ABOUT THIS BOOK
Tom has spent most of his life locked behind the cruel walls of walls of Weatherly Orphanage, but when he learns that his parents might still be alive, Tom knows he must do what he can to find them. He can’t leave Weatherly without his best friend Sarah, so armed with a single clue to his past, the word Britfield, the two make a daring escape by commandeering a hot air balloon. Now they’re on the run from a famous Scotland Yard detective and what looks like half the police officers in England. Tom and Sarah’s journey takes them from Oxford University to Windsor Castle, through London, and finally to Canterbury. Along the way, they discover that Tom may be the true heir to the British throne, but even with the help of two brilliant professors, it looks like Tom and Sarah will be captured and sent back to the orphanage before they have a chance to solve Tom’s Royal mystery.
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
I usually don’t read a lot of YA books, but this one sounded interesting and since I love beautiful and interesting book covers, this one drew me in. The first few chapters are not so appealing, as they talk about the orphanage Tom has lived in n most of his life. But when he finds out his parents may be alive, the exciting journey begins. And all Tom can remember is Britfield. But back at the orphanage, things are in an uproar and they must find the two runaways asap.
This is a story you will not soon forget. I enjoyed the trip around England with these two characters, with a few twists and turns along the way. And sometimes it was a bit more scary than fun, but that’s the beauty of a well written book because it make you want to keep reading. I grew to love Tom and Sarah, and was wanting to do whatever I could to help them, but it being a book, I couldn’t, sigh. A lot of other characters popped up in this book, with all of Tom and Sarah’s travels, they met a lot of people. And some were likeable, some we not! But they all fit so well as they told this story, each character was needed to finish this story.
If you have tweens and teens, this is a book I highly recommend. Some have even suggested reading this to your younger children, which is a fantastic idea!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Born in Newport Beach, California, C.R. Stewart is a prolific writer with twenty years of experience writing fiction, nonfiction, and movie screenplays. In addition, he is a highly respected producer, international consultant, and prominent speaker. He received a Bachelor of Arts in British Literature and European History from Brown University; did post-graduate work at Harvard University; earned an MBA from Boston College; and is pursuing a Master of Science in Advanced Management and a PhD in Strategy at Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management, Claremont Graduate University. Now based in San Diego, he is a strong supporter of education and the arts. C.R. enjoys writing, world travel, reading, riding, swimming, sailing, and tennis. Concerning his first novel for middle grade readers, he said, “I came up with the idea for Britfield and the Lost Crown while sitting in a boring meeting, doodling a picture of a hot air balloon!”
