Huckleberry Summer
by Jennifer Beckstrand

Book Two in The Huckleberry Matchmakers Series

Cautious to a fault, Lily Eicher strives to live up to her dat’s high standards. She’s certainly not the kind of proper Amish girl who would make time for someone as impetuous as the Helmuths’ grandson, Aden–even if his lively spirit and caring ways are showing her just how wonderful following her heart can be. . .

Recklessly doing the right thing got Aden into big trouble. A fresh start at his grandparents’ is just what he needs. And shy, pretty Lily is turning his world upside down and making him want to prove he can do good within the rules. But now both must find enough faith and understanding to risk pursuing their dreams–together. . .

“The next installment of the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series will hook readers with its love story, its sticky situations and a grandmother who only wants happiness for her grandchildren. Beckstrand brings new life to the age-old occupation of matchmaking.” 4 1/2 Stars and a “Top Pick” selection from Romantic Times Book Reviews

Huckleberry Hill is sizzling again as the matchmakers choose another grandchild to help find a mate. This time Anna and Felty Helmuth takes in their grandson Aden. Maybe time spent with his grandparents will keep Aden out of trouble. And Anna has just the right young lady in mind for Aden, and it is Lily Eicher. Of course Lily and Aden know nothing about Anna and her mission, making this story much more interesting. Lily is so shy, the last thing she needs is someone like Aden the lead her astray, but don’t tell Anna that, because she already has her mind made up!

I love how Anna and Felty bring out the best in people. Aden wasn’t really a bad guy, but he always got in trouble trying to help someone out. He couldn’t help himself because he wanted to do what was right, but what he was doing was not the Amish way. It took the calm, understanding and wisdom from Felty and Anna to help him understand what was right. Sometimes thought Anna was very sneaky, and I just loved it! Throughout both of the books in this series, I have learned so much from the wisdom of these two adorable and precious people! Again in this book, Anna and Felty reminded me so much of my grandparents and their wisdom when talking to me. I cherish those times so much!

Again Jennifer Beckstrand gives her readers and outstanding story to read! This is such a delightful, enjoyable and fun read, one that you will think about a long time after you finish reading the book! Anna and Felty have a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to read what they have in store for us in the third book of this series! And oh, about the couple, you will surely enjoy the little details by Anna to place these two young people together, making sure they spent time together. The romance is oh so sweet! I know you will love it as much as I do!

I grew up with a steady diet of William Shakespeare and Jane Austen. After all that literary immersion, I naturally decided to get a degree in mathematics, which came in handy when one of my six children needed help with homework. After my fourth daughter was born, I started writing. By juggling diaper changes, soccer games, music lessons, laundry, and two more children, I finished my first manuscript—a Western—in just under fourteen years.

I have always been fascinated by the Amish way of life and now write Inspirational Amish Romance. I am drawn to the strong faith of the Plain people and admire the importance they put on enduring family ties. I have visited and studied Amish communities in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin where I met with a bishop and a minister as well as several Amish mamms, dats, and children. It has always impressed me at what salt-of-the-earth people they are. My interactions with these kind people have been some of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I have a dear Amish friend with whom I correspond in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She helps me keep my facts straight and gives me inspiration for my stories.

My goal is to write uplifting, inspiring stories with happy endings and hopeful messages. If my books make readers want to give themselves a big hug or jump up and down for joy, I’ve done my job. There are three Amish romances in the Forever After in Apple Lake Series (Summerside/Guideposts). Kate’s Song, Rebecca’s Rose, and Miriam’s Quilt are all now available. Kate’s Song was the #1 Romantic Religious Fiction download in the Free Kindle Store in August of 2012, and Rebecca’s Rose and Miriam’s Quilt both spent time in the top 50 Religious Fiction books on

I have six Amish Roamish buggy<img class=”alignleft wp-image-1131″ alt=”amish buggy” src=”” width=”234″ height=”175″ />mances in the works with Kensington Books. The first book, Huckleberry Hill, is now available in stores and online. Huckleberry Hill is set in Wisconsin Amish country.

The series, The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill, is about an elderly Amish couple who try to find suitable mates for their grandchildren. What could be more fun than throwing two young people together to see if sparks ignite? No one would ever suspect two octogenarian Amish folks of mischief.

Romantic Times gave Huckleberry Hill 4 1/2 stars, calling it “A sweet romance with a lot of heart that offers a new, refreshing take on the…matchmaking trope. The storyline is feasible, the characters are well written, with both their strengths and weaknesses on display. Readers will treasure this series and put the first outing on their keeper shelf.”

I have four daughters, two sons, three sons-in-law, and two adorable grandsons. I live in the foothills of the Wasatch Front with my husband and one son still left at home.

Sheryle, you can always get them online at places like Amazon and B&N, but they are also available at many bookstores. A lot of people have seen them at Walmart. They haven’t been at my local Walmart, but they’re in lots of other places. Hmm, I might have to go talk to my friends at my local Walmart. 🙂
