ABOUT THIS BOOK
Tired of running from her past, nurse Kate Callison intends to become Austin Grace Hospital’s permanent ER director and make Texas her home. Despite staff friction, she’s moving ahead. Then unthinkable tragedy wraps the ER in crime tape, brings swarms of media, legal chaos . . . and a search-and-rescue hero who seems determined to meddle in her life.
For Wes Tanner, nothing beats finding someone who’s lost; he’s known that helpless terror firsthand. That’s why he’s determined to extend a lifeline of hope to others as a search-and-rescue volunteer. He’s ready for anything—except Austin Grace’s prickly and dismissive ER director.
As Kate and Wes discover more about each other, new respect becomes something deeper. Kate wonders if her heart might finally have found a home. But when a startling missing person’s case unearths secrets and opens old wounds, she fears that all they’ve found will just as quickly be lost.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Kate Callison has been running from her past and jumping jobs for several years, and now she is working as ER director at Austin Grace Hospital. As different cases came through the ER department, memories of Kate’s past surfaced more and more. Wes Tanner was at the right place at the right time when an emergency happened at Austin Grace, but then he met the new ER director, Kate. Wes finds himself attracted to Kate, despite her dismissive attitude, but just how does Kate feel about Wes?
I am a big fan of Candace Calvert and Rescue Team is another Candace book that I LOVE! I love books that capture my attention early in the story, and this one had my attention from the first page! I wasn’t sure about Kate at first, with her attitude and the mystery of her past, but as the story unfolded, I could understand her attitude about life. And I love Wes, he is such a sweetheart, and I love his family. But he has a heartbreaking past as well, that he doesn’t want to talk about. Ms. Calvert weaves together a story of heartbreaking pasts, through many difficult situations and twists and turns, and so vividly shows love, forgiveness and healing through God’s love and mercy in Wes and Kate’s story.
If you enjoy Christian fiction, or just want a good clean medical romance to read, I highly recommend Rescue Team. With Candace being a former nurse, the medical knowledge is phenomenal, making the story even more interesting and enjoyable.
I received this book from Tyndale House to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Former ER nurse, wife, Mom and proud grandmother, Candace Calvert believes that love, laughter, and faith are the best medicines. Her popular medical fiction offers charismatic characters, pulse-pounding drama, romance, humor, suspense–and a prescription for hope. Think, “Grey’s Anatomy finds its soul.” She is . . .
A Northern California native who spent several years in Hill Country Texas–where she learned to check her shoes for scorpions and plucked an armadillo from her swimming pool. Thinks cruising is the best way to travel: honeymooned in Venice, swam with stingrays, rode a camel at the pyramids, and sang (badly) with a Newfoundland country band. She’s passionate about cooking, loves bird watching, gardening, and gets goose bumps when her handsome husband hits the low notes at karaoke. She writes inspirational fiction because . . .
God blessed her with a quirky wit, buoyant optimism, and a contagious sense of fun–but she didn’t come to know him until after the Triple Whammy that turned her life into a bad country song. A painful and unexpected divorce, the Northern California floods of 1997, and (just when she was coping like a champ, no problem) an equestrian accident that left her with fractured ribs, a bleeding lung, broken back, neck fractures and a spinal cord injury. She’ll tell you that God took drastic measures to get her attention.
In the months of rehabilitation, Candace healed in body and spirit. And came to fully understand the difference between being a strong woman and a woman of strength. The difference is faith, and that lesson has been her biggest blessing. Her story, “By Accident,” appears in Chicken Soup for the Nurse’s Soul, and launched her writing career. Now . . .
She is honored to bring readers medical fiction that offers exciting entertainment and a healthy dose of hope.
