Kissed by a Cowboy
by  Debra Clopton

Kissed by a CowboyAbout this book

Cassidy was looking for a home and a place to belong . . . not for a cowboy to steal her heart.

Having lived through her parents’ endless string of “matrimonial bliss gone wrong,” Cassidy Starr knows when the odds are not in her favor. Divorced and humiliated, her faith on rocky ground, Cassidy is through with love. She’s been bucked off that horse far too many times. Instead, she returns to Wishing Springs, Texas, and the rundown farm she’s inherited from her great aunt Roxie. She’ll reopen the strawberry farm and a bed & breakfast and follow in her aunt’s footsteps, remaining forever-independent, happy . . . and single.

Rancher Jarrod Monahan’s hands are full running the ranch, looking after his ailing grandfather, and chasing down a group of rustlers on the loose. He’s pushed his longing for a family to the bottom of his list of priorities. Besides, he was in love once but ran scared and lost his shot at happiness. But suddenly, the biggest regret of his life has moved in next door with a wounded heart, determined to become a spinster . . . and that’s a challenge that Jarrod can’t pass up.

Jarrod sets his mind to breaking down the walls around Cassidy’s stubborn heart. How can he show her that a cowboy’s kiss lasts forever? For the good folks of Wishing Springs, falling in love has never been so much fun to witness.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Jarrod Monahan was the last Monahan without a wife, so this was an enjoyable and sweet romance to read. But Jarrod wasn’t interested in a woman and married life, that is until old flame Cassidy Starr moved into the house near Jarrod. But Cassidy was finished with men, she wanted to make a life for herself, without a man in her life. But for whatever reason, the two seemed to always run into each other, and that’s when the attraction began.

I love the characters in this series, and it was nice taking a trip back Wishing Springs and the Four of Hearts Ranch. Jarrod was a quiet person, while Cassidy was a little spitfire. Their developing attraction and romance was fun to follow, even though the story was quite predictable. There are some twists and turns throughout the story that made the story interesting, and some quite funny. Over all, this is a really good read, and I highly recommend Kissed By a Cowboy, as well as the other books in this series. I am sad to see this series end, but I am excited to read more from Debra Clopton!

 Counting on Cowboys

by Debra Clopton

Counting on a CowboyCounting on a Cowboy (Thomas Nelson, August 2015)

After losing everything she held dear, Abby never wants to love again. But a certain cowboy may just spur her to wonder if love might be worth the risk.

Running from a past that haunts her, Abby Knightly is drawn to the cozy town of Wishing Springs, Texas. Maybe this small town could offer hope and healing and a future for Abby . . . if she’s brave enough to reach out and take it by the reins.

Bo Monahan isn’t interested in the new romantic destination his little town has become—or the women who might be looking at him like he’s their next Mr. Right. Between taking care of his Pops and his growing stirrup business, he isn’t looking for serious romantic commitments. But when the infant son he never knew about shows up at his doorstep, his world is turned upside down.

This confirmed bachelor might not think he needs a wife, but he sure needs help. Even Abby can see that, and despite her best efforts to keep her distance, she can’t help but be drawn to this new father-son duo. As Abby throws herself into helping Bo navigate fatherhood, hope sparks between them, revealing that maybe, just maybe, they can navigate their dark pasts and emerge together into a future as bright as the Texas sun itself.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Abby Knightly’s life came to an end as she knew it when her husband was killed in an auto accident, and Abby feels responsible. Not being about to live with what happened, Abby decides to move to a little town she had read about in a column in a newspaper. Circumstances caused her to meet Bo, one of three brothers that owned a ranch in the small town of Wishing Springs, Texas .

This story took a different turn than the first book in this series. Bo’s story didn’t come across as well as Tru’s for me. Bo seemed less responsible, more reckless and the little surprise that ended up on his pops doorstep confirms that. It just happened that Abby was there at the right time, which was ok with Bo because he needed all the help he could get. Even though I did enjoy the story, a young lady showing up in a small town, meeting a guy that has sworn off ladies, and all of a sudden were thrown together and everything else that happened within a few weeks just  wasn’t as believable as I would have liked. But then, that’s just me! All in all, I enjoyed the Monahan family again, and looking forward to reading book three! And by the way, Pops is just the sweetest old man, just adorable!

Betting on HopeBetting on Hope (Thomas Nelson, February 2015)

A bet gone wrong. A small town’s meddling. And a cowboy intent on saving his ranch.

Maggie Hope is an advice columnist whose background leaves her with little advice to give . . . and it’s beginning to show. When Maggie fills in at an interview with champion horse trainer Tru Monahan, the on-camera chemistry between them is undeniable. Maggie’s bosses know this is the opportunity she’s been looking for to launch her career—and their bank accounts. In order to save her column, Maggie takes Tru up on the bet that he can teach her to ride a quick-stepping cutting horse like any cowgirl, despite the fact competition circuit for longer than he’d like, but he knows it’s the only way he can afford to keep the Four of Hearts Ranch that means so much to his ailing grandfather. So when his sponsors see the opportunity for Tru’s fans to get to know the star on a more intimate level, he knows he must oblige. To his dismay, Maggie not only invades his small town of Wishing Springs, but she also invades his heart, and that is something he cannot let any woman do—for her own good.

In Wishing Springs, Maggie finds what she has always been looking for: a community and a home. But when her past catches up to her, it threatens everything, even the tender hope that this town holds all of her heart’s desires.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is my first book by Debra Clopton and I just loved it!! It is a fun and interesting story. I love Maggie and her personality. And Tru is just an every woman’s man! The thing that makes the story so interesting is that both Maggie and Tru are so determined that they are only doing their job, no attractions flashing anywhere, just doing what they are getting paid to do. And it all seems to keep blowing up in their face. I bet that little question “you wanna bet” will never mean the same to these two again!

This cowboy story will have you wanting to reach through the pages of the book and shaking these two young people! They are both so hard headed and Maggie is so blind she just doesn’t realize that she is with the heartthrob of America! I very much enjoyed the details of cowboys and their activities on the ranch, and how Tru taught city girl Maggie how to ride a horse, when she was so afraid of them. The entire story is just a winner for me. I can’t wait for more cowboy stories from this author! And I really want to encourage you to pick up a copy of Betting on Hope for your enjoyment.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Four Weddings & A Kiss is four Novella’s written by four of my favorite authors, Mary Connealy, Margaret Brownley, Robin Lee Hatcher, and Debra Clopton has written four outstanding romances to make up this wonderful book. I love them all, they are all so wonderful I can’t pick one favorite. I n each story, the young lady seems to be thrown into a situation she doesn’t want to be in, making adding an intriguing twist to each couple’s tale. I laughed a while and sniffed a while as I read each story, a story of love, acceptance and forgiveness. Can you pick a favorite? Check out Four Weddings & a Kiss and see what you think!

Mary Connealy is the author ofSpitfire Sweetheart and boy is Maisy a spitfire! And a boyish one at that. But what happens when she cleans up and puts on a dress? Well find out about this little spitfire as she tries to take care of the stubborn rancher Rylan Carstens while he is bedridden after an accident.

A Love Letter to the Editor is written by author Robin Lee Hatcher    which features Molly Everton, who writes the most popular features of their small town newspaper.  But Molly is shocked to find out that she doesn’t get the job of editor, instead it goes to Jack. And Molly is definitely not happy about that! Imagine what will happen between Molly and Jack as he takes over his new job and Molly stays at her old one!

Cowboy stories are always fun and exciting and especially A Cowboy for Katie by Debra Clopton   and this is Katie and Treb’s interesting story are Treb helps Katie after a tornado almost ruins her ranch.

And last but not least is Courting Trouble by Margaret BrownleyI have grown to love Margaret Brownley’s books the last few years that I have been reading them. I love their fun and humorous nature. And Ms. Brownley didn’t disappoint here. You are sure to laugh and enjoy Grace and Brock as he tries to free Grace from her troubles.
