The magical sisters are enrolled in an etiquette class when their manners are not fit for the king and queen of the enchanted land of Harmony. Can Elizabeth the Emu help the royal sisters?
In the beautiful and peaceful land of Harmony, three magical sisters, the Bobos Babes, uproot the kingdom’s tranquility with some
not-so-polite actions -nose-picking, belching, and other noisy…expulsions. Their parents, the King and Queen, enroll the sisters in the elegant Elizabeth the Emu’s etiquette class where they learn manners and other ways to self-improve like being on time, politeness, and proper personal hygiene.
Elizabeth the Emu explains to Angel Scarlet, Princess Daphne, and Fairy Cora that having proper etiquette is more than good manners, it’s about being kind and courteous. And for the sisters? Well, let’s just say that they will be needing more than one lesson from Elizabeth the Emu’s etiquette class.
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
THE ELEGANT EMU (a Harmony Adventure) by Karen M. Bobos is another sweet book for children to read. In this one, the three magical sisters need to enroll in an etiquette class because their manners are terrible in front of the King and Queen, and while there, they were able to learn a few more valuable lessons on life. But would these Bobos Princesses actually remember to do the things they learned? For me the worst things they did was burping and gas passing. Surely they now know that’s not the proper way to act around anyone, let alone the King and queen. I have to say this was a fun book to read, with the sisters and what uncommonly comes out of their mouth.
This is an amazing book for any child to read, because children pick up certain words or phrases, or maybe some bodily sounds or smells that are not the right way to act. So this is an exceptionally good way to teach your child some good etiquette. Karen M. Bobos does a phenomenal job in writing this book so children can well understand what she is saying. I love all of Bobos’ books and I think this one just might be my favorite. I encourage you to check this book out, and to also recommend it to your child’s classroom and school library as well as anyone public library. I think it is well worth your time. I am giving this one Five Stars.

The sisters can hardly wait, counting down the minutes on Halloween until they can don their curious masks. When the time comes, they learn their secret masks are enchanted, and the girls are magically transformed into the costumes of their dreams.
After a fun outing Trick-or-Treating, the little monster, witch, and ghost — or sisters — agree that this was the best Halloween of all.
BOBOS BABES ADVENTURES: A MAGICAL HALLOWEEN is the second book I’ve read by Karen M. Bobos, and both books have been a delight to read. A MAGICAL HALLOWEEN is about three Bobo’s friends and their new Halloween costumes for this year. But when they finally opened the box where the mask were in, they were sad that all three had a clear mask. Now everyone would see then, but then as they put their mask on, something magical happens. And you need to read the book to find out what it is.
A Magical Halloween is a perfect addition to the Bobo’s Babes collection. This is a must read for children everywhere as Halloween approaches in 2021. The rhyming story is exciting and fun and the illustrations are so very adorable. I love how each page perfectly fits the story. This book with illustrations bringing the story to life is five Stars for me. I know your children will love this as much as the children in my life do.

A Magical Halloween is your 4th published Bobos Babes Adventure. How long does it take you to write a Bobos Babes Adventure?
It depends. During the summer of 2020, my wellness business was at a standstill, so-to-speak, and I was writing to entertain my children. I wrote a book a week. Now that I am full speed ahead with book tours, YouTube videos, marketing campaigns, and launching a book every three to four months . . . and being a mom of three little girls, wife, running my wellness business and managing our home, I write when I can. Did I mention my husband is now working out of town during the week? Thank you, Covid. So, I’ll re-phrase that, “I am a single mom during the week.” I have been working on the same book for a couple of months. I desperately try to write once a week to feel like me. Writing is my therapy to feel normal.
Where do you write?
Everywhere. Right now, I am on my laptop watching my kids’ ice-skating lesson. I am a busy mom of three little girls under eight. I write while they are in school, gymnastics, eating
dinner… I get a lot done when I let them play on their tablets, but it’s a catch 22 as I try to manage their screen time. My dream, when I am retired, is to have a beautiful office overlooking a quiet lake or even overlooking a private beach on the ocean where I can write and do nothing else.
Do you have any pet peeves when reading a book?
Grammar. I’m obsessed with proper grammar. My bachelor’s degree is in English. I have a hard time reading stories to my children without noticing missing commas or lack of quotations when someone is speaking. I try hard to just “let it go.” I’m probably jinxing myself by writing this. Hopefully, my interview isn’t filled with grammatical errors. LOL
Do you wish you started writing sooner?
I’ve been writing forever. I started writing in fourth grade and had an amazing teacher who was sending in my work to the newspaper and magazines. However, my first book was published in December 2020. I am a firm believer that we are on a journey and things happen when they are supposed to happen. I wouldn’t have been able to write about my children until I had them. Their characters and personalities are based on who they are. Cora is swift because I
cannot keep up with her. Scarlett has angel skin because of her rare skin disease. Daphne is so silly and comforting. It all just fits and makes sense.
What advice would you give other authors?
The same advice that I give myself, “Don’t give up!” Just start writing, and try to stay focused. I always think, “At least my daughters will have these stories to remember how much mom loved them.”

Karen M. Bobos began writing poetry and stories at the early age of ten. She is a life-long Chicagoan who now raises her family in the downtown area. During the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic, Chicago also became a city of unrest. Trying to keep her three young daughters in a world of magic during such scary times, the Bobos Babes Adventures were born. Her goal was to create a world of Harmony for her family and hopefully for others to escape, even if only for a moment.
The first book of the series, The Case of the Giggles, was published in December 2020. The Missing Egg launched in March 2021. The Lion’s Secret was published in June 2021, a tribute to her mother and late father’s incredible love story. The Lovey That Came to Life and The Bobcat Birthday Party will be releasing in the upcoming months.

Wow those characters are a mouthful, but I love each one of them. Your child has a surprise in store for them when you read this precious book to them. I bet you won’t read it just once! I love the story as well and there’s even a bit if a mystery to it. It’s all so much fun.
I fell in love with the sweet characters in this book created by Illustrator Emily Hercock. The front cover is beautiful and will have children grabbing this book from the shelf first. The colors and so pretty, and the words on the pages and the pictures created work together so perfectly. This beautiful book would be great for your little girl’s library or it would be perfect for any younger children’s classrooms, or in daycare. I highly recommend this one and give it a Five Stars!
