MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I have read several books by Kari Bovee and have loved them, and this was is possible her best read yet. Grace has her hands full with so many different jobs she has on her plate, I think possibly the young somewhat fiesty beautiful young girl she has taken in to hopefully use the horses on their ranch to help her and keep her out of trouble. But it seems her beauty and personality gets her into more trouble than ever. I love the horse ranch setting and troubled teens. The vivid details about the costumes Grace is in charge of for the films, Bovée does amazing research before writing this book. The history is so deep and I found myself emerged in all of the history here. The elements of foster homes is touched here, and my heart goes out to Grace as she strives to continue her search for her sister’s murderer. Added to Grace’s sister’s murder she is now faced with the murder mystery that plaques them now, and believe me, this will all keep your mind spinning until the very last page. Bovée has written an excellent story in her unique professional way that will stay with readers until her next book. There is so much going on in this book, and add the texts and turns Bove throws in and wow! This is one you don’t want to miss. With a mixture of historical fiction and adding in the murder mystery and everything taking place. I think you are sure to love this one. And I am surely giving Grace in Hollywood Five Stars and I really wish I could give it more! Go put now and get your copy!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Alicia Connected: The Big Gift by Derek Fisher is a really good book teaching children and teens alike about the safety of the internet. I think it is a clever way to tech this young age by using one of their very own. As Alicia tells the story, you child is more likely to listen than if we as parents tell this story. Fisher cuts to the chase as he not only explains but give examples of the new gadgets called tablets, phones, ipods and other gadgets I don’t know about. His warnings are firm but he also introduces them to this new way of life. We may not like it as parents, but this is a while new world for our kids. I want them to know and understand the fun things, yet be aware of the bad part of the internet as well.

If you have children old enough for a smartphone or tablet, this would be an excellent book for your child’s library. And since this is all taught in early, young classes, I believe the classrooms could benefit greatly to have this book on hand. This would make a wonderful gift for your child’s classroom. And if you are like me and don’t have small children. Buy a copy or two and donate it to the school closest to you. And oh, I almost forgot about the amazing illustrations here in this book. Heather Workman does a fabulous job creating illustrations to go perfectly well with each page in this book. I love her detail to each character, especially those adorable facial expressions. The vivid colors and well, everything expressions in the book fit perfectly well together. And a big thanks to the editor, Kim Burger for making sure this book was perfect for our reading. This one is Five Stars for me!

Now join me with an interview with Derek Fisher

Do you have another profession besi des writing?

I am an adjunct instructor at Temple University where I teach a course in secure software development. I am also a vice president at a financial organization where I help protect the software that we develop. Both experiences have provided me opportunities to learn about the different issues that impact users of technology which has helped me write this book.

How long have you been writing?

Although this is the first book that I’ve published, I was one of the few students in school that was happy about writing research papers. I enjoyed the process of researching and putting ideas to paper. However, I did write a few simple stories when I was younger. The one I remember the most is “The man who loved hot dogs”. I even illustrated it myself.

What is the last great book you’ve read?

I tend to read a lot throughout the year and I try to alternate between books for work as well as books for pleasure. The books that I seem to enjoy the most are the ones about wide open spaces and about individuals pushing themselves. I’ve read a few in the past few years about hiking the Appalachian trail or setting out on adventures in Alaska. However, if you look at my reading history, many of the books are history books. I am a lover of history so I’ve read as much as I can about events and individuals throughout history.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?

Being a fan of history, I would have loved to have lived during the early 1900’s when many of the big inventions were being introduced. Electricity, vehicles, some of the big architecture and construction projects were underway. It was a time when everything seemed possible. I’m sure that in 100 years, people may say the same about the period we’re in now.

Any hobbies you like to do.

I am an amateur gardener. I enjoy taking seeds early in the year and being able to baby them until they produce fruits and vegetables. It’s a very calming hobby and takes my mind off of work with the added benefit of some fresh food occasionally.
