Book Description:Set in the conference rooms of a white-shoe Houston law firm and the stunning coastline of Baja California, Belinda is the story of a woman’s bravery and resourcefulness at the end of her brilliant career. Her decision to fight her firm’s men in suits who demand her retirement is called into question when a man once her lover appears after a long unexplained absence.

Against a backdrop of romance and legal drama, the novel explores questions about love, the law, and the anxious precipice of life change. Is it ever too late to be swept away by romance? Can true justice ever be attained when the law’s practitioners are corrupt? And when your work is what defines you, what’s left after retirement?

During a week of surprises and abstruse events, Belinda sees the once presumed greatness of her life flicker as she forces the moment for her decision to a crisis.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS  BOOK

Belinda (The Raymond Hatcher Stories/Book Three) by Mark Zvonkovic is a story set in a Houston law firm as well as the stunning coastline of Baja California. I was glad getting to know Belinda with her feisty and determined personality. I like that she felt strong enough to fight the men in her firm instead of letting them walk over her. But then a part of her past shows up to follow her, adding a little more excitement to the story.

Mark Zvonkovic does an excellent job writing Belinda. I like the strong  characters he creates for his story and I enjoyed watching their development in the story, making the story flow easier. There are a lot of twist and turns that will throw you off on the story a bit, but they are a lot of fun and the story flows on. I think the mixed genre of law and romance works great for this story, and I think  Zvonkovic’s phenomenal writing is the reason for that. I have enjoyed this series, and look forward to more from this author in the future.

Spanning a ten-day period, The Narrows chronicles the personal and social challenges that took place during the cultural transformation of the 1970s.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

#iReadBookTours

Junior high teacher Larry Brown wants to help his cousin get out of a cult he is in but things didn’t go quite like the teacher expected. His cousin wasn’t so sure he wanted out of the cult as of then. Larry is wrapped up in all of the changes and challenges of the 1970’s, trying to figure his own life out while being concerned about his cousin and all of the cults he could soon be involved, because after all, the 1970’s is the decade of the cults, or so it always seemed to me.

I like the way Zvonkovic creates his characters and grows them in the story as it unfolds. I think the characters are very life like, playing their parts in the story well, making the plot flow smoothly and enjoyable. I enjoyed slipping back to the ’70’s for a while, refreshing my memories of what took place. And I learned a few things too while reading, especially about cults, which I knew next to nothing about. I do now have a better understanding of how and why they exist, and I find it sad that people resort to cults. Another interesting thing is, The Narrows spreads across only ten days, so it’s a pretty quick read, except I kept going back and re-reading parts so it took me longer. The Narrows is Book Two in The Raymond Hatcher Stories Series by Mark Zvonkovic, who I think is a very good writer. If you enjoy stories set in the 1970’s and want a story about the happenings in that era, I think you will enjoy this one. Five Stars is my Rating for The Narrows.

Category:  Adult Fiction (18+),  333 pages
Genre: Literary Fiction
Publisher:  Dos Perro Press
Release date:  August 2020

Book Description:

Set over the course of six decades, A Lion in the Grass documents the despair and hope of a spy who suffers the murder of friends and enjoys the success of mentoring protégés.

The story is told through alternative viewpoints of Raymond, his protégés, and the French villain. The novel digs deeply into questions of love, self-doubt and hatred, all foisted upon Raymond during a career from which, he discovers, it is impossible to retire.

MY THOUGHTS ON A LION IN THE GRASS

A Lion in the Grass (The Raymond Hatcher Stories/Book One) by Mark Zvonkovic is an interesting story that follows a spy, Raymond Hatcher over the course of six decades. The story is told from mostly Raymond’s point of view, but some of the other characters chimes in to tell their viewpoints as well. I like Raymond but sometimes I had a little problem connecting with him, but maybe because he was a spy and didn’t want anyone connecting with him.

The details of each scene throughout makes the story flow so much better, and the character’s are so realistic, especially when the story is dealing with real life issues. With a lot of the book I felt like I was right there feeling the story with the characters. The writing is phenomenal and I enjoyed the authors writing style, I just wasnt expecting the language that could have been calmed down a little or left out altogether. But that’s my point of view. This is a really good story and I look forward to reading the other two books in this series. A Lion in the Grass is a very well written spy story, and if spy stories is your thing, you will enjoy this one.
