Claire couldn’t get Monty’s wind-burned face out of her mind that evening. She hadn’t realized how much she’d anticipated seeing him again. Nor did she understand the depth of her eagerness. They’d shared only a few encounters since they’d met, yet in her mind the man seemed like a friend she’d known for years. She fixed a light supper and picked at it while she watched the news. Nothing tasted good. Television held no appeal. She dragged herself to the papers she needed to review for tomorrow’s school day. The only image filling her mind tonight stood a little over six feet tall, with short, sandy hair, a shadowed beard on his chin, and piercing blue eyes.
