Release date: April 8, 2022

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

In Then Judgement my Caryl McAdoo, A story of the three days Jesus did not spend in the tomb, McAdoo gives her account of what might have happened during these three days. McAdoo creates characters that fit the story so well. I love Dodi, and the honoring but yet horrible job he had. This story is so beautifully written, and the Biblical details so vivid, I was in awe as I read the entire book, and shed many tears as I thought about the price Jesus paid for my sins in order for me to go to Heaven. The pain and agony He suffered. And Praise the Lord Jesus didn’t stay in that tomb!

I love Caryl McAdoo’s books, and I think I have found my favorite book that I have read of hers. If you enjoy Biblical fiction, this is one you really need to read. You will not be disappointed. And you might just find a new author to follow. For me, Then Judgement is Five Stars (plus more if I could give it more).

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

About this book:

A story of the three days Jesus did not spend in the tomb.
The Son of Man was made sin, cast away from the presence of the Great I AM’s presence, and condemned to Hades to face judgement. What exactly happened during those three days from the Lord’s lifeless body of flesh being placed in the tomb and His glorious resurrection? Hints throughout the Scriptures give clues to what transpired—how He got to Paradise to be with the thief on the cross that same day. One thing is certain! He rose on the third day and now lives forever more seated on His throne at the right hand of the Father! Hallelujah!

Award-winning author Caryl McAdoo prays her story brings God glory, and her best-selling stories—over sixty published—delight Christian readers around the world. The prolific writer also enjoys singing the new songs the Lord gives her; you may listen at YouTube. Sharing four children and twenty-one grandsugars (three are greats), Caryl and Ron, her high-school-sweetheart-husband of fifty-three years, live in the woods south of Clarksville, seat of Red River County in far Northeast Texas. The McAdoos wait expectantly for God to open the next door.

More from Caryl

As many of you know, my husband Ron and I write together. When Simon and Schuster released our tenth title, the editor requested one name for the cover and since it was a historical romance, preferred a female’s. The arrangement worked so well for us that we continued only my name being on the cover after we went Indie!

Anyway, we have been talking about writing this book for years, coming across little clues for the story in Scripture studies now and again over that time. At last, God released us to write THEN JUDGEMENT based on the twenty-seventh verse of Hebrews, nineth chapter: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

I love searching the scriptures and telling a story that strictly adheres to God’s Book, His Living Word, the Holy Bible. I love His stories and so understand that His Word is bread to our souls, feeding us wisdom and knowledge of our Creator and His everlasting, never-ending love for us!

Creating Biblical fiction tales carries a lot of responsibility that I truly enjoy taking on, being a guardian of the Truth. I love to bring characters from those days gone by so long ago to life on the pages of my books! I do feel a bit like John when he said this, writing of our Savior.

“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.” John 21:27

Biblical fiction could easily become my favorite genre—if it isn’t already. I do write more historical romance stories set in the 1800s (a favorite time period) in Texas (my favorite state)! And as much as I love that research . . . nothing compares to digging into the Word!

I pray you will enjoy living through the three days that Jesus did not spend in the tomb! May my story cause you to dig a little yourself, checking out our theory! I know this to be Truth: “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11

Hallelujah! Glory be to His Holy Name! The righteous run into it and are saved! There is no one like unto Him! He alone it the Great King over all the earth! Worthy to receive glory and praise!
As always, I’m ‘Praying my story gives God glory!’
Blessings, y’all!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

You just can’t go wrong reading a Caryl McAdoo book. I always know I am in for a good Historical Christian Romance read whenever I pick up a book of Miss Caryl’s. In Texas Timbers, we find Autumn and her dreams, and she just knows Sean is the man for her because of the times he has been in her dreams, but Sean is not so sure about that. I love that McAdoo gives us solid characters that develop so well throughout the story. The story flows well and I had fun reading from start to finish. The historic Texas setting gives a feel of what the this historical place in Texas is all about. Of course there is so much more to this story that you don’t want to miss. I encourage you to check out this story my Caryl McAdoo and while you are at it, check out all of her other amazing reads.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

More from Caryl

In 1870, my TEXAS TIMBERS heroine Autumn Hope found herself practically an old maid. She’d spent those years when most would be courting taking care of her mother, who was ill and dying. It hadn’t been long since Liberty’s death when the story opens, but Autumn had one of her prophetic dreams—God had shown her a man and assured her He would answer her prayers for a husband.

Readers first met Autumn at her birth in book two, TEXAS MY TEXAS. She had her first prophetic dream in book four, LEAVING TEXAS, at the age of nine. Distraught over her older sister Charity leaving to live in California, the Lord gave her reassurance that her sister would be back to live in Texas, and that she and her new husband would build a hotel in Dallas!

All my readers love Morgan and Charity Lowell and all the adventures they have at the Lowell House Hotel! This is the first time though that God has given her a dream about herself. She knows what the man looks like and exactly where he’s working, but not his name. Still, she is determined to go and find him!

Can you imagine this man . . . a lady hunting him down in the woods while he’s working then telling him he’s going to be her husband? That she’s going to be his wife? Because God said so!

Poor Sean O’Farrell! He was so perplexed by the crazy lady! Oh, his mother prayed plenty and spouted God’s Word at him all the time, but he and the Big Guy . . . they hadn’t been tight in years.

TEXAS TIMBERS is a fun story and not like any I’ve written before! Readers will enjoy reuniting with Morgan and Charity, Henry and May Buckmeyer (from my first family saga), Corbin—Autumn’s father, and so many more of these great characters who so easily worm their way right into your heart . . . at least they did mine! I hope you’ll enjoy it! As always, I pray my story gives God glory!

I always enjoy read a new book from Caryl McAdoo and this is a sweet interesting one to read. Enoch and Gus go on a cattle drive, thinking this was it. This is their time to shine and strike out on their own. But they were surprised at what they really found. And it changed their lives.

I really enjoyed Gus and Enoch and their journey on their cattle drive. There’s a lot to do on those drives, a lot to learn. I’ve read several book involving these drives and I never get tired of them because they are all unique in their own way. With these two guys, they meet up with Calli, Vi and the sweet and adorablelittle Bella. The ladies had been attack and Gus and Enoch want to help them. But spending so much time together they started feeling the attraction. And can they fall in love and still do the things their parents expect of them? They sure have a lot of decisions to make. I love these characters and enjoyed this journey so much. And I really appreciate how McAdoo weaves the Christian life into the lives of her characters, making them seem so realistic. This book is set in the mid 1800’s, so if you enjoy historical fiction, you will love this one. Texas Trails gets Five Stars from me!

More from Caryl

Get along little doggie!

TEXAS TRAILS is the sixth novel in the Cross Timbers Family Saga series. I’d never written much about being on a cattle drive and thought it would be great fun. Back in the Texas Romance Family Saga series, Charley Nightingale made several trips to Kansas with a herd and took his son Nathaniel, but I skipped over the actual drive part.

Readers first met co-hero Enoch Lowell in QUINCY & PRISCILLA then got to know him better in DUPLICITY At The Lowell House when his best friend Gus Hale (TEXAS TRAIL’s other co-hero) is introduced. Both those stories are set in 1866. For TEXAS TRAILS, it’s three years later, and Enoch is ready to declare himself a man and start earning his own way. Driving a bunch of cows up to Kansas sounds like the ticket to cut his mother’s apron strings and earn some dollars in the process.

The son of Morgan and Charity O’Neal Lowell (LEAVING TEXAS, book four) and grandson of Liberty O’Neal Harrell (GONE TO TEXAS, book one) talks Gus into going with him, and as partners, they start building a herd. All the while, Charity is pitching a fit as her plan for her firstborn includes Harvard University.

One thing I loved about this story is that Morgan sets it up—behind the scenes of course—for trusted men to take in his son and Gus on their trail drive. Enters the infamous Texas Ranger Levi Baylor (Texas Romance Family Saga book two HEARTS STOLEN) and the boy he reared as his own (grown now), Charley Nightingale!

I already love those two men from my earlier Texas Romance Family Saga series—just as my readers do—and totally relished their appearance in this story! Revisiting old beloved friends brings great joy to this author, in real life and my fictitious world!! I adore crossing these characters over the two series!

So many things are apt to happen out on the prairie that cowboys never expect. There are rivers to cross and the natives to deal with, some who pose real danger to life and limbs! Cows birth calves, storms descend, and herds stampede, but that’s not all that can make a cowboy’s days rough. Enoch’s and Gus’s lives are definitely changed forever on the out there on the trail.

I’m thinking if I were a younger woman, I would totally enjoy going along on their cattle drive! How about you?

It’s always fun to solve a mystery along with the characters and that what we get to do in Duplicity at the Lowell House where someone is found murdered in their room. It was total chaos because it’s never been a murder there before. Morgan is beside himself and Charity is excited about solving this mystery. I haven’t read a lot of Caryl McAdoo’s books but that needs to change for me because I am really loving this series. I also need to go back and read Texas Romance Family Saga series to be up to date with the characters brought from this earlier series from McAdoo.

I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next book from Caryl McAdoo. I love her realistic characters and the way she writes them straight into the readers hearts. Something new for this author! I call it a historical, romantic mystery! If you’ve read QUINCY & PRISCILLA At The Lowell House, then you know a favorite couple–Morgan and Charity Lowell (book four, LEAVING TEXAS) own the hotel.

In the twelve years since they opened the Dallas hotel, there had never been a murder until—of all people—a Mister John Smith is found dead in room three-thirteen, and his clandestine demise needs to be solved posthaste.

The chief deputy sheriff in town, Tatum McCarthy, served as sergeant alongside Captain Lowell under General Henry Buckmeyer during the war, and the men remain good friends. So guess who comes to Dallas as a character witness . . . Henry! Along with his beautiful wife May Meriwether (book three HOPE REBORN) Buckmeyer!

That’s right! The patriarch of my Texas Romance Family Saga series!

What fun to discover the wonderful connection of these Texas heroes! I’ve never enjoyed anything more in my writing career than to link these two series! Cross Timbers and Texas Romances make DUPLICUITY At The Lowell House a rip-roaring good time as Charity pulls out all the stops entertaining her favorite author—other than Morgan, that is!

This first mystery will be followed by others that Morgan and Charity will work on together. I’ll promise you now, there’s no telling who might pop up when there’s a murder to be unraveled! I pray you will all enjoy the fun and seeing these characters, natural friends in early Texas, come together for new stories!

Quincy and Priscilla need a little match making, or at least that’s what some people thing, the only thing is, Quincy is pretty much clueless, though Priscilla is well aware as her mother sends her off to Texas for her new marriage. Imaging her surprise when she finds out who Quincy is, and the fact that he has no clue who she is and what she is here for. Boy is he in for a surprise.

I love Caryl McAdoo’s books and this is such a fun one to read, and as Ms. McAdoo says, a roller coaster ride for sure. I enjoyed the journey with Priscilla and Quincy, though it wasn’t always an easy one. McAdoo created wonderful characters with this one, each telling their story so expertly and I enjoyed watching their development throughout the story. There are twists and turns here in the story as well that kept me on my toes as I read this wonderful read. And if I say more I am sure to give away the plot. So go grab this book so that you can read it for yourself. You are sure to love it just as I did.

Well, what’s better or more fun than a story with an improbable hero-heroine match! Neither ever even thought about hiring someone to find them a spouse! But a newly-widowed mother wanted a husband for her daughter, and a dear daughter wanted a wife for her widowed father.

The two believed they knew exactly what Quincy and Priscilla needed—to marry!

I love reading stories with connecting characters, so this one relates to my Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga. Downtown Dallas is the setting for QUINCY & PRISCILLA At The Lowell House, a hotel Morgan and Charity Lowell built . . . just as her little sister dreamed in book four, LEAVING TEXAS.

Once Charity ate Quincy’s cuisine, there was nothing to do but hire him away from the New York restaurant and sway him to come to Texas—no easy task. Morgan’s offer of partial ownership tipped the scales, and as time passed, Charity and his wife became fast friends, even going through pregnancies together.

Her Maisie came first, then when the second baby girl was born, the mother passed, leaving the chef a widower with a tiny daughter. Now eight years old, Rayne and Maisie pester the girl’s mother, her honorary Aunt Charity, into going in cahoots with them to find Quincy a wife—whether he wanted one or not.

Meanwhile, back in Chicago, Priscilla’s papa died suddenly, leaving her mother practically penniless. Behind her socialite daughter’s back, Mama schemed to get her daughter a husband. Men were scarce in 1866 after the war. Knowing her hard-headed girl would refuse any such proposition, she hired a matchmaker behind her back.

The match had been made, and she had to tell Priscilla! Mama tried at least fifty times and failed, but time was up. The family home had been sold, a new year was dawning, and she had train tickets in hand for the girl’s soon departure to Texas.

That’s where my story begins! Mama can’t force Priscilla to go, so what’s it going to take to get on that train? Then when she arrives at the Lowell House and her intended knows nothing of her . . .

I believe the journey will take the readers on a rollercoaster ride!

This is the first book in the Thanksgiving Books & Blessings Collections that I have read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In this story, Aaron and Rich have been friends for a long time, but are now fighting opposite each other. Their good friends Cass and JoJo are left behind praying for the two at war.

I love Caryl McAdoo’s books and this one is no different. Even with the sadness of the war and with friends fighting opposite each other, she manages to weave an intriguing tale that will warm your heart. As always, I love and appreciate the way Ms. McAdoo shows the element of faith throughout the lives of her characters. I had fun reading this one. And friends Aaron and Rich and Cass and Aron quickly felt like family. My heart did go out to Aaron and Rich as they tried to deal with the situations thrown at them. The author clearly shows that we can trust God when our hearts are heavy, when we are in situations that are beyond our control. If you enjoy Civil War with an inspirational twist, you will enjoy this one. Why not give it a try! Another 5 star read from my for this author.

The families in the Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga have embedded themselves into my heart. This story takes them through the Civil War, and not everyone comes home to Texas. Josie Jo, born in book one of the series is ready to confess her love because he’s leaving . . . and she may never see him again.

Her best friend Cassandra shouts her love for the same man and her brother loves her friend! I love to see how God untangles our messes! He walks with them through every trial, all their pain, and the waiting, waiting, waiting for the end of the war, news of their beaus, and to be married.

The title TEXAS TROUBLES came from an incident that occurred in North Texas just prior to the Days of Aggression. In the scorching July heat, reported one hundred and ten degrees on that fateful day, three downtowns—Dallas, Denton a little to the north, and Pilot Point, more of a hamlet—went up in flames.

Immediately word spread that slaves and pro-union abolitionists were responsible, and justice came swiftly at the hands of the vigilante committee. Three slaves, one a preacher, hanged the following day on the banks of the Trinity River which then was nearest the land now known as Dealy Plaza, made famous by President Kennedy’s assignation there.

Though it proved to be an extraordinarily hot summer—water wells dried up and crops withered in the fields as the hundred-degree days went on and on. On the 8th of July, 1860, many residents of Dallas sought refuge at Wallace Peak’s downtown drugstore; that’s where the fire started.

Flames spread quickly from one business to another, blown by the hot winds from one to the next. By the time the fire was extinguished half of Dallas’ business district was gone. Now, phosphorous matches are said to be the culprit through spontaneous combustion for the fires as they all started in establishments carrying the highly flammable fire-lighting sticks.

Many say the incident called the Texas Troubles precipitated the Southern States’ cessation and even the Civil War itself. Mainly because of the FAKE NEWS spread by a young editor at the Dallas Herald. He sent letters to newspapers in Houston, Austin, and others across the state blaming a slave up rise for the fires and warning that the slaves were rising up.

Guess we aren’t the first Americans to deal with fake new! Before it was all over, at least a hundred men had hanged, slaves and their white abolitionist advocates. The panic never truly abated because too soon, the war between the states that pit brothers against brothers began.

This is where TEXAS TROUBLES, book five in the Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga begins. One brother went the way of the vigilantes, the other traveled north to join the Federalists. I think you’ll love this story of love and the most terrible times our country has ever experienced.

A Nurse for Jacob Author: Caryl McAdoo

About the Book

Internet_20200811_095821_2

Book:  A Nurse for Jacob

Author: Caryl McAdoo

Genre:  Christian Historical Romance

Release Date: July 2, 2020

Physician heal thyself
While physical wounds heal with time, a special balm is needed to heal those sick of soul. In the Civil War aftermath, two such people’s paths cross. Recent graduate of the Harrow School of Nursing first class in May 1868, Lydia Andrews arrives at the Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, hired on Clara Barton’s endorsement. There she meets Doctor Jacob Johnston, and both soon learn that love is the salve to soothe wounded souls.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I usually don’t read reviews of books before I read them because of too many spoilers, so I had no idea what this book would be like. But since I’ve enjoyed all of Caryl McAdoo’s book that I have read, I knew it would be a great read. And it was.

The year is 1968 and Lydia Andrews arrives in New Orleans at the Touro Infirmary where she is to work as a nurse. But when Dr. Jacob Johnston walks in on an emergency situation Lydia takes care of without being ask, he realizes her worth and immediately promotes her to aid the Drs. there at the Infirmary. As they spend time together, their attraction grows. And I have to say, for some reason, I just didn’t like the Dr. Don’t know what it was, and his character just never grew on me. But I did like Lydia. She was vibrant, determined, and always did her job with perfection. She was determined that her life would glorify God no matter what others thought, even Jacob. And this is why the ending surprised me. Which was a good thing because it means that I didn’t have the book all figured out. But that’s enough to say about this book.

If you enjoy a good clean enjoyable read, this would be that book. It is only a little over 100 pages so it can be read in a few hours at the most. It’s nice to read a short one once in a while. And it’s an awesome read for those who don’t have time for a long read! So give this one a try. You will be glad you did!

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

More from Caryl

From the get-go, the idea about writing a story with a nurse heroine intrigued me; I haven’t had one before. My niece is a nurse and I have several friends and readers who serve. I believe nursing is a divine calling and admire the many who choose to be a medical servant.

The connection in the multi-author Nursing the Heart Collection is that the first class of nurses recently graduated from the Harrows’s School of Nursing are placed across the country through the friends and acquaintances of Clara Barton, who teaches at the school.

So I joined the project and started my research of medical practices in the post-Civil War years. It was a time where many medical breakthroughs occurred, and older instruments were greatly improved. I so enjoyed learning how healthcare practices have changed.

I think you’ll enjoy all that to as an integral part of this historical romance. This Texas author hopes readers will love my two medical servants, Lydia Andrews and the older Doctor Jacob Johnston, and I’m always “Praying my story gives God glory!”

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Life takes on a fast turn of events for both Christina and her brother when Christina’s fiancee dumped her. Now she has no choice but to head west with her brother and his two kids. This story takes some interesting turns as this family joruney’s across the US. Caryl McAdoo creates interested characters that fascinates me and keeps me interested in the plot throughout the story. I really enjoyed Christina’s character, and felt she added so much to the story. Especially with the two completely opposite men who have been in her life. The cover of this book is beautiful,  and I appreciate the way Ms. McAdoo makes mention of the Christian life in the lives of her characters.

This is a story I encourage you to check out. I hope you will enjoy this one as much as I did. A copy of this book was provided by the author/publisher for me to read and review. The opinions here are mine only. I was not ask to write a positive review.

More from Caryl

I’m so excited about this year’s Lockets and Lace story! I’ve fallen in love with its characters. Asher and his sister Christina, his girls Samantha and Patricia, and his friend, Ethan Cord is certainly a man’s man though he has a checkered past to overcome.

His wife dies in childbirth, leaving him with two little girls, then when his parents pass, too, what’s to tie Asher Adams to New York?

His younger sister Christina is about to be settled into her new life, married and well cared for, so there’s nothing holding the wine merchant back from his dreams of owning a vineyard in the Napa Valley. He decides a new life in the west is the best thing for him and his daughters.

Then at the last minute, the family is turned upside down when the rogue engaged to Christina dumps her and calls the wedding off. Asher’s already sold the brownstone. She suddenly has nowhere to go and no one to watch over her if he leaves.

She never wanted to, but he insists her only choice is to go with them, accompany him and her nieces and make her new life in California . . . and he knows the perfect man for her, too!

One thing I love about this book is that as it draws to its end in Saint Joseph, Missouri, a new young woman is introduced, Remi, and her book—my May ‘Prairie Roses Collection’ story REMI—continues with the Adams family and segues into a new romance!

I hope readers will love that as well, praying my story gives God glory!

John David’s Calling by Caryl McAdoo

About the Book

Title: John David’s Calling

Author: Caryl McAdoo

Genre: Historical Romance

Release Date: May, 2018

When much is given, much is required.

Everything comes easy to David Nightingale. The favored son of Cypress Springs comes of age in the Texas Hill Country with one foot in PawPaw’s Church of Christ and the other in Gramp’s Holiness Church. He loves tilling the soil, traipsing the back woods varmint hunting, and most of all Hannah Claire. But the Lord calls him to leave everything. Will he choose to follow or succumb to his love for Hannah? If he stays, can he have it all?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

David Nightingale is the son and grandson of revivalist preachers. And as his mentors, David too feels the calling of God. But he is torn between doing the will of God or listening to everyone else, especially the love of his life, Hannah. David and Hannah have been sweethearts since childhood and someday they hope to marry. But will Hannah be willing to follow where the Lord is leading David?
He fun thing about reading this book is that the setting in in the 1960-1970’s and I was a teen during that time. It was fun reading about the culture of that time. I liked David, he was a kind and caring person and I appreciated his willingness to follow God’s leading. Hannah came across to me as a spoiled brat, getting mad and pouting every time she didn’t get her way. Her personality was so wishy-washy, one minute she was mad and fussing at David about his decisions and the next, following along with him. It was difficult to keep up with her. But I kept reminding myself that she was only a young teenager and that’s how they act! The story was a sweet and heartwarming story with characters that played their parts well throughout the story.
This is a light read, one you can just pick up and enjoy where you left off. It’s a great book for a nice summer read. A  copy of this book was provided by Celebration Lit Tours and the author for me to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. Guest Post from Caryl McAdoo

At just one-year-old, David John Prescott sat on the hip of his mother, Sandra Louise Harris Prescott in the end of CHIEF OF SINNERS, book ten (and last) of my Texas Romance Family Saga series. His biological father, Buddy Nightingale walked away from them both, choosing obedience to God over the love of his life and his son.

Staunch Church of Christ believers, his mother’s parents took in the baby while her guilt took her to Dallas and eventually France to oversee the care of her mentally deranged husband Harry Prescott. So David grew up in the Texas Hill Country, well loved and cared for, with his mother visiting as often as she can.

David’s paternal grandfather, Nathaniel Nightingale (from Texas Romance’s book eight and nine COVERING LOVE and MIGHTY TO SAVE)—once a famous tent preacher with a healing ministry—has been close, quitting the road to pastor a nearby Holiness Church. As David grows, he sees him occasionally when his father Buddy visits from Alabama and Gramps always came to watch him play sports.

From a long line of people who love the Lord, I thought to write a trilogy titled THE REVIVALIST. JOHN DAVID’S CALLING is book one.

At fourteen years of age, David stepped in to rescue a little third grader being bullied and instantly became her hero. As Hannah Claire grew, doting on him, making him gifts and cards, swooning, she won him over, and PawPaw allowed him to visit her church one Sunday a month.

The second book in the Trilogy will be HANNAH’S WILDERNESS, and then I’ll wrap up their stories with book three, KING DAVID’S TABERNACLE.

I’ve so enjoyed these characters—the Buckmeyers, Baylors, and Nightingales—I find it hard put them on the shelf. They’re like family. I’ve even got one story started that’s a contemporary called THE KING OF TEXAS, with Patrick Henry the III as hero.

As all are written to stand alone, it’s never necessary for readers to know all the ancestors to enjoy JOHN DAVID’S CALLING or any of the series really—though I’m pretty certain reading the Family Saga in order would be the best! So if you love David’s book, you might want to go back to VOW UNBROKEN, book one and read all ten. I think you’re sure to love them all!

One thing I love about this JOHN DAVID’S CALLING is that it takes place in my days. I graduated high school in 1968, same as David, so he lives through the same times as me! That’s really been fun. But I must say I do resent it being called a historical a little J LOL

As always, I pray my story gives God glory and that its readers will be drawn closer to Him through it. He blesses me and highly favors me daily. I cannot thank or praise Him enough! Thank you for reading my stories!

Genre: Biblical Fiction

Release Date: April, 2018

The wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. How could the wisest man ever to live turn away from following God? The key is in Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs that King Solomon wrote after his return to the Lord. Who was the Shulamite? And why did he call her his sister spouse? Only God knows all the answers, but the King Solomon left clues. You will never forget reading this anointed story of love and may find yourself setting it down to wipe tears away or simply worship the great I AM.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I AM MY BELOVED

For some reason it took me a while to get into this book. I know being a Biblical Fiction it’s not going to have the thrills and chills of other books, but it just started off show for me. But it does get more interesting as I followed the more mature teenager, Abishag as she is called by King David, and goes and marries the elderly King, and then later after the King passed away is called to the new king, King Solomon.
There are many things in this story that is heartwarming for me. One is the breathtaking beauty of Abishag. She sure made a beautiful Queen as she took King David as her husband. I loved her deep love for her husband and also the way she would lay down with him to keep him warm. Nothing sexual at all, just a tender moment. Another touching thing is the way Bathsheba takes Abishag in after Kind David passed away, helping her in her grief, and befriending her and being the mother figure Abishag needed at the time. I also loved how Abishag was so willing to follow the Lord, no matter what He ask if her. No matter what it cost her. And this touched my heart as well, because I ask myself, would I be willing to give up everything to do what God ask of me? There are many things we can learn from this young teenage girl.
Ms. McAdoo does a beautiful job of weaving the lives of these Biblical characters together to help us better understand this portion of the Bible. And to give us and idea of what Abishag’s life may have been like. A  copy of this book was provided by Celebration Lit Tours and the author for me to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine only.

Guest Post from Caryl McAdoo

I AM My Beloved is a story unlike any I’ve ever written in that it moved me so. Not saying all my stories don’t move me, they do—to tears and laughter. Just today I got all teary writing a scene in my WIP for next September. But I AM My Beloved moved me to worship. I literally would stop typing, bask in God’s presence, and worship.

I believe that it is anointed and of course, as always, pray it will give God glory. I pray that His children will be blessed and drawn closer to the Father reading it. It’s a romance, yes, but nothing like any proverbial historical romances you’ve ever read.

It’s the story of Abishag. Have you ever heard of her? Her name is mentioned only five times in the Bible, all in 1Kings. “So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.” Kings 1:3 They brought her to King David. To keep him warm during his dying days.

Scripture tells us the she cherished David, and also that he never knew her—his virgin queen. You’ll love her heart, creativity, attitudes, intelligence, and spirit of submission. It’s like all God’s beloved daughters can identify with her. Writing her story was akin to writing a love letter to Jesus. So often, it was Him and me, not these characters of olden days brought to life in I AM My Beloved.

This love story of what happens to Abishag after David’s death when Solomon, heir to the Throne becomes King of Israel. And perhaps, you’ll get a whole new take on the wisest man ever to live, as he takes on building the Temple of God, foreign wives, follows after their gods, then returns to serve the One True God and write Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon.

At its end, is a section I call “Search the Scriptures” that point out and explain the clues that led to its writing. I hope you’ll enjoy it!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

When I first started this book I didn’t think I would like it, but after the first few chapters, it just got better and better! This is my first book by Caryl McAdoo so I did’s know what to expect, and I love, love it!  Travis Buckmeyer loves his wife very much but he still has a secret son he has kept secret from her. Now the time has come that his passed life has to be revealed. What will his current wife say? Or think about this situation Travis is in?

Travis and his wife were an awesome couple. Though they has some reservations, they were eager to pick his son up from the detention home. This young boy didn’t know how his life would change, and for the better. And after they had him for a while, I was amazed at Emma Lee. She was getting very attached to Cody and him her. I enjoyed watching Cody working on the farm, and Cody helping Emma Lee. And Cody’s attitude changed for the better as well.

This is sweet story of what love, forgiveness is suppose to be like. Travis and Emma Lee had a love for the Lord that all Christians need. Their willingness to follow what the Lord wanted them to do, no matter what it was. Cody ended up being a very blessed young  man, and you could see it all over his face. I loved watching Cody grow spiritually blessed! Now I want to put these three on my prayer list! This is a wonderfully written story and I appreciate the ending.

Guest Post from Caryl McAdoo

SON OF PROMISE—a companion story to my Texas Romance Family Saga’s book ten CHIEF OF SINNERS—features Travis and Emma Lee Buckmeyer, who readers first meet in CHIEF. She’s the sister of its heroine Sandy Harris, and he is a friend of its hero Buddy Nightingale; he’s also the son of Crockett Buckmeyer (from book eight COVERING LOVE) and grandson of Patrick Henry Buckmeyer (hero of book one VOW UNBROKEN).
A standalone, it isn’t necessary for readers to know all these ancestors to enjoy SON OF PROMISE, but those who do will surely love it all the more. What I know is that this couple won a chunk of my heart. Their faith is outstanding and their love inspiring. In the ’40s, Emma Lee didn’t have the fertility options young women do today, and miscarriage after miscarriage left her hurting. That’s why he hadn’t told her.
He didn’t want to hurt her, but circumstances had changed, and time was up. She had to be told that morning he already had a son born from a one night liaison thirteen years before because he was leaving to claim his Cody from a reform school and bring him home.
The boy had never known real love, but I loved him from the first. Forced to grow up way too fast—lying, stealing, and participating in most any other rebellious act—he’s missed so much. He’s overwhelmed with Travis and Emma Lee—their home, their partnership and love for each other, and their generosity toward him.
He planned to light out from the start, but days piled on top each other, and he never pulled the trigger.
In VOW UNBROKEN, there was an awesome canine named Blue Dog, and I went into his POV (Point Of View—got into his head) a couple of times. My Simon & Schuster editor ‘requested’ that I lose those segments, and so I did. But in this novel, I get into a canine’s head again . . . I’m hoping readers will find that fun.
In years past, I owned, managed, and milked a herd of eighty-plus dwarf goats and loved their Great Pyrenees guardians, so it was fun to include them in the story. I love how Emma Lee was able to sell her paintings for exorbitant prices, but remained so humble and unassuming. And that she and Travis opened their home (they’re so much like my husband and me) to total strangers. We’ve had so many people live with us over the years, to help them, be blessings—the hands and feet of God in the earth.
I pray my story gives God glory and that its readers will be drawn closer to Him through it. He blesses me and highly favors me daily. I can’t thank or praise Him enough!
