About the Book:
Lizzie Engel is used to running away. At eighteen, she left her Mennonite hometown, Kingdom, Kansas, with plans never to return.
But five years later, the new life she built is falling apart. Lizzie knows she’s being followed, and she’s certain the same mysterious stranger is behind the threatening letters she’s received. Realizing she’ll have to run again, the only escape Lizzie can manage is a return to the last place she wants to go.
Once she arrives in Kingdom, Lizzie is confident she’ll be safe until she comes up with a new plan. In reacquainting herself with the town and its people–especially her old friend, Noah Housler–she wonders if she judged her hometown and her Mennonite faith too harshly. However, just as she begins to come to terms with her roots, Lizzie is horrified to discover the danger she ran from is closer than ever.
No longer sure who to trust and fearful for her life and the lives of those around her, Lizzie finds she has only one place left to run–to the Father whose love is inescapable.
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Wow, I love this book! Lizzie, Clay, Noah, Lizzie’s mom and dad, Cora and all of the gang are just like family to me now! Wonderful characters created by Nancy Mehl to give readers a story that will stick with us for a long time! Oh, and I can’t forget Cherry Beary, Charity, what a precious little girl. And she loved her Prince Phillip!
My heart hurt for Lizzie and the way she was treated by her dad, and I don’t blame her for not wanting her daughter anywhere near him. He just had a different and difficult way of showing his love, because of the way his father treated him. But can Lizzie and her dad every have a relationship like father and daughter? Only God can break through the hard barrier of his heart and change him.
And what about the notes, and the guy that is following Lizzie? She had some difficult decisions to make because of her daughters safety. Will Lizzie choose Charity’s father, marry him so Charity will have her real mom and dad? Or will she choose Noah, who seems to be smitten by her?
I encourage you to grab a copy of Inescapable to read and enjoy. I love the mystery and suspense, with a little romance, and a whole lot of love. This is a story that will stay with you for a long time after you finish reading it! You will not be disappointed!
