What if it’s too late for dreams to come true?

Minor-but-nagging setbacks continue to sour Grant and Audrey Whitman’s initiation into the world of innkeeping, but larger challenges brew when an innocent flirtation leads to big trouble for the Whitmans’ son-in-law, Jesse. Jesse Pennington’s friendly, outgoing personality has always served him well, especially in a career that has earned him and his wife Corinne a very comfortable lifestyle. But Corinne and Jesse are both restless—and for similar reasons, if only they could share those with each other. Instead, too many business trips and trumped-up charges of harassment from a disgruntled coworker threaten their marriage and possibly put their three precious daughters at risk.

With their life in disarray, God is tugging at their hearts to pursue other dreams. Can Corinne and Jesse pick up the pieces of what was once a wonderful life before it all crumbles beneath them?

This was another really good read from Deborah Raney. After reading book 1 in this series, I was anxious to read this one, and it sure didn’t disappoint! This story focused on Jesse and Corinne and their ups and downs with life. Jesse seems to be feeling trapped into his job in order to afford the huge house and expensive lifestyle that his wife Corinne so wants. It is when Jesse’s overly friendly personality lands him into a scam at the office with a fellow female worker that everything comes to surface.

For some reason, I just didn’t like Corinne. Her high and mighty attitude and expensive lifestyle just didn’t sit well with me. Some of the remarks she made were really selfish, one being that living in a 1600 or 1800 or so square feet house, she thinks that is like living in poverty. I guess living in a house small than that all of my life just hit the wrong bell with me. She finally gets better, but I wonder what she will be like in the next book. Don’t take me wrong, I loved the story, the details of the close family life, just the one character that irked me! It was fun to continue the story of the Whitman family. I really love and associate with the older Whitmans, as the family is now grown and on their own. And I am look forward to book three in this series! Wonder what Ms. Raney will have for us next

The Innocent is another well-crafted tale from the pen of Ann H. Gabhart. With characters that will steal your heart, Gabhart introduces a desperate young heroine who seeks safety among the Shakers during the post-Civil War era and a sheriff determined to come to her aid. A rich and rewarding read you won’t want to miss!”Judith Miller, award-winning author of Refined by Love series

Gabhart is the bestselling author of several Shaker novels–The Outsider, The Believer, The Seeker, The Blessed, and The Gifted–as well as Angel Sister, Small Town Girl, Love Comes Home, Words Spoken True, and The Heart of Hollyhill series. After hearing that her husband was missing in action, Carlyn Kearney had no where to turn but to the Shaker community for help. Her house was being taken away because of non payment, she had no idea when here husband would be home, or if he would. But in the shaker community, Carlyn finds out that things are not just as they seem in this community of people who are bound to their belief’s.

Every time I read about the Shaker’s, I find it hard to believe that people would actually believe as they do. But in Carlyn’s case in this story, I can understand why she would turn to this group of people. She had no choice. She had no one, no money, and no way to make any money to pay for her land, and upkeep her house. Or for that matter, to feed herself. She did go in with the right attitude though, only going through the motions of their belief’s. Sounds just like something I would do in that situation.

This is a really wonderful read. Ann Gabhart is a master storyteller and her books are full of interesting characters, storylines and detailed information. Just as it is in The Innocent. As I was reading this story, I felt like the characters were so real, I would get aggravated at some, cry at times, feel the tensions as the scenes unfolded, and laughed at times as the details were so vivid and real. And no one writes about the Shakers like Ann Gabhart. She knows their ways and knows how to write them in a story that makes it happen! I don’t want to say a lot more about the storyline, because it will give too much info, and ruin it for you. Just know that this is a book that you don’t want to miss!

Her Brothers Keeper

Charlotte came to Amish country to find answers. What she never expected to find was peace.

Charlotte Dolinsky is not above playing dress-up and telling a few lies to find out what happened to her only brother. In fact, that is exactly what she’s come to Lancaster County to do. Now, calling herself Mary and slipping on a kapp, Charlotte will lie her way into the confidence of anyone who knows why Ethan had to die. Unless she gets found out first.

But when Charlotte befriends a quiet Amish man named Isaac Miller, she begins to rethink her motives. And with a little help from a friend back home, Charlotte might find out that love comes packaged in ways she couldn’t have foreseen.

Isaac’s been caring for his cancer-stricken father and sympathizing with his frustrated mother for three difficult years. And that means he hasn’t been dating. He believes Hannah King is the woman for him, but Hannah is still grieving the loss of her fiancé, and Isaac has all he can handle on the farm. When Hannah’s family plays host to a woman named Mary, their new cousin shakes things up for all of them.

As Charlotte digs deeper into the mystery of Ethan’s death, she finds more than she’d bargained for in the community he once called home. But will she ever learn the truth? And what will the community—and her new family—do if they learn the truth about her?

Ethan Dolinsky’s roofing job in Lancaster County, Pa ended up changing his life, and lifestyle when he fell in love and converted to the Amish faith. But when Ethan ended up hanging himself, his sister Charlotte decides to fake being an Amish to try to find out what happened to him. But as one lie leads to another, Charlotte finds herself in some compromising situations as time goes on. Will she find the answers she is looking for? And what will happen when secrets about Charlotte come to surface? Find out in this amazing new book by author Beth Wiseman.

If the book is written by Beth Wiseman, then I know its going to be a keeper! I love anything this wonderful author writes! This story is different than most of your typical Amish stories. With Ethan converting to Amish, then the hanging, and Charlotte deceiving the Amish community by posing as one of their own, this book is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat! I grew to love the characters early in the book, and really felt for them because they were all grieving the loss of their loved one. There is a lot of tensions floating around in this story, and I like the way Ms. Wiseman handles the touchy situations. And I also love the way she keeps the plot exciting and interesting, keeping me interesting enough to read most of the book before putting it down! I love this story, and look forward to book two in this series!
