put the demise of our marriage squarely on me or Storm’s death. You played a part.”

She stepped back. “You’re right. I buried myself in work for fear of rejection. But ever since I told my story at the society meeting, I feel relief. I see what I’ve been doing. Now I wish I’d gone to homecoming with Dad and walked in with my head high, ready to twist the night away. Twelve years later, Dad and I could reminisce about how much fun we had. I don’t even know where Carnie is now. And there’s a good chance we’d have broken up by Christmas, or on the ski trip. We were never meant to be. Yet I let his rejection and the opinions of others, all my experiences of moving and trying to fit in, taint me.” She raised her chin. “Well, no more. I’m sick of it. I’m commanding my life.”

“What if Zane comes crawling back?”

“Depends, but I think my time at ZB is over. I really do. As soon as I get another job, I’ll resign.” Her confidence came from a real, deep place.

“He always gets to you, Lexa. I’ll believe it when I see it.”

“Watch me.” Lexa marched for the wide barn doors, praying, hoping he’d follow her. Because out there was the real world, the one where she’d have to walk the walk of the talk she just talked. “As for you, Jett Wilder, don’t you dare stay on that mountain with Storm, or stuck in this barn reading your books, worshipping dead authors who lied. You were born for more.”

Hannah’s Courage by Molly Jebber

Hannahs-courage-FB-Banner

About the Book

Book:  Hannah’s Courage

Author: Molly Jebber

Genre:  Amish Historical Romance

Release Date: January 28, 2020

5-30-3019-Hannahs-Courage-FROM-Kensington-614x1024A loaf of fragrant cinnamon bread for breakfast . . . a sweet and creamy custard pie for dessert. In 1912 Ohio, the Amish Charm Bakery has something to delight locals and visiting Englischer alike. And within this warm, welcoming community, there’s always room for love to grow . . .

Hannah Lapp’s life, like a long-cherished recipe, is satisfying just the way it is. She enjoys whipping up desserts at the bakery, tutoring local children, and socializing with dear friends. One of those friends, Timothy Barkman, has made his interest in Hannah clear, but she’s been in no hurry to change her circumstances.

No sooner does she feel ready to grow closer to hard-working, handsome Timothy than Hannah finds she may have waited too long. Charlene Shetler intends to become Timothy’s fraa. It’s little wonder he’s attracted to such a pretty, forthright young woman, but is the newcomer all that she seems? Only when Hannah is willing to confront some difficult truths can she move bravely toward a life of abiding faith and love . . .

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Hannah and Timothy had loved each other for a long time. But Hannah was content working in the bakery with her friends, and she hated change. So she keeps putting Timothy off when he tries to pursue her. It’s when a new family moves to Charm, with a young lady around Hannah’s age, nonetheless, that Hannah realizes she may be too late to tell Timothy her true feelings for him. Where will this leave Hannah?

I always look forward to reading a Molly Jebber book, because I know it is a story I will love and enjoy. Hannah’s Courage was a refreshing new read for me. I love the Amish Charm Bakery and the ladies who work there day to day baking the most delicious sounding foods. But most of all, I enjoy the relationship and fellowship of these sweet ladies. I learn a lot from the advice they give to each other. This is a workplace I would love to work. They all get along so well, and one doesn’t try to get ahead of another. And I enjoy the talk about their men, or the lack thereof. Though I was wishing Hannah wouldn’t have been so strong willed, and let one of her friends talk to Timothy, since she wouldn’t tell him how she feels!

And then there is Timothy’s brother, Aaron. Hannah and Aaron have such a sweet relationship. And Aaron is doing so well in school as Hannah tutors him. But Hannah is about to make a decision that will shake everyone up. And there is so much more to this story I would love to comment on, like Charlene Shetler, but you really need to read this beautiful book to enjoy the story more. And I don’t like giving away too many clues! I encourage you to pick up a copy of Hannah’s Courage today!!

More from Molly

I related to Hannah in this book where I had to find the courage to make some hard decisions. Maybe you’ve had some hard choices to make and finding the courage to follow through has been difficult for you.

Have you had a bad day where nothing goes right? We’ve all had those. Hannah’s has many days like this, and she is torn about what to do from one problem to the next in her life. She makes some snap decisions, and faces life-altering challenges. You’ll laugh and want to stomp your feet at the twists and turns in this story.  She’s good at giving her friends advice, but has trouble following it. I can relate to this in my life at times. Maybe you can too.

The Sheriff and Dr. Harrison are still regular customers at the bakery where she whips up mouth-watering desserts. She and her friends cry, laugh, and offer each other advice. I love time with girlfriends, and Hannah’s no different. You’ll relate to her, root for her, want to reach in the book and shake her at times (I’m sure my friends have wanted to do this with me a time or two!), and wonder how what the future holds for her.

I hope you’ll follow my blog tour and enter for a chance to win the Grand Prize at the end of the tour. The more you enter, the more chances you have of winning!

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. Your Facebook comments help me to get to know you better, and I appreciate it so much!

Here’s a recipe Hannah’s whipped up for you. And there are more in the back of Hannah’s story.

Cake

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ¾ teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoonnutmeg
  • ½ teaspoonsalt
  • 1 ¼ cups vegetable oil
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cupbrown sugar
  • 3eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
  • 3large apples, peeled and cut into large pieced

Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • ¼ teaspoonvanilla

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease 9 x 13 pan with butter and coat with 2 tablespoons of flour
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Sift two additional times and set aside.
  3. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine oil and both sugars, and mix until well blended.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Add vanilla and mix again.
  5. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the batter and mix thoroughly. By hand, fold in apples and walnuts and mix until evenly combined.
  6. Spoon the batter into the prepared bundt pan. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  7. Remove cake from the oven and allow to cool in the bundt pan for 20 minutes.
  8. While the cake is cooling, prepare the glaze. In a saucepan, over medium heat, combine all of the glaze ingredients. Bring to a boil and allow the mixture to boil for 1 minute.
  9. Remove the cake from the pan, onto a serving plate. Spoon the glaze over the warm cake.
  10. Cool for a little longer before serving.
