Litfuse Presents…..Summer’s List by Anita Higman

About the Book

Summer’s ListSummer’s List (River North, June 2015)

A dying wish alters the course of a young woman’s life.

Life hadn’t been easy for Summer Snow. In acts of selflessness-caring for her ailing parents and running her grandmother’s bookstore-she had forfeited her youth and dreams for the needs of others. And the only tries she had at love… didn’t turn out. She had the bookstore, she had her beloved granny, but she was missing something-or someone.

Opportunity strikes when Granny sends Summer on an unexpected adventure with one Martin Langtree, a kind but gangly young man from Summer’s past. A childhood friendship is rekindled, a romance is sparked, and mysteries are solved in one magical Texas summer. Will Summer strike out on love again, or will things finally go her way?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is a beautiful story of a grandmother who is dying, and her wish is for her grand daughter to do what is on a list she has made for me. Granny knows that life has not been easy for Summer Snow, so on this list are things that Summer hasn’t been able to do, because of taking care of her parents, then helping Granny in her bookstore. The main thing Summer had to do was to find long time lost friend, Martin Langtree, and have Martin to help her with her list. When Summer met Martin, he was the same Martin she had known from before, yet he was different. And as the two started on granny’s list, they found out more than they bargained for!

I love this sweet story, and especially granny and her personality. There is one thing I will warn you about, if you have lost a mom or grandma to congestive heart failure, this book may be difficult for you to read. I say this because I lost my mom to this disease, and there were places in the book that I could hardly read. But this doesn’t take anything from the story, because Ms. Higman does an awesome job of connecting the reader to the story, the characters and keeps the story interesting enough that you want to see what happens to this family. I really liked Martin, and the attitude he had toward his brothers was special and heartwarming. I don’t know if I could have been like him or not. This book was really different from a lot of books I have read, with the special list, and the expectations of Summer from her granny. But it was a good different, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! And this is a story that would fit into everyone’s book needs! Especially if you are looking for a good sweet, light and enjoyable read, a read that will take a few afternoons to finish.

A Marriage in Middlebury

One decision changed both their lives . . . but will love win in the end? Charlotte Rose Hill enjoys a comfortable life serving up country delicacies, uniquely blended teas, and matchmaking advice for her quirky, devoted customers. The only thing lacking is someone to share it with. At eighteen she denied Sam Wilder’s marriage proposal after his family convinced her to walk away from their relationship. They both moved on . . . or so she thought. When Sam walks back into her life more than a decade later, Charlotte is surprised that her heart still quickens. But is it because of his presence? Or because of the presence of Sam’s new fiancée? A second chance at love doesn’t happen often, but their past may keep them apart. Is it too late for Sam and Charlotte?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I don’t really know what I was expecting with this book, but it was so very good! I loved it, and really didn’t want it to end. I hope there will be a book two later! Charlotte Rose Hill was thrilled when she found out that her old highschool sweetheart was back in town, but then he brings a surprise with him in the form of a woman. A woman he was going to marry. And to top it all, Audrey wants Charlotte to cater the wedding, and help her with their happy day. How could Charlotte do this. Especially when she still has strong feelings for Sam. And Sam for Charlotte, but then it was Charlotte that said no to Sam’s proposal all those years ago, breaking Sam’s heart. But Charlotte is keeping a secret that she would never tell about why she said no to Sam, or would she tell?

First of all, Charlotte was a better person than me, because I probably would have sent Audrey packing. I loved the tearoom setting giving the story a warm, homey feeling. Charlotte was a special person in the community, a person that everyone loved dearly. And I really liked Charlotte’s character. And I even liked Audrey, though she seemed to be such a needy person. As feelings started to break out as the story goes on, this book gets even more intoxicating. And I loved it even more! I couldn’t put this book down until it was finished, mainly because of Charlotte and Sam, but there were other twists and turns throughout the story that are sure to keep your attention. So, if you are looking for a really good, clean, enjoyable time of entertainment, this book is a must for you! And oh, Anita Higman is a fantastic storyteller, and I know you will be just like me and watch out for more of her books in the future.  I encourage you to pick up a copy of A Marriage in Middlebury for an awesome read, and you will love your visit to Charlotte’s warm and cosy,  Rose Cottage Tearoom.

Litfuse Presents….Winter in Full Bloom by Anita Higman,,,Plus Kindle Fire Giveaway!!

Book Info
About Winter in Full Bloom:Lily Winter’s wings are folded so tightly around her daughter that when empty nest arrives, she feels she can no longer fly. But Lily’s lonely, widowed life changes in a heartbeat when she goes to visit a woman who is almost a stranger to her—a woman who also happens to be her mother. During their fiery reunion, her mother reveals a dark family secret that she’d been hiding for decades—Lily has an identical twin sister who was put up for adoption when they were just babies.Without looking back, Lily—with her fear of flying—boards a jumbo jet and embarks on a quest to find her sister which leads half way around the world to Melbourne, Australia. Befriended by imprudent Ausie, he might prove to be the key to finding her sister. But her journey becomes a circle that leads her back home to attempt a family reunion and to find the one dream she no longer imagined possible-the chance to fall in love again.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I love, love the cover of this book, but I really didn’t know what to expect, and now I see that it fits the story perfectly! Lily didn’t have a relationship with her mother, a mother that was so bitter she didn’t get along with anyone. After going ten years without seeing her, Lily visits her mother and finds out a deep dark family secret that turns Lily’s life around. Lily has an identical twin sister, and an address in Melbourne, Australia is all that they know about this lost sister. Lily has to go find her,and this is where we enjoy her journey as she travels to Australia alone, and starts searching. While setting on a bench, an Ausie appears and Lily is surprised that he just might be the one who can help her find her twin. And I don’t like giving anything away, so you need to read the book to find out what happens.

Anita Higman does it again, she writes a wonderful, interesting and entertaining story for us to enjoy. I really enjoyed Australia and the way Ms.Higmand so vividly describes everything about this interesting place where Lily is. All of the characters grow on you as the story unfolds. They are truly well developed as the story unfolds. I sure hope you enjoy this awesome story as much as I did. This is one book that I will be reading again!! I hope there is a second book…….I would love to find out more about Lily and her family!
