I found The Secrets of Happy Families to be a really good book to help families stay together, have more family time together, and just be much happier than they are now.  Though a lot of the things here doesn’t apply to my family because its just the two of us now, I could still find a few things that would help my husband and I spend more quality time together. This book is more for those families where both parents work, and have a number of kid running everywhere, in different places and times. For these families, this book has some very valuable tips, advice  and ‘secrets’ that can help your family grow closer together. I like that Feiler takes some of the best plans out there for families, and puts them in perspective to show how they really work. This is a very valuable piece of information, and I highly recommend this book for all families. It may not all apply to you, but everyone can find something in here that will better your life as a family.

Litfuse Presents A Promise Kept by Robin Lee Hatcher plus FB Party and Kindle HDX Giveaway

A Promise Kept

by Robin Lee Hatcher

God was going to save her marriage, Allison was sure of it. But neither her husband nor her marriage had been saved.

What had become of His promise?

Tony Kavanagh had been Allison’s dream-come-true. They were in love within days, engaged within weeks, married and pregnant within a year. Her cup bubbled over with joy . . . but years later, that joy had been extinguished by unexpected trials.

The day Allison issued her husband an ultimatum, she thought it might save him. She never expected he would actually leave. She was certain God had promised to heal; it was clear that she’d misunderstood.

Now, living in the quiet mountain cabin she inherited from her single, self-reliant Great Aunt Emma, Allison must come to terms with her grief and figure out how to adapt to small town life. But when she finds a wedding dress and a collection of journals in Emma’s attic, a portrait of her aunt emerges that takes Allison completely by surprise: a portrait of a heartbroken woman surprisingly like herself.

As Allison reads the incredible story of Emma’s life in the 1920s and 1930s, she is forced to ask a difficult question: Does she really surrender every piece of her life to the Lord?

Drawing from her own heart-wrenching story of redemption, A Promise Kept is Robin Lee Hatcher’s emotionally charged thanksgiving to a God who answers prayers—in His own time and His own ways.

At first, I wasn’t sure I would like A Promise Kept, but the more I read, the more I loved this story. Allison’s dreams were shattered when her husband Tony his drinking addition over her, ending in a divorce. Allison moved into a mountain home she inherited from a great aunt. A lot of things happened in this story. Allison started reading her Great Aunt Emma’s journals, and other circumstances happened that drew Allison closer to her aunt, and closer to God.

Robin Lee Hatcher does an excellent job of switching this story back and forth between Aunt Emma’s life decades ago and current event happening now. It was very easy for me to keep up with both stories and I really enjoyed them both. But I think Aunt Emma’s story is the one that gripped my heart the most. As the secrets were being unveiled, the more my heart went out to this special lady. And I don’t want to tell anything because it will give it away for you!

I highly recommend A Promise Kept by Robin Lee Hatcher. It is a nice, clean enjoyable read, and its just plain good for the soul to read a heartwarming story like this. I love it all, the cover, the story and the ending.
