Anna Larson’s daughter, Lauren, is confused, brokenhearted, and misguided. It’s the turbulent 1960s and, feeling alienated from her mother, Lauren chooses to stay with her paternal grandmother. However, repelled by the woman’s manipulative and spiteful ways, Lauren returns to her mother, the river, and the Inn at Shining Waters.
There, Lauren begins to appreciate the person her mother is becoming–and she loves the river. However, romantic interests throw a wrench into the works and Lauren, jealous and angry, returns to her grandmother yet again.
But as time passes, Lauren, now a mother to her own defiant teenager, faces a new crisis–one that puts the entire family at risk.
“Colorful characters, entrancing setting, and a twisting yet natural plot carried me along. A lovely read. ” Lyn Cote, Author of Her Abundant Joy
“Having read the first book of The Inn at Shining Waters Series, I was instantly pulled into this ongoing saga of three generations of women, struggling to make sense of life and the Native American heritage that belongs to them. Raw with emotion and rich with hope, River’s Call is not to be missed!”  Kathy Herman, author of the bestselling series, Secrets of Roux River Bayou

Be sure to read River’s Song -Book one in The Inn at Shining Waters Series

River Song by Melody Carlson…Book 2 in The Inn at Shining Waters

5 stars all the way!

This book starts with Anna and Clark beginning their new life together. Then Anna receives a call from her daughter that she is sick. This brings Lauren to live with Anna and Clark, starting an all-new set of interesting situations for Anna and Clark. Then there is Anna’s once mother-in-law that shows her self in every way possible. This woman just irks me to my bones with her rudeness and the way she treats Anna.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series at this beautiful and relaxing setting on the Siuslaw River. How I would love to live at a wonderful place like this! Melody Carlson pens another awesome book with characters we grew to love in the first book, and enjoyed visiting again in this second book. And as in so many of her books, Melody deals with issues such as teen pregnancy, rebellion, family difficulties and disagreements, and dealing with family heritage. But also shows the love of God through love and forgiveness.

Don’t forget to pick up a copy of the first book in the series, River’s Song, and watch for the awesome conclusion to this series coming out in August 2012, River’s End.

I highly recommend this book for anyone to read and enjoy. This series is just a good, clean, relaxing series. Yes it does deal with problems, but you will laugh and cry along with these characters and they journey through life.

A big Thank You to the publisher Abingdon Press and to Glass Road Publicity Group for giving this book for me to read and review. I was not expected or required to provide a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine only.
