MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

In Nursery Rhymes for Kinder Times® by Pam Gittleman, readers will find the old Nursery Rhymes we have all read down through the years just a little bit different. Gittleman has changed these Rhymes to where they will sound a little more gentle than the original ones. I loved following the Three Kind Mice around throughout the book, telling their story. And the sub-title is a valuable lesson that you will see throughout the book: Helping to Raise Kind Kids, One Rhyme at a Time! This is something that needs focusing on with everything we do. As for my honest opinion here, a few of these Rhymes didn’t turn out so well for me, they just didnt connect with me. But this is just my opinion. It’s the children we think of, and I can see a class full of little ones wanting this book read to them over and over.

Along with the Nursery Rhymes with a special twist is the beautiful illustrations throughout this book by the fabulous Dan and Catherine Markowitz. Each Nursery Rhyme has its own unique creations that fit perfectly. I look forward to reading more books where the artwork is created by this couple. This book is a Four and a half Stars one for me. I encourage teachers, parents, and anyone around children to check out this book.

Meet the Author:

Pam has been an early childhood music educator for over twenty-five years with a passion for singing, rhyming, reading stories, and making music with preschoolers.

When Pam noticed that some children seemed unfamiliar with traditional nursery rhymes, and that parents and teachers were avoiding them because of their outdated, dark, and inappropriate nature, she set out to modernize them. Nursery Rhymes for Kinder Times® provides a memorable way to build language, musicality, and literacy through songs, stories and rhymes that nurture kindness, empathy, and gratitude. The inclusion of resources that support social and emotional learning (SEL) make it easy for parents and teachers to engage with the children they love.

The rhymes in the book can also be enjoyed as songs on the Nursery Rhymes for Kinder Times album recorded by Raffi and Lindsay Munroe, as well as in videos on the Nursery Rhymes for Kinder Times® Show on YouTube. (www.linktr.ee.com/forkindertimes)

Aside from making music with young children, Pam loves dogs and dark chocolate. She lives in New York with her husband, and loves when her children, grandchildren, and granddogs come to visit!
