Some dreams were meant to come true.

Jessamine Brady has been in the Shaker Village for half her young life, but in spite of how she loves her sisters there, she struggles to conform to the strict rules. Instead she entertains dreams of the world outside. When Tristan Cooper seems to step out of those dreams to entice her into the forbidden realm beyond the Shaker Village, her life turns upside down.

Will Jessamine be able to survive the storms of the world? Or will she retreat back to the peace of Harmony Hill?

Praise for Ann Gabhart’s Shaker Novels“The book rings with researched authenticity.”–Publishers Weekly about The Outsider

“A definite can’t-put-it-down book.”–Suzanne Woods Fisher, bestselling author, about The Seeker

“A tender and inspiring read.”–Ann Tatlock, award-winning author, about The Blessed

“From cover to cover, The Blessed captivates and challenges–an absolutely wonderful read.”–Judith Miller, author of A Bond Never Broken

Having reading some of Ann’s books on the Shakers, I knew what to expect about their beliefs, though I don’t support what they believe at all! How can people actually believe this stuff, and live by it is beyond me.

And such were the struggles of Jassamine Brady. Growing up in the shaker neighborhood and loving her family and friends there didn’t draw Jassamine to their way of life at all. She found herself very interested in the ways of the world and she sought those ways, struggling to obey the strict rules she was brought up to follow. And when unforeseen circumstances brings young Tristan into her life, Jassamine may be closer than she thinks about finding out what the outside would is all about.

Ann Gabhart has such a unique and wonderful way of writing about these shaker people with and open attitude, not condemning them, but giving her readers a true and vivid insight of how they really live.

I highly recommend The Gifted as well as the first four books in this wonderful series by Ann Gabhart.
