ABOUT THE BOOK

Destitute, grief-stricken, and unwanted by the people of God, Ruth arrives in Israel with nothing to recommend her but Naomi’s, love. Her loftiest hope is to provide enough food to save Naomi and herself from starvation.

But God has other plans for her life. While everyone considers Ruth an outcast, she is astounded to find one of the most honored men of Judah showing her favor. Long since a widower and determined to stay that way, Boaz is irresistibly drawn to the foreign woman with the haunted eyes. He tells himself he is only being kind to his Cousin Naomi’s chosen daughter when he goes out of his way to protect her from harm, but his heart knows better.

Based on the biblical account of Ruth, In the Field of Grace is the story of a love that ultimately changes the course of Israel’s destiny and the future of the whole world.

Injured but still alive, she awakens to discover her husband is missing and they’re both considered prime suspects in the attack. Further, the FBI is convinced her husband isn’t who he appears to be.

Agent Grayson Hall’s number-one priority is to catch those responsible for the day’s act of terror. All evidence is pointing to Taryn and her new husband. But his instinct tells him her pleas of innocence are genuine. Is her naiveté just for show, or could she truly be another victim of a master scheme, possibly linked to the software she recently developed for her company?

With both their lives and reputations on the line, and the media outcry for justice increasing with each passing minute, Taryn and Grayson have no choice but to trust one another . . . and pray they can uncover the truth before they become two more casualties.

Death Takes A Ride by Lorena McCourtney…..from Revell

Death Takes A Ride

by Lorena McCourtney

Death takes a ride

It’s official. This case is above her pay grade–and Cate’s in over her head.

Cate Kinkaid arrives at H&B Vintage Auto Restorations to give a friend a ride. But, as usual, trouble finds Cate even there–this time in the form of one dead man, one wounded man, and what appears to be a pretty obvious case of self-defense.

Despite having been merely an unfortunate bystander, Cate finds herself sucked into the case. And the deeper she gets, the more she begins to suspect that the shooting in the H&B office may not have been as cut-and-dried as it appeared.

Bestselling and award-winning author Lorena McCourtney takes you on wild ride in this clever cozy mystery that will keep you guessing.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Cate Kinkaid seems to always find herself in some kind of trouble, not matter what she does, or does not do! In this case, Cate steps right up on a dead man, a murder. But what is she to do? Can she solve the mystery murder? But then the shop owner decides to hire Cate to find a motorcycle he wants to by. But as Cate starts looking, did she find more than she bargained for?

Cate is a fun and interesting character and as we read each book, we find out a little more about her. I like trying to solve the mystery with Cate, and yes in this on it was pretty obvious to me, but it was still interesting and entertaining, that is for sure! And then there is Cates cat Octavia that I just adore. This wonderful author again weaves a story together that will enlighten and entertain you for a few hours, and you will want to read more from author Lorena McCourtney! And I don’t like giving away a lot of information, especially in murder mysteries, because it takes all of the fun out of reading. So run out and grab a copy of Death Takes a Ride and sit down for a comfortable and enjoyable read. And don’t forget to pick up the other books in this series. It is more fun to read them in order, but it is also good for a stand alone book!

Penny WisePenny Wise | A Windy City Neighbors bookMichelle Jasper doesn’t have much time to hang out with her neighbors—not with thirteen-year-old twins, another teen with hoop dreams, a full-time job as a caseworker, volunteering at a crisis pregnancy center, and heading up the women’s ministry at Northside Baptist. Her husband’s constantly changing shifts as an air traffic controller at the world’s busiest airport—Chicago’s O’Hare International—and responsibilities as a trusted deacon at Northside only add to the juggling act at the Jasper household. Her new neighbors, Harry and Estelle Bentley, mean well with their friendly efforts to bring people together, but how can she deal with neighborhood concerns—like Greg Singer, who lost his job and is now trying to recruit sales reps from the neighborhood for his new venture—when she’s confronted with tragic family situations daily in her job? Like little Candy and her baby brother Pookey, victims of neglect . . .

With the “tyranny of the urgent” crowding out the important, Michelle is blindsided by danger involving her own kids—and a personal crisis that calls into question the very values she holds dear. How could this happen? Does God even care?

 MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

In Penny Wise, we are back in the lovely neighborhood of Beecham Street and their interesting neighbors. We have visited some of the neighbors in the first two book, and this time we visit the Jasper family as they go about their every day live. This family is no different than families today, with three busy and active teenagers, and a husband and wife with a schedule that doesn’t leave a lot of extra time for family. I think I enjoyed this book a lot because it reflects modern day families and how they struggle daily to balance their life. The Jasper family surely had their share of difficulties and problems, and some of the craziest schedules anyone could have. And I love the way the Jackson team writes this story in a way that definitely keeps your attention. I couldn’t seem to put the book down for long because I just had to find out what was happening to these neat family members.

I love Neta and Dave Jackson’s book because they are good clean, enjoyable and interesting books written in the setting of a really nice neighborhood. Penny Wise is a a book that anyone can enjoy and one I highly recommend. I hope you will give this book a try, and I hope you like it as much as I do. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

If you are a gardener, You will enjoy this new Bible from Zondervan. It is designed to help you follow your Bible reading and do your gardening together. One thing I found interesting is that there are 260 daily readings and 52 weekly readings and the passages in the Bible and the devotions go along with gardening. There is a special section about The Garden of Eden, as well as sections on Jesus’ Last Supper teaching on the vine, and The Book or Revelations and the urban Gardens. This was interesting to me because I haven’t thought about Gardens in the Bible, and even though I’ve read these verses, I really didn’t apply them to gardens. And the 52 week topical index focuses on garden interest.

I highly recommend this Bible to those who enjoy gardening. The front cover is beautiful and you will enjoy the green color used as captions throughout this Bible.

I hope you will give this Bible a try, and I hope you like it as much as I do. I received this Bible from BookLook Bloggers to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. Revells Presents……Love Comes Home by Ann H. Gabhart

Love Comes Home
By Ann H. Gabhart

When the flush of victory fades, there remains a winding road to an uncertain future.

World War II is finally over and the people of Rosey Corner are joyfully welcoming the boys home. The Merritt sisters in particular are looking toward the future. Kate is eager to start a family and live out her dream of happily ever after with Jay. Evangeline craves a beautiful house and encourages Mike to pastor a big-town church. Victoria wants what can never be. And Lorena is growing up and wondering more and more about her birth family.

Each sister must learn to hold her plans with a loose hand, trusting that God will guide and strengthen them as they share the joys and sorrows of life in their little corner of the world.

Award-winning and bestselling author Ann Gabhart invites you back to Rosey Corner for a heartfelt story that closes the distance between the things that were and things that can yet be.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

The men are coming home to Rosey Corner after years at war during WWII. Two of the Merritt sisters were waiting on husbands to return, while one sister knew her husband would never be back again. Over three years had passed since the men left, and in that time everyone and everything had changed. And the guys struggled being in quiet Rosey Corner after living for years watching their every move, and watching his back. And on the other side, the ladies struggle with understanding what their husbands have been through. And especially Evangeline, because she was expecting thing to change to give her a better life, and she wasn’t really concerned about everyone else’s feelings. I though she was a bit overboard with her wants. I just wanted to shake her good! Ann Gabhart does a wonderful job of weaving everything going on in this story together and ending Love Comes Home in a wonderful and heartwarming way.

If you enjoy romantic stories, you will enjoy this one. And for you WWII buffs, you will enjoy this as well. I hope you will this book a try, and I hope you like it as much as I do. I received this book from Revell Publishers to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Love does extraordinary things to people . . .

The Revealing | Inn at Eagle Hill series

When a young woman arrives at the Inn at Eagle Hill with a shocking secret about Tobe Schrock, Naomi fears the worst. She can’t ignore the feeling that something sinister is at work– something more than a threat to the tenuous love begun between her and Tobe.

As signs mount, they begin to point to Jake Hertzler, the elusive mastermind behind Schrock Investments’ downfall. Soon, events spiral hopelessly out of control and Naomi must decide whether to listen to her head or her heart.

Learn more and purchase a copy at Suzanne’s website.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is a wonderful series, and a wonderful book!  When a young women arrives at the Inn with some very shocking news, everything was in a shambles at the Inn.  Tobe would be coming home soon, but what will he find when he gets there? Naomi is still taking trips to the prison to see Tobe, with her brother Galen’s knowledge, in fact Galen just will not admit that Naomi and Tobe have feeling for each other. And Rose and Galen are not always seeing eye to eye on things, so they break off their relationship. The sisters have a guest, their fourteenth cousin twice removed, and Jake Hertzler is still on the loose.

This book has a lot going on, but the author pulled it together in a awesome ending that will stay with you for a while.  The relationships here are so real they feel like family, even though I am not Amish. Even after I finished this series, I kept thinking about the characters and wondering how they were doing. This is a wonderful ending to a wonderful series that I highly recommend. I would say that you will enjoy it more if you pick up the first two books in this series and read them all together.

I received this book from Revell Publishers to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

The NIV Journey Bible is uniquely designed to help readers discover the practical aspects of Christianity and better understand God. Patterned after the Willow Creek model of ministry and intended for those in the investigative stage of their spiritual journey, The Journey’s exploratory approach addresses key questions inquisitive readers may have about the Bible and its relevance today. The Journey can be used as an evangelism tool and makes a perfect gift for new believers and those looking for answers to life’s deepest questions. It is also a helpful guide for veteran Christians who want a refreshing perspective on the basics of their belief.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BIBLE

When I first saw this Bible, I wasn’t sure if it was a good one or not, but the more I read through it, the more I like it. There are many study tools in this Bible that can be used to better you knowledge of the Bible. I want to list a few things that caught my eye when I opened this book. One is the unique introduction to each chapter, at the end of each chapter there is a real life, up to date in todays world story that can be applied to the Book of the Bible that you have read. The Five Alive reading plan is for 30 days. At first I wondered why a years reading plan wasn’t offered, but then I thought, a thirty day plan will be easier to stick too, and if those people who don’t read their Bibles can stay with the plan for 30 days, then they might try another 30 days. Of course I don’t really know if this is the reason for Five Alive and its meaning, but its my ideal anyway! The front of the Bible is a picture of a walk, giving a feeling of walking with Jesus through this Bible. I love the Apicture on the front, and the same picture is on the introduction page of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. And I like the notes throughout this Bible that seven ‘explore’ themes. There are so many more things I can say about this Bible that I like, but you get the picture from what I have said already.

I hope you will give this Bible a try, and I hope you like it as much as I do. I received this Bible from BookLookBloggers to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. This continued through a Master’s program in Software Engineering, several years in the computer industry, teaching programming at the college level, and a Ph.D. in Computer Technology in Education. When she isn’t writing, Elizabeth is a voracious consumer of books and has mastered the art of reading while undertaking just about any other activity.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

And both couple are trying to find the best alternative that will work for them. Author Elizabeth Maddrey does a really good job of telling this story, with all of the emotions throughout the book, the difficulties both couples faced, the ups and downs, and weaves them together in an amazing story. Revell Presents Atlas Girl by Emily Wierenga

Atlas Girl

by  Emily Wierenga

atlas girl

Emily Wierenga left home at age eighteen with no intention of ever returning.

Broken down by organized religion, a childhood battle with anorexia, and her parents’ rigidity, she set out to find God somewhere else–anywhere else. Her travels took her across three continents in buses, cars, and planes, across mountains and over deep blue seas.

What she hadn’t realized was that her faith was waiting for her the whole time–in the place she least expected it.

Poignant and passionate, Atlas Girl is a deeply personal story of the yearning we all share to be truly known, entirely forgiven, and utterly loved.

“Emily shares the unexpected beauty God has created in her broken places as he’s made her heart whole again, and how he can do the same for you.”–Holley Gerth, bestselling author of You’re Already Amazing

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Emily Wierenga left her home looking for a like that she wanted, or thought she wanted. Her travels took her to may different places in the world. In searching for the life Emily thought she wanted, she gives vivid details of her new life. She spent time in Brazzaville, Congo, and this was interesting to read about because I have heard a lot about the Congo. She also spent time in Japan, China, the Middle East, but she still couldn’t find what she was really looking for. It wasn’t until she

Emily Wierenga tells her story, a very difficult story with a lot of raw emotions as she so vividly tells her story. She goes through a lot of heartaches and difficulties as she searches for what she is looking for in life. This is not an easy book to read because are Emily pours her heart out and tell everything in this book. I love the way Emily is reaching out to everyone, telling her story in a way that it can help others. This is a great book for everyone to read, but especially the younger generation. Reading Atlas Girl could help you in making the right choices in your life. I highly recommend this book to everyone!!

ABOUT THIS BOOK

Love does extraordinary things to people . . .

In a single, impulsive act, Naomi King chooses to follow her heart into unfamiliar territory, jeopardizing all that she holds dear. If anyone finds out what she’s up to, she’s in for trouble. But when it comes to Tobe Schrock, Naomi believes it’s worth it.

But it all comes crashing down when a young woman arrives at the Inn at Eagle Hill with an unexpected delivery for Tobe. Add a guest at the inn with a curious talent and a genealogist who is more interested in modern-day Schrocks than in old family trees, and evidence starts to mount that points to something sinister at work. Or someone.

In this riveting conclusion to The Inn at Eagle Hill series, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher pulls out all the stops with a fast-paced tale of deception, revelation, and romance.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I love this series, and I wish that this wasn’t the end of this series. I would love to read more about Naomi King, and all of the characters at the Inn at Eagle Hill. A young women arrives at the Inn with some very shocking news, news that could change the lives of everyone there. Tobe should be coming home soon, but what will he find when he gets there? Naomi is still taking trips to the prison to see Tobe, with her brother Galen’s knowledge, in fact Galen just will not admit that Naomi and Tobe have feeling for each other. And Rose and Galen are not always seeing eye to eye on things, so they break off their relationship. The sisters have a guest, their fourteenth cousin twice removed, and Jake Hertzler is still on the loose.

There is a lot going on in this book, and a lot of loose ends that need wrapping up. throughout the book I kept wondering how Ms. Fisher would pull this all together, but as usual, she does an amazing job. I was on pins and needles throughout the book, just wondering who was gonna do what, and what was happening to another.

I hope you will this book a try, and I hope you like it as much as I do. I received this book from Revell Publishers to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. VB6 Cookbook by Mark Bittman

VB6 Cookbook by Mark Bittman

vb6 cookbook

Following up on his bestselling diet plan, VB6, the incomparable Mark Bittman delivers a full cookbook of recipes designed to help you eat vegan every day before 6:00 p.m.–and deliciously all of the time.

Whether you call it felxitarian, part-time veganism, or vegetable-centric, the plant-based, real-food approach to eating introduced in Bittman’s New York Times bestselling book VB6 has helped countless people regain their good health, control their weight, and forge a smarter, more ethical relationship with food. VB6 does away with the hard and fast rules, the calorie-counting, and the portion control of conventional diets; it’s a regimen that is designed to be easy toa dopt and stick to for a lifetime.

When Bittman committed to a vegan before 6:00 pm diet, he quickly realized that everything about it became easier if he cooked his own meals at home. In The VB6 Cookbook he makes this proposition more convenient than you could imagine. Drawing on a varied and enticing pantry of vegan staples strategically punctuated with “treat” foods (including meat and other animal products), he has created a versatile repertoire of recipes that makes following his plan simple, satisfying, and sustainable.

Breakfasts, the most challenging meal of the day for some vegans, are well represented here, with a full range of hot cereals, whirl-and-go-dairy free smoothies, toast toppers, and brunch-worthy entrees. Lunches include hearty soupls, sandwiches, beans, grains, and pastas to pack along wherever the day takes you, and more than a dozen snack recipes provide the perfect afternoon pick-me-up to banish the vending-machine cravings that can undo a day of eating well. Dinners are flexitarian, focusing on vegetable-forward meals that are augmented by a range of animal products for fullest flavor, satisfaction, and nutrient density. A chapter devoted entirely to “building blocks”–make-ahead components you mix and match–ensures that a flavorful and healthy meal is never more than a few minutes away.

If you’ve thought of trying a vegan diet but worry it’s too monotonous or unfamiliar, or simply don’t want to give up foods you love to eat, Bittman’s vegan and flexitarian recipes will help you cook your way to a new, varied and quite simply better way of eating you can really commit to…for life.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I found this cookbook pretty interesting. The idea of eating vegetables, and plant based foods until 6pm, then finish off dinner with a full meal including meats and vegetables is quite intriguing, to say the least. This kind of diet makes it easier on those who have problems giving up foods they love. I really like a lot of the recipes here, and especially the veggie ones because my diet is mostly vegetables.

The 350 recipes included in this book help follow this diet plan, as well as the really good tips and ideas of the author. Each meal, including snacks is broken down separate to make it more simple and easy to follow. Mark Bittman does a really wonderful job of researching his ideas and bringing out the facts of what he is saying. I think this is a diet plan that a lot of us could definitely follow. If this sounds like your kind of eating, I highly recommend that you check out this really neat cookbook for yourself.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BIBLE

There are so many things I like about this Easy Read Bible, but the main one is that I can read it easier because of the larger font! Thus, the Easy Read Bible gets it name! And the duo-tone black makes it beautiful too! This is not a study Bible so it does not have all of the study materials added to it, and I think this makes it easier to read through the Bible, because it is easy to get off track of reading chasing the study questions and facts. The ribbon marker keeps your place, and the words of Jesus are in read, remind me just what Jesus said as I read. If you want to give this wonderful Bible as a gift, there is a presentation page, but for me, this one is mine, I’m keeping this one for myself! As you can tell I really like this Easy Read Bible, so I encourage you to check it out for yourself!
