Sandwich with a Side of RomanceABOUT SANDWICH WITH A SIDE OF ROMANCE

Sandwich represents hope for twenty-year-old Maddie Buckner and Kyle, the eleven-year-old brother Maddie wants to spring out of foster care. Then she loses her new job after less than a day on the clock. It’s all Reuben-the-Jerk’s fault, and she’s determined to make him right the wrong.

He does so, reluctantly, by giving her a job at his restaurant, The Sandwich Shop. Then crazy things start happening at the restaurant, and Kyle’s foster parents apply to adopt him. To stop it all, Maddie must learn the art of humbling herself and accepting the help God has arranged, risking her heart to Reuben in the process.

And she’d rather eat a million corned-beef on rye sandwiches than do that.

My Thoughts On This Book

When I saw the title of this book, I wasn’t sure what to expect, or sure if I wanted to read it. What does Sandwich have to do with romance? Well that is something you need to read the book to find out. For me, Sandwich With a Side of Romance was a really light, fun and enjoyable read and I love, loved it! At first, Maddie was a little annoying, but then when I kept reading, I understood her more, and understood why she acted like she did. And Reuben-the –jerk is just that, a jerk! But he met his match with Maddie, and he couldn’t seem to get away from her, no matter how he tried.

This is a wonderful debut novel for author Krista Phillips. Wonderful writing job and an awesomely fun book Krista. Thank you! I just can’t say enough about this fun book, and I won’t give anything away, so I strongly encourage you to pick up a copy of this book for your enjoyment. And as an added bonus, the cover of this book is beautiful! This  pink, retro looking cover with capture your attention as soon as you hit the bookstore!

This book was provided by the publisher Abingdon Press through PUYB blog tours. I was not expected to give a positive review, only an honest one. The opinions in this review are mine only.

“Don’t let the light-hearted cover and title fool you. Krista Phillips’ spunky, rough-around-the-edges heroine may be “tickle me” funny, but her faith journey offers more than a cute read. There is depth here, made all the more satisfying served up with a generous side of romance.”

The Thrill of Romantic Suspense Meets the Romance of 1800s America

Lured by a handful of scribbled words across a faded letter, Cara Hamilton sets off from 1896 Ireland on a quest to find the brother she’d thought dead. Her search lands her in America, amidst a houseful of strangers and one man who claims to be a friend–Rourke Walsh.

Despite her brother’s warning, Cara decides to trust Rourke and reveals the truth about her purpose in America. But he is not who he claims to be, and as rumors begin to circulate about an underground group of dangerous revolutionaries, Cara’s desperation grows. Her questions lead her ever closer to her brother, but they also bring her closer to destruction as Rourke’s true intentions come to light.
