Texas, 1874. Years ago, Will McMillan had fought in the open, next to his Captain, Clayton Proffitt. Now, in book 2 of The Heart of a Hero series, he’s waging another war undercover, pretending to be a member of the notorious Walton Gang.
But when a hostage situation goes awry and an innocent woman is in the middle of the fray, Will knows he must protect her no matter what happens. Even if they risk being killed by his gang or by the lawmen on their trail. Even if the woman he’s risking everything for will never love him back. Even if all he’s left with is his faith.
MY THOUGHTS ON “A TEXAS HONOR”
Working undercover as a U.S. Marshall, Will McMillian is now a member of the famous Walton Gang. When he jumps a train with the intention to rob is, he is shocked to find a woman aboard. This just can’t happen. They’ve never had a robbery that involved a woman.
Jamilyn Ellis is on her way to live with a couple of her aunts, and is never more shocked when there was a hold-up on the train she is on. But even though she is innocent of anything, she is now being held hostage. Will she ever arrive safely at her aunt’s home?
Not liking how the men were looking at Jamie and making comments about her, Will takes her into another train car to protect her, since he is feeling guilty about her being left on the train. But will he be able to protect her from the other men, and his boss? You can find these answers and more when you read Shelley Gray’s book “A Texas Honor.”
In this second book in The Heart of A Hero Series, Shelley Gray has again created unique, real, believable characters that will touch your heart. My heart went out to Jamie, she had to be so very scared because these men were capable of doing anything. As difficult as it was, she had to trust Will because he was her only hope.
I thoroughly enjoyed this Will and Jamilyn’s touching story. And though they were the main characters, I also enjoyed reading about Scout Proffit and how he helped with Jamie. I was also touched with how he helped the young lady running from her abusive step-dad.
This is a wonderful book for you to read and enjoy. It can be read as a stand-alone but you will enjoy it even more if you read the first book in the series, “A Texas Promise.” I encourage you to grab a copy of these two books, plus the third book that will be out a little later this year, and enjoy this wonderful series.
