each morning. Seasoned with insight and grace, this tender devotional
points to the divine presence of God in everyday moments. Whether
purchased as a personal resource or given as a heartfelt gift, God, Me,
and Sweet Iced Tea will help readers develop a daily habit of turning to

God in those quiet moments of reflection.

Have you ever read devotionals and could feel the heart of the author? This is how it was for me reading Rose Johnson’s devotional God, Me and Sweet Ice Tea. Rose has written a sweet book of devotions that reflect on scripture from God’s Word. Each devotion is about a different scripture, they are very short, it only takes a few minutes to read each one. After each devotion you will find a collection of scripture if you want to read more on the topic for that day. There are lines for journaling and answering questions, there is a prayer, a prayer focus, and Today’s Sweet Tea Moments. Each devotion is three to four pages long.

First of all, I love this little book, and it is small enough to slip in your purse and take with you. The devotions deal with issues such as, Resolutions, what the Lord requires from us, complaining, obedience, taming the tongue, perfect peace, a life of service, and this is just a small insight at what is in this special devotional. This is a devotional you can use in several ways. If you only have time for a quick read, you can read just the devotion, or you can take more time to look up the scripture, answer the questions and meditate on what God has for you for that specific day. Either way, you will find this to be a very important book to keep around. And I especially appreciate the way Ms. Rose puts her heart into each thing she writes. As I read this book, I could feel Rose’s love for the Lord and her willingness to serve Him. To me, this is what makes God, Me, and Sweet Ice Tea such a special devotion for you to have. I love my copy, and appreciate Rose Chandler Johnson providing it for me to read and review this book, and the opinions I have expressed her are mine only.

I really want to encourage you to check out God, Me, and Sweet Ice Tea and purchase a copy for your library. You will be more than pleased with this wonderful heartwarming devotional.

Book Info
About the book: In the small Lake Erie township of Benning, someone is at work cultivating a supernatural garden . . .
Andy Kemp’s young life has been as ravaged as his scarred face. Disfigured by an abusive father, the teenager hides behind his books and an impenetrable wall of cynicism and anger.
As Andy’s mother struggles to reconnect with him, his Uncle Rip returns transformed from a stint in prison and wants to be a mentor to the reclusive boy, doing everything he can to help end Andy’s pain. When Andy begins hearing strange music through his iPod and making near-prophetic announcements, Rip is convinced that what Andy is hearing is the voice of God.
Elsewhere, police officer Heather Gerisch responds to a late-night breaking and entering in one of the poorest homes in town. She soon realizes that the masked prowler has left thousands of dollars in gift cards from a local grocery store. As the bizarre break-ins continue and Heather pursues the elusive “Summer Santa,” Andy and Rip discover an enormous and well-kept garden of wildflowers that seems to have grown overnight at an abandoned steel mill.
Soon, they realize who the gardener is, and a spree of miracles transfigures this small town from a place of hopelessness into a place of healing and beauty.

This book caught my attention with the really weird break-ins that were happening in the community. I mean, someone breaking in and leaving money and gifts? This alone kept my head in this book until it was finished. Andy Kemp had reason to be upset because of his face being deformed because of a fire, and his mother had reason to be upset because Andy blamed her for his medical condition. The blessing came when Uncle Rip return from prison now a Christian, and strikes out to help Andy and is willing to do anything he can to help.  And then the music started appearing on Andy’s iPod. Could this be a voice from God?
This is a very intriguing story with characters that are solid and ones I grew to love as the story unfolded. The Sinners Garden tells of real life struggles and how a person is made whole through the love of Jesus. I appreciate the author having the characters live through the disappointments and struggles before our eyes are we read the pages. I felt pulled into this story in a special way, making it so realistic. I love books like this, and I loved this story!
If you enjoy Christian fiction, you will really enjoy The Sinners’ Garden so I encourage you to pick up your copy asap!

Shannon’s summer just got a whole lot more . . . Amish?

Shannon McNamara has exciting plans for the summer–getting her driver’s license, a job, and more–and she can’t wait to dive in. But her ill mother has plans of her own: to relocate them both to the heart of Amish country in Ohio where she has relatives who can help her.

Turns out a “simple” life is actually a lot of hard work. But when a hot young Amish guy named Ezra enters the picture, Shannon’s ready to get an Amish makeover and even consider making it a permanent change. Will these plans come crashing down around her too? Or can she really make the jump into a whole new way of life?

Teen favorite Melody Carlson brings fans another surprising story of worlds–and families–colliding.

This is a really sweet book to read. Shannon wasn’t expecting to like it when visiting her mom’s Amish family, but she finds out that there are good looking Amish boys! Even though this is a teen fiction I enjoyed the interaction between Shannon and the Amish family they were staying with. The characters here were realistic and believable, and the Amish household was it’s useful peaceful and quiet place. Melody Carlson is a gifted storyteller and tells an awesome story here in this book. And with the many twists and turns throughout the story, its difficult to put this sweet book down after you start reading. Mix and English and Amish family together, and you have and interesting story to follow!

And if you have teenagers, this is a wonderful book, and a wonderful series to have them read!  I received this book from Revell to read and review.  I was not required to write a positive review.
