ABOUT THIS BOOK
Though there have been many stories about the Cup of Christ, the Holy Grail, after the Last Supper, this is the first imaginative account of the Cup’s previous history and significance. Nehemiah, the young son of a Jewish woman, a weaver from Jerusalem, is born and raised among the Jews who didn’t return to Jerusalem from the Exile. Educated by Rabbi Kagba, one of the magi present at Jesus’ birth thirty years earlier, Nehemiah grows up with the expectation of a soon-coming Messiah. Could the Yeshua of Nazareth, who is walking the earth, reportedly doing miracles, be that Messiah?

When young Nehemiah must travel the long caravan road to Jerusalem, he is charged with an unusual mission—to carry a mysterious object back to the holy city of Jerusalem . . . an object whose reappearance heralds the Messiah’s arrival.

Nehemiah arrives in Jerusalem just as the final events of Jesus’ earthly ministry are coming to a climax: the Feast of Dedication, the Triumphal Entry, the last cleansing of the Temple, and culminating at the Last Supper in the Upper Room. Only Nehemiah understands the true sacrifice that is to come as he makes the cup worthy of his Savior.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Bodie and Brock Thoene have an awesome way of writing historical Biblical fiction, and I enjoy reading their stories so much. Take This Cup is a work of fiction, it is not a true Biblical account. But what I really love about this story is that it takes historical Biblical facts about the times and places in the Bible, and place characters there, and weaves a story that will stay with me for a long time. And though I know the fictional part of it is just that, fiction, I can get a better feel, a better idea of what life was like during those Bible times. I love reading about Bible characters and what they may have gone through, and the lives they lived. And in Take This Cup, we have a story of that amazing time in history when Jesus gave his live for you and me! What a wonderful job Nehemiah had in this story as he makes this cup worthy of his Savior. I can’t even describe what this book is like, its something you have to read for yourself. For me, this was not a fast read because I wanted to take in each word on each page, so it took me a few days to read it, but it is well worth the read!!

I very highly recommend this book to all Christians. If you don’t have a lot of time to read, or if you are a slow reader, that’s ok, just read a little each day and you will finish it! And for all of you history buffs, you will love the vivid historical scenes throughout this book, and the amazing story it tells!
