MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I just love this book. Each story is so sweet and special and there is no way I would pick a favorite? I mean, Karen Witemeyer, Connealy, Regina Jennings and Carol Cox are for of my top rated authors so I knew every story had to be top rated! And I love having a book with four novella’s because sometimes you just don’t have time for a full book.

Each of these stories turn out to be a beautiful love story. Though the couples don’t know it for a while. I enjoyed the matchmaking and the journey of each of these four couples. The all make for a Heartwarming read. If you don’t have time to read a big book at this time, check this one out. Or if you are like me and just need a shorter story for a while, this us an amazing one to check out!

Author: Mary Connealy

Genre: Christian Historical Romance

Release Date: October 2, 2019

Josephine Nordegren is one of three sisters who grew up nearly wild in southwestern Colorado. She has the archery skills of Robin Hood and the curiosity of the Little Mermaid, fascinated by but locked away from the forbidden outside world–a world she’s been raised to believe killed her parents. When David Warden, a rancher, brings in a herd much too close to the girls’ secret home, her older sister is especially frightened, but Jo is too interested to stay away.

David’s parents follow soon on his heels, escaping bandits at their ranch. But his father is wounded and needs shelter. Josephine and her sisters have the only cabin on the mountain. Do they risk stepping into the world to help those in need? Or do they remain separated but safe in the peaks of Hope Mountain?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I have always been a fan of Mary Connealy books and with this one, she has written something very different. And I love it! I could never imagine 3 young ladies living their entire lives on a mountain, never going down that mountain to meet anyone else. And living off of the mountain land. And add to that, they know nothing about real life. But that is what this book is about. And you really need to read it to know what happens.

This is such an enjoyable read. The three Nordegren young ladies are very different, Ursula was a loner and afraid of everything, Jo was more adventurous, and Ilsa was sweet and loveable. But they all had amazing skills to survive. But when the Warden family moves to the mountain, life was more interesting. And there is a lot if humor throughout the books from the three sisters because they had no idea what the Wardens were talking about most of the time. I grew to love these characters, and the sweet family they all became. All except the Ursula that is. The awesome plot kept me reading, but I didn’t want this book to end. Being in a place without the worries of the world was so peaceful, it just didn’t last long enough. I can’t wait for the second book in this series.

A copy of this book was given to me by the author or publisher. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions here in this review are totally mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

More from Mary

What it would do to someone to run wild from nearly their earliest memory?

What if three young girls had the basic skills to survive a rugged life but no adults to guide them?

Would they grow up to be a completely odd and untamed version of themselves, or the truest, in some ways most honest version?

I wanted to explore that idea: wild children, tough young women, afraid of the invading world, but lonely, too. So I created the plot for my Brides of Hope Mountain series by mixing the three little girls who’d grown up wild on the top of a mountain with some fairy tale ideas.

Book one, Aiming for Love, is Josephine Nordegren’s story. I had this vision of Ariel the mermaid seeing a man for the first time when strangers invade the high valley she lives in with only her two sisters. Curiosity is her besetting sin, or so she’s always been told. She has wilderness skills, mainly in the form of owning a bow and arrow and understanding wild animals, but for the first time, she is drawn to a man.

Jo needs to be tamed, or Dave, the man she can’t stop watching from in the woods, needs to learn the ways of the wild, because they’re out of place in each other’s worlds.

ABOUT THE BOOK

9781493417209 Title: The Unexpected
Series: High Sierra Sweethearts, Book 3
 Author: Mary Connealy
 Publisher: Bethany House Publishers
 Release Date: March 5, 2019
 Genre: Historical Romance / Western

They’re as Different as Could Be.

But They’ll Need to Trust Each Other to Survive
the Wilderness . . . and the Dangers Chasing Them.

City dweller John McCall never expected to be out in the High Sierras of 1868 on a wild-goose chase to find the Chiltons’ supposedly lost grandson. But now that he’s out here, things have gotten even more complicated, mostly due to wildcat Penny Scott. She’s not like any woman he’s ever met–comfortable in the woods, with a horse, and with a gun.

When Penny and John are taken against their will by a shadowy figure looking for evidence they don’t have, both realize they’ve stumbled into something dangerous. With their friends and family desperately searching for them, Penny and John must make a daring escape.

When they emerge back into the real world, they discover their kidnapper just won’t stop. This city man and country woman must bring a powerful, ruthless man to justice, all while fighting a very inconvenient attraction to each other. John wasn’t expecting anything from this wild land but the retrieve a lost grandson, which happens to be someone Penny will protect with everything she can.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Put a city slicker and a wild mountain woman together and you have Penny and John. And when they are kidnapped together, they find a way to escape, so now they are in the middle of the High Sierras running for thei life.

This is such an amazing read. Penny and John were  completely different people but they fit together so well. And the other characters were so well developed and they were such nice people, and so well written I feel like I have a new family as friends! I enjoyed the history throughout the book, it gives readers the feeling of being there and living the story with the characters. And I can’t leave out the beautiful cover of this book! It’s beautiful and fits the story well. One other thing is the way Mary Connealy weaves the Christian live into her characters. And she does it in such a subtle way, it just feels right, and it doesn’t stand out in the story.  I just love everything about this book! And you need to read it to find out everything going on! The Unexpected Champion is Book three in the series. I didn’t read books one and two but you need to read them together. I read this for a review, so I plan to read them all in order next week! It will be a treat! I highly recommend this book to anyone, but if you are a historical fiction buff, then you will love this one!

I received this book from JustReads Tours to read and review. I was not required to write al positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal  Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

Litfuse Presents….

Tried and True

by Mary Connealy

Tried and TrueTried and True, Book One in the Wilde at Heart series.

Saddle up for a wildly fun ride with the Wilde sisters!

Kylie Wilde is the youngest sister–and the most civilized. Her older sisters might be happy dressing in trousers and posing as men, but Kylie has grown her hair long and wears skirts every chance she gets. It’s a risk–they are homesteading using the special exemptions they earned serving in the Civil War as “boys”–but Kylie plans to make the most of the years before she can sell her property and return to the luxuries of life back East.

Local land agent Aaron Masterson is fascinated with Kylie from the moment her long hair falls from her cap. But now that he knows her secret, can he in good conscience defraud the U.S. government? And when someone tries to force Kylie off her land, does he have any hope of convincing her that marrying him and settling on the frontier is the better option for her future?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Three sisters are trying to make their father happy and claim land out west, land that their dad wants. So they all dress in britches, make themselves look and act like men, and they have been doing a pretty good job of it. And the neat thing is, they all served in the Civil War as boys, and never got caught. But when Land agent Aaron Masterson crosses paths with Kylie Wilde, her secret it out. No way was she going to fool Masterson! Which means she will have to give up her land, because women can’t claim land! But Masterson didn’t realize the can or worms he has opened with his discovery. Ms. Wilde doesn’t give in easily!

Mary Connealy writes such enjoyable books! Tried and True is a really interesting and entertaining story. I love the realistic characters and the humor throughout the book. The three young ladies were adorable, and anyone reading this book will want to find out what happens to them!

I received this book from Litfuse to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Four Weddings & A Kiss is four Novella’s written by four of my favorite authors, Mary Connealy, Margaret Brownley, Robin Lee Hatcher, and Debra Clopton has written four outstanding romances to make up this wonderful book. I love them all, they are all so wonderful I can’t pick one favorite. I n each story, the young lady seems to be thrown into a situation she doesn’t want to be in, making adding an intriguing twist to each couple’s tale. I laughed a while and sniffed a while as I read each story, a story of love, acceptance and forgiveness. Can you pick a favorite? Check out Four Weddings & a Kiss and see what you think!

Mary Connealy is the author ofSpitfire Sweetheart and boy is Maisy a spitfire! And a boyish one at that. But what happens when she cleans up and puts on a dress? Well find out about this little spitfire as she tries to take care of the stubborn rancher Rylan Carstens while he is bedridden after an accident.

A Love Letter to the Editor is written by author Robin Lee Hatcher    which features Molly Everton, who writes the most popular features of their small town newspaper.  But Molly is shocked to find out that she doesn’t get the job of editor, instead it goes to Jack. And Molly is definitely not happy about that! Imagine what will happen between Molly and Jack as he takes over his new job and Molly stays at her old one!

Cowboy stories are always fun and exciting and especially A Cowboy for Katie by Debra Clopton   and this is Katie and Treb’s interesting story are Treb helps Katie after a tornado almost ruins her ranch.

And last but not least is Courting Trouble by Margaret BrownleyI have grown to love Margaret Brownley’s books the last few years that I have been reading them. I love their fun and humorous nature. And Ms. Brownley didn’t disappoint here. You are sure to laugh and enjoy Grace and Brock as he tries to free Grace from her troubles.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Rollicking Wild West Adventure and Romance from Bestselling Author Mary Connealy

Dare Riker is a doctor who saves lives, but someone seems determined to end his. It may have something to do with the traitors he dealt with during the Civil War, or it might be related to the recent incident with Flint Greer and the ranch. Whoever the culprit is, he or she seems really fired up, and Dare can’t let his guard down for a moment, which is a challenge, since right now he’s trying to win the heart of the recently widowed Glynna.

Glynna Greer came west as a mail-order bride and ended up in a bad situation. Now her husband, Flint, is dead, and she’s determined to care for her son and daughter on her own. She wants to believe Dare Riker is as decent as he seems, but she’s terrified to lock herself into another marriage. She plans to support her small family by opening a diner–never mind that cooking is not her greatest talent. The men in Broken Wheel, Texas, are so desperate for home cooking that they seem willing to overlook dried-out beef and blackened biscuits.

Glynna can’t help but notice that danger follows Dare wherever he goes. There’s the avalanche. And then the fire. But things really get out of hand when someone plunges a knife from Glynna’s diner into Dare’s back. Are Flint’s cronies still plotting revenge? Is Glynna’s son engaged in a misguided attempt to protect his mother? Is a shadowy outsider still enraged over past injustices? And can Dare survive long enough to convince Glynna to take another chance on love?

ABOUT THE BOOK

When a cowboy focused on revenge encounters a woman determined to distract him, there’s going to be trouble in Texas!

Swept away when her wagon train attempts a difficult river crossing, Ruthy MacNeil isn’t terribly upset at being separated from the family who raised her. All they’ve ever done is work her to the bone. Alive but disoriented, she’s rescued by Luke Stone…so unfortunately, there are more chances to die in her immediate future.

Luke is on a mission to reclaim the ranch stolen from his family. But the men currently on the property won’t let it go without a fight. Luke plans to meet up with friends who will help him take back the land, and since he can’t just leave Ruthy in the middle of nowhere, she’s going to have to go with him.

But the more time Luke spends around the hardworking young woman, the more he finds himself thinking of things besides revenge. Will Ruthy convince him to give up his destructive path and be swept away by love?

If you would like to read the first chapter of Swept Away, go HERE.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Swept Away is a wonderful, interesting historical fiction that I thoroughly enjoyed. Mary Connealy writes another great cowboy historical fiction with characters that you are sure to fall in love with. Well most of them anyway! Ruthy was a sweet girl that had been awfully mistreated by the couple who took her in after her parents died, as well as this couple’s son. After the river accident, Ruthy is now on her own, and she really doesn’t miss the former family she was living with. Ruthy was found by Luke Stone while on the way to reclaim his father’s ranch. A ranch that was wrongly taken from his father.

There is a lot of stuff going on with the plot in this story, making Swept Away interesting and exciting enough to keep the interest of readers until the very end. If you enjoy cowboy stories, with a little suspense and thrills, you will enjoy this one. I highly recommend that you pick up your copy soon!

Seth Kincaid survived a fire in a cave, but he’s never been the same. He was always a reckless youth, but now he’s gone over the edge. He ran off to the Civil War and came back crazier than ever.

After the war, nearly dead from his injuries, it appears Seth got married. Oh, he’s got a lot of excuses, but his wife isn’t happy to find out Seth doesn’t remember her. Callie has searched, prayed, and worried. Now she’s come to the Kincaid family’s ranch in Colorado to find her lost husband.

Callie isn’t a long-suffering woman. Once she knows her husband is alive, she wants to kill him. She’s not even close to forgiving him for abandoning her.

Then more trouble shows up in the form of a secret Seth’s pa kept for years. The Kincaid brothers might lose their ranch if they can’t sort things out. It’s enough to drive a man insane–but somehow it’s all making Seth see things more clearly. And now that he knows what he wants, no one better stand in his way.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

After reading the first two books in this series, I was anxious to read “Over the Edge,” and glad to finally read Seth’s story. Though it ended up kind of crazy, with Seth not remembering much about his life and family. He and Callie find themselves back together and thus the journey of Seth begins.

One thing I love about Mary Connealy’s books is that when I start reading them, I can’t put them down, and that is just what happened with this one. I love the characters, and especially Callie and the whit and life she brought into the lives of this family. And knowing Seth in a new and different way, the interesting situations between he and Callie brought a special meaning for this book.

Storytelling at its best is a good way to describe this book, as well as the entire series, The Kincaid Brides. I highly encourage you to grab a copy of this book, or the three books in this series for your reading enjoyment. You will not be disappointed!

ABOUT THE BOOK

In 1866 Colorado, Ethan Kincaid agrees to a marriage of convenience with the same casual disregard he gives every decision. Audra Gilliland, young mother of two, accepts his proposal because she wants to stop being a burden to her newly married stepdaughter. And suddenly both of them are in far deeper than they’d planned.

Ethan doesn’t expect Audra to affect him so profoundly, and when she begins to, he’s terrified of the pain he’s felt before when someone he loved was seriously injured on his watch. He’s determined that his new wife will do as he says so he can keep her safe from the dangers that lurk on their ranch. Audra has been cared for all her life by one man or another–and they’ve done a poor job of it. Now she’s planning to stand up for herself. And her new husband had better agree or get out of her way!

What will it take to transform two wayward hearts fearful of getting in too deep into two trusting hearts ready to risk falling deeply in love?

My Thoughts on this book!

In To Deep  by Mary Connealy

I have been waiting for this book since I read Book One in the Kincaid Bride series. This book follows Ethan Kincaid and his marriage of convenience to Audra Gilliland. Ethan starts having feelings for his new bride and determines to protect her and the children. But this may be a problem because Audra isn’t too very happy with the say the men in her previous life has treated her, so she’s determined to take things into her own hands. This could make things very interesting in the Kincaid household.

Again Mary Connealy writes an intriguing story full of adventures with the characters we grew to love in the first book of this series. You just gotta love Ethan’s personality, he’s just one of those loveable guys everyone wants to be around. And they way he is so protective over his family is so very touching. We grow to love Audra as well, though she seems more reserved because of the difficulty she has been through.

You will love this wonderful historical fiction, so run and grab a copy for you to read and enjoy. And while you are at it, why not pick up a copy of  the first book in this series, “Out of Control.” You are sure to be in for an awesome read with these two book in your hands. And oh, don’t you just love Ethan on the cover of the book? He’s adorable!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Julia Gilliland has always been interested in the natural world around her. She particularly enjoys her outings to the cavern near her father’s homestead, where she explores for fossils and formations, and plans to write a book about her discoveries. The cave seems plenty safe–until the day a mysterious intruder steals the rope she uses to find her way out.

Rafe Kincaid has spent years keeping his family’s cattle ranch going, all without help from his two younger brothers, who fled the ranch–and Rafe’s controlling ways–as soon as they were able. He’s haunted by one terrible day at the cave on a far-flung corner of the Kincaid property, a day that changed his life forever. Ready to put the past behind him, he plans to visit the cave one final time. He sure doesn’t expect to find a young woman trapped in one of the tunnels–or to be forced to kiss her!

Rafe is more intrigued by Julia than any woman he’s ever known, but how can he overlook her fascination with the cave he despises? And when his developing relationship with Julia threatens his chance at reconciliation with his brothers, will he be forced to choose between the family bonds that could restore his trust and the love that could heal his heart?

My Review

Out Of Control….by Mary Connealy….CFBA Tours

Julia and Ralph meet under unusual circumstances, in a cave. Not accustomed to having women around, Ralph was infatuated with Julia, but she was so horrified from being in the cave so long she seemed mysterious to Ralph. Why was she here close to his ranch when he had no neighbors? And a woman at that! Join Ralph and Julia as their story unfolds including Julia and her family and the Kincaid brothers.

I found this story so very sweet and romantic with Julia and Ralph and even Audra and Ethan, even with the unusual situations involved. I love the characters of these four, and Seth was a sweetheart! The Kincaid boys were just what Audra and Julia needed because they seemed to be able to fix any situation, almost.

I didn’t care for Wendell, or whatever his name was, but I don’t think he was a likable person to anyone because of his mean, cruel, pathetic attitude. He did make the story interesting, making you want him to be caught and have to suffer for how he treated his women.

I would encourage anyone that likes Historical fiction to go out and buy a copy of this book to read, and this is the first book of The Kincaid Brides, so watch out for Book #2 Into the Deep. You will love following the handsome and very helpful Kincaid brothers and see how they do everything possible to help these ladies.
