Revell Presents….While Love Stirs by Lorna Seilstad

While Love Stirs

by Lorna Seilstad

while love stirs

Take one lovely young woman.
Add two ambitious young men.
Stir . . . and stand back.

As a graduate of Fannie Farmer’s School of Cookery, Charlotte Gregory is thrilled to have the opportunity to travel, lecture, and give cooking demonstrations on the very latest kitchen revolution–the gas stove. And she certainly doesn’t mind that the gas company has hired the kindhearted Lewis Mathis to entertain at her lectures.

Lewis encourages Charlotte’s work, especially her crusade to introduce fresh, appetizing, nutritious food to those convalescing in hospitals. But young hospital superintendent Dr. Joel Brooks is not convinced any changes should be made–especially by this outspoken young woman.

When Charlotte and Joel are coerced into planning a fund-raising gala for the hospital, will this combustible pair explode?

Follow the second Gregory sister as she looks for true love and makes her way in a rapidly changing world in this breezy, lighthearted love triangle that will keep you guessing.

Charlotte graduated from Fannie Farmer’s School of Cookery in 1910 and she knows her foods and cooking. But Dr. Joel Brooks wasn’t happy when Charlotte let him know he was feeding the patients at his hospital the most balanced meal. They seemed to hit it head on for a while, but then several situations started softening Dr. Brooks at bit about Charlotte and maybe she isn’t to bad after all?

I have read all of  Lorna Seilstad’s books and love them all!! Ms. Seilstad has a wonderful way of writing that makes you smile. Her books are fun, funny, interesting and entertaining, and a real joy to read. And While Love Stirs was one of her best! I really enjoyed the information about the early days of Fannie Farmer’s School of Cookery, and what Charlotte had learned as a student. I enjoyed the cooking contest and the classes Charlotte taught on the new gas range. And Charlotte’s spunky and determined personality was a hoot because she would stand up against anyone if she thought she was right. All in all, this is a really awesome read. For those who enjoy a light, good, clean and fun read, I highly recommend While Love Stirs by Lorna Seilstad! You will be pleasantly pleased that you picked up this book!

Through Deep Waters

A past filled with shame can be washed away with a love that conquers all

Born to an unloving prostitute in a popular Chicago brothel, timid seventeen-year-old Dinah Hubley was raised amidst the secrets held in every dark, grimy room of her home. Anxious to escape, Dinah pursues her dream of becoming a Harvey Girl, waiting tables along the railroad in an upscale hotel. But when she finds out she isn’t old enough, her only option is to accept a job as a chambermaid at the Clifton Hotel in Florence, Kansas. Eager to put everything behind her, Dinah feels more worthless than ever, based on a single horrible decision she made to survive.

The Clifton offers a life Dinah has never known, but blinded to the love around her, Dinah remains buried in the shame of her past. When a handsome chicken farmer named Amos Ackerman starts to show interest, Dinah withdraws further, convinced no one could want a sullied woman like her. Despite his self-consciousness about his handicapped leg and her strange behavior, Amos resolves to show Dinah Christ’s love. But can she ever accept a gift she so desperately needs?

Wow! Just when I think Kim Vogel Sawyer’s books can’t get any better, she blows me away with another awesome one! Boy I felt so sorry for Dinah and the lifestyle she grew up in. Being a prostitute, Dinah’s mother raised her in a brothel, didn’t want or care for her.  I can’t even imagine what it would be like. My heart ached for her so much while reading this story! But I did appreciate the cook at the brothel because he watched out for Dinah, and was the only father figure she had! And he was willing to help her with anything! The sad thing about this story it, there are people out there that live in these conditions daily, and reading Through the Deep Waters reminded me of how much I need to be in prayer for these precious young girls.

Ms. Sawyer created characters that developed into real people jumping from the pages are I read this book! Even though I wasn’t raised as Dinah, I could feel each heartache she felt, and each struggle she faced. I really got so angry at the brothel owner, the very idea of her acting like she did about Dinah’s mother, and then the unthinkable things she put Dinah through. No one should get by with her actions, and to think that there are people today just like this woman, or worse makes me cringe. I appreciate Kim Vogel Sawyer writing a book dealing with this horrible issue and I hope that each person that reads Through the Deep Waters will pass the books along, and encourage to pray for precious souls today that live this life. But it doesn’t end there! Mrs. Sawyer gives us the other side of the story too, a story of love, mercy, grace and redemption through out Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! And she takes the feelings and emotions, the past and the present, weaves them together to create an ending that you will not forget! Can you tell I love, love, loved this story! And I will keep this book to pass around to those I love! I highly encourage each Christian to pick up a copy of this book to read for themselves. You will be amazed!

Take this Cup

Though there have been many stories about the Cup of Christ, the Holy Grail, after the Last Supper, this is the first imaginative account of the Cup’s previous history and significance. Nehemiah, the young son of a Jewish woman, a weaver from Jerusalem, is born and raised among the Jews who didn’t return to Jerusalem from the Exile. Educated by Rabbi Kagba, one of the magi present at Jesus’ birth thirty years earlier, Nehemiah grows up with the expectation of a soon-coming Messiah. Could the Yeshua of Nazareth, who is walking the earth, reportedly doing miracles, be that Messiah?

When young Nehemiah must travel the long caravan road to Jerusalem, he is charged with an unusual mission—to carry a mysterious object back to the holy city of Jerusalem . . . an object whose reappearance heralds the Messiah’s arrival.

Nehemiah arrives in Jerusalem just as the final events of Jesus’ earthly ministry are coming to a climax: the Feast of Dedication, the Triumphal Entry, the last cleansing of the Temple, and culminating at the Last Supper in the Upper Room. Only Nehemiah understands the true sacrifice that is to come as he makes the cup worthy of his Savior.

Bodie and Brock Thoene have an awesome way of writing historical Biblical fiction, and I enjoy reading their stories so much. Take This Cup is a work of fiction, it is not a true Biblical account. But what I really love about this story is that it takes historical Biblical facts about the times and places in the Bible, and place characters there, and weaves a story that will stay with me for a long time. And though I know the fictional part of it is just that, fiction, I can get a better feel, a better idea of what life was like during those Bible times. I love reading about Bible characters and what they may have gone through, and the lives they lived. And in Take This Cup, we have a story of that amazing time in history when Jesus gave his live for you and me! What a wonderful job Nehemiah had in this story as he makes this cup worthy of his Savior. I can’t even describe what this book is like, its something you have to read for yourself. For me, this was not a fast read because I wanted to take in each word on each page, so it took me a few days to read it, but it is well worth the read!!

I very highly recommend this book to all Christians. If you don’t have a lot of time to read, or if you are a slow reader, that’s ok, just read a little each day and you will finish it! And for all of you history buffs, you will love the vivid historical scenes throughout this book, and the amazing story it tells!

Huckleberry Summer by Jennifer Beckstrand

Huckleberry Summer
by Jennifer Beckstrand

Book Two in The Huckleberry Matchmakers Series

Cautious to a fault, Lily Eicher strives to live up to her dat’s high standards. She’s certainly not the kind of proper Amish girl who would make time for someone as impetuous as the Helmuths’ grandson, Aden–even if his lively spirit and caring ways are showing her just how wonderful following her heart can be. . .

Recklessly doing the right thing got Aden into big trouble. A fresh start at his grandparents’ is just what he needs. And shy, pretty Lily is turning his world upside down and making him want to prove he can do good within the rules. But now both must find enough faith and understanding to risk pursuing their dreams–together. . .

“The next installment of the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series will hook readers with its love story, its sticky situations and a grandmother who only wants happiness for her grandchildren. Beckstrand brings new life to the age-old occupation of matchmaking.” 4 1/2 Stars and a “Top Pick” selection from Romantic Times Book Reviews

Huckleberry Hill is sizzling again as the matchmakers choose another grandchild to help find a mate. This time Anna and Felty Helmuth takes in their grandson Aden. Maybe time spent with his grandparents will keep Aden out of trouble. And Anna has just the right young lady in mind for Aden, and it is Lily Eicher. Of course Lily and Aden know nothing about Anna and her mission, making this story much more interesting. Lily is so shy, the last thing she needs is someone like Aden the lead her astray, but don’t tell Anna that, because she already has her mind made up!

I love how Anna and Felty bring out the best in people. Aden wasn’t really a bad guy, but he always got in trouble trying to help someone out. He couldn’t help himself because he wanted to do what was right, but what he was doing was not the Amish way. It took the calm, understanding and wisdom from Felty and Anna to help him understand what was right. Sometimes thought Anna was very sneaky, and I just loved it! Throughout both of the books in this series, I have learned so much from the wisdom of these two adorable and precious people! Again in this book, Anna and Felty reminded me so much of my grandparents and their wisdom when talking to me. I cherish those times so much!

Again Jennifer Beckstrand gives her readers and outstanding story to read! This is such a delightful, enjoyable and fun read, one that you will think about a long time after you finish reading the book! Anna and Felty have a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to read what they have in store for us in the third book of this series! And oh, about the couple, you will surely enjoy the little details by Anna to place these two young people together, making sure they spent time together. The romance is oh so sweet! I know you will love it as much as I do!

I grew up with a steady diet of William Shakespeare and Jane Austen. After all that literary immersion, I naturally decided to get a degree in mathematics, which came in handy when one of my six children needed help with homework. After my fourth daughter was born, I started writing. By juggling diaper changes, soccer games, music lessons, laundry, and two more children, I finished my first manuscript—a Western—in just under fourteen years.

I have always been fascinated by the Amish way of life and now write Inspirational Amish Romance. I am drawn to the strong faith of the Plain people and admire the importance they put on enduring family ties. I have visited and studied Amish communities in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin where I met with a bishop and a minister as well as several Amish mamms, dats, and children. It has always impressed me at what salt-of-the-earth people they are. My interactions with these kind people have been some of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I have a dear Amish friend with whom I correspond in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She helps me keep my facts straight and gives me inspiration for my stories.

My goal is to write uplifting, inspiring stories with happy endings and hopeful messages. If my books make readers want to give themselves a big hug or jump up and down for joy, I’ve done my job. I am a member of Romance Writers of America and American Christian Fiction Writers and am represented by Mary Sue Seymour of The Seymour Agency.

There are three Amish romances in the Forever After in Apple Lake Series (Summerside/Guideposts). Kate’s Song, Rebecca’s Rose, and Miriam’s Quilt are all now available. Kate’s Song was the #1 Romantic Religious Fiction download in the Free Kindle Store in August of 2012, and Rebecca’s Rose and Miriam’s Quilt both spent time in the top 50 Religious Fiction books on

The series, The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill, is about an elderly Amish couple who try to find suitable mates for their grandchildren. What could be more fun than throwing two young people together to see if sparks ignite? No one would ever suspect two octogenarian Amish folks of mischief.

Romantic Times gave Huckleberry Hill 4 1/2 stars, calling it “A sweet romance with a lot of heart that offers a new, refreshing take on the…matchmaking trope. The storyline is feasible, the characters are well written, with both their strengths and weaknesses on display. Readers will treasure this series and put the first outing on their keeper shelf.”

The Heart’s Pursuit is a fun and enjoyable read! I really liked Silver’s spunky and determined attitude and the way she wasn’t going to let anyone stand in her way. Robin Lee Hatcher does a fantastic job of so vividly describing the desert as well as the mountains and rocky cliffs along the way. I always enjoy set in the Colorado mountains, and the scenes in this book gave me the feeling of being there with the characters. There are a lot of twists and turns here, some intense emotions, but Sliver and Jarad are determined to stay focused on what their mail goal is, and nothing would stop them!
