Book Description:

As a wife, mom and former corporate go-getter, Cheryl knows firsthand the frustration of trying to do it all and feeling that none of it is good enough. As the world slowed down for a global pandemic, Cheryl inspected her own life and who she wanted to become—who she needed to become—to serve at her highest level. Much of this discovery occurred in the kitchen during playful evenings side-by-side with her sons, husband, and mother. Their time together led Cheryl to realize that how

you measure your priorities, mix them in with your life experiences, and marinate on and adjust to the results determines the direction of your life.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is a really interesting book to read. Author Cheryl Schuberth takes a look at her life and decides to slow down a bit and give her life a much more meaning. Throughout the book, using different countries she lets readers know of her frustrations and some tips on how to overcome these issues. There are lots of life changing tips in the book, some I’ve heard of, some not. I think this book would be wonderful addition to any library and I plan to add this one to mine. There are many recipes throughout this book as well, some of them sound so very good, I do want to try a number of the recipes. They sound so good and tasty. I encourage you to give this book a try. I think you will love it. I’m giving Measure Mix and Marinate four stars from me.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

And now an Interview with author Cheryl Schuberth

  1. Your book is an intersection of cooking and professional life. How did you come up with the concept?

When the world shut down last year, I had an idea to make dinner as a family from a different culture each week. As I posted our results on social media, a friend of my husband’s suggested I write a book. I’d know for a few years that I’d wanted to write a book, but didn’t know what I wanted to write about. At that same time, I’d just left my corporate career and was learning a lot about myself and who I needed to become to step into my next phase of life. I decided to leverage my self-reflection both in the kitchen and from my career to encourage other women to be bold and step into their best life.

  1. Where do you write?

I usually write in my office because it has the best ergonomic set-up and it tells the family I’m working. Occasionally, I’ll take my laptop into the kitchen for a change of scenery when the plan for the day doesn’t require as much concentration.

  1. In your book you reference your love of traveling. Where is your favorite place to travel?

One of my favorite places I’ve visited is Thailand. The people are incredibly kind and helpful, the food is not only good, but clean and not ladden with junk and you can find a variety of terrain as you travel throughout the country. It can be very hot, so you need to pick the right time of the year to go.

  1. Other than traveling, what do you do for fun?

I love all things outdoors and I love live music! I currently enjoy year round hiking, golf & skiing, and I also enjoy watching my boys play soccer. I grew up watching all types of professional sports and right now my favorite sports team is whatever team my boys are playing on.

  1. Is there a food that has a special memory for you?

Donuts. I can’t have a donut without thinking of my dad who passed away a little over nine years ago. When I was growing up, we’d stop at the donut shop every Sunday on our way home from church. We each got to pick out two donuts that we’d take home and eat as we passed around the Sunday comics.
